Education / Seven Categories Of Students Found In Hostel by UNIZIKMATA(m): 5:03pm On Feb 21, 2019
SEVEN CATEGORIES OF STUDENTS FOUND IN HOSTEL: Let’s look into the different categories of students we see in our campus hostels..

1. The Introverts
Honestly, I think the Federal Government needs to establish a rehab for these set of people. You only get to see them twice a day; when they have lectures to attend, and when get back from school. They live a totally mundane kind of life. Only God knows what they do or the fun they derive from staying indoors like forever. Maybe the are also glued to their phones trying to win the First to Comment (FTC) trophy on every Nairaland’s thread; just like their godmother, INTROVERT.

2. Brother John and Sister Mary
People in this category need little or no introduction. They live the simplified triangular campus lifestyle. From Hostel to Class to Church, then back to the Hostel again. They wake up as early as 3am to pray till 6 o’clock in the morning; like they’re the only humans with problems. I mean, even their guardian angels as still wide asleep by that time! There’s this one next to my room that prays like she’s having a seizure and hiccups simultaneously. So annoying!

3. The O.B.O
This is the lad/lass that has the tightest wardrobe, classic ride, well furnished apartment, cute babe e.t.c. Lest I forget, just like Ice Prince, they don’t wear a shoe twice too. Lol

4. The Amebos
Darn! Nothing good comes out of these people. You find them everywhere their attention is never needed. They come to borrow match stick from you only to return it 30 seconds later. As if that’s not enough, you hear a knock 2minutes after their previous escapade. Now they want your pen! All these unthinkable display of mental retardation just because they want to have an inkling of what you’re doing with your female guest. Totally infuriating.

Crime / Nigerian Activist Shares An Update On The 15-year Old Girl Married Off To A 66-Y by UNIZIKMATA(m): 2:07pm On Feb 05, 2019
Few days back, a Human Right Activist, Prince Harrison Gwamnishu shared a story of a 15-year old pregnant girl simply identified as Ebube, who was forced into marriage with a 66-year-old man.

Now he's back with an update on the efforts his team has made so far in saving the young girl from the forced marriage.

Prince Harrison Gwamnishu shared photos of Ebube on his Facebook page and wrote:

#RetrieveEbube
14YEARS PREGNANT GIRL FORCED INTO CHILD MARRIAGE WITH 66YEARS OLD MAN IN NNEWI, ANAMBRA STATE.

This evening, we rounded up our investigation in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Ebube was 14yrs, staying with her aunty when she got pregnant and was chased away. Her parents rejected her. The street became her shelter. Her family heard about a 65yrs old man (Now 66yrs) who was looking for a wife and Ebube was remembered.

Ebube was married out to the man with her pregnancy.

She was happy when she heard she's leaving the marriage for school #PenNotPenis

Early marriage is a huge violation of human rights. #RespectHumanRights

The 21st century is the age when every person, regardless of age, gender and social status, can do anything and follow their dreams with full support from their family. Sadly, many young girls do not have a voice in the matter.

They are raised to believe that they are made for serving their husbands, without a chance to get proper education and profession, when in reality women can be powerful and inspirational, and achieve great things.

Child Marriage is not a northern thing as we are made to believe #EndChildMarriage

THE GOODNEWS IS, SHE'S NOT SPENDING THIS WEEKEND IN NNEWI. #RetrieveEbube. We are paying everything paid to free her from Modern day slavery #SexSlave

Education / Fire Outbreak At UNIZIK Mass Communication Studio Extension (photos) by UNIZIKMATA(m): 2:27pm On Feb 03, 2019
Just In: Fire Outbreak At UNIZIK Mass Communication Studio Extension: There was a fire outbreak at the Admin Block of Faculty of Social Sciences this morning, causing a major damage at the MASS COMMUNICATION STUDIO EXTENSION.

According to eyewitness, the fire outbreak started at about 5:30am. As of the time of filing this report, the security personnel and some students were on ground with industrial fire extinguishers preventing the fire from escalating to other axis of the building.

The cause of the fire outbreak could possibly be some electrical faults as nobody was around when the fire broke out.

Speaking after the incident, the SUG vice president, Comr. Uwah Cynthia, thanked the Chief Security Officer (CSO), and the security personnel for a job well done in seeing that the fire did not get to other buildings. The SUG P.R.O, Okafor Samuel Iheanacho also appreciated the CSO and the security personnel for their prompt response. He also commended the efforts of the security personnel as he said "the positive impact of the security personnel in the school cannot be overemphasized. The students are proud of you all".

He further said that the SUG president couldn't make it to the scene because of ill-health. The SUG VP and SUG P.R.O appreciated all other non security personnel, the nearby residents and Jupeb students who were on groung to render their support.

Finding the right place to live that is quite decent,Pocket friendly and has the Basic amenities and making the right choice could be a herculean task for most freshers, going by the very exorbitant prices of Student Lodges in Awka and exploitative nature of most 'Caretakers and house agents.' We have compiled a list of some of the places most Zikites live,to help guide our new students, bearing in mind that where you eventually decide to stay has a direct relationship with your academic performance.

Education / Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka: Update On 2018/2019 Admission by UNIZIKMATA(m): 1:12am On Nov 20, 2018
According to the university's Director of Information and Public Relations/Chief Protocol Officer:
The following listed courses admitted every single candidate who made its cut-off criteria (shown as a combination of UTME-PostUTME-aggregate scores) (with the exception of those with wrong subject combinations). This was approved during the merit admission exercise.
Subsequently, every candidate who made above 50% in post-UTME from any department was admitted and re-distributed to other departments depending on available space and performance.
Further, every candidate who had up to 40% (post-UTME) and 200 (aggregate) in the Faculty of Management Science was admitted.
Then, every candidate who had up to 40% (post-UTME) and 160 (aggregate) in the Faculties of Environmental Science and Engineering was also admitted.
Candidates who meet the above criteria and are yet to be admitted should be patient as the admission process has not ended. The University has forwarded the list of all candidates who met the criteria above to JAMB and with time, their details would reflect on the University portal. This is equally to advise prospective candidates to be wary of admission racketeers as the University is committed to a transparent admission process.

Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, Mnipr, Fcia
Director, Information and Public Relations/Chief Protocol Officer
