EFCC Vs Yahyah Bello: A Well-Deserved Embarrassment

```BY BUSY BRAIN 🧠```
For the past two weeks, the action of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been making news and forming opinions in the media. From the Bobrisky money laundering saga to the Cubana Chief Priest case, and now, the EFCC has migrated the media attention from the creative industry to the political arena with Yahyah Bello's arrest warrant and wanted notice.
The EFCC declared ex-Governor Yahaya Bello wanted for an offense relating to money laundering. The notice of the EFCC indicated that Yahyah Bello's last known address is 9, Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, and the agency asked anybody with useful information about the former governor’s whereabouts to contact any of the commission’s offices across the country.
Wherever Yahyah Bello is right now, he must be laughing at the EFCC as an agency performing Nollywood movies. Yahyah Bello has seen himself as the sacred lamb in the political corridor who cannot be used for a sacrifice and this serves as the reason he rushed to the Presidency to evade arrest. Ironically, disappointing advice issued by the Presidency asking Yahyah Bello to submit himself to the agency stirred his sudden disappearance. To Yahyah Bello, the EFCC's wanted notice will be like a Nollywood series, but it is an embarrassment to an ex-governor.
Unarguably, Yahyah Bello is a typical example of the reason youths cannot be trusted with power in Nigeria. Or how would one describe the action of an opportunist who served two terms governorship tenure and crippled the State to a state of ruthlessness? In all ramifications, Kogi State should be one of the most developed states in Nigeria with laudable infrastructures. But the visible infrastructure is the debris of the cement factory smiling at travelers on the way to Abuja.
As a matter of fact, Yahyah Bello's offense is no longer a convolution. It is the usual practice of the power mongers with a self-aggrandizement agenda. It is only confusing why he is trying to evade arrest at all costs. The ruffian show of shame of the incumbent Governor of Kogi to shield his wanted boss from arrest is another embarrassing scene of the 21st century. Worse of its kind.
Funnily enough, at Yahyah Bello’s Abuja residence on Wednesday, a group of armed men, identified as Special Forces, along with officers from the Nigeria Police Force prevented the EFCC operatives from apprehending him with the assistance of the current governor who escorted him out of the location in the governor’s vehicle.
It is pitiable and disheartening that the gesture of Governor Ododo was described as loyalty. In an actual sense, who should earn Ododo's loyalty between the ex-governor who allegedly laundered 80 billion Naira and the entire Kogi people? I think it is a ripe time for 'Kogi citizens to awake from their slumber.
With the recent moves by the EFCC, it seems the agency is fully ready to walk along the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The agency should take its aggressive war against corruption to the likes of Yahyah Bello in other States. The wanted notice served on Yahyah Bello is a well-deserved embarrassment. There is hope for a better Nigeria.
Battle Between Bobrisky And Portable: A Comic Relief
``` BY BUSY BRAIN 🧠```

The media sensation is on the apex crescendo with the recent melodrama between social media warlords, Idris Okunye (Bobrisky) and Habeeb Okikiola ( Portable). The duo of Bobrisky and Portable on social media can be regarded as celebrities who maintain relevancy amid crisis and controversy.

Bobrisky and Portable have two Unique Selling Points in common, and that is controversy. The moment of cash out and screaming headlines for both social influencers is when they are in controversy. The duo are equally shameless, with no regard for status and hierarchy of social class. They make millions out of controversy than their usual talents.

The two careless talkers are currently at loggerheads as a result of the award given to Bobrisky as the most well-dressed at the Eniola Ajao Movie Premiere. An average sane Nigerian sense of inquisitiveness will be stirred to know the rationale behind decorating a cross-dresser as the most well-dressed woman among actresses. I see this as a nuisance value and a slam of jabberwocky embarrassment to the women who were present at the event. For me, it is outright illogical and loathsome for a crossdresser to go home with such a delightful award meant for women. Eniola Ajao pulled a wrong publicity stunt.

From the point of the event, Bobrisky needs no fey or stargazer to tell him that a bomb is coming his way for bagging such award. He would definitely envisage the buzz but would not consider it coming from a Wahala musician. Had Bobrisky fully aware of his media war with Portable, he would have sheathed his sword and ignored him. Like the Yoruba adage, 'Maja Mosa Ni An Mo Akin Kanju' means that a warrior who wants to live long will not fight every battle. A pragmatic warrior absconds some battles and faces some. Bobrisky should have abandoned Portable and faced actresses who invited him to grace the event squarely.

Bobsrisky and Portable on this table are like posh pigs living in an affluent of controversy and mystic criticism. But Bobrisky has lost the battle on arrival; the only point that hits Portable is when he is being addressed as a dirty boy. For Portable, his recent diss track is already a hit on social media with many shares, likes, and comments. This is the only moment Nigerian media users are on the same page with Zazuu Crooner because of the kind of person he is wrestling with.

