Can anyone really say why the President is yet to appoint his team.. he should be informed that there is an uncertainty brewing up in the private sector. His indecision or slow decision will lead us to another recession... Someone tell me, WHAT IS SLOWING THE PRESIDENT DOWN IN MAKING A DECISION?

But seriously person's who forge documents don't make these kinds of mistakes. They're very precise. What would usually sell them out is not the details but the security symbols which the government put on them. For instance NYSC certificate is not A4 size, but a forger may not get the size. And there are symbols that you won't know are there.
My conclusion is that the document above cannot be the handiwork of Tonye Cole, it must be from his detractors.

Its a letter of confirmation that was made on the 9th of this month when the news of him not having NYSC certificate started making wave...So i believe it wasnt submitted anywhere.. or was probably submitted to INEC.. this is Amaechi at his best.. Tonye was called out for not having NYSC... so this was released by a member of their team to clear his name.. I believe hurriedly...

The Nigerian army says more than 700 people held by Boko Haram militants in the north-east of the country have escaped captivity.

An army spokesperson, Col Timothy Antigha, said they had fled several islands in Lake Chad and arrived in the town of Monguno, in Borno state.

There has been no independent verification of the army's claim.

A BBC correspondent says the escapes are likely to have happened over a period of time, not in one go.

The military says a recent armed forces operation, Deep Punch II, has weakened Boko Haram.


In his New Year address, President Muhammadu Buhari said the group had been "beaten".

In a post on the HQ Nigerian Army Facebook page, Col Antigha said the 700 comprised "farmers, fishermen and members of their families who were hitherto held by Boko Haram terrorists as farm workers".

He said the recent operation "was targeted at destroying Boko Haram infrastructure and logistics; such as communication centres, fabrication yards, bomb making equipment, vehicles and other means of sustenance".

The army described the escaped captives as farmers, fishermen and their families and said they were held for their labour

"The ensuing collapse of their command structure and means of survival have therefore triggered the abandonment of the islands and escape of the abductees," he wrote.

Col Antigha said the escapees were being profiled to ensure there were no militants hidden among them.

He also said two women among the escaped captives had given birth safely at a military holding facility.

Over eight years, Boko Haram's campaign of Islamist violence has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced some 2.6 million.

Despite the authorities' insistence that the group has been vanquished, in recent months Boko Haram fighters have stepped up their attacks on military and civilian targets.

At least five soldiers have been killed and 30 missing in an evening attack on a military base in Kanamma town, headquarters of Yunusari local government area of Yobe state.

Boko Haram is suspected to have carried out the attack.

A top security source, who doesn't want to be named revealed to our correspondent that five dead bodies of soldiers have been recovered at attack scene.

"We lost five men in the attack, their bodies have been recovered hours after the terrorists were overpowered. But, about 30 soldiers are missing in action (MIA),” he said.

He said the insurgents nearly overran the base, but later overpowered by reinforcement that left large number of the insurgents killed with some fleeing the scene with bullet wounds.

A member of vigilante group, also told our correspondent that he saw five lifeless bodies of the soldiers taken in an ambulance by the military.

"I learnt that the corpses were taken to Damaturu or Maiduguri. Also, the insurgents took away 2 military vehicles. They were subdued by the help of fighter jet that killed many of them,” he said.

The Army spokesperson, 3 Division Nigeria Army, Colonel Kayode Ogunsanya confirmed the incident but denied any casualty in the attack.

"There was an attack on our troops two days ago by the Boko Haram Terrorists. The attack was repelled and our soldiers are in hot pursuit of the insurgents. No casualty was recorded on own side but insurgents escaped with gunshot wounds,” he said.

Boko Haram militants attacked the military base in Kanamma town on Sunday around 5:45 pm, an attack that lasted for over three hours.

The relevant Act, places the Petroleum Minister as the Chairman of NNPC Board, it doesn't accord ANY role to the Minister of state, neither did it recognise such office... the Minister in this case is THE PRESIDENT himself (just like OBJ during his time).

However, the Minister (Buhari) delegated his power to the Minister of State but it doesn't mean he can't exercise it whenever he wish.

Statutory simply means what is enshrined in the law...

NNPC GMD is the Boss in NNPC and all its subsidiaries. Petroleum Minister is the Boss in the Petroleum sector that supervises the NNPC and all other parastatals under it and ensure they all comply with government overall policies and directives.

The NNPC GMD is Bari

The NNPC Minister that supervises Baru is Muhammadu Buhari...

Kachukwu, the minister of state is more like a minister without portfolio. Yes, he carries minister title but in reality he supervises NO ministry. All he does is do as delegated by the boss- the minister.

Hence, the GMD can decide to work directly with the minister while the Minister of state whines like a crybaby. Pushing Kachukwu to minister of state was a "smart" move to have Baba and his kinsman control the sector.

Before you scream tribalism, this is like a norm in Nigeria....

When Obj was President, he was the Petroleum Minister and Gaius Obaseki, a kinsman of Stella Obasanjo was the GMD.. In his second term it was Funsho Kupolokun that was GMD while he remained petroleum minister.

Yaradua appointed Rilwanu Lukman (North) as Petroleum Minister. His NNPC GMD were Mihammed Sanusi Bakindo an Abubakar Yar'Adua

GEJ appointed Diezanni from Bayelsa like him as Petroleum Minister though he was "fair" to concede NNPC to the North

But why arent you stating that Kachikwu is Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation??
