A 15-year-old boy who was recently kidnapped in Anambra State has been found in Kogi State after reportedly escaping from his abductors.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a statement to newsmen on Thursday.

He disclosed that the lucky boy, identified as Chibuike Damian Onyebuchi, who hails from Ihiala in Anambra State, was reportedly abducted in Onitsha by unidentified persons who also took him to an unknown place, from where he luckily escaped.

Staff of the Imo Civil Guards who control traffic on major roads in the state capital have cried out over the refusal of the Hope Uzodinma administration to pay them salary since it came on board five years ago, despite several appeals.

This development they said has resulted in the death of about 34 of their colleagues who gave up as a result of hunger, lack, deprivation, and inability to source necessary medication for their ailments.

Some of them who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “we are baffled that our beloved Governor, Hope Uzodinma CON has comfortably closed his heart of humanity over the suffering, neglect and pitiable condition of Imo State Civil Guards, culminating in the non payment of 5 years arrears of salaries and allowances, despite the fact that many of our staff are still working. Many, in an effort to survive, have regrettably become beggars on the streets and those in government owned establishments as security guards are demonically oppressed and frustrated.

It was gathered that Fr Wence Madu, who was Chairman of the Committee on the conversion of Imo Polytechnic from multi campus to a one campus system, and his Secretary, Hon Esther Ukachukwu recommended relocation of the school to pave way for the catholic school project . “That was why he suggested that the school be moved to Omuma so that the Catholic church can take over the TESAC premises.”

The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 40-year-old man in connection with an ongoing investigation over the sudden death of his son.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga announced this in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday. He disclosed that the suspect, Mr. Alfred Bassey, who hails from Cross River State, was alleged to have forcibly the 7-year-old son from the mother, and had been living with him in an uncompleted building at Trans-Nkisi Layout Onitsha.

The Police Spokesman, however, said that, on 11th December 2024, the body of the child was found in a soakaway pit dug in the abandoned uncompleted building after his father left him there for an unknown destination.

247UREPORTS, on Tuesday, reported that one of the buildings in a 113-room popular hostel, known as Diamond Hostel, located near primary/secondary school around the UNIZIK Temporary Site in Awka, had developed some alarming cracks, thereby sparking off fears of a possible collapse.
This made some proactive tenants to hurriedly begin to relocate and evacuate their belongings from the compound, while many others remained, saying that they don’t have where to relocate to, or have enough money to rent house elsewhere, and further concluding that the building would not collapse, since the Caretaker had promised to bring some engineers on Wednesday to fix it.

However, following the report, the officers of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) —an agency of the state government, on Wednesday morning, stormed the scene. And upon the inspection and confirmation of the instability of the building, immediately sealed it and ordered the immediate vacation of all the tenants in the entire hostel, as the building is unsafe for habitation, as a result of the dangerous crack, which had already worsened from what it used to be on Tuesday.
