proeast: Yoruba man, last time I checked, your region lies hundreds of miles away from SE. Secondly, we don't share any common boundary with you. So, where is all these trash coming from?
Also, a river emptying directly into the ocean is not direct access to the again? Are you on colos? You mentioned Calabar, Akwaibom etc. Those States are under the North and the North will never allow you guys have access through those States
|
Politics › Re: Why SE Must Build A Seaport Now by Typing: 10:01am On Jun 30, 2023 |
proeast: Abia, Imo and Anambra States all have the potentials to build deep seaports that can berth large vessels comfortably! Before anyone decides to argue blindly, here are the facts on ground about ports in Nigeria and their positions:
1. Ibaka, Akwa Ibom state; 30 miles to Atlantic. 2. Lagos State; 50 miles to Atlantic. 3. P.H, Rivers State; 50 miles to Atlantic. 4. Onne, Rivers State; 60 miles to Atlantic.
Now compare all these ports to those in SE: 1. Osemoto, Imo State; 18 miles to Atlantic. 2. Oseakwa, Anambra state; 18 miles to Atlantic. 3. Obuaku, Abia State; 25 miles to Atlantic.
The most intriguing part is that the designated ports in Osemoto/Oseakwa axis offer the deepest natural ports as well as the closest to Atlantic, thereby making them potentially the most viable and easiest to maintain in Nigeria!
Can you disprove any of the facts above? Or you just want to hate as usual? Your Ships can not pass through any State to get to East. We will not allow that. Besides, I thought you said the EAST has a direct access to the Sea?

mbaise1000: Don't you think that the best thing you should do as one pained by what the op presented is to first disprove him? When the op said that some place in imo for example is nearer to the Atlantic ocean than Lagos, he didn't mean that it's by Land otherwise he failed it, and even if it's by Land, impossible is still nothing, there is a massive difference between half empty and half full, it all depends on who is looking, here in IGBO land, the majority looks at the solutions and not the obstacles, this place will definitely be the way God want it to be and not the way the enemies want it to be, the summary of what the op said is that since there are possibilities of making things better for everyone, THOSE possibilities should be looked at, there is nothing wrong in building more ports in other parts of nigeria, to loosen the burden from Lagos and above all and better still other parts of nigeria need to develope like Lagos, if the other people who claim to be lovers of all and most accommodating people should not support this, what right do they have to call others haters? BTW if IGBO land is land locked as you claim ( though I will still want to know your definition of landlocked) how about the govt build or develop the places which have access to the sea? Or is it only lagos that have access to the sea in nigeria? Who go read this epistle wey you wright?

SE has some of the best access to the sea than most other regions in Nigeria!
Imo and Anambra States have arguebly the best natural ports with closest proximity to Atlantic ocean.
