A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Mr Habeeb Adewale has flayed the leadership of the party for “presenting a candidate of unimaginable deficits for the 2018 gubernatorial poll” in the state.

He said the personality of Senator Ademola Adeleke was an albatross of the party during the election, and the integral factor that was responsible for its defeat, saying Adeleke lacks requisite academic and mental strength to stand for election of that magnitude.

A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Elemchukwu Ogbowu, has left the PDP.

Ogbowu, a former Commissioner under ex Governor Sir Peter Odili and Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike, lost the PDP South West Senatorial ticket to Senator Betty Apiafi.

He has been underground since losing the senatorial ticket to Apiafi.

Ogbowu, in a statement issued Sunday in Port Harcourt, said he was frustrated in the party because of his stance for a riverine Governor for Rivers state in 2015, adding that He had not been forgiven for taking that position.

While stating that his next line of action will soon be made public, Elemchukwu Ogbowu stated that he no longer feel wanted around Governor Nyesom Wike and PDP leaders in Rivers state.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, have told the Supreme Court to allow them access to a server purportedly used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit Nigeria’s 2019 presidential election results.

This followed the rejection of the request at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) in a ruling on June 24.

Atiku is insisting that he defeated President Muhammadu Buhari at the polls, going by the results allegedly got from the said central server allegedly owned and deployed for the elections by INEC.

Atiku and the PDP, in the notice of appeal, are contesting the tribunal’s ruling on four grounds.

First: They argued that the PEPT was in error when “contrary to the provisions of Section 151 (l) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) they refused to grant the application of the Appellants on the ground that it will amount to pre-judging the issue in the substantive case.”

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to compel an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari to pay him N2.5 billion, following allegations of slander.

He also wants a retraction of what he described as false information about him, disseminated by Buhari’s media aide, Lauretta Onochie, on Twitter and Facebook.


Abubakar accused Ms Onochie of alleging that he was on a watchlist of the United Arab Emirates in a Twitter post shared to the public in May.

A Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, Wednesday, endorsed the terms of out of court settlement adopted by the DAAR Communications Plc and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
