Last year November 10, 2016, Snap Inc. released the first-ever Snapchat Spectacles and since then keen Snapchatters have been queuing endlessly in front of Snapbots to lay their hands on one. Among the spectacular users of the Spectacles was a UK doctor who filmed a surgical operation live with it; and DJ Khaled, now regarded as the Snapchat king, got one for himself. But starting from yesterday (20th of February, 2017) if you want to buy the Spectacles, you need no longer queue in front of Snapbot vending machine again; you can now order the Spectacles online. At present Snapchat Spectacles ordered online can only be delivered within U.S., and also the maximum number of Spectacles that can be ordered by a household or a billing address is 6. We hope Snapchatters from other countries will be able to get the Spectacles too very soon. So if you are living in the U.S. or have a way to order stuff using a U.S. address, the steps below will take you through how to order Snapchat Spectacles online. How to Order Snapchat Spectacles Online To get Snapchat Spectacles online, you need to proceed to the Spectacles’ website and place your order. The spectacles itself costs $129.99, but extra charges, $5.99, is required for shipping, making $135.98. The steps to placing the order are as follow: * Visit the Snapchat Spectacles’ website. * On landing on the homepage, tap on your desired colour out of the available three colours, represented by three round balls. * After tapping on a ball to choose your colour, tap on ADD TO CART: On tapping ADD TO CART the checkout page will load. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/1-6.jpg * On the checkout page, tap on CHECKOUT to continue the checkout of your carted Spectacles or tap on CONTINUE SHOPPING to add more. You can add up to 6 Spectacles. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/2-6.jpg You may also want to scroll down on the checkout page to add other useful accessories to your cart. On the Extra Accessories, you can add the Charging Case, which costs $49.99 and the Charging Cable, which costs $9.99. Buying the Charging Case isn’t necessary, but I don’t think it’s a good idea not to buy the Charging Cable. But for the purpose of this post, I will continue with only ordering the Spectacles, without the accessories. * Since we are doing only the Spectacles, tap on CHECKOUT: this will load a sort of a form page. * On the form page provide all the required information and tap on CONTINUE TO SHIPPING METHOD. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/3-6.png * The next page loads, with the cost of your order changing to $135.98 (meaning taxes have been added to the $129.99 cost price). Also on the page you will see the $5.99 shipping cost of your Snapchat Spectacles. * Tap on CONTINUE TO PAYMENT METHOD. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/4-5.jpg * On the loaded page input your card details, supply a promo code if you have one, accept the Privacy Policy and tap PLACE ORDER to place order on you: the final cost of ordering the Snapchat Spectacles online is $145.33, when the taxes and the shipping cost have been added. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/5-4-e1487666704246.png After placing your order your Snapchat Spectacles will be delivered within 2 – 4 weeks. Now that Stealing is Corruption in Nigeria, whistle-blowing has been adopted as one of the means of fighting this cankerworm plaguing our country. As a whistle-blower for EFCC, you will be acting as an informant for the anti-graft agency. And of course, there is a reward: you get between 2.5% – 5% of the recovered fund, when your whistle helps in tracking and apprehending looters. According to a recent news $160 million and N8 billion have been recovered within two months of launching this programme, with the information leading to the recover of these moneys provided by three whistle-blowers. The success of the programme within this short period of time is ascribed to the use of ICT. Whistle-blowers don't visit police station or even EFCC office to make a report. They simply use an online whistle-blowing platform designed by the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF). This platform allows submission of tips on fraudulent transactions, thereby making a tip submitter blow foul-play whistle against government officials, without the risk of being known. If you also want to take advantage of the platform and blow against corruption in Nigeria, proceed as follow: How to Use the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF) Whistleblowing Platform * Access the platform by going to http://whistle.finance.gov.ng/ * After landing on the homepage click on Submit Tip. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/a.png * On the Submit Tip page, choose the Type of organisation you want to blow your whistle against: either a Ministry, a Department, or an Agency. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/b.png * After selecting the type of organisation, select the Organisation Name, from the drop-down menu. * Under Type of Tip, click to select the category of the fraudulent activity you want to report. There is also an option you can use to specify, if the category isn't on the provided menu list. * Under Branch/Address of Organization, you can provide the specific address of the organisation involved. * Under Date of Concerned Transaction, you will put the date of the transaction in which the fraud was committed. * Under Description of Tip, you will give the full description of how the fraud was committed. The above are the vital information that a whistle-blower needs to submit. All other parts of the form can be left out, if the whistle-blower worries about his identity. The amount of money involved in the fraud and other supporting documents to backup the information provided can also be filled in, on the page. