A 50-year-old Philadelphia woman named Sharolyn Jackson died, was laid to rest by her family and then turned up very much alive just 13 days after her funeral. Jackson was declared dead by a medical examiner on August 3rd after what was believed to be her body was discovered on the street. She was said to have died from natural causes and was identified by her son and social worker. And then … something crazy happened.
While it remains unknown how exactly Jackson disappeared, CBS Philly reported that she showed up at a mental health facility looking frazzled nearly two weeks after she was purportedly buried.
Naturally, her family was thrilled to see their loved, but there was just one problem: Who the heck did they bury?

The identity of the woman the family mourned and held a funeral for is still unknown, though the body is set to be exhumed, so they’ll probably figure all that out soon enough. So far, city officials say they know the body is that of an unidentified woman who was found dead from natural causes July 20th on a West Philadelphia street.

When a social worker who knows Jackson — and her son — both identified pictures of the dead woman as Ms. Jackson, the Medical Examiner’s Office signed a death certificate, allowing an undertaker to remove her body for funeral services and burial. A representative of the Philadelphia Health Department says all proper procedures were followed by workers and, with two people, including a family member, identifying her, it was following protocol to release the body.
Let’s hope the family of whoever they originally buried is able to get some closure and lay the woman to rest themselves.

Since her appointment as a Global Polio ambassador, Funke hasn’t been able to do much in terms of creating awareness and sensitizing the public on preventive measures aimed at arresting the menace. So when the Rotary Club bike marathon idea was proposed, she quickly joined in and rode for a few miles as her quota of the fight.

Funke enjoyed the bike race not only as a means to be at the forefront of events, but also as a personal avenue to exercise.

But Waris Dirie really caught the world’s attention in 1997 when she opened up about her horrific female genital mutilation (FGM) ordeal. She has since campaigned tirelessly against the practice and now her efforts have been recognised in the form of a Woman of the Year Campaigning award.
Waris, now 48 and living in Poland with her four children, was just five years old when she was subjected to FGM in her home country of Somalia.

She was then forced into marrying a 60-year-old man when she was just thirteen, a threat which left her no choice but to flee to Mogadish, where she had family. She later moved to London to live with relatives and worked in a local McDonald's before getting her big break when she was scouted by a fashion photographer in the 1990s.

Her career as a supermodel went from strength to strength and she starred in Chanel campaigns and even made a cameo appearance in James Bond movie, The Living Daylights. But her life was fickle. ‘I thought, “This is b*****t, fake. I couldn’t sleep one more night knowing the truth about what was happening to girls,’ she told The Guardian. And that’s when she decided to speak up.

The practice – which many believe leaves a girl ‘clean’ in preparation for her marriage - usually happens before girls reach the age of fifteen but can be performed on babies at birth too. It causes intense pain, risk of infection and can even lead to fatal childbirth later in life.

A Zimbabwean woman, 39-year-old Annie Mpariwa who breastfed a neighbour’s baby without her consent faces a possible two-year sentence for deliberately infecting another person with HIV after she tested positive.The case was deferred to October 24 to allow a second HIV test to be performed on the toddler. The child’s initial results were negative. Mpariwa was arrested last week on charges of common nuisance and should the child test positive; the charge will be raised to “deliberately infecting another person with HIV”. The mother of the 14-month-old baby said seeing her child being breastfed by her neighbour was traumatising.

She alleged that her neighbour snatched the child while she was playing outside and hid her in her room. After searching for the child for quite some time, she went and knocked on Mpariwa’s rented room and got no response. Upon peeping through the window, she saw her breastfeeding the little girl.
I was shocked. I nearly fainted,” she said, adding that her breasts were leaking milk yet she was not a nursing mother or pregnant.

We all remember the bloke who made Tonto cry well now he is back again, dropping a video for his song ‘Rundis’. His name goes by 2G(Formerly known as “Chief Capo”) and he is a music act and entertainer born and bred in Lagos. He however moved to Atlanta in 2005 to pursue other business ventures.