An average sane Nigerian detests Bobrisky, the main reason why Portable gained momentum in their current kerfuffle. I see the ballyhoo in the media space between Mummy of Lagos and Ika of Africa as a long 'vawulence' and comic relief against economic hardship. A big thanks to the creative industry, Nigerians deserve to be relieved. I'm observing from Kwara State. Lol!

MOK Foundation: One Year of Remarkable Impacts, The Journey So Far

The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode Foundation had a transformative year between March 2023 to March 2024 of commencement, making significant impacts across various areas without sentiments and biases. Here is a comprehensive review of the foundation's major projects and achievements for the year 2023/2024.

Food Distribution

The foundation initiated food distribution programme to address food insecurity in the communities within Kwara state.

Through this food initiative, we have made significant strides because we recognize that hunger and malnutrition are persistent challenges faced by many people and communities at a time like this in our nation. To address this issue, the MOK Foundation has implemented sustainable initiatives, part of which includes the distribution of nutritious foods to more than 10,000 vulnerable families and individuals at our office headquarter at Emiola in Offa at three different times last year 2023 precisely at the commencement and the close of the Ramadan fast and on the eve of the Idil-Kabir festival.

Gladly, this year was not an exemption as we distributed nutritious food items to not less than 5000 people at the eve of this year Ramadan fast as well being the middle of the Christians' Length fast . Precisely on Sunday 10th March, 2024, our was like a Mecca , as we saw mammoth crowd of beneficiaries. Both Muslims, Christians, young and old, abled and disabled, male and female and far and near all thronged our office to benefit from this food distribution. We give thanks to God.

Through strategic team work and innovative programmes, we have worked tirelessly to combat food insecurity and improve the overall well-being of individuals and families within Kwara state.

Free Healthcare Programme

Over 2,000 individuals have benefited from the foundation's free healthcare programme. This initiative provided essential medical services, consultations, and medications to underserved communities, improving access to healthcare and contributing to overall well-being. Here, more than five hospitals are permitted to treat sick people under the bills of MOK Foundation strategically located in Offa and Oyun local areas of Kwara state.

Grant Disbursement

Over 3,000 beneficiaries in Kwara state especially Offa and Oyun local government areas received grants from the MOK Foundation. These grants supported individuals and groups in various businesses, fostering entrepreneurship, promoting economic empowerment, and enhancing community development. These beneficiaries cut across all locations such as Owode market, establishments, neighborhoods, homes and hinterlands targeting small scale business owners.

Empowerment of Lower-Cadre Staff of Establishments

The MOK Foundation recently empowered 40 lower-cadre staff members of the Federal Polytechnic Offa and 30 staff members of Lens Polytechnic Offa through skill development and other capacity-building initiatives. This empowerment contributed to their professional growth, job security, and improved livelihoods.
This is an initiative under our empowerment scheme.

Educational Support programmes

We have identified beneficial knowledge to be the driver of development in any society and genuine knowledge is derived from access to quality education. On this premise, MOK Foundation has awarded scholarships to indigent students in the following areas:

WAEC Scholarship

The foundation has awarded scholarships to 138 deserving and indigent students in Offa and Oyun local government areas of Kwara State late last year. This support enabled these students to pursue and successfully complete their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations registration effortlessly, opening doors to higher education and future opportunities for them.

JAMB Scholarship

The MOK Foundation also provided scholarships to over 300 indigent students, covering their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees. This initiative ensured that these students had a fair chance to pursue tertiary education, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Scholarship Awards to 100 JSS3 Students
Recognizing the importance of early education, the foundation awarded scholarships to 100 Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) students in Offa and Oyun LGAs of Kwara state. These scholarships covered their state examinations, encouraging academic excellence and providing a strong foundation for their educational journey.

Agriculture

Agriculture, being the backbone of many societies, has not been overlooked by the MOK Foundation. We recognize the importance of sustainable farming practices, agricultural education, and rural development. Through various initiatives, we have supported farmers in Kwara South with access to modern techniques and equipment and the necessary infrastructure to enhance productivity by increasing crop yields and cultivate nutritious produce through the provisions of free tractors services, donation of cash, spraying machines and chemicals. By empowering farmers, we aim to strengthen food security, alleviate poverty, and foster economic growth in rural areas. The recent giant strides here is :
Acquisition 50 Hectares for Farming

The foundation recently acquired 50 hectares of land in Alabaale community, Igbonna, Oyun LGA, with the aim of engaging local farmers in sustainable farming practices. The foundation is providing free farm inputs, enabling farmers to cultivate the land and improve agricultural productivity, thus boosting the local economy. The motive is to distribute 65 percent of the farm produce for the deserving needy while the farmers who cultivated the crops will take 25 percent at the end of the harvest.