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/c.png * After filling all the important parts of the form, click Submit to send your provided information to FMF server. If you don't want to do form stuff, you can put a direct call to 09098067946, Monday - Friday (10:00am to 3:00pm) except on public holidays, or send an email to whistle@finance.gov.ng Checking Tip Feedback To check the feedback of a submitted tip, do as follow: * Click on Tip Feedback. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/d.png * On the Tip Feedback page, type in the reference number given to you after submitting a tip. * Then click on Search to see the feedback of your submitted tip. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/e.png Becoming a whistle-blower helping in the fight against corruption in Nigeria is as simple as that. Both writing and researching are skills; infact excellent writing skill is one of the most desirable skills wanted by employers. |
Webcam hack is a less popular hack compared to other forms of hacks. In the realm of the computer science, they called it Camfecting. And since most laptops now come with a webcam, we are all vulnerable to camfecting. Theoretically, hacks on a webcam are done through installation of a malware called RAT (Remote Access Trojan) on a victim’s computer. On a successful installation of RAT on a victim’s PC, the hacker can then remotely turn on the webcam of the victim. What makes this hacking a big deal is that the hackers can take the pictures and the videos of victims, without their knowledge. Consequently to secure your webcam from spies and hackers, I recommend you follow the tips below. Tips to Securing Your Webcam From Hacks 1. Always Enable Your Firewall. Firewall is one of the inbuilt immunity in Windows OS, and by default it comes enabled. Most us of disabled it because some shady applications asked us to do so. However if you ever want a secured privacy, your Firewall must always be on. When a PC firewall is on, it monitors all incoming and outgoing network tariff and blocks malwares. To check your Windows Firewall status, go to Control Panel, then System and Security. Under Windows Firewall, click on Check firewall status. On the options available at the left-hand, beside the Windows Firewall, click on Turn Windows Firewall on or off. A green shield icon indicates Firewall is on, while a red shield indicates it’s off. NB: If you are using some powerful paid antiviruses like Norton, kaspersky and the likes, they would lock your Windows Firewall and take charge of the setting. 2. Don’t Open Unsolicited Attachment. In most cases hackers don’t have physical access to victims computer; their greatest weapon is email. So as I suggested in how to not be a victim of stolen password, never open anyhow attachments. When you receive an attachment you don’t trust, don’t open it; just trash it straightaway. 3. Scan Your PC for Malwares. Antiviruses are effective in dealing with viruses but with malwares, they tend to struggle. Well that’s not their KPI! But since RAT is a malware, installing a good antimalware that augments your antivirus is a brilliant decision. I don’t know much antimalware, but I recommend Malwarebytes. It’s effective. 4. Shut Down & Close Your Laptop Lid When Not in Use. No matter how skilled a hacker is, his RAT wouldn’t work while a computer is shut down. If by magic it works, he wouldn’t see anything when the computer lid is closed. I don’t think RAT is powerful enough to open a laptop lid, power it on and also power on the webcam. 5. Be like Mark Zuckerberg. A picture of Mark’s personal workstation shows that he taped a black tape over his laptop’s webcam. Obviously he didn’t put it there for decoration. The black tape ensures the webcam isn’t seeing anything even if it is compromised. One disadvantage of Mark’s style is that the gum of the tape may, overtime, smear over the webcam; therefore you may want to consider buying webcam blocker. 6. Watchout for The Blue LED light: It is a Red Flag. Common in most recent laptops, when the webcam is on, the LED light beside it shows blue light to indicate that the webcam is active. So if you aren’t Skyping or taking selfie on your laptop and this LED light flashes you, you should be wary and act fast. Someone might be remotely in charge of your webcam. Bad news: hackers now hijack webcam without any indication from the LED light beside it. 7. Update Your Browser. Any outdated software, including browsers, is vulnerable to hacks. And no thanks to HTML5, most websites nowadays can detect and access devices on a computer, including microphone and webcam. In the hand of hackers, HTML5 is used to design malicious website that can infect computers. Updated antivirus, antimalware and browser would be powerful enough to secure you against such malicious website. Even though hackers and spies are always thinking of new ways to be better bad guys, you can always secure your webcam by following the recommended tips in this post. Wikipedia is arguably the biggest online reference resource, and when we read its pages we sometimes want to have a copy for offline purposes. The widely used but ineffective method is to copy the texts on the Wikipedia page and paste it into a word processor. What you get from that are disorganized texts that require endless alignment and justification. But if you download the page as PDF, the texts rearrange themselves into a from good for copy-paste and easy to read like a portable document. Converting or downloading a Wikipedia page into PDF is fast and easy, and here is how to go about it: How to Download Wikipedia Page to An Ebook (PDF) * Find your way to the Wikipedia page you to download as a PDF: I found my way to Human Evolution. * Scroll down a little on the Wikipedia page and find Download as PDF. This option is located in the left-hand column beside the main article write-up, under the Print/export option category. * When you locate the Download as PDF option, click on it. