I went through the school's associate programs, but I didn't see gerontology in the school's list. When I checked the meaning of gerontology, it means the study of physical aspects of ageing, which means you'll be studying the physical aspect of ageing for two years. Did you think about what this gerontology will do for you before selecting it? I even doubt gerontology exist in that school. Sincerely, to the VO, you don't seem like a credible student. At the interview, your story isn't coherent. Your response at the interview also indicates you won't be returning to Nigeria. I'll advise you take a step back, make corrections and try again. Stella03: Good afternoon all,I had my visa interview denied on August 19th at Abuja,I was interviewed by a white lady
VO;I see you’re going to Wayne county community college for an associate degree in Gerontology Me;Yes please VO;what’s your plan after your associate degree? Me;I plan to transfer to Wayne state university for my Bsc and then after do my Masters in Gerontology VO;alright, very good,so what next when you return to Nigeria Me;I plan to start up a retirement home and also work in collaboration with NGOs and I was opportune to attend a conference organized by a very popular NGO COSROPIN on August 14th and it was all we should know about cancer in older persons....... VO:when did you graduate from high school? Me;I graduated from high school 2017 VO;what have you been doing since then’ Me;I did skill acquisition for a year and went for computer lessons for another year before the pandemic then after I lost my dad and things were difficult for us at that point and so as my tradition states as the first girl child I had to stay with my mom throughout the burial process VO;I’m so sorry (pointing to my I-20)who will be sponsoring you? Me;my mom Mrs xxxxx Bleep will be sponsoring me VO;what does she do? Me;she’s a managing director in an oil company in delta state and she’s also currently in charge of my dad’s filling station VO;okay very nice but sorry I won’t be granting your visa please reapply again......
I don’t seem to identify what went wrong. |

Hello guys, If one already has an interview date and the emergency request is no longer available in the cgi portal, can emergency approval be granted by sending mails to the embassy? CelinaAK: I just want to give hope to anyone here. I applied for EA in Abuja about 2weeks ago and I got approved but I was not lucky enough then because the earliest available date then was 17th August, Yesterday I applied to another EA because I still had that on my profile and I got my EA approved again that same yesterday, was not even up to 30 minutes in Abuja and got a favorable date in 11 August. I got two EA approvals in a space of 1 week. Please if you still have EA in your portal, request for another immediately especially if it’s in ABUJA. You meant just get it this time around. If they are yet to respond to you, keep sending emails. They surely do read our emails. |

Two months is enough. Register for the SAT coming up in OCT. send me a pm. I'll recommend some materials for you. I'll give you some. Teecee18th: Thanks guys for your contribution, I just told my mom about the sat and she said she will pay☺️, but will two months be enough time to prepare? |

Toefl is more expensive than SAT. SAT cost about 55K if you register yourself. Toefl doesn't cost less than 80k; Besides, toefl doesn't improve your chances of admission. I believe you already know that fact. It could be you have phobia for math. you are trying to avoid math. It's ok. You have known the requirement; you need to face it. Your Waec is nice. Just conquer SAT! Then, You'll have a good number of schools that will give scholarship. SAT is key to Berea College admission. Sometimes, the school consider IELTS. Don't change the admission requirement to suite you. Teecee18th: You misunderstood me, the school does not require sat, the only reason I wanted to take the sat exam was to maximize my chances of admission, not for funding, I'm trying to minimize my expenses to lessen the burden a little for my mom( she already agreed to pay for my toefl, don't want to stress her with sat), my dad has the money but just won't support unless he sees I have been granted admission or visa ( which they probably won't give me without sat), so my plan is to get admitted first then inform him about it so he can pay the necessary visa application fees and my flight ticket, I'm just confused, I will think about it tho, thanks |

You need SAT for undergraduate application. Register for SAT exam in OCT. Submit your application by deadline. If you decide to better what you already have in WAEC, It means you will likely wait till next 2 years to apply because waec exam will likely take place next year August. The result won't be ready by application deadline. Getting a good score in SAT should compensate for low waec result. Teecee18th: Hi guys☺️ I'm new to this forum and this is actually my first time commenting here, I have a question concerning berea college application, I am planning on applying this year, I have a waec GPA of 3.47 with an A, 4Bs, and 4Cs, and plan on taking the TOEFL test on or before October (deadline is November 30), so my question is, can I be accepted with a GPA of 3.47 (with the lowest GPA of accepted students at Berea college being 3.0, with a 3.54 average), or I should wait till next year and retake waec or take sat.
Thanks for replying in advance :-) |

