I would allow my kids to go for sleep over, but that would be after they have been married and the sleep over would be at their husband's house.

Hell no,my 7yr old daughter has had about 8 sleepover since she started kindergarten 2yrs ago,but they all happened in my house and these kids practically invited themselves over, and i am always astonished at how easily their parents let them go,i would never allow my daughter or son sleepover at friends house i can only vouch for myself not anyone else ,you never know what goes on behind closed doors in peoples homes no matter how well you think you know them.

@Ubiaa5,
I quite understand that it is the hair not the weave that should be moisturised which why I want to know how you moisturise the air beneath the weave and with what it should be moisturised with. I also understand it should be done daily, right?
yes it should be done daily, but lightly in order not to cause too much build up,since u cant wash too frequently.african pride has a good oil moisturising braid spray, that is not messy cause all you do is spray and massage lightly.or u can use your regular moisturiser by rubbing little amounts on the tip of your fingers and massaging into your hair.Just try this and see how soft and pliable your hair will be when you take the weave out,you will notice less breakage and tangles.

Liss:
Hmmm, abeg how do you wash, moisturise and condition is in weaves? And what do you use to achieve this?
i am not talking of washing ur weave nessesarily although u cant avoid it,i mean wash your scalp and hair under the weave.in order not to get ur weave tangle especially if u have long straight ones, put it in big braids so you can reach your scalp easily then air dry or blow dry and moisturise ur hair not weave.
Ejadamen:
Thanks so much for the reply. Now I must confess that before I saw your reply I succumbed and fixed a weave for a bash on sunday cry It's a funky afro looking weave though cheesy now I still swim with it but cannot imagine washing, conditioning and moisturising it though shocked,am I really supposed to? I will revert to growing my natural hair after this.

Also I don't understand when you guys say moisturise your hair with a lotion and seal with oil. What do you moisturise the hair with apart from hair cream? huh
i prefer hair lotions to creams as most creams contain petroleom which locks out moisture ond weighs your hair down, whatever you use make sure the first ingredient is water and none of the ingredients is petroleum, lanolin, petrolatum or mineral oil.so moisturise with a moisturising lotion and seal with oil preferably natural ones like coconut, olive oil, shear butter etc.

Hi all, this is a really encouraging thread. I want to begin Riskie's hair program cheesy but what I want to know is this, I swim about 3 times a week and because of that I plaited my hair i.e. cornrows. Can I keep up the hair program with this? Suggestions? Advice?
you can get on the program, the trick to fast and healthy hair growth is to wash, condition and moisturise even if your hair is plaited,in weaves or whatever, since u swim you have to rinse the chlorine out of your hair as soon as you get out of the pool and moisturise daily, you could use braid spray on your cornrows to moisturise.

great advice chaircover,i feel a lot of women find it difficult to communicate with their husband, just simple talk usually brings a lot of issues to the forefront that couples take for granted and think its no big deal.

if this is going to work, im guessing one has to stick to 1 particular hair care product. which would you recommend? olive oil?! plus, can you put un-relaxed hair into rollers?
in my opinion i dont really think u must stick to a particular product, sometimes a particular product might work for a while and do nothing after a period of time, everything is trial and error until u find what works.Never seen rollers being used on natural hair, but then again i have relaxed hair so dont know 4 sure.

Thanks for the info Ubiaa5.

I used to have pretty hair but now its mostly gone. Lack of attention, over-relaxing and all that! So am trying to learn as much as i can so i can appease my hair to stop breaking and start growing. What good mositurizer and conditioner does anyone recommend? Also when deep conditioning do i have to wash the hair b4 applying the conditioner or apply on dry hair?

Thanks for any useful info u can give me.
i use ors carrot oil and ors olive oil hair lotion and sometimes coconut milk split end mender.always use a natural oil like coconut to seal in moisture.point of caution whatever moisturiser u use make sure none of the ingredients is petrolatum or mineral oil,bad for your hair it clogs the pores.for your wkly cond. just find a good cond that contains moisture and proteins like ors replenishing pak,i also use queen helene cholestorol. You must wash your hair before u cond.Great hair jellybean, dont know if i will ever convince myself to go natural,my permed is long and healthy tho, about 3inches below bra straps.

^^^^you are rite about the washing,i grew up thinking i couldnt wash my hair more than once a wk,but now i know better, washing actually stimulates hair growth, not to talk of cleaning all the build up which will allow the scalp breath.the key here is moisturise, moisturise, moisturise.

Thanks to everyone who has shared some hair care tips. Pls could someone tell me what canola oil is and where to get it in Nigeria. Thanks.
canola oil is basically vegetable oil, personally i think canola oil is a little heavy,i use coconut or jojoba oil and add a few drops of essential oils like peppermint or rosemary for hotoil treatment.coconut is very nourishing, peppermint stimulates the hair follicles and rosemary promotes healthy and fas growth.Hope that helps.
