RSHA, HALT IMPEACHMENT PROCESS AGAINST FUBARA - INC, PDP •Says Its Destabilising State's Progress The Ijaw National Congress (INC) and it's youth wing, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) have issued a stern warning to the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA), demanding an immediate end to renewed impeachment threats against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The groups, supported by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described the move as a calculated attempt to destabilise the state’s progress Speaking in Port Harcourt on Thursday, INC President Prof. Benjamin Okaba declared that their resistance to the impeachment is not merely an ethnic issue but a defense of democracy itself. He expressed dismay that the crisis has resurfaced just months after a previous resolution, calling on all stakeholders to protect the governor’s mandate from what he described as an "unfortunate development." IYC President Dr. Alaye Theophilus urged the 26 lawmakers to abandon the path of impeachment and focus on constructive oversight. He noted that Governor Fubara has consistently initiated developmental projects and should be allowed to complete his tenure in peace. “This is a time for governance, not war,” Theophilus stated, accusing the Assembly of ignoring the needs of Rivers people to pursue political vendettas. Reinforcing this position, former PDP spokesperson in Rivers State, Sydney Tambari appealed to the lawmakers to "sheathe their swords" for the sake of the state. He highlighted that the Governor has already made significant concessions to ensure peace, and warned that a fresh impeachment process at the start of the year would only serve to derail progress and invite anarchy.

President Bola Tinubu used Wike to destroy the PDP, the party that made him who he is, and now they have chosen Sim Fubara over Wike. As it stands: Wike has no place in the APC. Wike has no place in the PDP. Wike has no place in the ADC. Soon, they will declare that he has no place in Tinubu's cabinet. If Wike attempts to oppose Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027, they will deploy the EFCC to intimidate him, as usual My advice to Wike is for him to form M5 against the APC in 2027 as FCT minister just the same way he formed G5 against the PDP in 2023 as a Governor, since he likes forming rebellious groups of number 5. Obasanjo said.

FUBARA HAS NOT BREACHED FISCAL LAW The Rivers State House of Assembly led by Martins Amaewhule is wrong on the impeachment move on Governor Fubara. Under the period of emergency rule, a budget was transmitted to the National Assembly by President Tinubu in May 2025 This budget was approved by the Senate on 25 June 2025 and subsequently by the House of Representatives on July 22 2025 for a total sum of #1.485 trillion. This budget is for one year – August 2025 to August 2026. So tell me, did the Governor breach the fiscal law or spending outside the appropriation? Since the Governor is comfortable with the composition of the said budget, it is okay not to present any supplementary budget. Besides, the constitution allows for a six-months spending window into the new fiscal year by a State Governor. Wike is really overdoing this thing and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly has refused to borrow sense. The truth remains that they are wasting their time. They can't remove Fubara from office. Wike should always remember that it was Tinubu who helped him the last time. GOVERNOR FUBARA had already dealt a terrible blow on his political influence in Rivers State. Martin White-Ufuah

