https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/07/28/fashola-tenders-apology-to-lawmakers-over-attack-on-budget/

By James Emejo in Abuja
The Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Friday tendered his apology to the National Assembly over his recent alleged attacks and denigrating remarks at lawmakers over their powers to alter projects in the 2017 budget.
He said he was quoted out of context by the media, confirming THISDAY’s report that he’s likely to blame journalists for his ordeal with the lawmakers.

Politics / Tambuwal & The Art Of Timing …..(opinion) by ubedison: 8:12am On Sep 08, 2014
In politics as in life, timing is everything…………as the Michael Corleone famously puts it in the GodfatherS “politics is knowing when(Time) to pull the trigger”

It is no longer news that Aminu Tambuwal is planning decamp from the PDP to APC.But the problem with the announcement is that it is no news. For more that 3years now Aminu Tambuwal has been the only bat (not to be confused with …… Bola Ahmed Tinubu. BAT) in the Nigerian political landscape: He is neither an APC nor PDP member.

That Tambuwal has been consulting about his political direction for the past 3months from otta farms to Kafanchan, with less that 4 months to the general elections is a clear sign of desperation and an indication that he is suffering from a serious crises of identity.
Tambuwal does not need an Obasanjo nor the gods to guide him, for his options are quite clear and very limited and here are the:

OPTIONS CONSEQUENCIES
1. Decamp from the PDP to APC .....................Loss the speakers position with months to the election.
2. Seek PDP presidential ticket................... He cannot get it.
3. Seek PDP House of Reps ticket.............. He cannot get it.
4. Seek APC presidential ticket. ........He does not stand a chance against,Buhari,Atiku,Kwankwaso….his chances are slim…excerpt by consensus
5 Seek APC Reps, senate or Governorship ticket...... A viable option for him.

Tambuwal indecision and miscalculation in my opinion during the exodus/defection of 37 PDP members to the APC in December 2013 could be his greatest undoing to his political career and his greatest disservice to the opposition. The defection which gave the APC a simple majority of 174 seats against PDP’s 171, with APGA/LP/ACCORD retaining (15 Seat) in the lower house would have allowed Tambuwal with a little deftness to retain his seat as speaker as well as encourage more defection from the ruling party.

With the PDP facing it biggest internal crises since its formation, Tambuwal would have given the APC it biggest political post, a foothold in government, a strategic symbol and made him a rallying point for the opposition and a leading contender for the APC ticket.
Tambuwal procrastinated, entered Muazu as PDP chairman, the biggest political decision Goodluck Jonathan has ever made and all that changed, Muazu has not only reversed the political losses of the PDP,but has been raiding the opposing like Real Madrid for Galacticos leaving Tambuwal only as a mole in the PDP.

As Carl Von Clausewitz famously said in his classic: on war, “it is even better to act quickly and err than to hesitate until the time of action is past”…..for Tambuwal the time to decamp had long past, for his defection now will do little damage to the PDP without enhancing his chances, rather his next step may determine whether he ends up like his predecessors ……Salisu Buhari, Ghali Umar Na’Abba, Aminu Bello Masari, Patricia Etteh, Demiji Bankole….all out of office…all politically irrelevant.
Politics / A Silver-lining For Nigeria………. by ubedison: 4:33pm On Aug 15, 2014
With Boko haram threatening the unity of the country, and now Ebola virus causing panic you would think that the country is on the road to disaster……But wait a minute, great things have been happening of late here in Nigeria………
The National Conference which began some months ago has finally completed it assignment, despite all the skepticism that it will break up the country…
From Anambra to Ondo, Edo, and Ekiti to Osun free and fair elections have been conducted, with no loss of life…..and what is more surprising, with losers congratulating the winners and the winners being magnanimous in victory. And there is more with the introduction of stomach infrastructure into Nigeria politics by Fayose, the electorates are now the new brides at least during the campaign period, with such gift as Aregbesola s odorless fufu, Omisore’s corn etc.

In Lagos LASU students have been able through peaceful protest to get the visitor to the university Gov.Fashola to revert back to the old fee structures removing over 600% fee increment burden from themselves…..

These are the real dividends of democracy not just the infrastructure politicians love to show off..

Also recently Nigeria overtook South Africa as the largest economy on the continent……….

The 24th world Economic Forum took place in Nigeria with world leaders attending despite the security challenges.

Since the introduction of the new Automotive policy, Over 21 companies are setting up assembling plants, building brands such as,Chrysler,Fiat,MercedeBenz,Isuzu,Hyundai,Skoda,Porsche,Kia,Renault,Nissan etc(please see Guardian Newspaper of Thursday August 14th 2014.p19)

Earlier in the year the national team won the nations cup, their first major trophy in 19 years and with an indigenous coach after so many fail attempt, also qualifying and playing at the world cup.

These are some of the good news that has recently come out of Nigeria that easily comes to my mind….you may add yours.

Yes, it not yet uhuru, but Its not all doom and gloom

Politics / Re: Why Is The Obama Visit 'historic'? by ubedison: 3:31am On Apr 14, 2010
It historic because Obama himself is a historic president being the first african-american president and nigeria being the largest black nation on earth,it is a thing of pride, and we should have met him before now, congratulated him and even recieve him here in nigeria.but we didn't have a president to measure up, infact for a very long time we have not had a president that looks responsible, we are now having a man who looks responsible, sensitive and presidential in words and in action-no matter how short the period maybe, and naturally nigerians are positive and optimistic, the world is positive and optimistic about nigeria, and believe me this is the kind of environment you need to attract direct foreign investment and stimulate growth and development.
Politics / Re: Emir Blames Failure In Neco On English Premier League by ubedison: 6:37am On Apr 06, 2010
it really silly to blame the failure of our children on the EPL,when we have not given education it rightful place in our society.
the level of education in the country has fallen and the elite are busy sending their wards abroad, spending huge sums of money that would have help develop infrastructures in our schools
