A six-man gang of armed robbers last weekend attacked an old generation bank in the premises of University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, UNEC, carting away millions of naira from the bank’s Automated Teller Machines, ATM.

It was gathered that two policemen on duty that night were killed while the private guards were tied hands and legs and locked up inside the security room in the bank.

But a lady who was in the company of the private security guards at the time of the robbery sustained gunshot wound.

The incident which occurred barely one month after a similar robbery attack on another new generation bank in the campus, according to sources, has caused fears among residents of the university community.

Sources said the dare-devil armed robbers took advantage of the heavy downpour Friday night to launch the deadly attack.

Said the source: “The robbers came in the middle of the night and shot the two policemen without resistance. One of them died on the spot, while the second policeman died on the way to hospital.

“After that, they ordered the other guards into the security room and tied them together. With this, they operated without hitch and succeeded in removing the three ATM.

“We also learnt that a girl friend of one of the security men was equally shot. I wonder what the girl was doing there in the middle of the night. They are believed to be the same gang behind the same attack on a nearby bank one month ago. It is a strange development because we have not witnessed such criminal activity in the campus.”

Three big holes from where the ATM were removed by the gang were seen when our correspondent visited the bank Tuesday.

The machines were said to have been fully loaded with cash ahead of the weekend withdrawals by customers and this may have attracted the bandits who reportedly spent sometime in the bank without being challenged.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the robbery but said that detectives had swung into action to unravel what actually happened in the bank that night.

Urging residents of the state to remain calm, the police spokesman said the police were on top of the situation.

“We are handling the matter as effort is on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident”, Amaraizu stated.

We gathered that the police is looking at the possibility of an insider involvement more so when security guards manning the main gate of the university that night could not give a clear explanation of how the armed robbers cane into the campus and how they left with such heavy machines without being confronted.

The defectors therefore warned that they would not hesitate to institute legal action against anybody who continued to sponsor advertorials in newspapers to relate them with the old or new PDP and its affairs, saying they were committed to working spiritedly towards the victory of the APC in 2015.

Doma said: “By this remarks, we are calling on the leadership of the APC in the state to dismiss any insinuation meant to ridicule our genuine integration into the party with all our subjects, we remain loyal and committed party members who are ready to use our time, abilities and resources, to work hard in ensuring the success of the party.’’

(Note to replace the mywebsite.com with your own domain name) & you can change the login to anything you want too.

But if this method will be too “techy” for you or you are scared of editing the .htaccess file for fear of messing your site up the then second option I am about to discuss below will be best for you to change your WordPress login URL.

Change WordPress Login URL with Better WP Security:

Note: Always backup your WordPress site before installing any plugins or editing any file.

First install and activate the Better WP Security Plugin on your WordPress site. The plugin works well with WordPress version 3.6 and 3.6.1 (tested by me on these two versions).

After activating the Better WP Security plugin you will notice Security tab has been added to your WordPress dashboard.

Click on the Security tab to reveal its options. Click on the “Create Database Backup” button.