Congratulations Shadbay: Visa approved at the Abj embassy. (7:30 am appointment) EA approved on 2nd August after waiting almost a month. COA: $29,000 Funding: nil SOA: $70,000 Sponsor: Uncle (Different surnames)
I was attended to by a white male VO. There were two windows active with VOs this morning. One male and one female.
The guy had denied about 7 applicants right before it got to my turn.
VO: Good morning. Pass me your I-20 and your passport please. Me: (I obliged) VO: (types for what seemed like 30 secs) First time? Have you traveled to the US before? Me: No. VO: Okay, first time. And who'll be paying for your studies? Me: My uncle. VO: What does your uncle do? Me: He's a real estate developer and property management consultant. VO: Oh, wow. Do you have his bank statements? Me: Yes (I passed them to him and he perused through it carefully) VO: What do you do? Me: I'm a Hydrogeologist. (I didn't bother telling him where and for how long I have been working. He was fixed on his screen, typing) VO:What did you study for your undergraduate degree? Me: Geology. VO: Do you have any family in the US? Me: No. (while maintaining steady eye contact) VO: So what are your plans after your studies? Me: I will come back and work as a consultant to my state's water corporation. I wish to help tackle water sustainability issues and other critical problems affecting quality of groundwater here in Nigeria. VO: (types for what seemed like an eternity) Okay, I'll be approving your visa. Pick up your passport from your designated collection centre. It might take a week because of COVID-19 rules... I believed this was what he said, that deafness that comes with this paper is not a myth at all
I was fighting to contain my excitement. That VO was on a denial streak and God came through for me. Thank you, Jesus. I had to bone up so the hustlers no go tax me. Lol. One of the security who saw my white paper said I should go do Thanksgiving, that I was the 1st approval all morning after back to back denials. I'd like to point out that confidence is key. This is my second application. I was denied 2 years ago. I came back better, well prepared and more confident. If you were denied, just re-strategize and come back with a stronger application.
PS: Please, who's in Bowling Green State University, let's link up. |

Use google to search for schools without application fee. You can also mail the school, explain your situation politely; they'll grant your request. I applied to 15 schools and I didn't pay kobo for any of them, though it's undergraduate program. I believe you can do same for graduate program. bidemialade43: Please can you name some schools that waive application fee and how can you go about it... am I to mail the school. If yes, can you please tell me alittle about how the body of the mail should look like Your response would really be appreciated !! |

If you have not received I-20 by now, I don't think fall semester is still feasible for you. Most schools resume in August for fall semester. And it takes about 2weeks to receive I-20 from the date it's posted. bunmisoar: Hello everyone, please how true is it that schools in the U.S are no longer issuing I-20. Is there anyone that is still expecting I-20 for this 2021 fall session? My school is Morgan State University and I have sent all the required documents for my I-20 for over a week now but still no response. I have also sent two reminder emails, still no response. Please I'll like to know if there's any other person experiencing this, especially those that got admitted into Morgan State University. Thanks. |

Some schools don't require application fees. Most schools offer application waivers if you know how to circumvent it. dubsy20: Congratulations to the people that got their VISa. I tap into your testimonies. Please I want to ask, for the people that are getting admitted into 4 or more schools, does it mean Application fees were paid for all the schools or are there ways to get Application fees waivers. Thanks |

Congratulation for making it there. Schrodinger1: Congratulations on your funding. Quickly request for a new I-20 reflecting your new status for the PhD program even if it's the same school. You no longer need the I-20 for your MS program. Go throw it away.
You would need to fill in a new DS-160 form (even if your SEVIS number remains constant) and reapply for another interview session. Best of luck.

