how anyone would call the workers greedy or corrupt is beyond me... how can NNPC be making such big move without inviting major stakeholders like the PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY DO THE JOB (PENGASSAN and NUPENG)... who wants to hear or see his father and mother are having an official divorce on social media.. who really wants to see that ?If they were so insignificant in the eyes of mr President, noone should complain if they decide to protest...., or didnt he know that they can protest ?I must suggest to mr President, whoever is telling You.. that you can do whatever you wants without regards for the people involved shud be fired... N.B..I do fear Oga is boycotting alot of democratic moves in his decision making, its opening new gateway for corruption in this country, and the next generation would pounce on this opportunity I fear..... |

PLOT BY GOVERNOR DICKSON TO VIOLENTLY DISRUPT ELECTIONS IN SOUTHERN IJAW We, members of Patriots of ijaw Nation (PIN), write to alert the general public, the Nigeria Police, the Military, and other security agencies to a plot by the governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson, and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to cause mayhem with a view to achieving dry voting at the upcoming supplementary elections in the state. The conspiracy is so alarming that we have decided not to ignore it, particularly, because of the innocent lives that could be lost in the process. We are aware that Dickson and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Konbowei Benson, who is from Korokorosei, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, have held a meeting where they perfected a plan to move into Bayelsa State a combined team of militants from Rivers and Delta states, who will be camped at the Speaker’s country home at Korokorosei. The purpose is to use the militants to cause mayhem and violence during the January 9, 2016 elections in the state. Monies have been sent to Korokorosei to support the plan. The same team of militants that went to attack the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, during the December 5, 2015 election has been engaged to do this dastardly act in order to scare away voters. Governor Dickson had earlier called a meeting with all militants in Government House, where monies were disbursed and promises made of more largesse if the armed groups could successfully disrupt the coming elections, especially in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. That way, it would be easier for Dickson and PDP to maintain their lead in the inconclusive governorship elections. We have it on good authority that the governor has been shielding Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), who is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, inside Government House, Yenagoa, obviously, for a prominent role in the plan to ensure sufficient disruption of the coming elections. Dickson has also involved the Nigeria Police. He has asked the state police command to invite ex-militants in the state, particularly those believed to be supporting the All Progressives Congress, to a meeting in Government House today, January 4, 2015. The aim of the meeting, we have been told, is to arrest those among the former agitators that fail to switch their support to PDP and detain them until after the elections. It has since become public knowledge that Dickson and his group are buying off permanent voter cards in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in order to ensure low voter turnout and scare away people from the voting process. Already, arms and ammunitions are being moved in to facilitate the evil scheme by the governor and his party. Patriots of Ijaw Nation (PIN) condemns this nefarious plot against the people by Governor Dickson and his party. We call on the security agencies to investigate this before the elections are marred by violence. Southern Ijaw is very critical to determining the winner of any state-wide election in Bayelsa. Dickson knows this, and knowing also that the people of the local government council have overwhelmingly thrown their weight behind APC and Sylva, Dickson is desperately doing everything possible to mar the elections there. But we are determined to make sure his evil plans fail. KESIYE NEWMAN Publicity Secretary Patriots of Ijaw Nation (PIN) Yenagoa |

The man The Nation newspaper and other media houses reported was Governor Fayose’s elder brother, Segun Fayose has denied ever granting The Nation newspaper or any other media house an interview and as a matter of fact he says he is not related to the Governor and the publication has been an embarrassment to him. He also threatened to sue the media houses if a retraction was not done within the next 24hours. See the press statement after the cut. Re: Fayose Embarrassing our Family, says brother A Public Relations and Media practitioner based in Lagos, Nigeria, Mr Olusegun Sunday Fayose has dissociated himself from an online story first published in the Nation Newspapers of Monday 23rd March, 2015, in which his picture was used to illustrate a damning interview purportedly granted the newspaper by one Olusegun Fayose, identified in the report as the elder brother of His Excellency, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state. In a statement forwarded to media houses, Mr Fayose, lead consultant/MD of Hexagon Media and former head of corporate communication/PR manager of MultiChoice Nigeria, clarified that he never granted any interview to the newspaper or any other news medium within or outside the country. He also averred that he is not related to the Governor of Ekiti State, a fact which he said is not lost on any diligent media practitioner in the country and wondered how any responsible journalist could publish his picture as that of the elder brother