FIDELITY & FRIENDSHIP IN POLITICS, THE TAMBUWAL-IHEDIOHA EXAMPLE

We secure our friends not by accepting

favors but by doing them - Thucydides

Friendship amongst politicians usually don’t last as they climb the political ladder and join different political parties with differing interests. The case of Hon Chukwuemeka Ihedioha and Gov. Tambuwal is worthy of emulation and commendation in this clime where friendship is sacrificed on the altar of political correctness and mobility. Interestingly, they they both started off as aides to lawmakers and joined the fray.

Emeka Ihedioha was born in 1965 while Tambuwal was born in 1966. Tambuwal is a lawyer by training while Ihedioha is a Food Scientist. Hon. Ihedioha started his political career as Press officer to Senate President Iyorcha Ayu in 1992, Gov. Tambuwal commenced his sojourn into politics as Personal Assistant on Legislative Affairs to Senator Abdullahi Wali in 1999.

Having worked within the precincts of the hallowed chambers of the legislature and appreciate the enormous responsibilities and impact legislators can make on their constituencies, both men threw their hats into the murky waters of Nigerian politics in 2003 when Tambuwal contested to represent Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency and won under the banner of All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP while Ihedioha similarly contested and won a seat in the Federal House of representatives to represent Aboh-Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency.

Gov. Tambuwal was re-elected like Hon Ihedioha back to the Green Chambers in 2007 where he (Tambuwal) emerged Deputy Chief Whip after defecting to the PDP and Ihedioha became his boss as Chief Whip. Their bond of friendship was cemented as both men worked harmoniously watching from close quarters the presiding officers and learning from them while bidding their time.

In June 2011, Gov. Tambuwal and Hon. Ihedioha defied their party, the PDP and jettisoned its zoning arrangement to get elected as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives respectively. This time, Tambuwal became Emeka’s boss and yet their friendship blossomed in rebellion. They set the template for the legislative coup Senator Bukola Saraki perfected in 2015 to become Senate President.

In 2015, Tambuwal was elected Governor of Sokoto, Ihedioha also contested to be governor of Imo state and lost to the APC candidate, Chief Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha. It was the great Cicero who was said, THE SHIFT OF FORTUNES TEST THE RELIABILITY OF FRIENDS but this was not the case with both gentlemen as the bond of their friendship grew inspite of Ihedioha’s electoral mishap. Their friendship was not affected or shaken by Ihedioha’s loss, it was a delight seeing Gov. Tambuwal in Imo state on official and private visits and Ihedioha as special guest in Sokoto commissioning projects executed by his bosom friend. Their ability to remain friends not minding differences of their tribe, political affiliation and personality shows their strength of character and pedigree. I commend them and believe they are inspiring many others.

In the current dispensation, Gov. Tambuwal is running to be president while Ihedioha still has his eyes on the guber laurel that eluded him over 3yrs ago. Will good fortune smile on them this time? Win or lose, their friendship hopefully will remain as solid as ever?

Alleged Assassination Attempt: Police accuses Pastor David Elijah of mischief

•Pastor David Elijah
The police in Anambra on Friday declared as high mischief, the reported shooting of David Elijah, the pastor in charge of Grace and Power Prophetic Ministry in Awka.
The Anambra Command in a statement signed by DCP Chris Owolabi, wondered why the pastor refused to report the incident to the police station nearest to the scene of the incident.
The command wondered why the pastor, instead, went to his church in Aromma, Awka, to make a public announcement of his miraculous escape.
“The attention of the Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to mischievous publications in some national dailies and the social media that one Pastor (Prophet) David Elijah of Grace and Power Prophetic Ministry, Awka was attacked by unknown gunmen in his church close to Aroma junction.
“It is indisputable that on Sept. 6th between 9am to 10am, the Pastor said that he was attacked by unknown gunmen along Enugu-Udi road in Enugu state, and his vehicle was riddled with bullets, but he escaped unhurt.
“However, instead of reporting the incident at the nearest police station where the incident took place, the pastor drove to his church in Awka and attracted the attention of his congregation who were waiting for him at the church premises for a church event,” he said.
However, the command urged members of the public to disregard the report as misleading and assured that Anambra is safe.
“Following the incident, the commissioner of police directed the DPO ‘B’ Division to immediately proceed to the church and ascertain the true situation.
“The DPO visited the pastor at his church and even took photographs with him to clear the ambiguity.
“In view of the foregoing, the command implores members of the public to disregard such misleading reports from mischievous elements who are bent on portraying the state in bad light in order to achieve their selfish goals,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the social media buzzed with stories of how Pastor David miraculously escaped unhurt, following attack on him by unidentified gunmen. (NAN)

Yesterday being the 14th of May, 2018, distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume took out time after the successful LGA Congress that took place all over the state to go buy himself a few items.

