To know that a military is in charge, first thing is to take control of the air.

When US invaded Iraq, one of the strongest military at the time, first thing they did was to show air superiority. In 48hrs US completely wiped out Iraq's Air Force and operated the skies without opposition but so far Russia failed and their fighter jets and ground troops were completely decimated and pushed out of Kyiv which indicated their first failure.

Secondly, they were pushed back at Kharkiv and they shamelessly went to Donbas region to fight which they are beginning to lose ground due to ukrainian offensive.

If Russia cannot gain swift victory from their next door neighbors in three months common sense should have told you that they are having a bad day in Ukraine.