Also I am married with kids and have all my sisters brothers cousins nephews and nieces here in Nigeria. Also I am a member of ICAN which is my professional family)
VO: How did you hear about this school or was it program (not sure which) Me: My colleague first mentioned Virginia tech to me and upon further research I found out about the MADA certificate that I will receive in addition to my Master of Accounting and Information Systems Certificate without extending my program duration. Your appointment was cancelled on 28th July . Please, have you received new date for visa appointment? JavanElsevier41: Oya o Gurus in the house abeg help me analyse my transcript and make corrections Biko.
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning and how are u
VO: Can I see your documents
Me: Here they are( passes my passport and i-20)
VO: Why are you going to the United States
Me: I have been admitted to New Jersey institute of technology located at 323 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd Newark New Jersey for an Ms degree program in Environmental science with a concentration in environmental remediation and wastewater treatment using Microbial fuel cell
VO: How many schools did you apply to
Me: 6(mentioning them)
VO; Why did you choose NJIT
Me: I chose NJIT because of the structure of it's Environmental science program and how it fits my research interest. Prof Mengyan Li's research on environmental remediation and water treatment using the ABT(Advanced biological treatment) model which involved the use of algae, fungi and bacteria as well as the AOP(Advanced oxidation process) model was of interest to me as it aligned with my research interest in environmental remediation and wastewater treatment using Microbial fuel cells. Also the environmental science program is structured to give students a deeper understanding of the fundamental sciences needed in solving environmental challenges. This in turn gives them the in-depth practical skill, needed in applying the knowledge of these fundamental sciences in probing into the causes of the damages that have been done to the environment, the extent of these damages and how these damages can be reversed.
VO: Why did you choose this course
Me: I chose this course because I want to have a deeper understanding of the environment. I want to be able to focus on analyzing and deducing problems associated with the environment and the effect of man-made activities on the environment. I want to be fully equipped with the adequate knowledge needed in finding solutions to the problems plaquing the Nigerian environmental system so as to be able to protect and preserve the environment.
VO: Why do you want to study in the United States
Me: The US environmental system has contributed significantly to the advancement of the Nigerian environmental system especially in the area of environmental remediation and waste management. This is a system I would love to learn from as I will be fully equipped with the knowledge and practical skill needed in solving environmental challenges associated with the Nigerian environmental system so as to be able to make ground breaking achievements in the Nigerian environmental system.
VO: Tell me about your research
Me: I will be researching on environmental remediation and wastewater treatment using the microbial fuel cell. The microbial fuel cell is a recent technology I will be applying for wastewater treatment that involves the direct extraction of electrical energy from the micro organisms present in the wastewater. This will be done using an electron transfer mechanism which will help to capture the energy directly produced. I will be making use of a graphite rod which would act as an anode and a carbon cloth which would act as the cathode. I'm also going to be making use of a Nafion N115 which would act as a semipermeable membrane as well as a surge tank. The aim of the research is to effectively carry out wastewater treatment while generating electrical energy in the same process, which is a challenge in Nigeria. And also it has a relatively low cost of operation hence it would be very effective for use here in Nigeria.
VO: Tell me about your study plan
Me: The program has a duration of 2 years and Il will be expected to take a minimum of 30 credits with 5 core courses which includes a course in environmental analysis as well as a course in environmental microbiology and 3 elective courses which includes courses in environmental probleml solving and hazardous lwaste management. I will also be taking part in the environmental science seminar and then of course my thesis.
VO: What will this program do for you
Me: This program will give me an in-depth practical skill,as well as sharpen my research, writing and instrumentation skills, which will in turn place me in a very competitive position in Environmental science here in Nigeria, as I will be coming back to Nigeria to take up a full time lecturing job at the University of Benin here in Nigeria as an environmental scientist
VO: What course did you study
Me: I studied geology at the University of Benin and I graduated in 2016
VO: What have you been doing since then
Me: After my graduation in 2016, I took part in the compulsory one year national youth service where I worked as a physics teacher in government day secondary school in kwara State. In 2019 I took up a job as a teacher in Jenas Montessori international School where I taught mathematics, physics and chemistry. As the only science teacher in the school, I taught all levels of the secondary arm from JS1-SS3. I was also Incharge of the school's science club. In 2020 I took up a job as a quarry manager with the Freedom Group of companies where I was Incharge of a quarry. My duty was to ensure safe activities at the quarry. This I achieved by ensuring that all miners adhered to all safety precautions at the quarry and I also ensured that the quality and quantity of products from the mines were not compromised.
VO: Since you are currently running a masters program here at UI, why do you want to run another masters degree program
Me: The United States environmental system has been a system I had always wanted to learn from because I have always wanted to make a ground breaking impact in the Nigerian environmental system but at the time I was not able to locate a supervisor in the United States, who shared similar research interest with me. And I didn't want to be redundant academically. I wanted to keep learning about the environment, hence my application for a masters degree program at the University of Ibadan. But with my admission at NJIT and my connection with Prof Mengyan Li, this would be an opportunity to actualise my dream in making a huge impact in correcting the ills associated with environmental management in Nigeria especially in the area of wastewater treatment
VO: What are your plans after school
Me: After this program I will be coming back to Nigeria to take up a full-time lecturing job in environmental science at the University of Benin, where I obtained my undergraduate degree. As a young man who has so much passion for the academic profession and I desire to get to the peak of this profession, I will be publishing articles and journals that will probe into the causative reasons or causes of damages that have been done to the Nigerian environment in past and in recent years, the extent of these damages and how these damages can be effectively handled. |

Do you need passport to enter Ghana? I doubt Friedpotato: most times you’re told to go back to your country and apply. If you’re not a resident or have valid reason of stay in the new country, it’s not advisable to apply.
Let’s say you’re going to Ghana. Your passport would show your date of entry to Ghana and if the purpose of entry is realized to be the Visa, you’d most likely be sent back. |