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/2.png?x73107 * Allow the page to render into PDF. * After the rendering of the page in to PDF, you will see a message that displays Rendering finished and also displays a click-able download link. * Click on Download the file. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/4.png?x73107 Most times, clicking on Download the file will take the file down to your local disk; however in some cases the Wikipedia article, instead of downloading, will open as a PDF document within your browser, like the image below. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/6.png?x73107 * To download the PDF from you browser, hover your mouse over the PDF. This will bring out some hidden options on the PDF page. * On the displayed option, click on the download icon and you are done. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/7.png?x73107 Source: http://howtotechnaija.com/wikipedia-pdf-ebook/ |

babarazy:Detailed analysis of Airtel tariff plan is now on Airtel Tariff Plans: A Guide to Choosing The Best Plan That Suits You |
Last week I analyzed MTN tariff plans and also gave my recommendation on choosing the best, based on the benefits, the flaws and the alloted call time on each tariff plan. Today I will be taking on Airtel and providing insight on its tariff plans. From my research I discovered that there are five (5) Airtel tariff plans, but, I'm sorry if any Airtel staff is reading this, to me Airtel has 4 + 1 tariff plans. I call the number of the plans 4 + 1 because the main tariff plans are four (4); the supposed fifth plan (SmartTRYBE junior) is designed for communication between kids and their parents. It is not a regular plan that anybody will want to migrate to. Moreover, Airtel didn't put call rates and other yardsticks used in measuring call charges on SmartTRYBE Junior. Therefore, I excluded the plan in my analysis. Like I did in analyzing MTN tariff plans, I have left out the 10MB/15MB data bonus given to subscribers for recharging the first time in a week. My reason remains the same: this data is insignificant in this smartphone age. Also I will also be using ₦100 and ₦200 credit in my analysis. Now let's start taking Airtel tariff plans, one by one, dissect them and see what is really in, for you and me. SmartTRYBE The Benefits * Call rate at 11k/s to all networks. * 1GB data for ₦500. Valid for 7 days. * Night browsing: ₦25 for 500MB, valid between 12 a.m. – 5 a.m. * No daily access fee. * No awkward first minute charges. The Flaws * No defined call rate for international calls. The Math https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Airtel-SmartTRYBE-tariff-plan.png ₦100 gives 15 minutes 9 seconds, and ₦200 gives 30 minutes 18 seconds on SmartTRYBE. Migration code to SmartTRYBE is *312#. SmartVALUE The Benefits * International call rate at 20k/s to USA, Canada, China, India and UK landline. * No daily access fee. * No awkward first minute charges. The Flaws * Call rate at 15k/s to all networks in Nigeria. * 1GB data for ₦500 not available. * Night browsing not available. The Math https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Airtel-SmartVALUE-tariff-plan.png ₦100 gives 11 minutes 6 seconds, and ₦200 gives 22 minutes 13 seconds on calls to all networks within Nigeria. ₦100 gives 8 minutes 19 seconds, and ₦200 gives 16 minutes 39 seconds on international calls. Migration code to SmartVALUE is *314#. SmartTALK The Benefits * Call rate at 11k/s to all networks. * International call rate at 20k/s to USA, Canada, China, India and UK landline. * No awkward first minute charges. The flaws * Daily access fee of ₦5. * 1GB data for ₦500 not available. * Night browsing not available. The Math https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Airtel-SmartTALK-tariff-plan.png ₦100 gives 14 minutes 24 seconds, and ₦200 gives 29 minutes 30 seconds on calls to all networks within Nigeria. ₦100 gives 7 minutes 55 seconds, and ₦200 gives 16 minutes 15 seconds on international calls. Migration code to SmartTALK is *315#. SmartPREMIER The Benefits * Call rate at 11k/s to all networks in Nigeria and to USA, Canada, China, India and UK landline. * No daily access fee. * Receive free roaming call up to 500 minutes per month. The Flaws * First minute call charged at the rate of 40k/s. * 1GB data for ₦500 not available. * Night browsing not available. The Math https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Airtel-SmartPREMIER-tariff-plan.png ₦100 gives 12 minutes 31 seconds, and ₦200 gives 26 minutes 31 seconds on both local and international calls. Migration code to SmartPREMIER is *318#. SmartTRYBE Junior As I have earlier stated, this is a special tariff for parents and their kids. SmartTRYBE Junior tariff gives students in primary and secondary school an access to an educational app which helps in their studies. By reading through the benefits, the flaws and the math of each of the Airtel tariff plans, you would have noticed that SmartTRYBE is only for calls within Nigeria. Compared to the other tariffs It doesn't have a defined call rate for international calls. But in order not to cheat yourself if you do both local and international calls, you need to look closer at the call rates of these other three plans and also consider your local-international calling behaviour. SmartVALUE: ₦100 gives 11 minutes 6 seconds (on local calls), 8 minute 