All the hyperventilations and angst you are trying to dissipate have failed to answer the critical question which border on the veracity of this purported achievement.

I care less whether your tribesman re-invented the wheel or untied the Gordian knot.

What stands out here like a sore thumb is that the whole stuff looks suspect. I am not culpable for you allowing yourself to be beclouded by tribal sentiments.
Oh on the contrary I think you are the one wallowing under the shackles and influence of tribal sentiment, I'm not even from the SW, I only gave an insight to the research you claim to have. Nothing sarcatic.

And oh u miss again,,,, you care MORE with what the yorubas achieved, your conscience could not justified you on that, the pain in your write up also betrayed your submission. Debunk it....I'm watching!

I googled the name Dr Opeyemi Enoch and was expecting him to be feted by the international media for making a such groundbreaking stride.

To my chagrin it was the motley of Nigerian blogsites reporting the news.

This so-called solution get serious k-leg. How can an epoch making intellectual feat that can possibly fetch the doer unparalleled international recognition at par with the Nobel Prize just fly under the radar just like that?

Nigerians and their mental laziness...
It's so pathetic as to how you peddled tribalism just to truncate a claim or simple fact. If the name up there was an igbo name I'm sure you will be a positive commentator and an avenue to unleash your everlasting issult on the SW....the same google you claim brought out only local blogs was the same mechanism that brought out "globaljournalism.org and other sites that are not local, all you did was to go through the first page and your research work is done. What a pity.

Instead of looking for cheap avenue to contravene a fact just to score cheap negative point and promulgate ethinic and tribal bigotry which always leads to hostile environment why don't create a merit driven society deviod of these social menace. Or is it an abomination to foster ethnic unity? Smh

THIS, I AM

****
Like the Atlantic Ocean my shortcomings are seen
Like a raven lunatic I threaded always, the deviant path
Unkempt as to defining everything, my ways, to them are sins
Yet I was call not of evil but of good even with my deviant path

****
My actions though unguarded, was never meant to hurt
I was neither meant to be perfect, nor even created to be one
I crave for them to look through me, beyond my disgusting being
And see the things I perfected, even in imperfect being

****
I was neglected since I decided not to change my ways
My future left unprotected as they shift the pole I leaned
In their heart I was a disgrace and in time they hoped I fail
In my quest to be different I must walk the lonely way

****
They interpreted my actions with contempt,
Pointing me towards an unknown future
They persisted my cause toward a vague end, but No!
My mind was made, not the bad they see but the good I behold,

****
Down the years it has been glorious with bitter-sweet sacrifices,
Never will I assume the catalyst to see this rose gross in agony,
Rendering the karnel to shed its clothes
But never put it back on itself,

****
This, I call to prove that which is proven
Even then I crave their loving heart,
That they consider my passion, so it does not woven,
For I'm clothed by my choice certainly but not to hurt a heart,

****
Their perception though, rob me of being the desired lad,
The pillar of my decision was not of evil or cursed
But of blessings; even in my imperfection,
This, they take amiss,

****
Though not here to convince otherwise;
I tour the path of elusive one, in their sight
My stand was mistaken, all along
Yet my action vindicated my later

****
Above all!
My soul joyed of the love, the happiness, the joy,
The tranquility, the bond that defines my success,
For tedious the toiling took me alone
Yet the rejected stone became the corner stone

Brief Analysis:

Notable is a conventional Nigeria society where parent, relatives or guardian(s) assume the responsibility of making preference for their ward when it comes career choice. This however, have often than not mislead the career of children where the practice remain formidable. Not until recently that few changes are noticed as a result of civilization but statistic still have it that more parent require satisfactory orientation to let go this acts. This is a poem that explore the traumatic experience of an adamant and reluctant but self determined child whose parent thought his choice of career is a disgrace to them, they try changing him but he would not just give in to their pressures, thus they left him to face the reality of life alone. He toiled, he saw the ups and downs, the ugly face of reality in pain and agony in his career but eventually he succeeded. A lesson and an indictment to those parent , relatives and guardian(s) who still believe they reserve the right to chose their children's endeavours career-wise.

To those who have passion toward a career or the other that seem abomination to his/her parent or guardian(s), hence they tend not to support your choice in life, don't just give up or shy away from your passion. Yes the journey maybe difficult, tedious, but certainly achievable, why then should you allow anybody's scorn discourage you from following your path. Look at the likes of *Denrele Edun* and *Charlie Boy*, I'm sure their respective choice of careers were not welcome by their parent/guardian(s), but they defile all odds and pushed on, whether you like them or not, today, they are successful individuals.

**** follow your dream even when people say you are mad, you will surely succeed.****

fratermathy:
"Not" you mean?

Amongst Yorubas, there are groups such as Igbomina and Okun that believe their geopolitical zoning may have affected their lot politically and otherwise. Some of them see themselves as being in a dilemma. These people are fully Yorubas but at the National level, yorubas sociopolitical groups see them as Northerners and Northerners see them as Yorubas. Because of this, some of them simply say I am Igbomina or Okun, instead of I am Yoruba. This is simply because they feel it'd be better to fashion their own distinct identity. This has informed their clamour for a separate states! This, in no way, negates their Yoruba status. It is purely political!
Thank you....

I'm an Okun person. And I'm purely Yoruba, the truth be told Okun have suffer discrimination from her kins and kits(Yoruba)....it even worse that such things still persist in this age....I was born and brought up in the north, I speak Hausa more than Yoruba but I understand the language, in my school here in Lagos I found myself in our director's office for a meeting. Somehow she found out I couldn't speak Yoruba fluently and realize I was Okun, then she ask me never to step in her office again until I speak Yoruba better. Imaging that. This whole thing is political, I simply don't know what the Yorubas aim at achieving with this ooooo...

Kirigidi:
@Uncjay, why all these insults nd aggressiv words! Did u even undastand my post, u who claim to knw so much? I was only pointin out to OP dat he shuldn't b hasty in his conclusion dat all of those words were borrowd by Urhobo frm Yoruba nd Igbo languages just because Urhobo is a minority language. Dat there is also possibility dat som of those words ar aborigine to d Urhobo language, nd were rather even borrowd frm us by Yoruba nd Igbo languages. For ur informatn, I hav good sense of history nd I knw wat I just pointed out for correctn.
Bros I don't seem to understand how you justify certain things and judge another, it's unfortunate when your comments are been quoted and objectively criticize that it suddenly becomes an insult or abuses. If only you read me well and not base your interest on areas you think I insulted you probably you'd have get my point. I concur to the fact that no language is absolutely independent in itself (u shud check again), and before you can claim anything you should do the needful homework, is that not my assertion that now becomes an insult? That Urhobo borrow from Igbo and Yoruba does not make the language any less unique and vice versa, but you indicted the op because he say they borrow those words and not the other way round, minority is a taboo to you, and that's why anywhere you hear or see it you consider yourself a taboo trying hard to paint another picture...all languages are unique and I respect that I don't know you. So stop peddling hate cos Urhobo is not the only language that lends....

Your last sentence show obvious you lack confidence in yourself, the simple truth is there won't be need for this because all you would have done is constructively fetch out the root of those words as existed in Urhobo and established your argument period.
