TravelRe: How Were You Able To Travel Abroad? by upsupa(m): 1:19pm On May 08, 2023
RevolverOcelot:
Travelling abroad is not advisable if:

1. You don't have any legitimate business or student admissions there - If you don't have things going for you in Nigeria and you can get to a "better" place (meaning more opportunities) then move. Legitimate hustling will get you sorted out. It might be tough to start but time and effort will bring result. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

2. You don't have a plan on where to live or who to stay with till you get on your feet. See 1 above

3. The money that you have is not enough to sustain your plans. - How much money can you have? If you have enough money to sustain your plans, no need to japa for hustles sake

4. You have something doing in Naija that you're eating from or earning money from. - If this is you, hustle in Nigeria to better yourself. Abroad is not all roses and the struggle is real

@OP - I was lucky to japa in 1994. B. Sc. was done and I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC, my brother gave me his passport to japa instead of NYSC. Hustled in UK for 3 years and then moved to US. Was not all rosy but all my group of friends from 94 have made something of themselves for away (I mean like 40 of us) 1 passed away and 1 no gree progress but UK / US has been good to us

I have an 800 capacity broiler house on four and half plots of land for sale at Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The property is situated in a rapidly developing residential community.

It's a new site and not a jungle wink
Residential developments are already nearby.
There is a well on the property
Your birds are safe on the farm.

The pen is convertible to a piggery
There are some pig houses not very farm from the poultry house.

I'm selling because I'm now on the japa train.

Price is 2m (negotiable)

Call me on 08089998668
Can you post picture? How negotiable is the price?

Payment depends on the portion of work that can be completed by workers per day. Thus, it is not fixed.

If you have workers, we could meet physically so that we can discuss about payment and other necessities in details.
I was only interested for informational purpose. I do not have workers

Open your eyes mehn. There are a lot of blacks at the top who are well respected.

Let's say that you own a store and most of your customers are black. They never steal and they always pay. Then one day, one Chinese man comes in and steals some stuff from your store. The next time a Chinese man walks into your store, won't you keep an eye on him to make sure that he doesn't steal anything like the other Chinese man? That's what I'm talking about.

It's not about being second class citizens. It's about your fellow black man spoiling the reputation of blacks.
You sabi wetin you sabi. Even people who work under you will make snide comments. I am not saying that we are second class cos we are black, they treat you like they are better than you cos you are black. I am not second class, just the system/society treats you that way because of the racist american past. Thank God for black americans that fought for civil rights

@bolded My brother, don't take those things personally. Before they met you, they met another black man who gave them the bad impression which is why they're assuming that you are capable of doing that too.

It's not about being treated like a second class citizen. It's about your brothers spoiling the reputation of their fellow black man.
It is about them thinking they are better than you (second class citizen is true) but we are mostly economic refugees so na dem own shelenge be that

Depends on what stage of life you are in. Prospects are very limited in Naija for young people. $40K for Naija no be nothing. How will you make a living? If you are older and cant hustle, take the 40K and continue the life you are used to. If you are in your early to mid 20s, take the 1K and come to Yankee to hustle. At least light dey and food dey and you never acquire responsibilities for Naija and prospect dey.

It all depends on your circumstance. Me I no fit return to Naija even if you give me $400K, not at this stage of life. When I retire, you dont have to ask me before I move back to Naija

You want to rent daily Uber car? I don’t get
Guy normally drives Uber/Bolt. I will be in town for a couple of weeks and will need him to drive me around some of the days using his car. Trying to figure out a fair daily rate plus gas that I can pay. I figure something around 25K is fair. I provide the fuel and possibly need to run around for 8hours

4,500 - 6k

Don’t let the app screenshot deceive you.

If you have a good car, just make sure you plan yourself save 3-5k daily. Avoid bad routes so that your car will last worn out and repairs.

If you do anyhow that you wanna make all Lagos money, you might’ve to spend the rest of your car lifespan at the mechanics.

Cheers
Thank you. I was asking cos I might need to rent one daily with car and just was trying to figure out how much is fare

TravelRe: Travelling To USA Or School Of Nursing??pls Advice Me. by upsupa(m): 6:59pm On Feb 01, 2022
Everybody has unique circumstances.

Take the opportunity to come to the US. Your uncle may not be doing it for you but he may be doing it because you are family. Nannies can be found anywhere, if he is offering you an opportunity then take it.

How much does Nursing pay in Nigeria? The pandemic may not last for a long time and the so called opportunities for nurses trained in Nigeria may disappear. Do not listen to people who have not lived in the system telling you he cannot pay for your nursing school.

Nursing (RN) is a 2 year program at a community college and if your B. Sc. is solid you can do an accelerated BSN in 2 years as well. University training may be expensive here but Community College is not that expensive and you can always go back to university. Life involves risk and taking advantage of opportunity. If your uncle is a solid individual (your parents will know if he is solid) then take the opportunity and the risk. Even if he does not pay for the schooling you will have opportunity to better yourself in the US

Just my opinion

Any thing in the computing space is good and lucrative depending on how far you are willing to push your skills. You can start with Networking and tilt towards Cyber Security or Cloud Administration. Any skill that can offer you opportunity to work remotely is very good. Which ever path you decide to take you will be fine. Remember MASTERY IS THE KEYWORD.

Shalom.!!!
Good advice

henro4niger:
I left networking for cloud and I have never regretted my decision. Networking is hard to learn and you can't be an experienced network engineer sitting in your home. They are very underrated, underpaid and unappreciated. I called it quit after I got to the peak of my networking career with my CCNP R&S cert, companies still offered me 200k with all the sufferings and years of experience.

My advice? Go for flutter programming and leave networking
In Naija, there is not much that network engineers do. in the US, it can make for a stable career (infrastructure is needed by many SMB and above)

Wrong! Selling property is not really worth it, but if you migrate legally, you don't need to sweep the streets! You can go to school and get a decent job, you can do so many good things as a legal immigrant.
You can make it as an illegal immigrant too. Time and effort leads to success in a lot of cases

Depends on your foundation and what you learnt abroad.

My boy who was a Unilag graduate was sent back over 10 years ago. He went into real estate management when he got back to Naija. Though he had family and friends support when he land Naija. He already learnt working hard in the US. Going back to Naija was a blessing for him because he had grown up and learnt how to apply himself and take advantage of some opportunities.

This is not necessarily the same for everyone. Every situation is unique. Another guy I know found his way back as his daughter filed for his stay. Some guys I know are just surviving in Naija. Depends on your situation bro
