This reporter, Izunna Okafor, bumped into a young man around the popular UNIZIK Junction (also known as the UNIZIK Temp. Site) in Awka, where he was seen running to hand over a can of palm oil to a female passenger in a tricycle (Keke), who eventually threw out a cash of N1000 for him, as the tricycle continued its journey. A close observation shows the well-dressed young man as he returned to a spot where other cans palm oil were also seen, loaded in a white bucket, which he then settled on his head and began to trek down the axis. This moved this reporter to approach him for inquiries regarding what had just transpired and his destination with the bucket of oil on his head.

“The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma has condemned the attack and gruesome murder of personnel of Mopol 18, Owerri, by gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN). The officers were ambushed in the early hours of today, 23/03/2024 while on patrol duties along old Gariki Road Okigwe by the disgruntled elements who threw dynamite on the officer’s patrol vehicle and engaged them in a protracted gunfight. In the process, two officers paid the ultimate price while four others survived the attack.

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended the immediate younger brother to former Aviation Minister, Abubakar Ahmad Sirika.

Sources close to the family gathered that Sirika was arrested by the anti-graft agency on Sunday, February 4 over investigation on the activities of President Mohammadu Buhari’s Aviation Minister.

While in office as minister, Sirika was accused of conspiracy, abuse of office, diversion of public funds, contract inflation, criminal breach of trust and money laundering amounting to N8,069,176,864.

According to EFCC, the sum was for four aviation contracts from the former minister to a company known as Engirios Nigeria Limited, owned by his younger brother.

Three traditional rulers in Anambra State have revoked the chieftaincy titles they recently conferred on the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

The traditional rulers include Igwe F.E. Ebelendu of Aguluezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area, Igwe Onwuamaeze Damian Ezeani of Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area, and Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu of Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area.

The revocation of the chieftaincy titles — ‘Dike E Ji Eje Ọgụ of Agulezechukwu’, ‘Odenjinji of Neni’ and ‘Ikemba Ojoto’ by the traditional rulers was announced in individuals letters respectively penned by the three monarchs, an in which they also cited violation of the Code of Conduct for Anambra State Traditional Rulers in conferring the chieftaincy titles as reasons for the withdrawal of the conferments.

Today makes it Thirty-Three (33) days after Supreme Court delivered the final judgment in the case of Federal Republic of Nigeria versus Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Following the delivery of said judgment on 15th December 2023, applications were filed for the release of Certified True Copies (CTC) of the Judgment and the enrolled Order. But to this day, the Supreme Court is yet to comply.

This failure to release the said CTC is a flagrant violation of the Constitution that entitles Nnamdi Kanu to be issued copies of the judgement within seven days of the delivery of the judgment on 15th December 2023. It is a fundamental right and thus enforceable.