Light Up Project

Over 100 transformer units and some strategic areas in the community received solar-powered street lights through the MOK Foundation's initiative. This project brought illumination to previously dark areas, enhancing safety, businesses, reducing crime rates, cable vandalism and improving the overall quality of life for the residents.

Security Support

The MOK Foundation made substantial contributions to enhancing security in the community through generous donations of cash and logistics such as motorcycles, solar street light security gadgets among others to local vigilante groups in Offa and its environs. This support helped strengthen law enforcement efforts, improve surveillance systems, and promote a safer and more secure environment for residents.

Youths and Sports

We understand the significant role that sports and recreation play in nurturing talent and promoting physical and mental well-being. The MOK Foundation has been actively involved in supporting youth sports programmes, renovating the Olofa township stadium, providing financial and logistics support to aspiring and talented athletes, and creating opportunities for individuals to excel in their chosen disciplines and pursue their passion for sports. By investing in sports, we aim to foster a sense of discipline, teamwork, and resilience among young athletes in Kwara South, paving the way for future champions.This did not only boost the athlete's confidence and skills but also inspired other young individuals in the community to pursue their athletic dreams. The success of these athletes will become a symbol of hope and motivation for aspiring athletes in this region. Offa Football Club, Offa Volleyball teams , MOK Boys and others are forever grateful to MOK foundation for the various supports they have received so far .

Verily, the MOK Foundation's diverse projects and initiatives in areas like education, security, healthcare, agriculture, and empowerment have made a significant and lasting impact on our communities. By addressing various needs and providing support in critical areas, the foundation has helped transform lives, promote inclusivity, and create a brighter future for the people it serves.

It is important to say that MOK Foundation is not resting on its oars in rendering community services to people at the grassroots.

However, as we begin another philanthropic journey in March 2024, MOK Foundation is poised to continue to be stronger and bigger with more focus and commitment by delivering our mission, reaching our vision and achieving our goals as a foundation.

EXCLUSIVE: Police Inspector, Oduoye Adeyemi Unveils Book, Urges NPF, PSC To Produce En-masse For Officers

A Police Inspector, Oduoye Adeyemi has revealed in an exclusive interview on his dream to contribute his quota to Nigeria Police reform through his book titled "The Nigeria Police Force: A Beginner's Handbook"

Kindly introduce yourself, sir.

I am Oduoye Adeyemi. I hail from Eko-Ende in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State. I am an Inspector of Police attached to 61 Police mobile force Kontagora, Niger State.

When did you join the NPF?

I joined the Nigeria Police Force on the 1st day of July 2007.

What is your view of the NPF against what people think of the NPF?

Well, my view is that people do forget that the police force is an institution while the police officer is a person. And there is a difference between both. People don't consider our individual differences and upbringing of personnel. The police institution trains you to deliver on their mandate, while the upbringing of personnel creates a moral and solid foundation upon which the training will be built upon. People blame all of us because of one that goes against the rules of the game because they believe that the police institution gave birth to all of us. Not minding different homes that will come from. People don't consider that we are human beings like them which is not above common mistakes. Although, we are professionally trained but only God makes no mistake. They don't take into consideration that inside 12, there will be a Judas.

Have you ever dreamt of becoming a police officer?

Yes. I love the job from my childhood.

What is the title of your handbook?

The Nigeria Police Force: A Beginner's Handbook.

What inspired you to write the book?

Firstly, I am an average student of reading which and in turn has positively changed my ways of dealing with issues of life in general and has inspired me to write. I see reading as one of the best ways to communicate or pass messages to one another without being physically present. I've for over time searched for books to read as leverage for we upcoming police officers. But I rarely found one written by a serving or retired police officer and this inspired me to write. I was inspired by the ongoing police reform by the present IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, a seasoned police officer, and a need to contribute my own quota. Leaving a legacy for the young and incoming police officers has also inspired me.

What is the thematic focus of the book?

-The various reasons why people join the force.

-The relationship between the police and the public they serve.

-The challenging part of the job and the blessings.

-Our sacrifices as the Nigeria police force and the neglect.

-The habit of cutting corners by Nigerians and the advantages of integrity.

Why did you consider it necessary for NPF and PSC to recommend the book for police officers?

It will help in the change and shift of mindset for the serving ones. It will help in creating a fertile mind for the incoming police officers. It will create a robust relationship between the members of the police force and the public. It will serve as a practical guide to career success.

Have you ever thought of launching the book?

Of course, yes. But there are no financial resources for that for now.

How did you get the finances for the first publication?

The passion for a reformed Nigeria Police Force makes me discipline myself and join some contributions out of my salary and with the help of my wife.

What do you want from the NPF and PSC in terms of support for the book?

I will be fulfilled if the NPF and PSC can support me financially in making the book available for the police officer and recruits in all the training schools.

