I fill no ounce of pity whatsoever, this groom should not be getting married if he's financial condition is not strong enough to buy a simple cake. what kind of a family do they hope to raise? one with hungry kids. These two should never get married in the first place they are too broke to raise children.

Programming / Re: Are There Nigerian Companies Using These Languages? by udswagz: 12:27pm On Oct 02, 2014
asalimpo:

you dont know wat u talkg about.
Just stay with ur old world tools (php, laravel etc) and leave forward thinkg folks to chart new courses and blaze new trails in tech.
How long does it take to learn a language? A programmer who isnt learng and advancing will b left behind.
Most foreign strtups dont even think java,c++ etc anymore.
Most companies retrain java devs in scala.

The 17year old whose been programming for 8 years is no threat. In time ,that's all thts needed, a novice will get proficient.
Haskell is d new lisp.

Any programmer who cant learn a new language isnt really a programmer.

Far from it, it may interest you to know that i know a plethora of languages
and just strengthening my skills in Python using Flask, but i just learn them for fun
and for use in my personal projects, I only get few projects where i have to use them.
Very soon you will here of a startup Amibr, i helped build using Node.js and MongoDB.
But like i said its personal stuff, hope that one day sha Nigeria will need them

I wish it were that simple. My aunt is educated. In fact, it's always an uneducated pastor leading a flock of educated people... Religious brainwashing is deeply embedded into Nigerian society. Everywhere you turn, from the time your eyes open. So when the more unsavory elements of society begin to exploit that gaping hole in the Nigerian psyche, their job is laughably easy.

There was a joke I read once:

In Nigeria, the most brilliant students graduate with a first-class and become doctors and engineers.

The next best students graduate with a second-class and enter business. They manage the first-class students.

The rest of the students just manage, and enter politics. They rule over the first and second-class students.

The dropouts become thugs and gangsters and control the politicians and business people.

Those who never went to school at all become prophets and pastors, and everyone kneels for them.

so so soooo true babe, its a pity

Programming / Re: Why Waste 4 Years On Computer Science In University? by udswagz: 6:53pm On Oct 01, 2014
I wish someone had told the Nigerian student to start thinking entrepreneurial while in
school, its how i started thinking and i am really grateful to God for giving me such insight.
Do you have any idea how many university graduates are unemployed ?
Even that guy across your street that graduate 2 years ago has not gotten
a job. whats the point ?
the best thing you can do for yourself is to develop your skills.
and focus on building them while you are still in school.
Frankly Nigerian education is one big joke, and there is no promise afterwards.
I focused more on my building my programming skills while in school
and after one year of graduating (have not served, bleeping school ppl)
I am running a web and mobile application development agency,
doing really fine and just got a new laptop.
Please guys build your skill, the educational promise is false.

If you really have to design a website, develop a web application or mobile application
some sites we have developed

and we also develop android mobile applications

phatjoe50: I know a guy who is a Scala programmer, and he works for a start up in CCHUB.

who is the programmer ? i work from CCHub, been a member for almost a year now.
I can tell you about most startups there and majority use PHP with frameworks Laravel and codeIgniter, Java (android)
a few python and C#/.NET like church+

dude those programming languages are not something to have in your arsenal
if you are in Nigeria, and even if you go abroad, what is the gurantee you will code better
than those 17-year-olds who have been hacking their school's server since they were 9 ?

Programming / Re: Which Programming Language Holds Brighter Prospects In Nigeria by udswagz: 6:37pm On Oct 01, 2014
asalimpo:

if u feel insulted. Sorry.
But succint words are more effective than padded words.
E.g
"stop talking crap/horse/bull sh*t"
(3 words)
"i dont totally agree with what u just said..." (9 words)
the first one jar-red u and u wrote a lenghty reply proving its efficacy smiley
the second longer one wudve put u to sleep .*yawning*
any way, ur first write up was crap.
Think bf u post.
*send me ur vb game wud like to toss it*.

Dont com here and talk bullsh*t and expect evrybody to stomach it.
And dont get huffy wen sb slams u for talkg crap.
Ppl like u can't work in d military.
You'll take d harsh traing too personally but tht's y soldiers ar better models of men thn civilians.

I now see that only the really bad programmers talk crap about a programming language they
never use, especially when they are trying to change the subject matter.
I like being polite [succint vs padded ] to people especially on forums because i would like to learn a lot from them, but in your case it a big mistake.
You comment don't annoy me, they just proved a few points.
You are not really good at programming what so ever, you just enjoy bouncing around forums and forming {geek}
seriously dude, get a life. for a moment i thought you where some prodigy & i was thinking i could learn a lot from you.
i got an app to finish up, i can't let some dumb looser waist my time.
Take my advice dude, next time you feel insecure about your self and your poor skills, don't change the subject matter
try to prove your point intelligently, it makes people not doubt that there is a brain in your head
am so out of this thread like last year cool
Have a great life !
Programming / Re: Whats The Fate Of An Oracle Database Administrator In Nigeria by udswagz: 5:22pm On Oct 01, 2014
Nothing for now bro.
Its hard to say but the bitter truth is that it is utterly useless...economically speaking.
Most big companies use cheaper open-source solutions, and
we do not yet have that tech-community i.e technology is not yet a way
of life in Nigeria so people are not adopting it.
when people don't adopt it, then they don't need an administrator,
when the don't need administrator, you don't have a job
when you don't have a job, you cant make the bills
when you can't make the bills, your certificate is useless.
That's the sad truth, i would advise you pickup skill in web develpment
like learn HTML,CSS, javascript and PHP
i guarantee you will see the jobs pouring in.
I do freelance web and mobile app development visit: www.udonline.net if you want to say hello smiley
