SpreshMan: By answering this questions in my head, and telling Myself the truth, it looks like outright gamble … the course is business management. I’m not gonna just spend 40 million just for the degree if I can’t get Pr afterwards.
But still I really want to escape Nigeria
If you ask my opinion, paying to go do masters in Business Administration in UK may not be valuable. Business administration graduates are plenty in UK. If you already have an ICAN and you know your prospects of executive level employment in Naija are possible, then yes. If not, maybe start ICAN and increase your savings in Naija. Japa no be automatic success and it is not an end. na means to an end
SpreshMan: I recently got conditional offers from most schools in the Uk, one is starting in May and I have also deferred one to the September but my mind wants to go for the one in May.
However the kinds of arguments I read online about whether or not Japa is worth has got me confused.
I know about minimum wage being about 12-15 pounds and maximum of 20 hours per week, I know work visa after graduation has been reduced to 18 months and even the condition for ILR being extended last year.
So I’m seeking advise from people would be Honest whether it would be worth it to spend around 21 million to embark on this journey and still have a debt of close to 10 million naira since I’m paying half of the school fees. Will it be worth it ?
Are the people preaching against japa being honest ?
Are you currently valuable? Is the course you are going to do valuable? Would you have been able to get a job in the UK without the course you are going to do?
There are differing reasons why people japa (me having japa,ed back in 94 instead of going to NYSC) but your situation and goals should be your determinants. A lot of us japa'ed without goals but we knew we could survive first and thrive later. Now is much later and a lot of us are considering returning but to what? Start a business - a lot of unknowns. Get a job - definitely not. Retire and do nothing - too young for that. So we remain .
UK - I believe you can figure out a way to beat the system if you are resourceful but it will take a lot of time and effort and sacrifice.
Guy, good luck in your endeavors. I appreciate you grinding. It reminds me of the grind to get in pre-Y2K. Enjoying the benefits of that grind now and on the back end of a career.
2 things,
(1) if the RHCSA / RHCE options are still open to you, take it. It is a path not sexy but stable especially if you are ready to grind. A lot of people cant handle it
(2) There might be opportunities in the middle east that are explorable, UAE and Qatar comes to mind. Look into them
Thank you for the answers. I am currently doing research and it seems the capital outlay may be a bit higher than I envisaged. I might start smaller than I thought.
I was of the idea that you need to be at above 5000 birds to even consider it a viable enterprise. But it seems that is out of scope and may start a lot lower than that
SoftHeart: You're welcome! All your questions are valid and I will advise that you do a comprehensive research on each of the questions, one way to do this is to use google and YouTube, to get the best answers to these questions, you will need to put in some effort to watch videos and read other people's experiences.
Let me give you a quick answer to the question on buyers: For egg production, buyers will be looking for you. For broiler production, you are the one that will be looking for buyers, except you have a solid contract with a prospective buyer before you start, if not you'll need to look for buyers.
On the question of capital, poultry is extremely capital intensive. If you don't have enough money, please don't start. Even if you're starting with just 100 birds, you will need over a million naira to buy and feed the birds before they start laying. This is just the cost of buying and feeding the birds. Not building the pen and buying the land.
Zero experience in poultry farming or agriculture. Considering starting a commercial poultry somewhere in the southwest for economic purposes only. I have a bunch of questions.
How much capital would be needed? is it wise to do hybrid? Layers and broilers for commercial success? how do you guys find buyers? Is processing broilers accessible easily and what are the costs of processing?
The sales of anything. You can sell water and become rich, depends on why you are selling the water. Your stated goal is becoming a millionaire in a brief (relatively) amount of time. The skills being discussed will earn you a living, Sales can get you there. You will just have to identify the opportunities yourself (that is the hard part)
I am interested in learning more. How much in today's market will it require to set up a 500 broiler, 5000 layer poultry. All costs to be factored in including land and structures?
I have a church website developed using wordpress. Nazareth theme and I think Elementor. It has like 5 pages. I needed to make some changes and I messed up the site.
I am looking for someone that knows Wordpress and specifically that Nazareth theme to help correct the site and also show (teach) what to do when I need to make changes to the pages.

Please if interested reply with what your hourly rate is and what time on Saturdays you are available.
Dpzeewonder: First, thank you for your input. To your question,we can start from 5million naira upward because medical equipment is capital intensive but i know what moves or what people are looking for, these are what the money will be invested on not things that will tie the money down for long. Also,i have to do something i know the logics behind it,but i am not doing it the way everybody is doing their own,and the last question,i do not really get the question, can you please rephrase it or make me understand what you meant by the line "what will happen if you change your mind or find a different partner" thanks.
This is my question, the business success depends solely on your knowledge of the industry and your contacts. nothing wrong with that. As an investor, what if you become unavailable for whatever reason? Whether you decide to japa, you decide that the sharing formula is no longer acceptable or you find a new investor. What will happen to the investment?
I am not offering an investment just trying to see if you can give clarity.
How much are you looking for from an investor? The business seems to be based on your specialist knowledge and contacts, what will happen if you change your mind or find a different partner?