NIOB Kwara Chapter Celebrates Builders' Day 2024, Visits Kwara Govt, SON

The Nigerian Institute of Building Technology ( NIOB) has extended familiarization visit to the Kwara State Government and Standard Organization of Nigeria to mark the occasion of Builders Day for the year 2024.

The NIOB visited Kwara State Commissioner for Housing, Arc. Dr. Segun Ogunsola to synergise on how to improve housing an infrastructure in Kwara State.

While addressing the commissioner, the Chairman NIOB Kwara State Chapter, Bldr. Opoola Abdulmajeed noted that NIOB since inception has remained in the vanguard of the struggle to ensure the emergence of a responsible building environment which constitutes the need to place housing as an important agenda by the new administration of the ministry.

He said the NIOB has not been unmindful of the pathetic state of housing in the country which has been largely characterized by huge gaps in quantity and quality; the embarrassing menace of building collapse, dearth of skilled artisans, affordability issues, weak regular frameworks, as well as overall poor development of the housing sector.

The Institute of Building therefore recommended professionalization of the housing sector to allow for synergy among professional actors and defeat the menace of quackery, review of contractor certificate and registrations to follow global best practices.

The NIOB also charged on effective building control through the instruments of the National Building Code and related legislations at Federal, State and Local Government levels.

Speaking to the State Head of the Standard Organization of Nigeria, the NIOB raised concerns about the intermittent building collapse in Nigeria and the need to address the issue.

According to the Chairman, Kwara Chapter, "Nigeria stands at a critical juncture where the integrity of our buildings and infrastructure is under constant threat due to the influx of substandard materials flooding our markets. This not only jeopardizes the safety of our citizens but also undermines the nation's development efforts and erodes public trust in our regulatory systems.

"The recent spate of building collapses serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for decisive action. Lives lost, livelihoods shattered, and communities torn apart—all casualties of a systemic failure to enforce stringent standards and curb the circulation of inferior construction materials."

The NIOB equally charged the Standard Organization of Nigeria to enhance enforcement mechanisms, foster collaboration, promote innovation, and stream certification processes as the vanguard of quality assurance.

In their different responses, the Kwara State Government and Standard Organization of Nigeria commended NIOB, Kwara chapter led by Bldr. Opoola for remarkable recommendations on how to improve housing and infrastructure in Nigeria. They pledge to support the NIOB as the relevant stakeholders in building and infrastructural development in Nigeria.

The NIOB officials were received by the clerk of the House, Kwara State House of Assembly on behalf of the speaker. The Building Institute was given assurances that concerns raised would be duly channeled to the relevant authorities and were encouraged to submit comprehensive submissions for further review and consideration.

Lens Poly Offa Stages 'No- To-Kidnapping, No-To-Hunger' Campaign, Urges Govt., Stakeholders To Address Issues

The Mass Communication Students of Lens Polytechnic Offa Kwara State have embarked on a No-to-Kidnapping, No-to-Hunger campaign to place a clarion call on the government and other critical stakeholders in the country.

The campaign held on Saturday 9th, March 2024 was widely embraced and acknowledged as one with the right message addressing the current situation in the country.

The Proprietor, Dr. Azeez Yisa in his address said the campaign's aim is not to condemn the government policy or program but a clarion call on government at all levels on the urgent need to cushion the effect of the current economic crisis.

According to him, 'The Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is trying, and this campaign is not to condemn the government. For record purposes, this is not the first time the institution will embark on a campaign to address issues of national interest. The campaign is part of the curriculum, and it is a clarion call on the need to intensify efforts to tame the current economic situation."

Also speaking, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. Hammed Sarafa Olalekan said the Polytechnic is one of the leading institutions in Nigeria known for the series of campaigns to foster unity and national integration.

He said the Polytechnic deems it fit to critically look into the current issue of public interest and call on government at all levels for a lasting solution.

Speaking to the press, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mrs. Kehinde Adeniran said the campaign is considered to address pressing issues affecting the masses. She noted that people at the helm of affairs need to act fast to curtail the series of challenges facing the country. Mrs. Kehinde said it is part of the aims and objectives of the campaign to draw the attention of the stakeholders to the opinions of the people at the grassroots, which are predominantly on hardship and insecurity.

While the campaign coordinator, Mr. Adebayo Lukman Alani commended the management for providing maximum support to achieve a successful campaign planning and execution. He clarified explicitly that the campaign is not a protest or demonstration, but a purely academic exercise embedded in the National Board for Technical Education's Curriculum.

According to him, "On behalf of the HOD of Mass Communication, I appreciate the management for providing the necessary logistics for the success of this campaign. For emphasis, this is neither a protest nor a demonstration but a legitimate academic exercise. It is part of the curriculum, and this is not the first time. The campaign is addressed to all stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, opinion leaders, market men and women, corporate organizations, and most importantly, the government to work together for holistic solutions to the prevalent challenges facing the country. Nigerians deserve better, and better Nigeria is achievable.”

