I do share Farming ideas on post like this but people dey always attack me. I don't know why. I think pessimist are too much here. Idea I will share is what have shared before, plant tree crops they are very reliable, on 10 acre of land alone could give you million in a year. Try to plant something like coconut, cocoa, bitter kola, kolanut,Date plant, pawpaw cashew, plantain, rubber tree, palm kernel, mangoes, castor, macadamia, cardamom, jathropha. There are so many but this is what I want to share.
Seriously, I don't want to leave Lagos for now. Security is a big issue anywhere outside Lagos. May we not be kidnapped grin

Try Farming, Dont try animal Farming if you aren't really experience and strong emotionally, A farmer loss around 3000 fingerling of a month old to floor in Ibadan last month. Probability of loss is very high in animal compared to plant. but u might not really get cheap land in Lagos, but you can try Oyo State, or Ogun State, try and explore tree crops. Palm kernel, pawpaw cashew, cocoa, kola nut, bitter kola, coconut, mango, if we start to give you ideas now, some people will still be blocking us claiming it's impossible.
Please share the ideas. Crop/Plant farming is cool but I'm worried about security. I have heard of herdsmen attacks on farmers. In fact, it is one of the reading I'm relocating back to Lagos.

FamilyRe: How To Cope When Your Spouse Doesn't Listen: Seeking Advice by TT20: 12:54pm On Jul 09, 2023
naice:
I find myself facing a difficult situation in my marriage and would greatly appreciate your insights and advice. The issue at hand revolves around my wife's unwillingness to listen to me. I'm at a loss as to why she behaves this way, and it's starting to take a toll on our relationship.

To provide some context, my wife has a strong-headed personality, which often leads to conflicts between us. No matter how gently I communicate my concerns or requests, she seems to disregard them and even does the opposite. This behavior frustrates me and leaves me questioning our compatibility.

One possible explanation I've considered is her background as an orphan. She lost her parents at a young age and had to take on the responsibility of caring for herself and her siblings. While I understand the challenges she faced, it seems like her self-reliance has translated into a resistance to accepting input or guidance from others, including me.

At this point, I have contemplated divorce, but there's a significant factor holding me back: our children. I love them deeply and cannot bear the thought of being separated from them. As much as her strong-headedness affects me, I firmly believe that domestic violence is never an option.

I'm reaching out to this community for reasonable opinions and advice on how to navigate this situation. Have any of you experienced a similar dynamic in your relationships? How did you cope with a spouse who doesn't listen? Are there effective strategies to foster better communication and understanding in such circumstances?

Thank you in advance for your support and guidance. Your insights will be invaluable in helping me make an informed decision about the future of my marriage."
Break the table, make money, marry a second wife. Her head go straight.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: My Abusive Boss Broke My Head And Doesn't Want To Pay Me by TT20: 12:30pm On Jun 12, 2023
Tryagain77:
I saw a post on this forum which looks similar to mine and that inspired me into writing this to share with people how my boss (former) was abusing me.

I graduated from one of the courses in social science in one of the federal universities and have been job hunting to land a good job but to no avail.

Bills were piling up while I was going down economically. Out of hunger, lack and frustration, I settled to work as a barman in a hotel.

A week after resuming that work, the man that the hotel is leased out to started showing me his true colours. Nobody is above mistake in life. Even minor things that could have been settled without raising eyebrows, he would shout at me and abuse me right in front of customers. He would use derogatory words to describe me and say all sort of inhumane things to me, all to show that he's the boss.

Despite all that, I couldn't leave because I had no other job option at hand. For the 9 months I have worked in the place, these are the things I went through.

1. I have been verbally and physically abused by the said man. There is no kind of derogatory and inhumane word that man has not used on me and most times, right in the presence of customers and also when in the presence of the girls he brings to sleep with.

Note: this is how he behaves with all the staff, not only me.

2. He kicked me, slapped me, knocked my head, spat on me, yelled at me. Calling me a fool, an idiot, useless something etc, was no longer anything worrisome to me again because I got used to it.

3. Because of all these abuses, his friends who use to come there took advantage and started abusing me too. One slapped me the other day because I presented a bill he thought I surcharged him, which we later found out I didnt. I don't blame him actually.

4. You would work 2 months plus before you receive 1 month salary. For example, you would receive January salary between 10-15th of March.

5. Salary was N25,000 but I have never received that amount complete. He always look for something accuse me of in order to deduct our so called salary and pay less. There was a month I received N7000 as my salary.

6. Any customer that breaks a glass pays N1000 for it. When he first mentioned this in a meeting, we thought he was joking, but he was being serious. When he started deducting my salary for broken glasses, then I realized he was serious. I have never heard anything of such anywhere before. That a customer who breaks glass should pay N1000 for it.

What happened on the 23rd of May.
23rd of May was his birthday. He invited friends and celebrated. Right in his presence, one of the guests broke a glass. I'm the only one serving both the bar and guests in the room including food. So it was a very busy time for me. Just because I didn't sweep the broken glass immediately because I was busy serving people, as I wanted to pass, he shouted angrily at me, aimed me with the broken glass and broke my head. I was bleeding and I left the place to a pharmacy to treat the wound. Guess what? He was not even remorseful about it at all.

