That was the best way to get children to clean their plates. So I guess we just grew up with it The last time i tried eating my meat before clearing my plate, i lost appetite for the food. It was like there was no incentive left ![]() |

I was going to nominate Okijajuju/Madcow, but looks like he's already made the list. |
xp17: so, you joined these fools sinking in ignorance? it's a shame on how fools have made smart folks look stupid in Nigeria. the same Nigeria that the fatality to the survival ratio was very abysmal ? meanwhile, the US has had 100% containment @ the emry hospital, Georgia. you think Nigeria really deserves an accolade for this? what about the 3000 military personnel sent to Liberia to also study on Ebola? so na Liberia wan teach them too?Chill out bro. It's not everyday you see America sneeze. The situation is just.......well, ridiculous. Please I really don't want to laugh ![]() |

teeo: I would take that as a no. CheersLol ![]() It's a "I'll think about whether I want to watch a nollywood movie in a cinema" We'll talk offline. |
uzolexis: I'm yet to see this movie but the fact that whoever wrote this rated "the figurine" and "phone swap" as substandard, I won't take his words with a pinch of salt cause i've seen both movies n I think they r great.A lot of people found 'the figurine' to be substandard. |
Ishilove: I don't know why people keep panning 'Half of a Yellow Sun'. I love the movie. It's one of my best for the year 2014.Did you read the book? I've found adaptations extremely disappointing in the past that I don't bother watching now (not even GOT ). |
candygosh: I wish I could get the book. Especially divergent series. It's available on amazon |
teeo: We could go see it together and I have Half of a yellow sun. I think its the one that was shown in the cinemas outside Nigeria and not the edited version we saw.Good morning |
I love the sound of this man's voice; how he's able to speak to your humanity, and provoke emotions you didn't even know you possessed. I won't put it past him to talk boko haram out of this madness ![]() |
These: 35. Love and appreciate your parents. We are often so busy growing up, we forget they are also growing old. 36. When you have to start compromising yourself and your morals for the people around you, it’s probably time to change the people around you. |
I'm assuming you're addressing both physical and emotional abuse. There are a couple of factors that would make a woman stay in an abusive relationship; First she might be thinking he'll change one day. There's the love factor. I know how difficult it is to leave someone you've been in love with most of your life. You think perhaps if you left he'd hurt you. That maybe you're the problem not him. You're overreacting and your attitude is bringing out the jerk in him. You've spent a major part of your life depending on him. Where would you go if you left? I think this is the major point of female empowerment programmes. He claims to love you and if you leave his life will end. It's weird how statements like this could leave you glued to a spot. And finally when you manage to break loose and leave, one day he comes back begging and you're so quick to forgive him. Only eventually you realize, nothing is ever going to change, and you can actually have a better life without him. It's almost pathetic really, but our emotions is still something we're trying to make sense of. |
teeo: There's no point, it reeked of greiviance. Whatever beef he has with Afolayan is not my business but I an sure the op is just another tribalist. Lots of people who saw the movie put it to be better than half of a yellow sun.Hian. Maybe my understanding of English language is poor, so please explain how this comment screams triabalism: Inside critics who had seen the movie earlier had placed it over the glamorously superficial ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ released a few months ago, consequently spiking interest in this two million dollar “David” that had supposedly struck down Biyi Bandele’s 10 million dollar (and if you are Nigerian, 1.59 BILLION NAIRA) Goliath. But then, both films seem to have a lot in common and with such budgets- bearing in mind that Nigeria has a high level of poverty- their efforts to raise Nigeria’s film reputation must be applauded, for Kunle Afolayan especially, who seemed to have had a very difficult time amassing resources “all alone” and had every aspect of the film (save the colour grading) done strictly by Nigerians in Nigeria- yeah, patriotic poo. So, our reaction to the movie would be tinted with compassion… If we were a bunch of Bottom holes, but that’s the cool part, we arent.Btw, isn't it strange that a non-Igbo is being tribalistic against his own people? I say naija is moving forward A person having a personal vendetta against another doesn't sum up to ethnic bigotry. You should watch your choice of words. |
Why is it all about men I was hoping to read something a bit more......different ![]() Good effort though. |
candygosh: I didn't download it. I watched it at the mall. Nothing beats watching this kind of movie on the big screenRead the reviews and it wasn't too good. Think Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 62% rating ![]() Anyway so far it looks like a Divergent/Hunger Game type movie. Think I'll just get the books instead. |
teeo: Op are you Igbo? The OP might be igbo, but the dude who wrote the review isn't. Did you even bother to check the source? |
