missbon: LOL@ msc is better dan pgd. LMAO@ peeps go for pgd cos of low requirements and grades...hahahha..funny peeps..I advise that no one should base their conclusion on word of mouth. not even school guarantees ur success so Ur success in life is in ur own hands not whichever certificate u acquire. gavinmensah: That should be your own secret, I advice you not to let the VO know, get a pgd in line with ur course of study or a master course better still, then also get the pgd for infotech. When you get to canny go to the place of your choice,Speaking from experience tho.
definitely the VO won't know. Will do as u said. Thanks.

Jijola: Note the alteration in the quote below.
On whether people opt for colleges more than Universities, I may not be able to conclude on this to avoid hasty generalization. However, the merits a College has over a University which may influence one's decision to opt for the former include but are not limited to the following:
1.More Practicum, which gives field experience as opposed to theoretic knowledge associated with University education.
2. Lenient entry requirements, though not applicable to everyone who choses a College.
3. More coop opportunities adding to work experience.
4. More technical specialisations which have better job opportunities, e.g. Welding, drilling and safety are lucrative Engineering areas whose trainings are mainly available in colleges in addition to professional trainings.
5. Colleges offer more Diploma and Certificate programmes which benefit those that want to change fields.
6. College programmes are generally shorter, hence faster 'profit' turn-over. You can start earning money asap.
7. Employers tend to favour college graduates more because the remuneration is somewhat lower than University graduates. This is why there are more openings for college products in most sectors where both sides can work.Note however that this is common only in areas where either party is eligible for the job, and it's not a research/academic one.
8. In the western world, Universities are mainly for researchers/academics while colleges are mainly for technicians and technologists. Generally, there are more industry job openings than research/academic openings.
Hope this lil input makes some clarification.
hmmmmmmm. Considering college then. Am changing field, from mass comm to information technology.

emperoracro: Pls pardon me for referring to u as a guy, am so sorry ma.
Memorial offers M in education via one of their schools of education; but abt the issue of distance learning, pls confirm frm dem if its goin to be online or off campus,if its goin to b online, dem u dnt need a visa for it , and am pretty sure u want to study in Canada physically.
So check Waterloo university. And dia is a plateform for locating schools in canada on cic website its somewhere on this forum, let me see if i can get it for u.
Dnt be frustrated ma, searchin for sch isnt easy.
Then memorial university is ruled out. As for the waterloo university, checked but no info tech. Am not frustrated but it ain't easy. Am highly optimistic though.
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by twaintoy(f): 10:41am On Jul 24, 2014
@emperoracro, sent memorial university a mail last week and ingot this response from them 3days ago.

Thank you for your inquiry. Admission to a program leading to a Master of Education in Information Technology requires a Bachelor's degree (second class or 70% average in last 30 attempted courses).

The deadlines for application are: September 15 for Winter (January) admission; and February 1 for Spring (May) and Fall (September) admission.

The program is offered via Distance.

Never heard of Masters of Education in Information Technology before ooo, don't even understand this. And its offered via distance learning. I don't think I can go with them.

emperoracro: The SOA u ar to submit is btw 4-6Months, and d type of account doesnt matter, all d VO wants to see is u aving enough cash (n make sure u dnt av unexplained huge deposits)
If i may ask
1) Wats ur tuition per annum
2) wats d duration of ur program
Dont forget to add d recommended 10000CAD annual cost of living.
1. Don't know my tuition per annum yet cuz I haven't applied, like I said, am looking at sept 2015 intake.
2. Going for PGD but if I can get lucky to get a school that can offer me a direct masters, would be happy. Had bsc in mass comm with a 2.2, my cgpa is 3.08 but want to go for info tech.
Thanks for ur reply.

emperoracro: Yes u can b ur own sponsor hence u av to use ur own account
Conditions:
- Ur acct must av enough to show u can afford ur tuition n other expenses for the duration of ur studies preferrably
- U must av a home tie (eida landed property, business, family etc)
- Include other properties u av
Talking about the account stuff, if am not using my salary account but using an account I would be saving into, looking at applying next year for sep 2015 intake, what are the requirements I must have to be able to scale through account issh? I hope I have more than enough in the account to carry me through. Or for how long do i need to operate an account before i can tender it for visa app? Just trying to learn few things from peeps who have applied here and gotten TRVs before i start mine. If God helps me save enough for January intake though.

Thank you.