Former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of trying to upstage President Bola Tinubu through his recent political activities in Rivers State. Abati, during Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, slammed Wike over claims of leading a rainbow coalition in Rivers State, stressing that the Minister lacks the authority to interfere in the All Progressives Congress (APC) affairs. According to the veteran journalist, APC leadership, including the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, had publicly stated that ‘Wike is a busybody’ who has no business meddling in the party’s internal matters. Abati pointed out that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has repeatedly disowned Wike, insisting that he is no longer a member of the party. He further criticised Wike for abandoning his duties as FCT minister to engage in political activities in Rivers State, including ‘premature campaigns’ for Tinubu, adding that such action undermines the President and exposes him to public ridicule. He said, “Now first, let’s deal with Wike who says he’s having a rainbow coalition that is going to shut out everybody in the Rivers State, and it seems to me that he doesn’t have that right. “In fact, the director of information of the APC, in addition to the chairman of the party, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the spokesperson of the party, Ajibola Basiru, have more or less said that Wike is a busy body who has no business interfering in the affairs of the All Progressives Congress, the ruling party, because as far as they are concerned, he’s a member of the People’s Democratic Party. “The same people’s Democracy Party has rejected him, saying that he’s not their member, and they’ve repeated it again and again. But even more fundamental issues as follows, you have a minister of the Federal Capital Territory who has abandoned his duty post, and he’s in Rivers state, playing politics, door to door, house to house, and says he’s campaigning for President. “The party itself says they have not sent him on any message. It seems to me the FCT minister is undermining President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and exposing him for contempt of the Nigerian people. “The Independent National Electoral Commission has not even blown the whistle as regards political campaigns. He’s busy in Rivers state conducting campaigns. “And so what is INEC supposed to do in this particular regard? So when you talk about Rivers state, it looks like an act of discipline on the part of the FCT minister. It looks like an act of irresponsibility on the part of the FCT minister. “What Nyesom Wike is doing in Rivers state is very ridiculous. And I think that the embarrassment to the President of Nigeria does not amount to help. It amounts to, you know, trying to upstage the President of Nigeria, and therefore we are not surprised that principal members of the all progressive Congress have complained.”

APC to investigate Amaewhule, others' "defection" By The Neighbourhood Newspaper Team Against emerging doubts that some Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who claimed to have "defected" to the All Progressives Congress, APC, actually do not hold the party's membership card, it has emerged that national officers of the party may have begun moves to verify their claim of "defection" A top APC source who spoke to The Neighbourhood Newspaper Thursday night argued that the decision to verify their claims was based on revelations from some sources that the Rivers State lawmakers had yet to prove they actually registered with APC. "On your mandate we shall stand" which they sang even on national television wad good but that song is not APC's membership card", the top source disclosed. "Everybody saw the membership card that was issued to Governor Siminalayi Fubara when he joined the party. So, we would like the lawmakers to show their own membership cards, their wards where they registered so that we close this matter as quickly as is necessary." The source also told this medium that since they made the claim of their "defection" public and on the Floor of their temporary sitting venue, it was expected that they show their membership cards there, as well. "Otherwise, we shall inform Nigerians our findings. The senior source told this medium that even if they joined the party via its ongoing e-registration exercise, the state lawmakers still needed to have been issued the party's membership card. "And knowing those men, if they had our party's membership card, they would display it that day when they broadcast their "defection" live on TV. Your membership is only confirmed by your ownership of membership card which carries your data." During the plenary announcement, Speaker Martin Amaewhule reportedly said the APC was his new party and that he would do “everything necessary to ensure that his APC membership card is issued promptly.” That implied they had not yet received cards at that moment. On December 5, 2025, the following lawmakers announced that they had defected to the ruling party. Rt. Honourable Martin Amaewhule — Speaker (Obio/Akpor 1) Dumle Maol — Deputy Speaker (Gokana) Major Jack — Majority Leader (Akuku-Toru I) Linda Stewart — Deputy Majority Leader (Okrika) Franklin Nwabochi — Chief Whip (Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni) Azeru Opara — (Port Harcourt 3) Smart Adoki — (Port Harcourt 2) Enemi George — (Asari-Toru 2) Solomon Wami — (Port Harcourt 1) Igwe Aforji — (Eleme) Tekena Wellington — (Asari-Toru 1) Looloo Opuende — (Akuku-Toru 2) Peter Abbey — (Degema) Arnold Dennis — (Ogu/Bolo) Chimezie Nwankwo — (Etche) Gerald Oforji — (Oyigbo) Ofiks Kabang — Deputy Whip (Andoni) The State House of Assembly was scheduled to resume January 26, 2026, after Christmas/New Year holidays but their ambition to impeach Gov. Fubara made them cut short their holidays.

