Please I need help. My 2007 bmw X5 e70 , 6 cylinder, overheats. That's, I got the drive moderately engine hot message. It started a week after I changed the radiator. The previous radiator has leakage. I scanned the vehicle and I got the 2e8b code (intelligent battery sensor). Could this be the problem? Please help don't ignore.

Modified: I tested the water pump now. It's not working. Could it be the fuse/relay. Where is the water pump fuse or relay?
.

Replace water pump.... I see you've sorted the issue.

My bmw e46 323i 6 inline cylinder seems to be having an issue.. I notice after moving some kilometers my car won't speed past 145km/hr no matter how hard I press the gas pedal. Even if I press the gas to the bottom low. It won't just pick. And some times it might not be up to that 145km/hr, it won't just pick. Some times if I'm about to overtake instead for it to pick up fast it won't just do that... It will be sluggish. Please what can be the cause.

I have always admired German cars from a distance. Most especially, BMWs.
My cars have been japanese. Toyota and Honda. My last car was a Honda Evil spirit. That car was a beauty. Sad to let her go.

Today, I became a proud owner of a 2007 BMW E60 525i.

You got the infamous N54 engine.
Make sure you stay up to date with maintenance and as often as you can, use octane boosters.
Although it's one of the marque's most potent engine, it can cause you heart and wallet ache if you're not up to date with preventive maintenance.

Why is it infamous?

What are the pros and cons?

If the engine is not good, why did BMW create and put it there?

Can another engine work?

Infamous because it is loved by petrol heads who love to run tunes for increased performance and loathed by regular users due to the peculiar failure of certain components.

Pros: you can easily crank out 450hp with slight modifications, con: you can't afford to fail with maintenance

Don't get me wrong, the engine is good, but it's BMW's initial foray into turbo charged engines for the 5 series. so, it's only normal that there'd be a couple of gremlins.

I can find out if the engine can be swapped. if it can, what you'd need to get will be the N55 which if I'm not mistaken, should be in the neighborhood of N3m right now

Apologies. I meant to say 525i.

I have modified the post.

Do you think I need to upgrade anything?

The car is low. Should I increase the ground clearance by adjusting all suspensions? Will it negatively affect drive quality?

My iDrive works but I cannot connect to the car Bluetooth.

The vehicle starts smoothly and runs smoothly too. Really really silent engine both internally and externally. If I don't horn, you would never know the car is on.

So I have a few questions.

I come from a Honda and Toyota background and I am used to seeing the temperature gauge. On this BMW, there is no temperature gauge. I have googled and watched a couple of YouTube videos but what they are saying does not make sense to me.

Recomended Oil is Castrol from the manual. I am tempted to ask. Can I use Mobil 1?

When servicing, do I change the 6 plugs too? The previous owner said he changes all plugs when changing oil. I never used to change plugs when servicing my Honda or Toyota.

The tires are fully gauged but the tire pressure light is still on. Any help?

Also, when I drive without wearing the seatbelt, it chimes on the iDrive. When I wear the seatbelt, the chiming stops but the seatbelt light stays on on the dashboard.

The only lights on my dashboard are tire pressure which is amber, Seatbelt which is red even when I put it on and airbag light which is also red.

Any help or pointers? I really want to treat this car like the baby that she is.
Anything to expect from the ride

I want to put it on a proper highway like Lagos-Ibadan and feel its raw power but I don't want any sudden problem coming up unexpectedly.

Feedback and comments are welcome.

Run a full system scan to catch any hidden code.

Run a full system scan to catch any hidden code.

Thank you.

I was able to get an Engineer whose specialty was on Mercedes, BMW and Audi. These were the only cars parked at his workshop. Beastly cars i tell you. Saw some mad ass AMGs and Audi Q7's. He ran a scan.

I did a full servicing using the recommended Castrol 5W30.

The issue with the iDrive is software related and i have engaged a friend to help with an update.

On Ground clearance, the Engineer warned me severely not to increase the shocks citing driving instability and aesthetics as reasons. I quite agree with him.

On Tire Pressure, one of the sensors was bad. After getting a new one, the tires were reduced to the recommended psi and the light vanished.

On Seatbelt light, the sensor is bad. This was replaced too. My Dashboard is clean and clear and devoid of any light.

Yesterday i took it to a carwash to do a deep cleaning and vacuuming.

Whenever i drive, people turn to have a second look. One said 'Oga, na machine you carry so o.' grin

It is not everyday you get to see a sleek, silent and fully tinted BMW on the road

Everything is set and i cannot wait for this new driving experience!