He went to a popular Supermarket chain in the state capital. After shopping and paying for his goods, a brave staff ran to him saying MY NEXT GOVERNOR, CAN I HAVE SOME PHOTOGRAPHS WITH YOU SIR. The Federal Commissioner representing South East in the National Communications Commission NCC granted the request. Other staff of the shopping mall upon seeing how friendly and easy going the Senator is, ran to him for their own photo sessions.
They sang, danced and prayed for him to succeed in his political intentions for the state.

Imo APC Ward Congress Stands, Says Secretary National Convention & Congress Committee

The Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, National Convention and Congress Committee, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu in a telephone chat told Ifeanyicy.com that the Imo State APC Ward congresses held last Saturday May 5th, 2018 still stand as there was no cancelation whatsoever.

Reacting to an earlier posted made by IfeanyiCy blog, the Senator representing Okigwe Zone in the National Assembly stated that, it's true that the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and his delegation met with APC National Chairman and appealed for the cancellation of the congress, but the Chairman in his wisdom encouraged them to follow party laid down rules by submitting their grievances to the Congress Appeal Committee set up by the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress to resolve any impasses arising from the just concluded ward Congress.

The former Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, averred that, if Governor Okorocha felt aggrieved, he should submit his petition to appeal panels who would forward their findings to NWC of the party for necessary decision, not unto then, the congress stands.

IfeanyiCy Media had earlier reported that the Imo APC Ward Congresses have been canceled after a brief telephone chat with Chairman House of Representatives, Hon Chike Okafor who excitedly told IfeanyiCy blog that the Congress has been canceled by the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun.

IMSU Alumni National President Calls On IG To Find Killers Of DPO

Chief Chris Anyanwu, the National President of Imo State University Alumni Association, has called on the Inspector General of Police to nab the Killers Of his member, Supol Chukwuegu Kingsley with immediate effect.

Speaking to the media on the matter, Anyanwu said it is a national embarrassment that a week after the award winning DPO was killed, his Killers are still walking free and the crime is not receiving the attention it deserves.
It is regrettable that the IG has neither addressed the press on the issue nor commiserated with the deceased family to our knowledge. Normalising the murder of the award winning is causing a lot of apprehensive among our members who are beginning to raise suspicions of foul play regarding the killing of SP Chukwuegu!

Senator Ifeanyi Araraume Family; The Ideal First Family Imo Deserves.

In the early days of democracy in Nigeria, aspirants to political offices were encouraged and supported to vie for public offices by their communities based on their antecedents and contributions to their society. They were not only encouraged to vie but often times funded by their communities to represent them in various political offices.

In our clime today, people now present themselves spending huge sums of money to get elected into political offices. Often times, we find even societal rejects buy their way into public offices against the wish of their people. The influence of money has reduced the power of the people to elect their representatives. People often mortgage their rights by selling their votes for a “pot of porridge”. The effect is that elected representatives feel they have bought their way through and don’t owe the people democracy dividends anymore.

Often times in our political decision, we tend to vote for politicians on sentiments without properly scrutinizing their personal and family background. We are often moved by clannish sentiments of place of origin or swayed by politicians who are good orators and their eloquence blinds us to their inadequacies and incompetence.

As we draw close to the dawn of a new political dispensation, we must scrutinize all political actors and dramatis personae seeking to represent us at all levels. We must look beyond the aspirants and examine his/her family background. A man or woman that cannot maintain a healthy home, cannot run a state properly or represent a constituency effectively. We have had reports in the past of governor’s that exchange blows with their spouse in government house, we have read of some children of public office holders who run the government of their father that pretend to be in charge. We have also heard of politicians with illegitimate children at home or abroad. A family of gluttons for instance would covert state resources to their personal use.

In therefore present as a shining example, the family of Senator Ifeanyichukwu Godwin Araraume as the ideal first family, Imo deserves come 2019.

He disclosed that Sen Ifeanyi Araraume is no push over and that it is better for him to give himself a Soft Landing than waste his funds on a fruitless Guber contest.

Sources said he has reached out to the incumbent house member to drop his second term agreement. Copied

SEN. IFEANYICHUKWU GODWIN ARARAUME; A LIFE OF DESTINY & SERVICE

Writing about the person of Distinguished Senator Ifeanyichukwu Godwin Araraume is a herculean task as one is confused as to where to start from. It is akin to the blind man who was asked to touch an elephant and describe what he felt. How do you talk about a business titan, political colossus, Senator of the Federal Republic, silent philanthropist, dotting father and loving grand dad, notable Nigerian and statesman.

Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume can be described as a child of destiny with his steps, guided by God almighty. A sole male child kept alive by God to fulfil his purpose in life. A man who from dint of God’s grace and hardwork is today one of the most prominent and influential men in the political firmament of Nigeria; a recurrent political decimal in Imo and Nigerian politics.

