When the Nigerian Army released an audio of Shekau crying like a baby during Ramadan fasting, we told Buhari and Buratai to not be deceived but did they heed our warnings?.
The so called DRR Program of this Administration is unbelievably ridiculous. During the Civil War, the captured biafran soldiers weren't released back into the society until after the end of the war.

Betty is the worst tribalistic demon ever. Take a lil break off NL sensationalism and go figure how horrendously she has turned the Government house into her village square.
Get your facts right - the newly appointed nudist is an indigene of imo state and hardly a resident of ondo, notwithstanding she was appointed fresh off her NYSC. Remember that as recently as last week, Betty returned from imo on a visit. She often goes ferrying her people to occupy the spaces in the Secretariat. Betty is power drunk, likewise, headlines every negative news at the state house.

All this rant is over just one word, substantial? Well, below is the meaning and that is what I had in mind when I used the word. If you or sesan interpreted it to mean 75% to 80%, well that's not my problem.

You cannot deny the fact that a good number of Yoruba men are married to Igbo women or have Igbo grandmothers. Oh well, I expect another emotional outbursts about 'good number'.

Top 5 reasons why Yoruba men marry Igbo ladies 3 years ago 157854 views by Temitope Popoola

Inter-tribal marriage in Nigeria is inevitable; it is near impossible for the people of a particular tribe in Nigeria not to marry outside that tribe. Read more: https://www.legit.ng/892109-5-reasons-yoruba-men-love-marry-igbo-ladies.html

Odiani were not imposed with Igbo names.
It happened naturally. They naturally wanted to be like their Enu-ani neighbors.

No one forced anything on them.

You know the first Igbo miss Nigeria, then Miss Helen Anyamelune, she was from Odiani and her victory in 1958 was celebrated by Igbo Union.

Leave them alone, they have fully assimilated. All of them. Only Ugbodu still have vestiges of Yoruba. The others like Ukwu nzu are 100% assimilated. Ugbodu will follow through in time.
It's only natural.
We have Igbos in Isoko who migrated from Mgbidi(Imo) and Awka (Anambra) to Isokoland. They have been fully Isokonized with just vestiges of Igbo in them. You don't see Ndiigbo crying over them?

Yorubas have Yorubanized the Edo people in Isua, Ipe, Epinmi in Akoko SE, and countless others.
Edo have Edonized Yorubas in Usen, and parts of Akoko Edo.

It's natural way of things, don't come here to demonize Ndiigbo.
We never forced the process on Odiani. They happily embraced us.
Loads of hogwash!!!

It is criminal of you to change their collective identity from Olukumi to Odiani for the fact that they share boundary with their Enuani neighbors. As i said earlier, assimilation is not unnatural but an attempt at changing people's collective identity is criminal.
If being Yorubanised means bearing Yoruba names and speaking the language but never in such a dubious manner of changing someone else's identity or suppressing their collective identity with that of the majority. I have never heard Yoruba do such to any group of people however small in number. You are a joke.

They are now called Odiani and not Olukumi. They have been assimilated as Enu-ani Igbos.
This exactly was your antics when you had a government over the minorities during the regional era. You covetously imposed ibo names and language on them while converting their properties under the guise of influence. You changed the name of a people from Olukumi to Odiani just because they are among the majority ibo, which has always been your tool for oppressing the minorities. Do you think you can erode someone else's ancestry?, do you think the Olukumi are as daft?. Same for other groups of minorities which you have covetously claimed. Thankfully, the new media age is giving them the right leverage to expose your debauchery.

Zik had just Igbos votes.

Additionally, election results in Nigeria are about as useless as determing ethnic census because of the usual irregularities that take place.
Zik, who was the darling of the minorities suddenly became the daredevil in a switch. Awo turned him from a beautiful swan to a ugly duckling while Awo whom the minorities had never wanted became the toast of all. Awo made him look so bad that only ibos voted for him.

Olukumi in Anioma speak Yoruboid language and acknowledge descending from Owo, but are they Yorubas? grin
Same is applicable to those Ife people in Togo.
They are Ife descendants, but they are not Yorubas.
They have evolved a new identity of their own.
Ijebu are supposed to be descendants of Sudan and not Ife ,It took them time to accept the Yoruba tag, but they are Yorubas today, thanks to Awolowo emergence as Yoruba leader.

There are many Edoid speaking groups in Akoko SE in Ondo, but they are Yorubas today because they have forged a bond with the rest of Yoruboid tribes around them.
The Usen people in Ovia SW in Edo are basically Yorubas, I have been there, they speak a Yoruboid language, their King is called Elawure(a clearly Yoruba word) and not Ovie/Ogie/Ojie as found amongst Edoids. But they are proud of their Edo identity, because for some reason, they were not involved in the formation of Yoruba as an ethnic group from the beginning and have always flown with the Edos. My good friend from Usen is named Olarenwaju.