of the Governor especially with the benefit of several online search engines at the disposal of media practitioners Mr Fayose further explained that the similarity in his surname and that of the Governor is a mere coincidence and wonders why two reporters (Bisi Oladele and Jeremiah Oke) who claimed that they conducted the interview in Ibadan, Oyo state with Governor Ayo Fayose’s elder brother, preferred to shop for the online picture of an innocent bystander to illustrate such a sensitive story at this critical period in the electoral process, instead of using the actual picture of the interviewee ‘As a media practitioner, I find this development rather shocking because the journalists were in a position to take live pictures of the interviewee at the venue of the interview. Should they have failed in doing this, they could have returned to correct the oversight or politely ask for a selfie which could be forwarded to them. There is also the option of using professional networking sites to access the details or picture(s) of their subject. So, I find it strange and curious that they (the reporters) could not remember the face of a subject they purportedly interviewed in less than 24 hours, he said.’ The statement called on leading blogs to retract the story or risk legal actions if corrective measures are not implemented within the next 24 hours Regards Segun Fayose (http://www.ladunliadinews.com/2015/03/alleged-gov-fayoses-brother-segun.html) |
LETTER OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS TO THE BISHOPS OF NIGERIA [Multimedia] Dear Brother Bishops, While we walk this Lenten journey towards the Resurrection of the Lord united with the whole Church, I wish to extend to you, dear Archbishops and Bishops of Nigeria, a fraternal greeting, which I extend to the beloved Christian communities entrusted to your pastoral care. I would also like to share some thoughts with you on the current situation in your country. Nigeria, known as the “African giant”, with its more than 160 million inhabitants, is set to play a primary role, not only in Africa but in the world at large. In recent years, it has experienced robust growth in the economic sphere and has again reasserted itself on the world stage as an attractive market, on account of its natural resources as well as its commercial potential. It is now considered officially the single largest African economy. It has also distinguished itself as a political player widely committed to the resolution of crisis situations in the continent. At the same time, your nation has had to confront considerable problems, among them new and violent forms of extremism and fundamentalism on ethnic, social and religious grounds. Many Nigerians have been killed, wounded or mutilated, kidnapped and deprived of everything: their loved ones, their land, their means of subsistence, their dignity and their rights. Many have not been able to return to their homes. Believers, both Christian and Muslim, have experienced a common tragic outcome, at the hands of people who claim to be religious, but who instead abuse religion, to make of it an ideology for their own distorted interests of exploitation and murder. I would like to assure you and all who suffer of my closeness. Every day I remember you in my prayers and I repeat here, for your encouragement and comfort, the consoling words of the Lord Jesus, which must always resound in our hearts: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you” (Jn 14:27). Peace – as you know so well – is not only the absence of conflict or the result of political compromise or fatalistic resignation. Peace is for us a gift which comes from on high; it is Jesus Christ himself, the Prince of Peace, who has made of two peoples one (cf. Eph 2:14). And only the man or woman who treasures the peace of Christ as a guiding light and way of life can become a peacemaker (cf. Mt 5:9). At the same time, peace is a daily endeavour, a courageous and authentic effort to favour reconciliation, to promote experiences of sharing, to extend bridges of dialogue, to serve the weakest and the excluded. In a word, peace consists in building up a “culture of encounter”. And so I wish here to express my heartfelt thanks to you, because in the midst of so many trials and sufferings the Church in Nigeria does not cease to witness to hospitality, mercy and forgiveness. How can we fail to remember the priests, religious men and women, missionaries and catechists who, despite untold sacrifices, never abandoned their flock, but remained at their service as good and faithful heralds of the Gospel? To them, most particularly, I would like to express my solidarity, and to say: do not grow tired of doing what is right! We give thanks to the Lord for them, as for so many men and women of every social, cultural and religious background, who with great willingness stand up in concrete ways to every form of violence, and whose efforts are directed at favouring a more secure and just future for all. They offer us moving testimonies, which, as Pope Benedict XVI recalled at the end of the Synod for Africa, show “the power of the Spirit to transform the hearts of victims and their persecutors and thus to re-establish fraternity” (Africae Munus, 20). Dear Brother Bishops, in perseverance and without becoming discouraged, go forward on the way of peace (cf. Lk 1:79). Accompany the victims! Come to the aid of the poor! Teach the youth! Become promoters of a more just and fraternal society! I gladly impart to you my Apostolic Blessing, which I ask you to extend to priests, religious, missionaries, catechists, lay faithful and above all to those suffering members of the Body of Christ. May the Resurrection of the Lord bring conversion, reconciliation and peace to all the people of Nigeria! I commend you to Mary, Queen of Africa, and I ask you also to pray for me.
