KaptainAfrika: 1a. The GNYDM is not fishy at all. This is the 93rd Annual Session. Which makes it 93years since it's inception. It's probably older than most conferences/meeting that easily comes to mind. And as @ebonychic alluded to earlier, it's practically an annual rite to attend every year for a lot of Dentists all over the world - ebonychic has attended twice for example. The way it's organized, due to its all encompassing nature - it covers all aspect and specialties of Dentistry - there is no pre-registration fee. Why? Coz when you get there, you can choose courses and sub-sessions to attend as it partains to your specialty or interest, and now pay for those courses, as they will contribute to your CME points. For example, i am interested in Oral Cancer. You don't pay for a Visa letter (I don't know if other conferences charge for that). 1b. Again I will defer to @ebonychic. The GNYDM is practically a rite of passage for a lot of Dentist. For most of our consultants and Professors while in school, it was the first international conference they attended. You are guaranteed to have heard about it, from your lecturers as a dental student, moreso if you are interested in research. I heard about it from a mentor. 2. I think I had this feeling too during the interview. When he asked "Research?" with a stressed question mark. But, I could only answer the questions I was asked. And I couldn't bring these kind of explanations without a proper context. 3. I can only wish the next interview - if i reapply- gravitates to this line of questioning. I can really explain myself. 4. The conference starts November 24th. My presentation day is 26th. I will check the available interview dates. Thanks for your response. You guys are doing fantastic stuffs here. |

ebonychic18: Yes possibly ties. I am currently a DO, I finished Housemanship a couple of months ago. But this paper I am presenting is one of the 3 studies I did during housejob - my Housemanship was pretty busy eh?. One of which I was supposed to present in Ghana which I couldn't make, but it's published now in an international peer-reviewed journal. Another is currently under peer-review, and the third about to be submitted for publication. I know research in our field is mostly Consultants and Registrars, I just happened to be a pretty early bloomer - at least in the Nigerian context. I am self sponsored, I can afford it, as I have a steady income, and a steady work(It may be my own experience, but I think it's pretty rare for a Dentist to be without work in Lagos). I will evaluate the Abuja option, as it seems to fit well with my schedule. Thanks for your responses. Really appreciate. |

ebonychic18: LOL... Okay the 64k is probably not really a big deal. But na still money. My application was pretty straightforward, not cluttered, everything checked, truthfully. And I think you can relate with this more as a senior colleague, I am a Dentist, I have absolutely no reason to lie. I would have thought we've built such reputation with the US Consulate based on past visits to the US (Especially as you have noted in your post, the GNYDM). Although I must say I am not married yet, that one too. I can't have time to go for another interview in October. I am all tied up. But I am going to Abuja, first week of November to procure my permanent licence, hopefully in time for Batch B 2017 NYSC camp. Do you think it's advisable for me to just schedule an appointment for Abuja within that period? Instead of having to come back to Lagos, maybe second week of November to do another interview which may be too close to the GNYDM itself - which is 24th of November. |

Sebastine1606: I think I agree with you on this. That was what I suspected too. Coz it was until we got to the travel experience part, that his demeanor changed a bit. But of course I can't manufacture a travel experience - since no other exists, as my entire application is true. It's truly a big stage. The Greater New York Dental Meeting is where a lot of Dentists just aspire to attend, talk more of actually presenting a poster. But it's a little disappointing, that may have worked against me. I was to present another paper in Ghana back in August, but I couldn't attend coz of serious work commitments. My co-author was allowed to present in my stead. I really want to make this presentation, as it's important for my future research career goals, although I left the consulate today with basically a firm conviction of not to reapply until I have another important business with the US in the future. Now quite a couple of people are telling me to reapply-even though that doesn't appear sound economically, 64k is not a small money, even for a Dentist . Do you think this is advisable? |

Good morning guys, silent reader here. I just finished my B1 visa interview at the US Consulate in Lagos. My visa was denied. Me: A long while ago as a minor. I was in Benin Republic - Porto Novo and Cotonou. anonymousjbl: For your embryology, I will advise to steer clear of those saddler and the likes, they are geared towards making embryology seem like rocket science, try out the embryology by Indebir Singh, u can thank me later. The textbook will let u realise that embryology is the simplest aspect of Anatomy, and you will actually understand what you are reading. That said, you have the other textbooks for the remaining courses spot on, avoid sembuligam, use more ganong, guyton to supplement you, make Keith more ur go to textbook for Anatomy, but if u really want to know your onions, you must read the rest, Chaurasia and Gray. Sorry this is just coming in, powerbank received in good condition since Thursday, ordered on Wednesday night, and it truly does what it says it does, it didn't take me more than 3-4 hrs to charge it full, and I used it to charge my phone, it charged it quiet fast, and immediately it got to 100% the Pb shut down by itself, to prevent over charging. So I will totally recommend it |

