GAZZUZZ: I might be wrong.
When a vehicle is parked is used on a normal warm day, the gasses in the fuel tank expand. That expansion of gassess is kept under control by the evaporative system.
Now a sittuation where you have a faulty evap valve (in engine bay), on a hot day the only escape route for gasses is up the faulty evap line which is connected to intake.
What happens next is you have an uneven proportion of fuel to air intake side (flooding) more fuel to air. Which results in a longer start only on a hot day. Let me go to my peugeot and get you a pic. Thanks for the swift response. Still couldn't identify it in my engine bay. 406 D8. Or rather what do Kazeems or parts sellers call it in general |

What could possibly be the cause of having to crank the car for a long time to start, when the engine is hot and the weather is hot?
It starts fine in the morning, and other times but once the temperature reaches 90 and the car is under hot sun, you have to crank for quite a while before the car starts.

GAZZUZZ: I explained on another thread previously, but ill explain again.
The fans were wired to (inintion power supply ) directly. To stop an engine from running, you shut down powersupply to engine ecu, coils and any accessories that utilze inition for engine to run.
Fans are usually connected via a series of relays, that way it can be controled (turned off and on) it is also connected to a resistor (not every car), resistor determines speed of fan (slow/fast speeds)
In this particular case, power source to engine ECU and accessories were connected straight to fan (went to jail did not pass go).
With ignition off, fans did not stop spinning, and generated powersupply for a short period of time which kept engine alive.
A fan can actually be reverse engineered to become a small turbine (power generator) Boss, you gave me this advice, I have confirmed its the solution but have not been able to carry it out. The rewires I met says my car system can't be wired such that the fan comes up only when temperature is exceeding 90. What's the way out Chief! Peugeot D8, XU7 engine |

GAZZUZZ: steel gaskets (Multi layer steel) should not be reused. Same with stretch bolts.
When an engine is faced with overheating issues, the mating surfaces (block/head) do not always maintain a smooth even surface.
In some cases the cylinder head becomes warped.
The cylinder head can be taken to a machine shop for resurfacing, to attain smooth surface, but not every mechanic has access to such equipment. (remote areas)
Composite gaskets (paper type) are used in such cases to get proper sealing of the mating surfaces, they are made from either graphite or asbestos. In nigeria its more common to find the graphite type. The thickness ensures that when head is bolted on to the block, it fills up the uneven spaces.
The reason why mechanics do not use the steel type of headgasket after an overheat episode Is because 100per of the time it will result in leaks/loss of compression.
Graphite gaskets are not bad, as long as they are replaced each time engine is dismantled.
I have used graphite gaskets in a lot of vehicles (some running over 7years now) without any issues.
Graphite gaskets are more friendly to use in cases of overheating, and rule out the possibility of leaks after a head job.
In a lot of cases where the block and the head are made of aluminium, after an overheating episode, both surfaces become uneven, and will require extensive work in a machine shop to resurface both surfaces. In a situation where only the head is resurfaced, the uneven block will cause leaks if a steel type is used.
For vehicles like peugeot (newer models) they are sensitive to abuse, the use of paper type of gaskets will slightly affect compression ratio even though quite negligible in most cases.
You get a better compression ratio (manufacturer specs) when you use the steel head gaskets, it is also more tolerant to overheating and will not burn out as easily as the graphite type.
In summary if you want to use the steel type of gasket after an overheating episode.
1. Ensure the head cylinder is properly skimmed in a machine shop.
2. Replace stretch headbolts
3. Properly and evenly clean out the block surface with a sandblock of the right gradient.
4. If block is aluminium dont even bother with the steel type of gasket.
If you cannot go through this process, stick with graphite (paper type) head gasket, it will work, an will last, Get a good brand.

GAZZUZZ: your cooling fan is connected directly to ignition, when you turn off your ignition cooling fan becomes a power generator until blades come to a near stop engine will remain on.
I might be wrong, but its the only logical thing I could think of. Well, the fan comes on when the engine starts running, so what you said made a whole lot of sense. Thank you for the head up. But will that be responsible for the long crank afterwards? |

Oga Gazzuzz,
My car engine runs/doesn't just stop immediately after the ignition is turned of, this brings about hard starting on Start-up.
This I noticed after I added an injector cleaner into the system. This has been on for about 3 days now.