19 seconds (on international calls). You might want to consider this plan, if a reasonable percentage of your calls goes abroad. SmartTALK: ₦100 gives 14 minutes 24 seconds (on local calls), 7 minute 55 seconds (on international calls). You might consider this, if your local calls are significantly higher than international calls. SmartPREMIER: The rate of international and local call on this tariff is the same. 12 minutes 31 seconds for ₦100 is awesome. And if the people you call abroad finally ask you to come over, you get free roaming call of up to 500 minutes in a month. You might consider this plan, if both your local and international calls are sharing almost 50-50 percent. Choosing the best Airtel tariff plan is trickier compared to MTN, but I hope I have been able to give you some insights into the call time for each tariff. And as for my recommendation on these tariff plans, I recommend you chose between SmartTRYBE and SmartPREMIER. SmartTRYBE if you don't have business calling abroad, and SmartPREMIER if you regularly do both local and international calls. Source: http://howtotechnaija.com/airtel-tariff-plans-choose-the-best/ |
asuustrike2009:Yea MTN Zone depends on area, and during its heyday you don't get 40k/sec. It was at a point in the time past that everything changed to worst, and now MTN has stopped the tariff. |
hayzed1090:Send NIGHT to 131 |
babarazy:I will see what I can do about that bro. |
Over the years MTN has introduced and reintroduced lot of tariffs, and with each tariff presenting ambiguous and ‘sugar-coated’ offers, most of us end up settling for the one that doesn’t fit our lifestyle. And after using the tariff for a couple of months and a friend or a colleague tells you how he usually gets 21 minutes for ₦100, you want to change to his tariff without considering weather it suits your style. You keep migrating from one tariff to the other because you don’t find contentment in one. The fact is, MTN tariffs are not designed the same way. A tariff that is perfect for Mr. A might not be perfect for Mrs. A; therefore no one can categorically say one tariff is better than the other. MTN itself is not helping in the way it presents the benefits of its tariffs, making it hard for subscribers to know the one that suits them. So in order to shed more light on the grey areas in MTN tariffs and help you choose the one that is best fit for you, I have brought all MTN tariff plans together, presented their pros and cons, and analyzed the total call time for ₦100 and ₦200 worth of credit. The results from my analysis were then used in making conclusion and recommendation that will guide you to selecting a tariff that complement your calling behaviour. If you find my analysis confusing, just skip to the result, which I have put in a red box for each tariff. Ready to explore the grey areas in MTN tariffs with me? If yes follow me and let’s get started step by step. MTN tariff Plans, Pros, Cons and Analysis NB: I excluded the 10MB data given on first recharge in a week on some tariffs. I did this because I don’t think this data is significant in this smartphone age. MTN Pulse The Pros: * Flat call rate of 11k/s to all networks in Nigeria. * ₦25 for 500MB data, usable between 12p.m. — 4a.m. * ₦500 for 1GB data, valid for 7 days. * Share and sell is available. The Cons: * No credit bonus on recharge. * No defined charges for international calls. * First 50 seconds on call in a day are charged at 20k/s. The Math: https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Pulse.png With Pulse you get 14 minutes 28 seconds for ₦100 and 29 minutes 37 seconds for ₦200. Migration code to MTN Pulse is *406*1# or text 406 to 131. MTN BetaTalk The Pros: * 200% (3 times) bonus on recharges starting from ₦100. * No first call charges. The Cons: * Call rate to all networks at 40k/s. * Share and sell not available. * ₦25 for 500MB night data not available. * ₦500 for 1GB data not available. * No defined charges for international calls. The Math: https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/BetaTalk.png With BetaTalk you get 12 minutes 30 seconds for ₦100 and 25 minutes for ₦200. Migration code to MTN BetaTalk is *123*2*6# or text BT to 131. MTN XtraPro The Pros: * Call rate to all networks at 11k/s. * Share and sell is available. The Cons: * No bonus credit on recharge. * ₦5 charges before you can enjoy the 11k/s rate. * ₦25 for 500MB night data not available. * ₦500 for 1GB data not available. * No defined charges for international calls. The Math: https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/XtraPro.png With XtraPro you get 14 minutes 24 seconds for ₦100 and 29 minutes 30 seconds for ₦200. Migration code to MTN XtraPro is *401*1# or text 401 to 131. MTN XtraSpecial The Pros: * Call rate to all networks at 15k/s. * Call to some selected international countries also charged at 15k/s. * No daily access charges. * Share and sell is available. The Cons: * ₦500 for 1GB data not available. * ₦25 for 500MB night data not available. The Math: https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/XtraSpecial.png With XtraSpecial you get 11 minutes 6 seconds for ₦100 and 22 minutes 12 seconds for ₦200. Migration code to MTN XtraSpecial is *408*1# or text 408 to 131. MTN TruTalk The Pros: * 150% bonus on every recharge starting from ₦100. * MTN to MTN call at the rate of 20k/s. The Cons: * MTN to other networks at the rate of 26k/s. * ₦25 for 500MB night data not available. * ₦500 for 1GB data not available. * No defined charges for international call rate. The Math: https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/TruTalk1.png With TruTalk you get 20 minutes 48 seconds for ₦100 and 41 minutes 42 seconds for ₦200 on calls from MTN to