HIS QUEST TO GOVERN IMO

Sen Ifeanyi Araraume believes there is a limit to what his personal wealth and influence can do to alleviate the suffering of people around him. He knows that with the instrument of government, he can reach as much people as possible with amenities and opportunities with proper utilization of resources, probity, due process and respect for rule of law. This underlines his quest for political power and the desire to occupy the seat of Governor of Imo State. As an individual, he is comfortable with the little God has blessed him with. He has been quoted to have said severally that he doesn’t desire to be governor for personal aggrandizement or as a laurel on his political accomplishments but sees the office as an instrument to help others and provide an enabling environment for others, especially the youths to achieve their dreams in life. His solid Report Card and dividends attracted to his senatorial zone indicates a man who says what he means, and means what he says. A man who power doesn’t intoxicate or moved by its privileges and pecks. A man who keeps to agreements and faithful to his friends’ and associates alike.

Politics / Sen Araraume Condemns Attack On Archbishop Obinna by ujoatu(m): 3:43pm On Mar 06, 2018
SENATOR ARARAUME DESTINY ORGANIZATION,
ONITSHA OWERRI ROAD, IMO STATE.

ASSAULT ON ARCHBISHOP AJV OBINNA.

Our attention has been drawn to an ugly and sacrilegious incident that happened on Saturday, March 3rd 2018 at the funeral mass for the burial of late Lolo Ezinne Eziada Juliana Mbata. Information has it that during the course of the mass led by Archbishop AJV Obinna, some suspected hoodlums who came in company of the wife of the State Governor, Her Excellency, Nneoma Okorocha and the Chief of Staff to the State Government insulted the Archbishop and even threatened to physically assault him. They made move to grab his microphone.

We will like to state unequivocally that this act is totally unacceptable, condemnable and reprehensible.
The perpetrators of this heinous offence should be brought to answer to the law. Our politicians should realize that a place of worship and sanctuary of God is a revered place and not a place for gangastarism, political rascality and cult activities.

The person of Archbishop Obinna is a highly respected man of God and a senior citizen of our state. He should be treated with all measures of respect and dignity that he and his office deserve. The organization also disassociates the ruling party, All Progressive Congress(APC) from this act and action. The leadership of the party at the state and national levels condemns this act in its entirety.

Once more, we call on well meaning members of the public especially our youths to shun all act of violence and should not allow themselves to be used as thugs to carry out anti-social vices.

The people of Imo state are basically Christians and understand the implications of desecrating the alter of God.

Politics / Imo Commissioner Cry Out Over Robbery By SARS by ujoatu(m): 6:15am On Dec 11, 2017
Good a thing that the IG of police has said he was going to reorganize the SARS dept of the police after series of Innocent citizens who went through hell in the hands of these SARS officers started shouting out. TODAY I and my sports colleague travelling to Lagos for AG meeting of the Nigeria Cricket Federation was robbed by these so called SARS officers along Asaba to Benin expressway. The CP of Edo should look into this matter and find this group of police officers who continue to disgrace the police force. For 2hrs we were held hostage with handcuffs not minding that I identified myself as a Commissioner in Imo State. Every money found on us and in our bags were taken, my wrist watch was taken, my pepper spray was taken, other valuables were taken too. So many times during this ordeal guns were corked and we were told that they will shoot us dead and nothing will happen. Our Phones were taken away from us, so that we can't make any call, the place was so lonely and they forced us to park where their hidden car was parked. A brown Camry written police by the two sides of it. From that point were we are, you will not see a passing car approach till it vooms past. You will imagine when they eventually told us to go and I reminded the one they were calling commander that we had no other money with us, the six of them started debating how much should be given to us, after about 10minutes one brought 3,500 out of over 40,000 they took. As we were still with the one who brought the money, another officer came with an extra 1,500 and added. We were now been forced to drive off. Even when we noticed that oil was dropping from our car and wanted to check. They refused and told us to go to somewhere else and do the repairs. If at my level and status, I got such treatment, I wonder what our innocent citizens are seeing out there. IG Sir, pls some of these bad eggs should be carefully removed from the Police force to bring sanity. Nigeria must be better.

How Ethelbert Anayochukwu Okorocha got the name "Rochas"
He got the name Rochas from one of his teacher's, an Indian by name Mr Jacobs. It so happened that Mr Jacobs was finding it difficult to pronounce 'Okorocha' very well, so he shortened it and added the word "s" to the last five letters hence Rochas, by which he is well known today -

Politics / Resume Or Resign Advocates Lack Knowledge Of Our Constitution- Ik Ogbonna by ujoatu(m): 9:57pm On Aug 10, 2017
A media consultant and a former aide to Gov Okorocha has blasted the Resume Or Resign Advocates.
In a tweet, he said,
"Those asking PMB to RESUME OR RESIGN lack proper understanding of the issues at play and the workings of our constitution.
PMB is in London without "executive powers" which he constitutionally ceded to his Vice who is now properly addressed as Ag President discharging the duties of his boss.
On his return, he will require a transmission of a letter to resume duty or assume his powers again.

Now tell me why he should resign?

In pedestrian term, Buhari is a Ceremonial President while Osibanjo exercises his powers"

Mr Ik Ogbonna is a Media Consultant and was until recently the SA on ICT to Gov Rochas Okorocha
