Lionel Messi is underperforming at the World Cup because he is so tired, according to his father Jorge. “He is exhausted and feels as if his legs weigh 100 kilos each,” said Messi Sr. His words will not reassure Argentina fans who will be hoping for a dazzling display from their talismanic playmaker in Sunday's World Cup final against Germany. Ron Vlaar and his colleagues kept Messi quiet during the semi-final against the Netherlands as teams have realised the way to subdue Argentina is to man-mark the star. Indeed, Germany look set to adopt the same tactic, claiming they have a plan ready, although assistant coach Hansi Flick added: "We’re not going to reveal it.” http://www.view.com.ng/messi-is-exhausted-claims-his-father/

A controversial American-Nigerian actress and IndecentStar Afrocandy took a hard stance on the greed of Nigerian sellers. Afrocandy published a message on her Facebook page to blast Naija distributors who increased prices for her movies, preventing many fans from buying them. Read the full message below: Why are Nigerian Marketers too Greedy? Guys pls Do not Buy the Movie Destructive Instinct if the price is more than #300 cos I did not discuss that with the marketers they just wanna rip where they did not sow and it's not fare. How can they be selling my Movie for #500, #700, #1000 that's crazy. I made sure it would be cheap and available for all my Fans in Nigeria to be able to afford it so why the hike in price? Leave it for them let them eat it and you can go to Alaba and buy from the distributor at Contact Pointblank Productions, No: AB330 PIN: 22E048CE, 08033347062..... They've really thought me a big lesson now that I know Nigeria is ready for me, I will bring in my foreign Partners and let's do this motherf*cker. They will never smell my projects again if they keep up with this sh*t. Do you think the dealers would listen to Afrocandy and drop the price to suggested N300 per copy? Saheed Waliu, the 28-year-old, who was in a coma five months after being allegedly brutalised by some policemen, is dead. Waliu was said to have given up the ghost at about 9am last Sunday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. PUNCH Metro had on October 10, 2013, reported that Waliu was hospitalised at LASUTH, after suffering a brutal attack from yet-to-be identified policemen attached to the Highway patrol, along the LASU-Igando Road on May 8, 2013. He was reportedly on his way home with a friend, Sherif Eleda, when the incident occurred. Waliu’s aged mother had told PUNCH Metro that the policemen had thrown an iron rod at Waliu, causing him to fall from his bike. He was said to have suffered a cracked skull and a broken leg in the process. No formal complaint was made at the nearest police station to the scene of the incident. Waliu’s family at the time, were said to be more preoccupied with how to save his life. Despite the two surgeries performed on his head, Waliu reportedly never regained consciousness since the night of the attack. His aged mother, Sadiat, had reportedly kept vigil through the five-month ordeal in the hope that Waliu would get better. His sister, Taiwo, said, “We were outside the hospital ward as usual that Sunday when a nurse called to tell us that something was wrong. There was only one doctor available because of the strike. The doctor gave us some prescription to buy; she didn’t say what exactly had changed in Waliu’s condition. We left to buy the drugs. By the time we returned, they told us he was dead.” He was buried on Tuesday according to Muslim rites. Already, a non-governmental organisation, Know Your Rights Initiative, have written a petition to the Inspector General of Police on the issue. KYRI Legal Adviser, Mr. Omo Egbekuse, had said, “As soon as the matter came to our attention, we wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police, the Lagos State Police Commissioner and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2. We haven’t heard from them yet but expect that action would be taken in respect of this matter.” The Force Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, when contacted, said, “We condole with the family and friends of the deceased, who is said to have died on Sunday. However, while the Force does not condone any act of irresponsibility from its officers, we are constrained at the moment because of insufficient facts. “As it is, Waliu’s family cannot identify the policemen by names, the make of their car, registration number or the inscription of the vehicle. These are facts that make it easy to trace the offending officers, bring them to justice and quickly conclude the investigation. “While it is understandable “that the deceased’s family might not have taken note of some of these facts on the night of the incident, at least someone should have noticed the name tag of the alleged police assailants. “If the family of the deceased can make this information available to us, it would greatly help our investigation and ensure that those alleged to be responsible for Waliu’s death are brought to justice.” Punch Nigeria - See more at: http://www.ogusbaba.com/2013/10/man-saheed-waliu-in-five-month-coma-dies.html

One yet to be identified person died, Wednesday, while two policemen were also injured. at Oko-Oba area of Lagos State, following a bloody clash between policemen and hoodlums in the area. Vanguard gathered that the crisis started when policemen from Oko-Oba Police Division stormed a street in the Abattoir area in search of a suspect who allegedly stole a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses from the area told Vanguard that the face-off was triggered by the alleged killing of an unnamed resident of the area by policemen. But the police claimed that trouble started between them and the hoodlums around 7.30a.m., when an armed robber, who was being chased, for stealing a motor-bike, ran to his friends for protection. Meet the 46yr old man who has been caged for 30yrs by his parents [Photos] A Chinese couple have shocked many after it was revealed they locked up their son who displayed signs of mental illness for 30 years. (They have been branded inhumane but what would they have done differently?) Dong Hai,46, was caged in a five square metre stone shelter in his parent's back yard when they grew frightened that he could hurt someone. Dong Watou and his wife Xiao Hong from Longhai, southeast China's Fujian Province said they had appealed to hospitals for help when their only son grew distressed and they feared for his mental health. They visited hospitals in the province but were turned away. The couple spent all their savings on medical treatment in a year and had to stop their son's treatment. As time goes on the couple, who are now nearly 70 years old, say their greatest fear is what will happen to Hai when they die. Hai hasn't stepped outside the bare hut for the past 30 years and food is passed to him through a hole in the wall and each day Hai's father uses a scoop, which is tied on top of a long bamboo pole, to shovel out excrement.Food is served in a tin can and passed through the hole in the wall. Hai receives no physical contact despite living just yards from his elderly parents - http://www.ogusbaba.com/2013/08/meet-46yr-old-man-who-has-been-caged.html#sthash.U1fmQ3EH.dpuf