MTN. https://howtotechnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/TruTalk2.png With TruTalk you get 16 minutes 1 second for ₦100 and 32 minutes 3 seconds for ₦200 on calls from MTN to Other Networks. Migration code to MTN TruTalk is *123*2*1# or text 400 to 131. MTN Zone Couple of years back, MTN Zone used to be one of the best tariffs. At that time you can get call rate as low as 1k/s. The plan later degenerated to 40k/s and people opted out. Even though the tariff is still listed on Migration code (when you dial *123*2*7#), MTN has finally discontinued it. By combining the pros, the cons, and the math of each of the listed MTN tariffs, you must have seen that all the tariffs come with goodies and baddies. However depending on your calling behaviour, one is better than the other; and here is my recommendation in choosing the best for you: * MTN Pulse: this suits you if you are a heavy data user and also make call regularly. ₦500 for 1GB data and 14 minutes 28 seconds for ₦100 are excellent offers you can’t get on the other tariffs. * MTN BetaTalk: the bonus of this tariff is cosmetic. The 40k/s rate kills both the bonus and your main credit; however it is a good tariff to consider if you only call people within Nigeria. * MTN TruTalk: this is best suit for you if 95% of the people you call are on MTN. * MTN XtraPro: this tariff is almost like MTN Pulse; however with the cheap data offers on MTN Pulse, MTN Pulse is better. * MTN XtraSpecial: this tariff is perfect for you, if you regularly do both local and international calls. Now you have the facts (the pros and the cons) and also the figures (the math). The onus is on you to choose the best for yourself. After Nintendo announced the adaptation of Super Mario Run to a mobile game, it released the iOS version, leaving android users to wait for their time. Now, thank heavens: the time hasn't come—but at least it has been announced. According to a tweet on Nintendo's official Twitter account, the game will soon be available for download in Google Play. We were only told the month but no signal on the exact date the game will hit the store. Even though the tweet was posted in Japanese, die-hard lovers of Super Mario Run can still fathom from the tweet that the game will be in Google Play by March of this year. The game is expected to be similar to that currently played on iOS. This means players would be able to play the first three levels free. After the first three levels, you are to pay $9.99 (₦3051.95) to unlock the remaining levels. This payment has sure brought income to Nintendo, but many of the game lovers aren't happy about the charges. Aside the payment, Super Mario Run only runs with Internet connection. If you want to be among the first to play this game when it comes to android in March, you can pre-register on Google Play using this link. At home and office, we login to our Facebook account using multiple devices, and at times we forget to logout. And since Facebook, like other websites, allows accounts to be logged into on multiple devices, there is a possibility that your account is active on an untrusted device you don’t want it to be. For example, you might access your account on your office computer which your colleagues also use. And because of our nature as human, you might forget to logout on this computer, putting you at the risk of privacy violation. Therefore, to save yourself from a possible privacy breach on Facebook, you need to check all where your account is actively logged in and also take action to remotely log out from devices you don’t trust. Change your password: Yahoo suggested this already, and common sense must have guided you to doing this, too. However if you forget or you don’t plan to change your password, please do straight away. Changing your password renders the stolen password hashes useless (in your case). The result of the analysis of the hashes would give the hackers your old password which will be invalid. 2. Delete welcome messages of registrations: When you register on a number of websites, your username and password are sent to your email as part of a welcome message. Access to these kinds of messages by hackers makes you vulnerable to multiple hacks on those websites. Therefore, my advice is, you search your email for welcome messages you received from websites you registered on. When you see these messages delete them. If you are afraid that you would forget the login details in the messages, you can copy them offline or save them to cloud. 3. Ensure inbox messages are not forwarding: If an email is set to auto-forward, all messages entering the inbox would automatically forward to the receiving email. If a hacker has accessed your email before you, he might have set your inbox to auto-forward to his email. So ensure your email is not forwarding to somewhere. To check forwarding settings in Yahoo Mail, click on the Gear Icon, then on Settings, then on Account Tab, then on your default email address, then scroll down on the pop-up window until you see Access your Yahoo Mail elsewhere. Ensure the box below it is unchecked. 