The following day I tendered a resignation letter with immediate effect. Obviously if I don't leave the place, the man may kill me or make me do something I will later regret.

Now pay me off, he's telling me I need to work again at least another one month for him to find a replacement, if I'm serious about receiving my outstanding salary or I should forget about it. Even at that, I know too well that he will pay me anything he likes, claiming glasses were broken, I did this and I did that. Presently he's looking for job seekers but nobody wants to work with such a crude person anymore. Even someone he sacked as usual over two months ago, he's not been able to replace till today.

Now I'm jobless, hungry and penniless.

I need advice on how to go about to collect my money from this man. I don't have strength for any fight with him. I just need my hard earned money but let it not be until another blood is spilled.

Story of a struggling Nigerian.
Drop his phone number, let's help you call him.
FamilyRe: Is It Ok For A Guy To Be Living With His Parents At Age 32-39 ? by TT20: 10:24pm On May 27, 2023
JILF:
Is it ok for a guy to be living at home where he grew up or with his parents between age 32-39? if you are a lady, will you find such men as someone who is serious with life or someone who is unserious?

I understand the economy has not be smiling for many and also understand that some men cannot afford to pay rent due to unemployment.
One of my clients in Lagos lived in his father's house till he built his own house within the same area. He was transferred to Lagos 2 months after his father's death. He lived in the house with his wife and mother (mother is still alive). He did a slight renovation and moved in. He paid his own bills, drives a ML350 2010. He bought a land within the same area, built his own house.
You can live anywhere you like, so far you are not a burden to your parents.
CareerRe: I Am Approaching 40 And Am Scared My Dreams Are Not Realistic by TT20: 2:15pm On Apr 28, 2023
greatopec:
Good day Nairalanders
I will be 40 on Oct 19 this year and I am scared the kind of life I have always desired may not be
achievable. Let me list these things that worries me so that you can probably advise me or assist me in achieving any of them.
1) By 40 I had wished I will be living in my house with cars in my garage
Current situation- I am a salary earner who eagerly waits for the salary to drop before my family can eat conveniently every month.
2)I love cars and driving. Was thinking of getting a good car for Uber business.
Current situation- I have not been able to gather enough money to buy a car for Uber or personal use.
3)Seeking greener pasture abroad.
Current situation- I have not been able to have enough disposable income to even get a passport to start with in the first place.
4)Self development. I had interest in programming so I decided to learn coding and all that. I started with free code camp and also this thread by iyenimofe on nairaland has been so helpful https://www.nairaland.com/1383359/learn-web-design-live-nairaland/6#17571611
The issue I have progressing is that of enough data subscription to watch more tutorials.
5)Acquisition of at least Masters.
I have a passion for learning and self development but I struggled to have my HND with distinction. Gathering enough funds to start my masters program has been an uphill task.

Little about my background
I am an HND graduate
I have a sister who am responsible for also.
I have a wife and two kids.
I work 8-5weekdays
Ok
AutosRe: Mercedes Vs BMW Vs Audi: Which Of These Car Brands Is GENERALLY Most Reliable by TT20: 1:20pm On Apr 26, 2023
Those brands you mentioned, especially Audi and bmw, are not popular in the southern Nigeria. And I am sure most comments here are from that part of the country. I drive a 2008 bmw x5 presently, having sold the previous ml350, 2008. I can confidently tell you that, bmw, the x5 I'm driving now, has a cheaper parts than the ml350 of the same year. The Mercedes has more mechanics than the bmw. The 2008 Audi q7 has the cheapest parts but mechanics na wahala.
However, if I'm to choose among the recent models, 2014 upward, definitely it is the Mercedes. They all have expensive parts and same with the mechanics because at that level any mechanic without the particular brand diagnostic tool shouldn't go near your car and they are rare.

did you change battery recently? If yes, did you register it? Else, your Ibs sensor may be bad. To test, temporarily disconnect it from the negative terminal of the battery.
Hi bros, glad to get your reaction to the issue. I didn't change battery. I changed the ibs but the codes are still there. There's no check engine light but the codes are seen anytime I scan the car, (apparently it is a bsd code) Well, I have been driving the car that way, and it's still running fine. The battery is still great and the alternator still efficient.

Modified: I read your post again. I will disconnect the ibs temporarily, and check. Thanks bro

Ignore that dude.
I have the 09 cls550 and 2015 variant, and I can give you first hand experience, not hearsay.

I'm assuming you're looking at the 2009 generations downwards.

Things to look out for....
The engine is almost indestructible, with the 304 hp(cls500) always roaring when you need it.

The airmatic suspension gives you this buttery riding experience.
My older cls550 still turns heads.

Cons.
The transmission is fragile, so you need original fluids.
If you can, replace the airmatic to regular struts.

I've had mine for 3 years now, and I've not had issues other than the regular oil change, once in 6 months, and minor suspension replacements.

YOLO.
Thank you bro.