FEDPOFFA: A Sightseeing of Development Under Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE ( 1 )

A Travelogue By Oluwasegun Ojo ( Abuja)

After visiting the Federal Polytechnic Offa, my alma mata for the first time since my graduation, I changed my negative orientation about the popular mantra of 'Nigeria go better'. My initial thought when people say 'Nigeria go better' is always in negative because I have assumed the country is damaged beyond repair in the hand of corrupt leaders. People at the helm of affairs have crippled the progress of the country through self aggrandizement agenda.

But my recent journey to the Federal Polytechnic Offa with the level of development and transformation I witnessed under the leadership of Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru instilled hope in me that Nigeria still possess good leaders who are passionate about growth and development.

Without mincing words, the present Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa is the real architect of change and transformation, goal oriented and visionary to move Federal Polytechnic Offa from its current position to the next level.

It does not take a century to effect change, change begins with a step. In just about one year, the Polytechnic has witnessed the growth of five years with speedy transformation.

My first point of contact was the mini campus front page. Initially, I thought I was in another school with aesthetic value of green and white paints on the trees outside the mini campus, with the perimeter fence wearing a new look. I spoke to myself that the gateway of my alma mata now looks like a campus. The Rector has given a purpose to those trees, which is aesthetic value of the polytechnic outskirts. When one approaches the Polytechnic area from Osun State or from Ilorin, one will not look at another side but the Polytechnic because of its aesthetic appearance. Kudos to the Rector for making the environment to look like a campus.

My inquisitiveness propelled me to ask about the building near the mini campus gate, and I was informed it is meant for a bakery(FEDPOFFA Bread). It was that moment I commenced to rain prayers on the Rector for setting the record of establishing a bakery after 32 years of existence of the Polytechnic. Other Polytechnics have grown beyond that, but who did the Federal Polytechnic Offa offend? Absolutely none, it is a choice of leadership.

While making my adventure, I noticed the long time abandoned internal roads at the Polytechnic mini campus have been rehabilitated. The mini campus where I had my ND was like a market square and motor garage, the environment is now serene and pleasing to eyes. All the linkage roads have been upgraded and perched right from the main road. It is a remarkable project.

As I proceeded, I saw a newly renovated ICT building, a building almost rotten for many years has been given a facelift, I equally noticed a pop-up of Wi-Fi connection tagged 'Fedpoffa Cloud'. It was like a miracle to me that the Wi-Fi I never experienced throughout my four years now in place. Like I said, development is possible, it is just a matter of mindset. The impossibility is possible, Fedpoffa now enjoys Wi-Fi with enhanced internet connectivity. God is really wonderful.

At a point, I was thirsty and needed to get water, I bought water and noticed the nylon was labelled FEDPOFFA Water. Initially, I smiled and asked a question jokingly if they were importing the water somewhere and the woman happily answered, " No, aa ko omi wa lati ta oo, ise Rector yi ni oo" meaning we didn't import water from outside, it is the work of this Rector. I almost shed tears of joy that God has answered the Federal Polytechnic Offa with a visionary leader.

It was a shame in the time past that the Polytechnic established in 1992 cannot produce common pure water. Kudos to the one who made it a reality.

Going ups and downs to look at the venues where I had lectures when I was in school, I stumbled on a market, I asked what was going on, and I was informed all forms of street market had been relocated to a designated location. The Polytechnic community before was littered with small shops and markets defacing the institution. The visionary Rector has set up an organized market. An indication that the institution is now working with a master plan.

Just few days ago, I read it online that the Polytechnic has been granted hosting rights to host Nigeria Polytechnics Game for the year 2024 for the first time in history. Another avenue for infrastructural development of the Polytechnic stadium and other sporting facilities. I have never seen the present Rector before, but I will tag him "Akorede, Kolawolu," these names, to my non Yoruba audience, means the architect of good fortunes.

The Mini campus that has been abandoned for many years is back to life. Kudos to the visionary Rector.

With full authority, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru has set many records in the history of the Polytechnic in almost one year of assumption of office. A rare achiever and goal getter. May God continue to crown his efforts successfully.

Tribute To Sisi Quadri: The Last Of His Kind In Nollywood

BY BUSY BRAIN

On Friday, March 1st 2024, the death barged into the Nigeria Movie Industry and took one of the most creative actors. Death ceased to pity the age of Sisi Quadri, he confronted him and took him to the world beyond. His news is currently the most discussed in the media, shocking and painful to the marrow.

The title of the last movie he participated in ( Anikulapo Series), is peculiar to all mankind. Everyone has death in his or her pocket. When the time counts, death comes out from one's pocket and strikes. No one will remain in the world forever, everyone is a walking dead.