4. Enable two-step verification: This allows Yahoo to add extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, a security code would be sent to your phone anytime you or someone is trying to access your mail from a new device. This code will be in addition to entering your account password. To enable two-step verification, click on where you see your name at the top right corner, beside Home. Then click on Account Info—this will open a new tab. On the new tab, click on Account Security, then click on the Switch in front of Two step verification to enable it. 5. Watch out for phishing: Hackers know that most Yahoo Mail users would have changed their passwords after the announcement of this incident. So they need a way to get back valid passwords and phishing is one of the surest ways to get them. Consequently, they would be sending out phishing messages to users—disguising as Yahoo support staff— and asking users to re-verify their new passwords. Be on the look out; ensure the emails you receive about password verification is directly from Yahoo. While access my Yahoo Mail after this breach incident, Yahoo used pop-up windows to notify me that I might have been affected by the hack and then asked me to take some actions. You should see something like that, too. Any email asking you to click a link that redirects you to another website that asks you to input your new password is a red flag. 6. Consider switching to Gmail: Personally I have discarded Yahoo since the days when one will need to fight World War III with CAPTCHAs before you can sign in to your account. All my communications with email is now on Gmail. I think Gmail is easy to use, more secure and its interface is cool. You can even customize Gmail to look the way you want. Moreover, Gmail provides you with some value added services that other email service providers do not. These 6 must-dos are what I advise all Yahoo Mail users to do before it is too late. The first five on the list are the real must-dos that you must do if you like to continue using Yahoo Mail. If you don’t trust Yahoo again, my number six must-do should be enough for you. But while switching to Gmail, make sure you delete messages in your Yahoo inbox and possibly deactivate the account. This ensures nobody would ever access messages in the inbox again. If you are a fan of the game Mortal Kombat, you would have seen some of its adapted movies. Personally, I have seen 3—including a series—and like the game itself, these movies are action-packed and very interesting. But the game's new adaptation by Kumawood, a Ghanaian movie industry, into a movie might be the most interesting ever. Since the movie is Ghanaian, all the casts are black, but this doesn't take the actions and the glamours away from the movie. A thriller of the movie first appears on Kotaku, a news and opinion website on games, and was later shared on OMGVoice, a Facebook group with focus on African pop culture. What I love about the movie after seeing its thriller is, even though Kumawood is regarded as a second hand movie industry that shot on low budget compared to the classic Ghallywood, the producer did a good job with costumes and animations—better than any of the previous MK movies. As shown in the thriller, the fighting moves of the movie characters perfectly match that of the characters in the game. None of the previous movies got the fighting moves as this Ghanaian version did. The thriller of the movie can be seen on http://howtotechnaija.com/mortal-kombat-ghana-kumawood/ I think the full movie is a must see and I can’t wait for the release.

Members of the Facebook team, including CEO Mark Zuckerberg, had their monthly Hackathon today — the last one for this year. At the Hackaton, which was streamed live on Facebook live, Mark revealed some of the cool features expected to hit Facebook in 2017. Here are 4 of the cool features: 1. GIFs in Comments: As defined by online Oxford dictionary, GIF is a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images. They are the moving images, but not videos. With the GIFs in comments feature, Facebook users will be able to search an integrated GIF database on Facebook and use them in comments. 2. Offline Chat on Facebook Messenger Lite: Users of Facebook Messenger Lite in areas of the world with poor Internet coverage would be able to chat on Facebook Messenger Lite without Internet data. These users will use WiFi on their smartphones to chat with others nearby. 3. Location sharing on Facebook Messenger: The feature will allow users to share their location with friends. This feature is also handy in the case of emergence, where it can map users’ location and automatically send to their contacts. Facebook considers this as a advancement on its crisis safety check feature. 4. Shared Album Feature: Come 2017, Facebook will also be using AI to compile and group users photos and videos. By pulling contents tied to a special event, the AI will compile photos and videos related to the event and group put it into album. These are the 4 cool features you should be expecting on Facebook in 2017. In the meantime, let keep our fingers crossed and wait till next year when these features will start rolling in. Your passwords are like keys to your doors. With them, you have access to your valuables. And you don't want it to get into wrong hands -- the hands of the bad guys. These bad guys can be professional hackers or mere spies looking to take advantage of your slacks. An easy way to fall into their hand is by being ignorant of how they work. You must be wise with your digital and electronic footprints if you don't want to enter their traps. Consequently, for you not to be a victim, I have come up with 10 rules to guide you against their shady acts. Rules To Save Yourself from Password Hackers and Spies 1. Go Biometrics: This applies to gadgets. If your gadgets give the option of biometric protection, use it. Some phones, tablets and computers now have fingerprint scanner as part of their security options, please use this scanner to complement your number password. Hackers might guess your 15 digits password (if it is weak), but can never guess your fingerprint. She needs a clone technology for that and thank heaven, this technology is not ready available. Other biometric protection you can use includes voice command and face recognition technology. 