Barcelona will struggle this season.

The La Liga season is underway and FC Barcelona has started theirs in style.

Reeling from the loss of their super talisman, all eyes were on Barca yesterday evening to get a glimpse of the post-Messi era. Well, the Catalans didn’t waste any time in showing fans that all is not lost with a great team performance that gave the club a 4 – 2 win at home against Real Sociedad.

The game started in good fashion, with Barca starting the opening threats within seconds. Ronald Koeman used a 4:3:3 formation, so this meant that the Catalans hugged possession instantly with the likes of Busquets controlling the midfield.

FC Barcelona scored their first goal of the game thanks to Gerard Pique’s well timed header effort from a Depay freekick. The Catalans didn’t let their foot off the grass however, as Martin Braithwaite soon added Barca’s second goal of the night with a powerful header past a hapless La Real goalkeeper.

The Danish striker went ahead to make it 3-0 in favour of Barca after a rebound came his way and he swiftly buried the ball into the back of the net with a powerful low drive past a Real Sociedad defender.

Fears of bottling the lead soon started when Real Sociedad scored two (2) goals in three (3) minutes to make the game 3 – 2. It seemed like last season’s woes were about to raise it’s ugly head again, a worrying situation for Koeman.

However, La Blaugrana maintained their game, and substitute Sergi Roberto scored the final goal of the match to hand Barca their first victory of 2021/2022 La Liga season.

The score line didn’t do justice to Barca’s overall play on the pitch as the team should have gotten more goals than they did. There was a lot of chances created, and Griezmann even scored a goal that was ruled for offside – a hard call though. Jordi Alba also missed a clear one v one opportunity with the goalkeeper and couldn’t help but laugh at himself for missing such a glorious chance.

But, it was a good game from the boys, and they will only improve going forward.

In today’s liturgy, humans drag God and Satan to a Court presided by Chukwu.

The Liturgical Events –

After three disastrous wars that almost wiped them out of existence needlessly, the People of Earth unanimously agreed to file a petition against God and Satan in Chukwu’s Court located at Eluigwe on their grievances. Their busy schedules made the People of Earth file a motion for a Substituted Service Order to serve God and Satan through medium and places they frequent regularly since they rarely stayed at home. The Bailiff, Amadioha after threatening thunder and lightning was mellowed down by Ala, his wife who simply told her sweetheart the places Satan and God cannot afford not to visit afford on earth every day.

When Amadioha inquired further, Ala told him God frequents a Temple somewhere at a major town in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria where the best wine from earth are offered to him every day through their special Ngwori Palm Wine Temple with sweet melodies from Bongo to chill it with. Knowing God, Amadioha didn’t want to meet Him intoxicated. So, he promptly took excuse from Ala and quickly made a quick bargain with Ezemmiri to quickly transport him to the nearest location to Owerri. Amadioha was afraid that if he came down shining bright and hurtling like a lightning backed by the sound of his trademark thunderclap, God might just disappear. He also needed humans to bear him witness that he has served God the court processes filed by People of Earth. Fortunately for him, the Oriental Brothers album was the special request for the day. Those who are familiar with the inner workings and decibels of the Orientals collectively agree that it is great for special palm wine occasions.

Amadioha used the advantage to sneak up on God and served him the court process in front of at least hundred other humans who were also doing their own special palm wine jollification. Just as soon, the Litigator-General of Heaven or Elder 12 was summoned by God to take the Court process and go over it, sounding a serious warning that He is not to be disturbed until the best Palmie for the day is done justice to. While they were still at it, Amadioha roared off after the Litigator-General signed the mandatory proof of service.

Ala had earlier told him that Satan was likely in Sambisa Forest arguing with Terrorists and trying to let them know that they are accusing him wrongly, giving him the wrong blames and propagating teachings that he is not capable of creating. But, the terrorists simply were not having any of his whining and have been insisting that they blame him for destroying the world and don’t understand why he doesn’t want to take responsibility for something everyone knew he did. They were at it when Amadioha stormed in like a cannonball, frightening the terrorists who thought the infidels have launched a new aerial bombardment. They hailed Amadioha as he served Satan his court process, but he rebuffed them. According to Amadioha, were he not on an official duty, he would have roasted their skin with Egbe Eluigwe. He left afterSatan signed the proof of service.

