Please advice me on this. I got my Canada visa and supposed to resume in January, I wont be able to resume till May.
Do I need to communicate with CIC about deferring my admission after obtaining the visa?
If i go to Canada in December and resume in school to deffer my admission and return to my current resident, does that have any negative implication when i intend to return in May ?

Naija statement of account. about 4M in the statement and was printed since June.

put the address of your current resident . not address of your home country if you are not living in Nigeria.also while applying online, they going to ask you which country you applying from

you have to be living in that country legally either as a resident or Student . Also, you will have to do Biometrics in the nearest place to your resident address. I indicated every where possible that i am currently doing masters in the US .

i just resumed here about four weeks ago. came in here with all my docs including medicals from Nigeria. and Police report. to be honest,I dont understand why CIC takes 14 weeks in naija. I have just started a masters program here and I dont know if i can Quit to move to Canada.

invariably i would say i can enter a small country on study permit and apply from there for canada study permit.cos i can see you recently came to US on a study visa which your program has not ended if i am right?

Sorry to hear that, but you can schedule a new appointment quickly as the wait time for students is only 2 days. Make sure to bring in any documentation from the school showing that you have been reinstated and the new SEVIS and I-20.

I am afraid I will have to get another Visa. My new sevis ID is different from the one on my Visa stamped. The school refused to send me 120 with same sevis ID as the old one.

If your visa is still valid, you can travel, but you must make sure that your SEVIS number is the same as the one printed on your visa in the annotation. A few comments though - you may have trouble at the POE with the CBP agents because you did not start as intended. Also, your visa will only be valid for another year after you start, which means you will have to come back to Nigeria for a renewal, if you plan to leave the U.S. during your studies.

Can I still use my Visa to resume in Fall as I intend to?

I have been a follower of this section,I must say you guys are doing a great free service .
Please I got admission to Lethbridge college for an IT program that suites my career line. I have four years experience as an IT pro. I got US student visa in December but didnt travel due to some circumstances that was beyond me and they moved my resumption to fall (Also got married that december).
So now am preparing my application to the CIC in June and I already paid half of my tuitions . My Question is:
Do i need to mention in my SOP why i didnt go to the USA with my student Visa in January and while i suddenly switched to Canada school?
I am using my brother as sponsor AND he is only providing sufficient statement of account, No land and all other documents, would this matter to the CIC if I only submit his SOA without his properties documents?
If I apply in June, can i get my Passport back on before August ? Just in case I am denied so I can proceed to the USA for my study.

The school refused to send my I-20 WITH my Old Sevis ID. They kept saying there is no issue with sending another I-20 with different ID. Thanks for sharing your experience . I do really hope i dont have to go to the embassy again

At this point I'm not so sure if you need another visa or not that bears the new sevis number because the current one on your visa is different from the sevis number on your I-20. Like during my time I didn't want to take any chances like inconsistency issues at the POE so I had my school resend me my I20 bearing the sevis number as is on my visa, because there was time and I wasn't in a hurry. If other people formerly in your shoes were able to successfully get through the POE without any issues, I doubt you would have any issues.

they have transferred the payment and updated my record. It looks like I might not need to re-appear at the embassy as mentioned by AbujaNIV. but thats still not clear to me

Oh no, you need to contact your international student office informing them of the previous SEVIS number you were given and how you've paid your SEVIS fee with it. They will issue you another I-20 with the old SEVIS ID. This may take another 1 month to process and have them mail it to you. Or else, you would have to pay another $200 SEVIS fee. Did your school make you pay for courier services to mail your current I-20 to you? If yes, they may make you pay for the corrected one with the old SEVIS ID to be sent to you. If so, you might as well just go ahead and pay another $200 using the new SEVIS ID.

Update: or you can try contacting DHS to transfer your $200 payment from the old sevis I'd to the new one.

They actually did the Sevis Transfer for me two days ago. Its still Unclear if I will need to re-appear at the embassy . But my Sevis has been updated to my new ID

Those FAQ do not answer all questions, your best bet is to call them and explain to them and they would tell you if your transfer is possible or not.
You don't need to pay another sevis fee or request for another I-20 with old sevis. All you need to do is to call dhs in as much as its same program and same school. It is as easy as that. I already send messages to Austin and Akin who did same to come online and tell you themselves. Note: They both got their visa before the transfer of SEVIS ID.

I was the person who told him to contact you cos I was aware you deferred your admission as well. You can ask him yourself via bbm (I was with the Austin from day1) . You should know well he filled his DS160 in my house in Lagos. I gave him your contact for GRE registration which I encouraged and bullied him personally. So lets leave that side. There is nothing about his visa stuff I don't know.

It is left for UNIXLover to use any channel available to him. I am only stating the obvious which I am 100% sure.