2. Avoid ‘Over-simple Password’: Why on earth will someone use “12345” or “qwerty” as password? That is too cheap, easy to guess and ‘over-simple’. Most websites nowadays don't even allow those kinds of passwords. They demand a stronger one. My advice is, when choosing a password, combine letters, numbers and special symbols. You can also capitalize some part of the letter. This makes the password strong; above all, make sure your password is long: the longer, the stronger. 3. Don’t Repeat Username as Password: On social networks and forum, your username is a public credential. Everybody sees it and knows you by it. Using it as a password is a big NO. If your username is Fineboy, your password shouldn't be fineboy or fineboy01 or any simple alteration of your username. Use a distinct password. 4. Use Different Password with Different Account: It is understandable that for the sake consistency, you have the same username everywhere you go on the Internet, but make sure your password is not the same. Making your username and password the same across all websites means break one is break all. If a hacker luckily breaks one account, she has access to all. 5. Password Manager is a Saviour: Going with Rule 4 can be impossible because you are likely to forget your many different passwords. But never with password manager! With password manager, you can save all your usernames and passwords, and never worry about memorizing them. The nice thing about password manager is, it is cloud based and accessible on-the-go on any device. 6. Don’t Click Anyhow Link: Be careful with emails entering your inbox, especially unsolicited ones from strangers. Never open any unsolicited attachment—even if the email comes from someone you know. If an email contains a hyperlink or an anchor text (a word or group of words with an embedded hyperlink), don’t click directly on it. It might be phishing trap; instead, right click on the it, copy the address link, and paste into your address bar. With that, you will be able to see the main link in the hyperlink or anchor and judge if it is relevant to the conversation between you and the sender. 7. Don’t Use SAVE PASSWORD Option in Browsers unless on Your Personal Computer (PC): Browsers do notify us to save our password while trying to log into our account on a website. This gesture from browsers is good if you are on your PC. If you are not, please always reject this offer by clicking NEVER. If you click on SAVE, your password will be saved and the PC admin can access it. 8. Don’t Be a Victim of Keylogger: Keyloggers monitor the keystrokes of keyboard. Hackers install them on victim's PC and monitor victim's keystrokes from remote location. One sure way not to fall for this, is to install keylogger detector and use it to detect and uninstall keyloggers. 9. Install a Good Antivirus and Update It Regularly: Antiviruses not only secure against virus, a good one also helps to block spying eye from snooping your password. So install a good antivirus and update it regularly. 10. Never Tell Your Password: As simple as this rule is, most people don't follow it. Your password is yours and only yours. If you value your accounts' privacy, don't ever share your password with anybody. Be wise; Be guided. Let the efforts of hackers and spies be in vain. It is a norm on Twitter and Instagram: people follow you for reasons best known to them. After a while, some of these followers – also for reasons best known to them – unfollow you. The painful thing is that you might have shown gratitude to this unfollower by following him back at the time he followed you. Now that he unfollows you, his posts keep running among other feeds on your page, but he gets none of yours. To add insult to injury, Twitter and Instragram wouldn’t let you know this guy has unfollowed you, so that you can unfollow him too and turn the game to what some people called you do me, I do you. Worst case scenario happens to people with followers in big Ks or Ms (Thousands and Millions). They don’t easily notice unfollows. But folks with hundreds or tens of followers easily notice this and instantly start wondering who the hell just unfollowed them. In an effort to find this who-the-hell unfollower, they jump to their followers’ list, do some scrolling through to see if they can fish out the person. This method, however, has never worked for anybody. And if you are among the people with big Ks or Ms of followers, you dare not scroll through your massive list. But worry not. I know a way you can use to know any who-the-hell unfollower that unfollows you on Twitter and Instagram. All you need to do for now is to keep reading. How to Know Who Unfollows You on Twitter The steps described in this post are done on a computer, nevertheless the sequence is the same on phones. * Launch your browser and go to https://www.crowdfireapp.com/. * On the homepage, click on SIGN IN WITH TWITER; you can sign in with Instragam, too. * Input your Twitter username and password to login. * After you login, click on Authorize App; a dashboard will load after authorization. * On the dashboard, click on Non Followers. While majority of Nigerians are still expecting 4G coverage in their areas, the tech big guns had already started experimenting with 5G. According to NetworkWorld, work on 5G predates first public deployment of 4G, but the uncertainty about the precise time the network will be available to public makes testers not blow its work-in-progress trumpet. The earliest experiment with 5G network was done by Japan’s NTT DoCoMo and US’s AT&T in 2014, but since then, major experiment hasn’t been done until this year, 2016, when large scale testing begins. Interesting Stats About 5G Some of the interesting statistics coming from the trial of this next generation network includes the streaming of this