BREAKING: ‘I’ll not surrender Rivers N700bn IGR to Wike’ — Fubara blows hot Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared he will not yield to demands to hand over ₦700 billion, representing 35% of the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR), to anyone, sparking a heated power struggle with former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister. The dispute has raised concerns about the welfare of Rivers State citizens, with 4.4 million people living in multidimensional poverty. The feud between Fubara and Wike, who unilaterally chose Fubara as his successor, has escalated into violent confrontations, defections, and legal battles. Wike has threatened to make Rivers State “ungovernable” if Fubara doesn’t comply, while his supporters have vowed to “deal with” Fubara. In response, Fubara has warned that he won’t be intimidated, saying “Rivers State is not a playground” and that he’s prepared to defend the state’s interests. His supporters have also threatened to mobilise protests against Wike and his allies. The crisis had paralysed governance, prompting President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State. The situation remains tense, with both sides maintaining their respective stance. The outcome will have significant implications for Rivers State and Nigerian politics. The dispute highlights concerns about godfatherism in Nigerian politics and its impact on governance. Wike has accused Fubara of being ungrateful, while Fubara sees Wike’s demands as an attempt to undermine his authority. Credit; broad scope

Rivers State: The budget process start from the budget ministry, where it is been prepared, after receiving the budget proposal from the ministries, which is based on the year plans of the government, then it will be send to the executive council for approval, which after their approval the Governor or the President will present it to the state or national assembly in the case of the President it will be presented to the joint section of the national assembly, for it passage into law. So, the executive council approved is part of the process, not the final stage for anyone to query Also, as it is constitutionally required that, the Governor or President can spend money from the fund until 30 June of the current year, within which the budget of the current year supposed to have been passed. But all expense will be based on the preceding year budget, the preceding year budget was passed by the National Assembly as required by the law, for the national assembly to perform the functions of the state assembly, where the state assembly cannot sit. So, for now there is no constitutional breach as regards the governor spending. |

Wow this is fantastic. Congratulations 🎉 to the winner. |
A recently concluded opinion poll conducted by a reputable media organisation, Standard Post, has projected victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the August 8, 2026 election. According to the poll, Oyebamiji is leading the race with 52 per cent of respondents’ votes. The incumbent governor and governorship candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke, came a distant second with 38 per cent, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) emerged third with 8 per cent. The newspaper explained that the online opinion poll, conducted over the weekend, featured the three major candidates from the leading political parties participating in the off-cycle governorship election in the state. Standard Post noted that Osun State residents who participated in the poll voted overwhelmingly in favour of the APC candidate. The media organisation stated that the poll was professionally conducted, with in-depth analysis revealing the current standing of the candidates ahead of the 2026 governorship election. “From public opinion, political alignment, and on-ground observations, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presently appears to hold a decisive edge in the race. A key factor driving this momentum is the renewed unity and organisational strength within the APC.” The paper added that the unity within the APC has translated into stronger grassroots engagement and growing confidence among voters seeking what it described as a credible alternative. It also attributed the incumbent governor’s declining support to challenges facing critical sectors in the state, including health, housing, as well as uneven infrastructure development. The residents also identified lack of policy direction in key sectors such as education, agriculture, sports development among others as part of the resentment of the residents against the incumbent governor. “Unlike previous election cycles marked by internal divisions, the party is entering 2026 more cohesive, strategically prepared, and fully mobilised across all local governments. This unity has translated into stronger grassroots engagement and growing confidence among voters seeking a credible alternative.” The media house further noted that dissatisfaction with the current administration is shaping voter sentiment across the state. “These statistics reflect the growing desire of Osun people for a change in leadership, driven by widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration. “Key concerns include the lack of job opportunities for youths, a struggling health sector, uneven road infrastructure development concentrated largely in Ede, the abandonment of the Iwo–Osogbo road project, and several unfulfilled promises made by Governor Ademola Adeleke during the 2022 electioneering campaign.” https://dailyfocus.com.ng/osun-2026-apcs-candidate-oyebamiji-leads-adeleke-in-opinion-poll/
