IMO GETS NEW UNIVERSITY AS EASTERN PALM UNIVERSITY OGBOKO IS LICENSED BY NUC

Today in the National University Commission, NUC, Gov Rochas Okorocha received the operating license to a brand new university, Eastern Palm University, Ogboko in Ideato South, Imo State; a Private - Public Partnership between the Imo State Government and some stakeholders.

Imo State is a state known for producing the highest amount of JAMB candidates in Nigeria with few chances to take them owing to the few number of universities in the state.

With the granting of the license to operate to the Eastern Palm University, Imo indigenes can now heave a sigh of relief as chances of gaining admission in the university has increased.

Security Challenge, Imo/Abia Hold Joint Security Council Meeting -
As Gov Rochas Okorocha Pays Solidarity Visit To Ikpeazu

Today witnessed a novel and innovative idea of a joint security council meeting of Imo and Abia States Security Council arising from the solidarity visit of Gov Rochas Okorocha to his Abia State counterpart, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

Gov Ikpeazu thanked Owelle Rochas Okorocha for the solidarity visit arising from the kidnapping and recovery of the dead bodies of 5 Fulanis and 2 Igbos in Abia State. He said what affects Abia touches Imo based on historical links and proximity assuring that the era kidnappers carry out crimes in Imo and run to Abia or vice versa is over. He said the visit is a tonic that will spur him to carry on.

The governor of Imo State and Coordinator of South-East Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha in his remarks said Imo and Abia are "one and the same" and what affects one, touches the other. He said there is a need for collaborative efforts in tackling the security challenges facing both states.

Security chiefs from both states briefed the joint council with the following resolutions:
Restated the unity and oneness of the country. Equal treatment for all citizens and residents of both states. Respect for the sanctity of human life. Restated their support for security agencies and lauded their efforts so far. Empowered security agencies to work across the boundaries of both states in the discharge of their duties. That properties where these criminal activities are carried out will be demolished or forfeited to the respective States. Traditional rulers where called upon to work with security agencies and enlighten their subjects.

Governor Okorocha Attends DSP Alamieyesia's burial At Bayelsa State.

The Imo State Governor and Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, Dr. Rochas Anayo Okorocha on Saturday the 9th of April 2016 attended the burial of ex Bayelsa state governor, Chief DSP Alamieyesia.


Gov Okorocha in his speech referred to late DSP Alamieyeisia as a great man who fought for the good people of Bayelsa state.
He told them that despite the PDP APC political difference DSP Alamieyesia never played politics of bitterness.
He urged all politicians to draw closer to God as it could be anybody at anytime.


In attendance also was ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Bayelsa state governor Hon. Seriake Dickson & wife, Senator Ben Murray-bruce, PDP Chairman Ali Modu Sheriff, many present and past political office holders at state and national levels.

GOVERNOR OKOROCHA HANDS OVER RESIN PAINTS INDUSTRY TO SKYRUN GROUP

 

The Executive Governor of Imo State, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha has officially handed over the Resin Paints Industry, Aboh Mbaise to Skyrun Group, a Corporate Company from China to commence real business.

 

The Governor reminded Imolites and Aboh Mbaise nation particularly that God has fulfilled his promise of fully repurchasing and restoring the industry back to Imo state government and people, a feat that seemed impossible in the eyes of men.

 

Owelle emotionally recounted the sale, and repurchase of Resin Paints that traversed from state, personal, corporate and back to state government ownership made possible under the Rescue Mission Government.

 

He proclaimed “I want to announce to you today, that this property sited here, is no longer the property of anybody, but the property of Imo state government.”

 

Governor Okorocha commended the cooperation of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and the honest and transparent assistance of Zenith Bank Nigeria PLC in the whole buy-back process.

 

Owelle pointed out that it was in the bid to shop for and attract investors that he met with Skyrun, a renowned Chinese corporation that showed interest to do business in Imo state beginning with Resin Paints where they will produce prepaid electric meters, fridges, televisions and other electronic home appliances adding that it will attract good business from around Africa and beyond and also generate employment for Imo citizens.

 

Elated Governor Okorocha chipped in that Aboh Mbaise people couldn’t ask for more with the opening of Resin Paints, the Ngor/Aboh University coming on stream soon and the Enyiogugu secondary school he promised to rebuild.

 

The governor finally charged the people of the area to make sure that the property is securely protected and to cooperate with Skyrun group.

 

Earlier, the Executive General Manager of Skyrun, Mr. Shai Shao appreciated the venture, pointing out also that the corporation have been in Nigeria for some years now, but will opt to begin power projects here in Imo in line with the job, job, job factory, factory, factory and industry, industry, industry creation.  He also asked for a hand of fellowship with the indigenes to operate freely.
