hayqinsbFX: It's d truth that's hard to accept.
Another thing I'm thinking is the fact that canada introduced the Federal skilled worker program and express entry scheme for applicants that have a dream of working and staying in canada. EE takes longerr than the study permit route.
So I feel they just kindof send any study permit applicant whose application is suspicious of being wanting to just migrate instead of studying back to apply through the EE route.
Just saying... Anything is possible shaa.. BTW, VOs are laughn @ our posts here...lol |

Team12: I think this "family ties in Canada and Nigeria" has become a default reason for refusal o. I don't gerrit
Plus I noticed most people on this forum are going to Ontario. Could it be that they have a limit to the number of people that should be accomodated in a province for a period? Why the refusal letters of late 'Family ties in Canada...' - according to our big bro here, solo8, most nigerians don't go back after studies.. So mayb VOs hv somehow concluded that we all hv families of there..lol! Ehen, madam with d bulky docs, yu hv submittd abi? Congrats!! |

Solo8: The Pan American games, women's World Cup and an election in a cpl of months. So they are probably getting a lot of visit request especially from South America, that should not have nothing to do with student visa though. One thing I've noticed is a bit of an influx of rich international students from China and Saudi Arabia. Also, maybe since most naija students don't go back, they are tougher on naija students, I know a naija guy that got denied PR earlier this year.
Maybe looking for schools that are not close to major city might help. Did most of the people delayed apply to Toronto area schools? So Chinese and saudi kids re intimidating us..its true shaa, 90% of nigerian study permit applicants do not go back home.. Most applied to ontario area... |

Jakay: Thanks berexio1. I studied BSc.Chemistry and i'm going for Advanced Diploma in Water Quality (1 yr program). Have worked for over 3yrs at an agency of the federal government where my intended program is highly relevant, and i included with my application, a study leave approval letter and letter of introduction from my employer. As for travel history, I've not traveled out of the country before, but I'm slated to embark on an official trip to Asia by end of June. That may satisfy the travel history if I'm to wait and reapply after the trip, but it would be rather late as my program commences early September. Unfortunately the program is offered only during the Fall term, else I would have deferred. Don't think I want to wait that long, unless I'm left with no other choice. I'll just add some landed property docs (that may tackle the issue of personal assets and financial status), write a very strong SOP addressing the other issues raised and reapply. If your mind is already made up, then try paper-route. Congrats in advance |

justicia: IMO, I don't think LOE equals SOP. SOP as the name implies means statement regarding your purpose of wanting to go to Canada i.e what u want to go and do there which in our case is study, and you can add other things like why u picked the school and the course and the benefits you believe the progrram will confer on you when ure done. LOE on the other hand is a letter that is used to explain ur app generally especially areas you believe must be explained better to the V.O. for them to understand why this is that or that is this in ur app. My 50cents. I don't still get the 'difference'..but that's ur own opnion shaa.. Well done sir!I blv all is well.. |

darefestus: You see bro, this is the first problem..Diploma after BSC is always a red flag.. I can also guess what you are doing presently is in no way related to Computer/Engineering. "Diploma after B.sc is always a red flag.." - that's what most of us believe shaa..but cm to tink of it, one can decide to acquire more certifications other M.sc..he studied Cmptr Engineerin and he's goin fr diploma in teleCom engineerin or so, I feel all is on trck. The question should be, 'is your current job in line with wat u studied at d undergraduate level and ur proposed course of study?'..I know a professor that has over 3 diploma certifications in different fields after his M.sc oo(acquired all frm yankee).. Everything lies on your 'ability' to convince the VO using your Letter of explanation + the grace of GOD.. Prayer is the Master Key! *cheers* |

dahjor: Hello house, please i need clarification on these:
1. I want to apply online, am i going to submit the hard copies of all the documents i scanned? if NO, what are the things i'm submitting to the visa office after submitting online.
2. Is the letter of explanation same as Statement of purpose?
Thanks in advance 1). You won't submit hard copies of the docs..you will only print and submit 2 copies of 'the biometric mail' u wd rcv aftr submitn online + copies of data page of ur international passport, then pay 300naira. 2)LOE = SOP |

Crich: For those submitting and Applying online, how do the V.O.s verify the authenticity of these documents? I'm yet to apply though so need to know which route is better. VOs are trained to scrutinise everything that comes to their desk..so try not to present false docs but if you must present any at all, it shudnt be much. Congrats! *i stand to be corrected* |

ugsams: Judging by what i experienced here in the drilling company where i work, there will be no need for all those certifications but from what i hear and read on the internet it should increase your chances of getting the employment. One of my senior colleagues who has experience in Nigeria told me he arrived with a valid BOSIET but yet we met at the training center where we did the course. After that we were all taken to My company's training centre for their induction program. For Rostabouts it's about 6 weeks. We were taught most of those courses in our IADC Rig Pass class. We also had courses like Electric Power Generation all was organized and taken care of by the company. I believe most Oil and Gas company have similar structure.
I'm mostly talking from my little experience here as i had no experience in Nigeria. Ok, bro..seems you're my namesake 'Ugochukwu'..lol do you mind adding me to that Whatsapp group, plssssssss..thanks in advance |

justsmile: my dear, just like you, I'm also looking for a way into this sector proper. I'm only privileged to work as a third party contractor that's why I have this little experience.
I would advice you do the HSE course and get certified. it is easier to get in with it. From the discussions I've had with the guys I met over there, some got in with this even without being Science inclined.
Heard there are other skills one can train in to get into this sector too.
But since you are science inclined, it is even better..... From what I noticed, electrical and mechanical guys are well need. Years of experience also come to play. And then, if you have somebody, could be easier. But hey, if you are a believer, then anything is possible.
cheers! Thanks dear..I rili appreciate.. I cn get doz certifications on or bfr July, by God's grace..its all bout d experience..I don't mind goin in as a volunteer tho..but where? Any suggestions on that??I mean coys..tnx |