year’s Copa America video feeds in 4K at a download speed of 4Gbps by Sprint (A US Internet Service Provider) Aside Sprint, some other ISPs have also published massive download speed with their 5G testing and the highest speed recorded stands at 48Gbps, but the bad news about these statistics is that they are only experimental data. The target speed for 5G is between the range of 100Mbps to 1Gbps. You might be thinking that the difference between the experimental download speed and target download speed is too wide. Yes It is! But at its lower band of 100Mbps, 5G network would be 10 times faster than the fastest 4G LTE when deployed. The download speed of Verizon’s 4G LTE – one of the fastest 4G LTE service providers in the world, is between 5Mbps – 12Mbps. 5G Network Release Year If you are one of the people that used to say, ”I can’t wait” whenever you hear about good stuffs coming your way, I am sorry to surprise, you need to wait and be patient for 5G to come. The projected year for its public deployment is 2023, and perhaps it will hit Nigeria before 2030. In the meantime, keep enjoying your 3.5G; alas if your phone is 4G smart, I advise you check your SIM’s 4G compatibility with your network provider and join the world of LTE. Since we believe two heads are better than one, possibly two antivirus programs on a computer should be better than one, too. I have this believe in my first few years with computers. At that time, I used Avast free antivirus and wanted to install another one to complement my computer’s security. I believe having two antivirus programs will make my computer ‘virus-proof’. I believe one good thing plus another good thing always equals two good things. But was I right with that in terms of antivirus? I was almost right but definitely wrong! When it comes to a computer, one antivirus is the best. Perhaps two will be better. But don’t forget that best is better than better. And here are the main reasons two antivirus programs on a computer is a bad idea. Reasons Two Antivirus Programs on one Computer is Bad * Conflicts in Operation: When you install two antivirus programs on a computer, the two will try to perform the same task which is monitoring and securing your computer against white-walkers (viruses). Meaning when a virus enters your computer, the two spring into action at the same time. Instead of killing the virus, the two end up killing each other, making them redundant and their purposes defeated. This is equivalent to not having an antivirus installed on your computer. * Slow Down Computer Operation: This is related to conflicts in operation in that while the two programs are struggling against each other to kill the bad guys that want to infect your computer, they both use a lot of system resources in the struggle, leading to overworking the processor. And when processor is overworked, your computer slows down and enters hanging mode. * Detecting Good Files as Virus: Also as a result of struggle for dominance, the two antivirus programs tend to misbehave. First, they see each others files as viruses and second, they might start seeing windows files as viruses, too. I think the struggle for dominance makes them lose their ‘senses’. Conclusion Definitely, two good heads are better than one, but in the case of antivirus, one good one is better than two good ones. Therefore, I recommend you go for one good one and update it regularly. Trust the one good one and your computer is as secured as a good one. No gain saying Hard Disk Drive (HDD) has been storing our data since the good old days. It is still doing the work effectively today, but their crash stories are always stories that touch the heart and makes it bleed. Thanks to technological improvement, Solid State Drive (SSD) is the latest storage device, and here are the five (5) reasons to put your money on one today: Reasons to Put Money on SSD 1. Data Processing Speed: SSD is the bomb when it comes to rate at which data are read and written. Because the drive works like a flash drive, it doesn’t take time for data to be processed on it. Unlike in HDD where the CD inside must keep rolling every time as the writer/reader head writes and reads data. This leads to slow data processing rate in HDD compared to SSD. 2. Life Span: Also because SSD doesn’t have moving parts, it doesn’t have problem with any of its parts wearing. Wearing occurs when two metals rub each other over a long period of time. Since SSD has no moving part, wearing is no problem and this prolongs its lifespan. 3. Fragmentation: HDD tends to fragment large files after a period of time. This leads to virtual splitting of large files into small fragments and making it difficult for large files to open very fast on HDD. In the case of SSD, this is no problem as data are compacted together. 4. Shock resistance: the main killer of a HDD is shock. When a laptop drops unexpectedly, the recoil force from hitting the ground can crash its HDD. This is because moving parts in its HDD can be displaced as a result of shock. However in the case of SSD, most shocks that crash HDD as a result of falling have no significant impact on it—This shouldn't be a reason to be careless with laptops with SSD. 5. Noise/Sound: this is the least reason to put your money on SSD computer. Noise in most HDD are not so loud that they can cause irritation to ear. But if you want a computer that works without making any noise, then SSD should be your primary storage. It is worth saying that because SSD technology is still relative new, its price/storage capacity is far expensive than that of HDD. So I wouldn’t say you should discard your good HDD, and go and buy SSD. But if you ever have a reason to get a new storage device for your computer, make sure it is SSD.