Death is always sudden, irrespective of the channel it uses to penetrate its victims, the death of Sisi Quadri is more sudden than the usual. He dies when the world is about to see the genius on Netflix through the Anikulapo series. Sisi Quadri is a talent that cannot be compared to anyone in Nollywood, dead or alive. His art was unique beyond apprenticeship. He was born with the talent of weaving words to abuse and amuse.

His Unique Selling Point was engraved in his invective character, a character he debuted in 'Eran Iya Osogbo movie' and brought him to stardom. His unique style of acting and gesticulation endeared myriad with his explosive salvo and vituperation. He mastered the art distinctively and was so perfect in his output.

He carved the niche for himself as an encyclopedia of demeaning and embarrassing adjectives. Highly respected among peers and contemporaries, an actor who had scripts in his head with endearing gestures.

Unarguably, Sisi Quadri was one of the comic actors who will murder boredom and depression in a single scene. He always puts his best in movies, and makes the audience to wonder where his heaps of abusive words were coming from. He played special roles in movies that can never be xeroxed.

Nollywood has lost another key comic actor, to be remembered till eternal calls. Condolence to all theatre practitioners, condolence to his family, friends, fans, and associates. Adieu to the king of explosive salvo. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

In a remarkable effort to replace conventional record management with a technological interface, a senior staff of the Management Information System(MIS), Mr. Samuel Ayodeji Oluwasogo has developed an application dubbed “Distributed Information Management System Software” to ease course registration and facilitate automated processing of students' records in the Polytechnic.

The application, which is an improvement over a paper-based grading system, was launched on the floor of the academic board meeting on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Polytechnic Main Campus.

While explaining the functionality of the app's interface, the developer, Mr. Samuel Ayodeji said the application gives room for lecturers to process and upload results from their comfort zones, calculate CGPAs, and compute students' grades for the courses they coordinate seamlessly.

Speaking further, he said the app equally allows students to register their lessons online, view their entire records, send complaints, and monitor hostel accommodation among others.

Reacting to the newly developed application, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE described the app as the first of its kind in the history of the Polytechnic. He commended the industrious and innovative strides of the developer to make the work of the Management Information System of the Polytechnic to be more seamless.

The Rector noted that the success of the application software has not only reaffirmed the management's commitment to enhancing technological innovation but also underscores the immense potential inherent within the Polytechnic workforce by nurturing researchers and tech-savvy staff members with the tools to create and translate their ideas into innovative solutions.

While describing the app launching session as a platform for robust discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving at the Academic Board level, the Rector commended the entire staff of MIS unit for the laudable achievement.

According to him," I profoundly commend the developer of this great application, and the entire staff of Management Information System Unit under the leadership of Mr. Okunsanya B.A for their dedication and commitment to the growth and development of the Polytechnic.”

“To spread out the significance of this great app, the Unit should engage all the HoDs, Deans, and Directors to identify mutual areas of interest and ensure the success of the application,” he added.

