Last month, herdsmen sacked a community in Delta, killing no fewer than 10 people. The community had banned the sale and consumption of beef following the incidence. In the same vein, the government of Delta State led by Gov. Okowa is muting the idea of banning the sale of beef a state law. This last week, there was a viral video of a fulani herdsman threatening to kill a young Igbo farmer who was seen working on his farm. Aside the fact that several villages had been sacked in Enugu and hundreds killed, herdsmen have had a field day in Ebonyi, Ananbra, Imo and neighbouring states.
SW, SS, NC, NW, NE have also had their fair share of the herdsmen's menance.
Soon after Amotekun was launched, Gov. Umahi came out to say Amotekun was a stolen idea from the Southeast. How could an idea that has no name, no modalities, no structures be stolen?.
Last we heard, Southeast governors have accepted community policing, shortly before the adoption, Gov. Umahi told us that the southeast were seeking permission from the President to establish their own security outfit. The adoption of community policing instead of an homogeneous security outfit has thrown Ohaneze and the Governors apart with the former storming out of Southeast summit.
The hullabaloo which greeted Malami's statement on Amotekun was summarily doused with Tinubu's intervening and Malami retracting his earlier statement. Since then, processes have been ongoing to legalize the outfit.
Arising from NEC meeting, Umahi addresses the press that governors of the federation have jettisoned regional security outfit while Ruga have been approved. Such is the mindset of a mischievous devil. The question for Umahi is, when had NEC become the finality for State's affairs in the country?.

If Umahi knows that the possibility of having a security outfit similarly to Amotekun has slipped off the hands of SE, why is he hell bent on blackmailing Amotekun?. Need i refresh some memory, the SW Governors met with the Vice President in the company of the IG where a nod was given for the take off of Amotekun. So why is Umahi pained that SW are setting the pace where the SE are slumping?.. whose faults?.. Why is he acting as a mischievous devil from the other side?.

If Umahi and his colleagues in the south east leadership are too lazy to go through the rigours of establishing a well structured security outfit, he should blame his culpability as the Chairman of SE Governors rather than wanting Amotekun to fail as they have failed. Whatever his aim and that of his folks wishing that Amotekun fails, it is sad news for them because Amotekun has come to stay.

This was exactly how Ojukwu pushed millions of ibos into their untimely death.