immanuello: I know this phone would be great,i just pray i wont any cause to send any complaint out to my amiable people here.Samsung galaxy s3 is what i first wanted to buy b4 but i look at it specs,i could see that it is too relegated in terms of latest trend in d mobile world and it is still #35,000.So i concluded to buy this great phone with wonderful specs of which some outmatch s3 now as we speak.so i must get Infinix zero gold 16+2gb this week frm konga by fire, thunderstorm and anything freaking force.God has always been good to me to often buy great thing at a steal away price all in d name of massive competition in d mobile world space. If you are a heavy user you will be better off, buying a powerbank alongside though, or get from anybody. Good luck with your phone |

immanuello: pls which type is your,is it the 16gb or 8gb type.Read through what he wrote carefully, you could sense he is not using the phone, at the beginning he said he found out it was ARM cortex A7 not octacore as claimed, towards the end he was bashing the company for putting a 1920mAh to run octacore. DID U NOTICE THE DISCREPANCY? Later he claimed that he put on the H, well the zero am using doesn't have 2G only, it has 2G or 3G, then it has 3G only, cos you don't ever get to put it on 2G alone. but then you can wait on him to tel you his own variant though. |

michaelpac: I bitterly regretted for bought infinix zero, the phone dey hot like fire when on H network and battery dropping faster. This phone is just an inferior. You said the processor is octa core 1.4GHz but to my surprised it is ARM cortex - A7, 1.36GHz installed on it. how will you expecting Octa cores to survived on 1.36GHz processor and 1920MAH battery? This gorilla 3 you claimed it isn't up to it. we Nigerians love cheap device without investigating whether the device is superior quality or inferior quality. I never see this drama in my life, once i on the flash light, the picture will be white like snow. The phone dey hot like fire once i switch on H network on it and battery Dropped faster. I never see any standard company producing octa cores on 1.36GHz processor but infinix was the first i seen. I don't blamed infinix but i blamed Nigeria standard commission who neglected their work. Nigeria is now a home for all inferior products, once the price is cheaper people go for it without investigating whether the device is superior quality or inferior quality. It is poor for this phone to run octa core on 1.36GHz processor and 1920MAH battery. No wonder infinix target Nigeria for launched of infinix zero, since they know Nigeria is a dumping ground floor for inferior products, this phone don't even comes with warranty card means no warranty covered it. VERY soon Chinese company will run octa core on 1.0GHz processor with 500MAH battery. This phone dey hot like fire and battery dropping faster. I do charge twice a day on light usage.I will believe all this things you wrote, only if you publish any evidence to back to back up that claim you made, that this phone is running an ARM cortex-A7 1.36GHz not the Octa core 1.4GHz as written on the box. Your credibility is on the line here bros. Thanks |

If I had listened to all the batterings this phone has received while reading through this thread from fri-sun, I nearly almost didn't order the phone on Sunday. But everybody that saw the phone with me today totally fell in love with it, and I will still re-iterate what I said earlier, the S4 zoom was created to take the same kind of pictures this phone took better today, from a microscope, everybody there was shocked!! |
Phones / Re: Infinix zero discussion thread! by tunsmart: 5:54pm On Sep 23, 2014 |
I ordered my infinix Zero on Sunday night from konga, I got it yesterday morning. The white 16G/2Gb ROM version. i deliberately put in my sim into the SIM1 slot to see what the noise is all about since yesterday I couldn't find any problem. This phone is nearly perfect, nearly flawless, nobody should have any right to complain about the battery, it's being mischievous at best to do such, you saw the phone, you saw all the specs, and yet you saw that it came with a 1920mAh battery boldly written on the box and you bought it and yet you are complaining that the battery is a problem. NO its not an issue, what are you expecting from a 1920mAh battery powering those specs? Just get a powerbank!!! Needless to say that it charged 100% by 4am this morning, removed it from the light source since then, started using it actually from 9am,chatting, pinging, browsing basic things and stuffs in clinic and in class, listened to music, mind you it was on H all through, used it to take pictures from microscopes(It took way better pictures from a microscope than the S4 Zoom), along the line made calls, received calls, and the phone died at exactly 5pm!!!Just got back to the hostel and started charging it. 1 Like |

bumfem:First and foremost, two of the links are repetition of one review, and secondly NONE of the research publications you posted indicated that those consultants were hospital based. All you ve done is to once again show that positions exist, which your respondent showed too with his links but he also clearly showed that they are not hospital based consultants. Also remember, he clearly stated at the beginning of his argument that our health/educational system like our other public systems ar3 modelled after the british's,not after the american system where the plethora of this non-hospital based consultants exist. 1 Like |
