I was surprised to read about the wealth and civilization of the ancient Benin kingdom,they were so civilzed organized and rich that they Europeans were so stunned when they visited,the British got so jealous of them that they eventually burnt the whole kingdom down and stole thier artefacts,my question is this ,why is the present Benin only interested in getting thier artefacts back,rather than bringing the British to justice and huge compensation for burning down a whole kingdom out of jealousy?and secondly if the ancient Benin people were so civilzed and knowledgeable,where are thier descendants?why are the present Benin people not like them? because if the British burned down thier kingdom,then the people should be able to recreate it and hand it down to thier descendants.just like the igbos where. able to recreate themselves after the destruction of the civil war.
