RASHIDAT Alaka Bolanle, a resident of 21, Alebiosu Street in Ketu, Lagos, could not hold back her tears as she narrated to The Guardian the ordeal she has passed through since she gave birth to little Islamat Alaka, now three-and-a-half-years old. Bolanle said: “I noticed the swelling in her private part when she was three months old. I tried everything possible to prevent further swelling until she was seven months old. Then, I was advised to take her to General Hospital at Agege where we spent three months and the doctor told me that a surgical operation must be done to save her life. I was referred to Ikeja General Hospital, but when I got there in 2012, I was told that the hospital could not attend to my baby due to the large number of patients and that we should wait till 2014. “I took her to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on September 13, 2013 where she was diagnosed with cancer, and I was told that I needed to get money ready for the operation. One of the doctors, Dr. Odukogbe, told me that he could proffer a solution to the problem and that the girl would be given chemotherapy injection once in a week. I spent N40, 000 every 15 days but after spending months with no improvement, the doctor told me that surgical operation was the last resort. An operation was carried out in her swelling private part. Unfortunately, a few months later, her stomach started swelling.” The initial medical report when Islamat was seven months old stated: “The seven months old child present in our hospital today with vulva swelling of three months duration, on examination, there was a large vulva swelling lender 44 and assessment of vulva mass was made. She is, hereby, referred to you for expert management.” Another medical report from UCH confirmed that Islamat was once on chemotherapy injection. A letter with the breakdown of the amount needed to carry out a surgical operation estimated the amount of money needed to N818, 004.00 Bolanle, is therefore, appealing to all Nigerians to help safe her child. She can be contacted on 0816917793. Contributions can be sent her account. By Jide Ajani,Evelyn Usman,Daud Olatunji,& Ifeanyi Okolie Senator-elect, Ogun-East, Prince Buruji Kashamu, was said to have threatened to kill himself if officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) forced their way into his house, yesterday, claiming there was a court injunction against the NDLEA’s action. Some of his friends who claimed to have contacted him on phone between 7 and 9 am told Sunday Vanguard that Kashamu said he would remain indoors till Monday. But the narcotic agency explained that the operatives mandate was to put the politician, who is also the Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the PDP in the South-West, under house arrest pending when he would appear in court on Monday. The NDLEA spokesman, Mitchel Ofoyeju , in a six paragraph statement, yesterday, said: “A special team of NDLEA has confined Ogun State senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, to his Lagos residence pending his appearance in court on Monday, May 25, 2015 to perfect his extradition to the United States. “The agency has commenced extradition procedures against Senator-elect Buruji Kashamu in line with the laws of country. He has been in contact with his attorneys and will appear in court on Monday. “The residence of Buruji was raided by narcotic operatives at about 5am today. Further information will be communicated to the media”. Kashamu But Kashamu’s media aide, Mr Austine Oniypkor, described the siege on his principal’s house as illegal, dismissing the claim that the NDLEA had arrest warrant to that effect. In a statement, Oniyokor said: “ Yes, at about 4:30am, some men, who claimed to be from the NDLEA, surrounded the Lekki Phase 1, Lagos residence of Prince Buruji Kashamu to allegedly effect his arrest following a purported extradition request from the US. “This latest onslaught is a confirmation of the alleged plot to illegally abduct him in spite of the pending suit against this illegality. As a matter of fact, the court has ordered parties in the matter, including the NDLEA, to maintain the status quo until judgment is delivered on Wednesday, 27th May, 2015. “We have confirmed that they do not have a warrant of arrest, just as the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice has said that it did not give any order to carry out this illegality. We have confirmed that this illegality is being designed and executed by Chief Bode George whose wife is the Director General of the NDLEA, all in a bid to score cheap political points. “We urge all well meaning Nigerians to prevail on NDLEA, Chief George and his wife to toe the path of the rule of law and follow due process. Nigeria is not a Banana republic! The United States (US), being the bastion of democracy, the rule of law and due process should not lend itself to this kind of illegality”. Kashamu had, of late, alleged a plot to abduct and extradict to the US to answer drug related charges, citing information leaked to his lawyer by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) close to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/i-am-ready-to-die-than-be-extradicted-to-the-us-kashamu/ |

90 Verses in the Bible say Jesus is not God Compiled by TMAI All four Gospels record Jesus as saying, "Blessed are the peace-makers; they will be called sons of God." The word ‘son’ cannot be accepted literally because in the Bible, God apparently addresses many of his chosen servants as ‘son’ and ‘sons.’ The Hebrews believed God is One, and had neither wife nor children in any literal sense. Therefore, it is obvious the expression ‘son of God’ merely meant ‘Servant of God’; one who, because of faithful service, was close and dear to God as a son is to his father. Christians who came from a Greek or Roman background, later misused this term. In their heritage, ‘son of God’ signified an incarnation of a god or someone born of a physical union between male and female gods. This can be seen in Acts 14: 11-13 , where we read that when Paul and Barnabas preached in a city of Turkey, pagans claimed they were gods incarnate. They called Barnabas the Roman god Zeus, and Paul the Roman god Hermes. Furthermore, the New Testament Greek word translated as ‘son’ are ‘pias’ and ‘paida’ which mean ‘servant,’ or ‘son in the sense of servant.’ These are translated to ‘son’ in reference to Jesus and ‘servant’ in reference to all others in some translations of the Bible. So, consistent with other verses, Jesus was merely saying that he is God’s servant. Additional problems with Trinity To a christian, God had to take human form to understand temptation and human suffering, but the concept is not based on any clear words of Jesus. In contrast, God does not need to be tempted and suffer in order to be able to understand and forgive man’s sins, for He is the all knowing Creator of man. This is expressed in the verse: ‘And the Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the affliction of My people that are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; for I know their pains.’ (Exodus 3:7) God forgave sin before Jesus’ appearance, and He continues to forgive without any assistance. When a believer sins, he may come before God in sincere repentance to receive forgiveness. Indeed, the offer to humble oneself before God and be saved is made to all humankind. ‘And there is no God else beside Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside Me. Look to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.’ (Isaiah 45:21-22, Jonah 3:5-10) Biblically, people can receive forgiveness of sins through sincere repentance sought directly from God. This is true at all times and in all places. There has never been a need for the so-called inter cessionary role Jesus plays in attaining atonement. The facts speak for themselves. There is no truth to the Christian belief that Jesus died for our sins and salvation is only through Jesus. What about the salvation of people before Jesus? Jesus’ death brings neither atonement from sin, nor is it in any way a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Christians claim that in the birth of Jesus, there occurred the miracle of the incarnation of God in the form of a human being. To say that God became truly a human being invites a number of questions. Let us ask the following about the man-God Jesus. What happened to his foreskin after his circumcision (Luke 2:21) ? Did it ascend to heaven, or did it decompose as with any human piece of flesh? During his lifetime what happened to his hair, nails, and blood shed from wounds? Did the cells of his body die as in ordinary human beings? If his body did not function in a truly human way, he could not be truly human as well as truly God. Yet, if his body functioned exactly in a human way, this would nullify any claim to divinity. It would be impossible for any part of God, even if incarnate, to decompose in any way and still be considered God. The everlasting, one God, in whole or in part, does not die, disintegrate, or decompose: ‘For I the Lord do not change.’ (Malachi 3:6) |
