The Shiroro Hydro Power Station (SHPS) will soon double its operating capacity of 300mw through solar plant.

Alhaji Dauda Abdulaziz, SHPS Chief Operating Officer, told news men on Thursday in Shiroro to a team from Infrastructure Concessions Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE).

Abdulaziz said that the new solar plant would be digitally controlled instead of the conventional manual system. “This new solar form of energy generation we are introducing will generate additional 300mw.

With this progress, Nigerians will henceforth enjoy more power supply. “It is a project that has prospect of employment for skilled young Nigerians,” he added.

The Nigerian Army 3rd Brigade troops in Jigawa State have intercepted and destroyed 80 bags of poisoned fish brought into the state by suspected Boko Haram terrorists from Baga in Borno State.

While disclosing this to newsmen, the Brigade Spokesperson, Captain Eze Ikechikwu, said the sect members were intercepted with the poisoned fish at Hadeja Local Government Area of Jigawa State with the intent to sell it to unsuspected members of the public. 11 suspected members of the sect group were being interrogated. He added that Boko Haram members have devised another means of attacking members of the public through traditional biological weapon.

Troops of 22 Brigade Garrison, Army Headquarters Strike Group (AHQ SG) accompanied by some Civilian JTF on fighting patrol to Boboshe, Garna, Kyare, Kadawu, Gineba and Ajiri arrested 6 Boko Haram terrorists and recovered Improvised Explosive (IED) making devices today, Sunday April 4, 2016.


Although the fighting patrol team found Boboshe village virtually empty, they however recovered 8 industrial gas cylinders and 5 regular gas cylinders at a Primary School being used for IED making and also recovered a Pickup vehicle.

The patrol team captured 3 Boko Haram terrorists at Kadawu and recovered 4 motorcycles, 3 bicycles 1 solar panel and 2 liquid herbicides.
At Garna, the troops also captured 3 and recovered 7 locally made guns from them.
