The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig Gen YD Ahmed, has said that the discharge certificate being paraded by Enugu State Governor-elect, Barr Peter Mbah, was not issued by the body.

Brig Gen Ahmed who was a guest on Arise Television’s breakfast programme, Friday, the argument on whether Mbah has a valid NYSC certificate or not, does not arise because he has told the PDP candidate in the 2023 governorship elections that what he presented as a certificate was fake.

“He came to me and I called my director to confirm the certificate and we discovered that the certificate was fake and I told him…I wonder how elites who have gone to school will resort to black market certificates. Everyone knows how we issue our certificate in NYSC we don’t give it in hotel rooms or houses, the DG said.

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has accused the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, of demanding $2million bribe from him.

In an interview with BBC Hausa Service monitored by our Correspondent, Governor Matawalle also said he has evidence against the EFCC boss, insisting that Bawa could not be trusted.

Recall that earlier on Wednesday, Matawalle called for Bawa’s resignation, saying he had questions to answer on alleged corruption.

But, the EFCC chairman fired back on Thursday, saying he had nothing to hide and asked Matawalle to petition appropriate authorities if he had any evidence against him.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has revealed what he believed was the reason why Unknown Gunmen attacked a team of officials from the Lagos Consulate of the United States of America and their police escorts (USA) in Anambra State.

CP Echeng disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the Command’s Headquarters in Amawbia, during a press briefing on the attack.

It would be recalled that unidentified gunmen, at about 2.pm on Tuesday, laid an ambushment on the convoy of US consulate officials along Atani/Osamala Road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, which left seven of the persons in the convoy dead, with two others missing.

Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma his Rivers State counterpart Nyesom Wike and other top Nigeria politicians have been banned from visiting the United States of America, USA, for undermining the Democratic Process in Nigeria during the last Presidential/State House of Assembly Elections.

Uzodinma and Wike made headlines in March after he superintended over what many describe as the “worst display of electoral malfeasance and rigging in the state’s history”.

In a statement on Monday, by the US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken said “the United States is committed to supporting and advancing democracy in Nigeria and around the world. Gunmen suspected to be terrorist herdsmen have killed 10 people in Apa and Gwer West Local Government Areas of Benue state.

Our correspondent gathered that the 10 people were killed in two separate attacks on communities in Apa and Gwer West LGAs.

Speaking to newsmen on phone, the National Chairman of Apa Development Association, Barrister Eche Akpoko, said three villages were attacked on Friday/Saturday by suspected herdsmen including Akpanta, Ochumeko and Ijaha villages while Akpanta and Ogwuji villages were burnt down by the attackers while three people were killed at Ijaha village.

Three natives of Ezza South Local Government Area have been confirmed dead after the convoy of David Umahi, Ebonyi State Governor, crashed into their motorcycle. It has been reported that the casualties were struck by an advance team while they were on the route leading to Muhammadu Buhari’s international airport.

It was reported that they had dropped the state governor at the airport located at Onueke, and while returning to town, the tragic incident occurred.

According to reports, the incident happened soon after the opening of a flyover named after Prince Arthur Eze at Abaomege in the local government area of Onicha.

Prince Arthur Eze, together with Governor Umahi, commissioned the flyover.

It was then learned that shortly after the commissioning ceremony, the governor left for Abuja.

However, Prince Arthur Eze and the state’s deputy governor, Eric Kelechi Igwe, left the accident scene and consoled the victims’ families before ordering that they be taken to the hospital and then sped off to Enugu State.

The victims’ motorcycle and the involved Sienna were irreparably damaged, albeit their names and the registration number of the unfortunate car were not yet known at the time this report was filed.

The social media was agog over the weekend with videos of a 9-year-old girl who was physically manhandled by her guardian at their residence in Anambra State.

According to a viral social media video, the incident happened in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.

The Imo State University, Owerri, has suspended one of its lecturers, Desmond Izunwanne, for alleging slapping of his female students who allegedly arrived a class session behind schedule and in non departmental uniform.
The spokesperson for the University, Ralph Njokuobi, in a statement in Owerri, the state capital, said that the lecturer’s action was “barbaric and unbecoming.”

The Senate Tuesday directed the Minister of Aviation , Senator Hadi Sirika to stop forthwith, planned demolition of some Aviation agencies ‘ offices and headquarters in Lagos pending outcome of intervention being made by its committee on Aviation .
Resolution of the Senate to this effect , followed a motion moved by Senator Biodun Olujimi ( PDP Ekiti South)) , on urgent need of Senate intervention on the intending warning strike by Aviation Unions .
Olujimi in the motion called the attention of the Senate to intending warning strike by the Union of Air Transport Employees , Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria , Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals , National Association of Aircrafts Pilots and Engineers etc

n a viral video displayed, some students who are currently trapped in Sudan have alleged that the federal government have failed to accommodate them in the evacuation without any clear explanation.

The video sited by our correspondent, students were seen stranded in the deserted street of Sudan, where they called on their wealthy brothers and philanthropists to assist in evacuating them outside the federal government arrangements.

In their unanimous appeal, the students stated that there is no single attention given to them by the agents of the federal government who are paid currently to evacuate them.

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has described the National Grazing Reserves Council Bill, before the National Assembly as a land grabbing legislation deliberately designed to make Nigerians slaves in their own country to serve the selfish and parochial interest of herdsmen in the country.
The governor in Abuja yesterday, when Terna Tehermba, hosted him for his 62 birthday.
Ortom expressed worry that since 2016, which the presidency introduced the grazing reserve bill to the National Assembly which was rejected based on public outcry, it has not given up the idea of having the bill passed bringing it up using different names.
