In Tinubu's desperate effort to use Buhari as a ladder to Nigeria's Presidency, Tinubu praised Buhari even when it was glaring to everyone that Buhari was making costly mistakes, Tinubu and his supporters continued to praise Buhari as the best President Nigeria ever had, and even made it a duty call to antagonize and attack Southeasterners that tried to criticize or point out Buhari's leadership failures.


2023 finally came, Buhari was not convinced to fully back Tinubu to succeed him as President, Buhari had preferred candidates in the South, but his wife Aisha whom Tinubu bought through the mouthwatering donation he made at her launching a year before Buhari's end of tenure, worked so hard to use emotional blackmail to weaken her husband Buhari's decision not to back Tinubu.


We learnt that Aisha made Buhari to understand that it was not good for him as a Muslim not to repay Tinubu back after Tinubu supported him in 2015, Buhari had to yield to his wife's emotional appeals and reluctantly agreed to help Tinubu emerge.


Enters Mallam Nasir El Rufai the then vocal Kaduna State Governor who out of his personal ambition to become a running mate to any Southern candidate APC picked, swung into action when former Senate President Ahmed Lawan and his APC caucus including current Governor of Imo state, Attorney General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, Adams Oshiomhole, Orji Uzo Kalu and many others hijacked the APC Primaries and had nominated Ahmed Lawan as APC's consensus candidate, El Rufai came to Tinubu's rescue by disagreeing with them and insisting that the Presidential ticket must be zoned to Southern Nigeria for equity and fairness. El Rufai quickly rallied all the APC Northern Governors to back his call for the ticket to be zoned to Southern Nigeria and that was how Tinubu had his greatest chance to emerge President.


At this point, Tinubu knew that he needed El Rufai in his camp at all cost, so he began a cunning romance with unsuspecting El Rufai who accepted to work with him. Next Tinubu opened the Lagos financial vault once again to buy not just the APC Presidential Primaries party delegates, but the Presidential Primary candidates who stepped down for him and adding their delegates votes to Tinubu's and at the end Tinubu won APC's ticket.



From this summarized run down, one could clearly see the people that made Tinubu President, namely;