Elofokanbale: A Sarcasm of Sympathy, Mockery, And Reproach

```BY BUSY BRAIN```
Like a plague of locusts, the wind of pangs spread around the nooks and crannies of the country. At the moment, both the needy and the wealthy are stuck in the murky water of agony orchestrated by rigid policy. The voice of the poor is louder but cannot affect any change, it is mere echoes of the usual lamentation falling on deaf ears. No egress at the spellbound. It is really a time of sympathy as larger percentage of citizens are already suffocating.
Elofokanbale, a metaphorical utterance of President Tinubu during electioneering to instill renewed hope is now the popular lyric on the street. The video footage of President Tinubu during one of his campaigns premised on reducing fuel price, staple foods, and commodities. Antithetically, the 'Elofokanbale' message is now a lyric of sympathy, mockery, and reproach to many who supported the renewed hope agenda. The fuel, staple foods and commodities Mr. President promised to reduce are expensive in multifold.
Recently, a staunch loyalist to Mr. President and Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde sent a message to the President and of course, a point-blank truth any reasonable follower should tell his boss. Wasiu Ayinde earned more respect from Nigerians who are not Fuji lovers by calling a spade a spade on the current situation of the country. It takes myopic and dogmatic followers to see the current aggressive inflation as a normal consequence of people's choice to elect President Tinubu. When peoples' lamentation for bad governance is taken for hatred and chauvinism, there is fire on the mountain.
What seems like convolution to me is the nature of offense we have committed as Nigerians to deserve a conundrum and doldrums-like penance. Nigerians have had enough under a two-term administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. During Buhari's regime, how many of Adepele's multiple and interlock teeth could be counted? What the eyes saw could not be accounted with bare mouth. It was a series of 'shege'(torment) and now, the whole situation is like a 'shege pro max'. Down to the lowest class, the country is no longer at ease.
When an economy grows, citizens do well and get richer, even if it is marginally, as they have jobs, good salaries, and an improved quality of life. Companies and investors also make profits. The situation here is contrary, it is 'monkey dey work, baboons dey chop,' under the stench of cool breeze, cascading down our rivers of hope. To actualize the first stage of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, that is, food, clothes, and shelter, it is really a survival of the fittest. Salary earners, market women, medieval, and geriatrics, hue and cry to bemoan the current policy and economic subjugation.
Over the years, it has been a tale of lamentation, from kidnapping to banditry. It seems the security architecture is exacerbated by the gruesome killing of traditional rulers and intermittent kidnapping in the country. We are already on board of the renewed hope, where is the egress?
One of my recent engagements with my highly revered boss, scholar and financial expert, Dr. Azeez Yisa hammered on the influx of importation without export. The production level is at the lower ebb and is telling hard on the economy. We import almost everything without exporting and our poor production level has pushed Nigeria into a monopolistic economy, but the bottom line of the problem is that, the factors of production are threatened. Of course, there is land, but the capital to mobilize labor is a mirage and no entrepreneur will take the risk to secure the loan and cultivate land for ranchers. The government needs to create a conducive atmosphere for seamless production. The spate of insecurity and herdsmen menace have threatened farming. The aggressive inflation rate has shut down many businesses. Only the upper class whose pyramid of needs has risen to self-actualization can manipulate the factors and survive the corollary. Low-income earners seeking physiological needs dare not to venture into production in the face of conspicuous threats. The end of discussion imputes government to making the production seamless for a robust economy.
Nigerians are already swimming in the pool of renewed hope; hoping to sail through in peace and not in pieces. May President Tinubu succeed. God bless Nigeria.
MK Sanni: A tribute to a generous Prince of Ijagbo
By AbdurRaheem Sa’ad Dembo
It is significant and imperative to remember those who have lived a life worthy of emulation. Great men exist in every city and town. In Ijagbo town in Kwara State, MK Sanni was a household name because of his contributions to the development of the town. I don’t think many wouldn’t doubt anyone’s ancestral connectivity if he or she is from Ijagbo and does not know Alhaji Mohammad Kajogbola Ajao Sanni, Popularly Known as MK Sanni, when he was alive.
He was a business mogul in Ilorin. History has it that he started his business in Ghana before relocating to Nigeria. While in Ghana, he joined Patterson Zochonic between 1951 and 1954. M.K Sanni resigned from PZ Company in 1954 and registered as a diamond dealer in the Gold Coast (Ghana).
As a diamond dealer, that gave him the opportunity to tour all the nooks and crannies of the Gold Coast and the West African sub-region. In 1961 Alhaji MK Sanni returned home from Ghana and later decided to settle in Ilorin, where he registered as a contractor and a businessman with the name Alhaji M.K Sanni and Sons Company.
As a dynamic, vibrant, and versatile young man, he was chosen as a councillor representing Ijagbo Ward when Oyun Local Government was created in 1969. In 1972, he was appointed a director in the then Kwara State Investment Corp.
As a business merchant in foam products in Ilorin, Alhaji MK Sanni traveled to the United Kingdom and was in London between August and September 1981, for more business opportunities and expansion. He became the first businessman to introduce imported and Arabian rugs to Ilorin in 1981.
Significantly, he was a prominent philanthropist in his good old days as he helped many, including indigenes and non-indigenes of Ijagbo town, in the attainment of their dreams. The late Icon made a remarkable contribution to the development of Ijagbo.
It was during his tenure as a councillor that pipe-borne water reached Ijagbo township. He contributed to the construction of Ijagbo Post office, police station, and the establishment of Ansarudeen College, Ijagbo.
From the information available, which I extracted from his short biography, he also paid taxes for some aged people in 1979, 1980, and in 1981 in Ijagbo township. He was a peacemaker and a frontliner in the town.
It can also be deduced from his autobiography that late Alhaji Mohammad Kajogbola Ajao Sanni played a gallantry and eminent role in the resolution of the long chieftaincy title of Onijagbo of Ijagbo that occurred between 1969-2011, through the efforts of his close friend, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN).