The court date was set one week later after God filed His Statement of Defense through the Litigator-General of Heaven, while Satan filed his own Statement of Defense through the best lawyer in the Universe, Lilith.

To be continued.

The La Liga season is set to kick off this weekend for the 2021/2022 campaign.

Following the exit of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Pichichi battle will be finally open to new contenders as both superstars colonised the honour between themselves. Anyway, that was right before
Luis Suarez came into the equation and disrupted their monopoly.

At the moment though, the Uruguayan is still plying his trade in the Spanish League after helping Atletico Madrid lift the title last season. He doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon.

Here are the top five most likely players to win the Pichichi this season -

- Luis Suarez

The former Barca star will be gunning for the star prize this time around as Atletico's top marksman after a successful debut season.

His finishing can be wayward sometimes, but you can always rely on the Uruguayan to produce spectacular goal moments to bail his team out at anytime.

Last season, he scored 21 goals and gave three (3) assists to other teammates, suggesting a shift in game play as opposed to his time in Barca when he gave more assists per season.

- Karim Benzema

The Real Madrid forward is another one to look out for after having a great outing in 2020/2021 campaign.

Benzema will be expected to shoulder the bigger burden of scoring for the capital side again. He scored 23 goals last season, making him a good contender for the award in 2021/2022 La Liga season.

- Antoine Griezmann

Griezmann may not have scored as much goals like his compatriot above, but he did enjoy a good season.

The departure of Messi is sure to get the Frenchman more playing time in his most preferred position on the pitch.
This is definitely going to uplift his performance and opportunity conversions.

So, expect Griezmann to better his statistics in the past campaign. He is definitely in the competition for Pichichi.

- Memphis Depay

The Netherland International was snapped up by Barca in a free transfer.

Since his arrival, Depay has been on fire, mesmerizing the fans with his astounding displays during the preseason matches.

If he were to keep up with his current form all through the upcoming season, Suarez and Co will have to sit up. Also another angle to his game is that he is a big chance creator which has resulted in high assists yields for his teammates. He assists as much as he scores.

- Gerard Moreno

The Spaniard has been progressing very well over the last four years, and now he is La Roja's number 9.

The Villarreal striker has been a big revelation since his arrival at the Yellow Submarines. His prolific goalscoring abilities has turned him to one of Europe's most coveted lethal strikers.

He helped Villarreal lift their first ever Europa League trophy and reached the Semi-finals with Spain at the Euro's.

The 29yrs old forward will be hoping to build on from his 23 goals haul last season.

Who do you think will win the Pichichi in La Liga for 2021/2022?

EMRE DEMIR

There are reports that Barca is tabling a five [5] year contract offer for the player who plies his trade with Kayserispor in Turkey. His transfer fee is said to be cheap and would be a steal for the Spanish giants who are now looking towards a future without Lionel Messi.

MARTIN BRAITHWAITE

The Danish International is getting a lot of interests from English sides and has been heavily linked with West Ham and Tottenham. It is rumored that the East London side is already at an advanced stage in their negotiations for the striker.

However, there seems to be growing interest from Tottenham for the player as Harry Kane’s exit or stay is yet to be sorted out by the London side.

SAMUEL UMTITI

The French star has really had it very rough at the Nou Camp in the past couple of days. The former Lyon star found himself at the hot end of whistling vitriol’s from some supporters hurting from Messi’s exit during the Gamper Trophy match against Juventus on Sunday. Apparently, they feel he should have left so that Barca could free up funds for Lionel Messi stay. As a result, he was booed when he replaced Araujo in the match.

MIRALEM PJANIC

Reports suggest that Pjanic has taken a pay cut to facilitate a loan move to Juventus. He is expected to complete the transfer this week after reportedly taking a 20% pay cut off his wages.

Barca Transfer News: Staying, Going …Gone
Lionel Messi’s exit may have taken the headlines in the last few days across the football world, but FC Barcelona still has a season to plan for and has not been less busy in the transfer market.

Some of the players considered surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou continue to be linked in the transfer market, but so far, nothing has been concrete yet. Details are still sketchy on the destinations at the moment, and some of the deals are said to be reaching the final phases. However, reports from Spanish tabloids suggest that some first team players are definitely moving out this summer.