You will never be able to convince anyone that those Togolese are Yorubas. We can accept they migrated from groups that formed Yoruba and have now evolved their own distinct entities.
I still wouldn't understand why some Yoruba peeps keep engaging in a prolonged argument with people of thoughtless and disjointed mindset. How can a Yoruba subgroup be a descendant of Ife and at the same time are not Yoruba. How dumb does that sound.
Heard the land-grabbing ibos are now claiming the Olukumis as being ibos. How more inferior would the ibos prove themselves to be.

In SW Nigeria today, due to the high rate of inter-tribal marriages, a substantial number of Yorubas have 50% Igbo blood to as high as 75% or 80% Igbo blood (those with Igbo mothers and Igbo paternal grandparents), despite being 'Yoruba by name'. Yoruba by name, Igbo by DNA.
You're sick, unwell and insane.
PoliticsRe: Top 10 Africa's Most Populous Ethnic Groups. Yoruba is number 3 by unbitchable(m):

Let me start from bottom up. grin

Yoruba/Igbo intermarriage is very few when compared individually with Yoruba/Bini, Yoruba/Itsekiri, Yoruba/Tapa, Yoruba/Fulani, Yoruba/Bariba, Yoruba/Hausa.

Beside Igbo, none of these other groups ever highlight and jubilate in the town square of their mix relationship or blood with Yoruba. To them, their marriage to Yoruba, an outsider, is no more significant than a marriage within their own group. To the Igbo on the other hand, this is a marriage UP. A significant acquisition of pedigree and class. Hence it is a highlight in your consciousness, a pride. From the Yoruba perspective, we are unperturbed!

On DNA, if you observe there is disclaimer on the "accuracy" of the result that is issued. Beyond that....I don't care if there were 1million Igbo in diaspora but only 100 Yorubas....the point is Yoruba is the acclaimed dominant group in consciousness, self-worth and sense of justice. Others accepted the slave master as a superior, Yoruba challenged that. Indeed Yoruba regarded the slave master as an inferior, a barbarian! In the travel of Lander and Clapperton they spoke severally about the disdain with which they were treated in Yorubaland. They could not find porters and they were not considered noble enough to sit on the richly woven mats and rugs reserved for noble visitors to Alaafin.

Yoruba Ifa is not a religion, it is a spirituality. The philosophy and morality and ethos of living is all packaged into it. It is more than a religion, it is the code for righteousness in living. If you were more in number in diaspora and you left Africa same way as Yoruba left Africa, a slave....why did your Igbo majority accept the minority Yoruba way of life? What happened to yours? You were weak, he was strong and refined.

Igbo influence lingers in more subtle ways,
I had to laugh at this one... grin Have you ever heard a trumpet claiming it had to muffle its notes in an ensemble? An Igbo being subtle in areas of influence is an excuse for laxity and incapacity to influence at all. Stop using this line please. grin

When we explore the origin, and lexicon, of pidgin English credit has to go to Warri, period!
Saved the best reply for the last. ibos couldn't influence other minority populations of slaves outside the shores by their acclaimed large numbers, as they vigorously did the minorities within the eastern region. So much for "subtle influence". They are weak, have no class nor personalty - simply put. They succeeded in the eastern region because they had a Government over the minorities without which they were spineless outside of the shores.

* Ridiculously gloating over a DNA testing that has returned their Jewish ancestry they love to postulate a null and void. They seem to be getting bloated by the African American DNA testing. There will be no cure for fools!

*More worryingly, his last paragraph which was replete with spurious and false claims such that I wish I had him on chokehold. a significant number of Yoruba have 50% ibo blood to as high as 75-80% Igbo blood/DNA. -- Madness!!!

What is the rate of Yoruba/ibo intermarriage and when (which year) did it start ffs!. These bunch of low self-esteem folks keep proving us right that they indeed do pull off figures from their father's ass and throw it on their mother's face.

Hopefully I would have a spare time off my busy schedule to open a thread to highlight and expose his demonic claims on the Yoruba population. Their Lies are becoming damn too much to condone.

Many ibo prominent scholars, were products of Western Education during the period. How many prominent Nigerians of other tribes including prominent ibos are Eastern trained during the same period?. So much so that many foreigners were also beneficiaries of free Western Education & Health care.
I have noticed a new trend of some unscrupulous number of ibos trying to rewrite history under "Anonymous or unknown sources" in a bid to massage their tribal ego. How does a group of people feel that lying to themselves is the best way to boost their feel-good factor admist the present condescending realities that have beaten them hollow. Such habit is disgusting to sane minds.
Although, I have a little pity for you, it's an extremely difficult life to have gone through both physical and mental defeat.