“All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” Despite his busy business life, he was also a great socialite in his heyday, a staunch member of the then Ilorin club who later became a life patron of the club.
To me and many, he was not an ordinary person you can come across without emulating him because he believed so much in touching the lives of his family members by making them self-sufficient. He did not belong to the school of thought of giving people fish and declining to teach them how to fish. His robust philosophy was to empower the people so that they could also become employers of labor.
Some people believe they should shine alone without picking anyone along; that was not the trait of Alhaji MK Sanni. He would ensure that his brothers excelled along with him.
There is no doubt about the fact that the Sanni family and our family have a close association because of the relationship between late Sheikh Suleman Jieli Imam Dembo and Alhaji MK Sanni. That actually availed me the opportunity as a young child to see the late Icon whenever he would come around. Besides, one of the Sannis, late Surajudeen Salahudeen Sanni, was my good friend; may Allah grant him aljannah firdaus.
This piece about the late prominent Ijagbo son can’t be complete without reaching out to others. Here is what Laaro Feyishara Sanni said about the late Icon: “He was the kindest of the lot, a great uncle who made sure everyone in his family was not left out, he made my dad (Late Alhaji L.O Sanni Rightway) who he was. He was a selfless wall breaker that you didn’t have to know to benefit from, just walk up to him and ask for his help irrespective of who you are, he would go to any length to help you. He was truly a loving Uncle whom I loved dearly. He was the face of a true patriarchy.”
Similarly, Alhaji AbdurRaheem Kola Dembo also described Alhaji MK Sanni this way: “Alhaji loved Muslim clerics so much that he never wanted to see them in poverty. He encouraged our father that his children should combine Islamic education with Western education. Anything about Islam, he would ensure he contributed his own quota. He trained his children in the way of Allah. He was a great family man.”
Barrister Sikiru Sanni opines: “He was a loving and great father, grand, great-grandfather, and philanthropist per excellence. A great community leader who worked tirelessly to bring development to Ijagbo. He was a father that any child will love to have. He was a great man. Adieu a Loving father.”
Alhaja Hafsat Sanni, who is also one of the daughters of Alhaji MK Sanni, captured her father as “ tooto,” meaning a good parent. She explained that her father was caring to all his children, right from the time they were single and even after they were married. She said, “My father was generous to both family members and outsiders. He was always willing to assist others. I cannot say everything about him; even as I say this, tears are rolling down my cheeks.”
Alhaja Kudirat Sanni Na’Allah asserts: “Baami, as we normally called him was a great & religious man. A loving & caring father. He did everything to make us great & successful, even after marriage. We will never forget him & all his legacies. May his soul rest in peace & May Allah SWT continue to be with the family & further cement our relationship.” Dad, you have always been my pillar of strength, my protector, and the best father. I am forever grateful to have you.”
Furthermore, Mallam Ibrahim Sanni has this to say about his father, “My dad (Alhaji M.K Sanni) was awesome. He cared a lot and loved us no matter what. He’s an amazing listener – not just listening but understanding how we felt. No matter what mess we were in, he never judged. Instead, he helped us find solutions.
His love was like a rock that never budged, even if we made mistakes. Whenever we were in any not-so-good situations, he did not criticize but supported and guided us. He was not just a problem solver; he was like a wise friend, helping us figure things out. He sorted us. In the story of my life, my dad was a hero, painted with colors of care, love, and always being there for us.
Barrister Abolanle Sanni Babs-Farouk wrote, “My dad was a doting father, a man of virtue and considerable intellect, a lover of people who was adored by all for his standards of humanity. He loved and cared for all his children and others alike. His love and struggle for his community were heroic. I miss you every single day, dad!”
Lateefat Sanni Giwa also said, “Even though my dad is no longer with us, his impact lingers in the precious memories we shared. He was caring, loving, and an extraordinary listener. No matter what, he never judged and always offered solutions with a wise and gentle touch. Though he is no longer physically present, his love remains alive in our hearts. In the chapters of my life, his memory is a beacon of unconditional love, guiding me through challenges. Though he may be late, the essence of his caring nature continues to shape my journey, a legacy of love that time can never erase.”
Essentially, according to Mahatma Gandhi, “man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow men.” Alhaji MK Sanni lived a life worthy of emulation and in the service to humanity. One should endeavor to touch the lives of others positively.
Doing good by helping others is highly rewarding, so those who understand would leverage that. In Suratu Fussilat verse 46, Allah says, “whoever does righteousness – it is for his (own) soul; and whoever does evil (does so) against it. And your Lord is not ever unjust to (His) servants.” After one’s demise, the person’s good or bad deeds will keep resonating as people will discuss you. Alhaji MK had prepared his life for people to say good things about him to receive the mercy of Allah. May Allah forgive him for his shortcomings.
Being kind, generous, or helpful to others does not shorten one’s lifespan as many would believe. The business mogul and great Prince of Ijagbo lived long in the service to humanity. Do not listen to anyone who would be discouraging you from assisting others.
Today, no one can write the history of Ijagbo town without mentioning the name of this frontline Prince and philanthropist, Alhaji MK Sanni. May Allah grant him continuous mercy in his grave and grant him aljannah firdaus.
Notable among his close friends were the late Alhaji Sheikh Jieli Suleiman, the Magaji of Ile Dembo, Ilorin, the Late Alhaji Adamu Atta, former Governor of Kwara State, and the late Chief Oni, owner and founder of the Circular Hotels in Ilorin, among others. He died on the 8th of January 2021, having lived for 99 years. “Sun re o, Emukay, o gbe’se meji ba’ra waju!”
Ijagbo town is blessed with many great sons and daughters, among them is the current Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.
