The fresh and most recent trend in Nigeria's media space is not far-fetched. 'Emilokan' is a mantra that has overtaken many gory news in the country. The new trend of 'emilokan' is on all social media spaces and has been a point of meme for all media influencers, comedians, and celebrities.

My undergraduate days at the Federal Polytechnic Offa would forever etched in my memory. I graduated from a department that housed brilliant lecturers and league of professionals in the field of mass communication. One of the remarkable moments was Dr. David Oloyede's ABC of Advertising class. Dr. Oloyede is not only an astute scholar in the field of communication but teaches with the best academic standard. A topic we were taught in his advertising course was propaganda techniques which 'slogan' formed one of the key points. Without many digressions, I will talk about slogan as a strong propaganda technique used in politics.

Down to the memory lane, the slogan has helped political candidates and parties to win elections. Peoples' Democratic Party's slogan is 'power to the people.' PDP used the striking slogan of 'power to the people' to rule Nigeria for 16 years after taking power from military government. PDP candidates were the majority in the two chambers and had governors ruling states more than any other party. In the 2015 election, the amalgamation of ACN and CPC to form APC came out with another powerful slogan which is 'Change'. With the number of years PDP used to rule the country, people embraced the slogan for progressive change and voted for President Muhammadu Buhari with full force. Nigerians were singing and chanting change dole. The outcome of the change mantra is a story for another day.

In Kwara State 2019 governorship election, the victory of Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq could be attributed to the power of slogan. APC in Kwara State came out with the 'O too ge' meaning ' enough is enough' slogan to dislodge former Senate President Bukols Saraki and his candidates. The 'O' too ge' slogan was a prayer point for many unpopular candidates who contested and won the election in Kwara State in 2019 at both Federal, State, and Local levels under APC.

Back to Emilokan, Tinubu's venom and anger while addressing people in Ogun State have been developed to form a slogan. Tinubu poured out his mind regardless of whose ox is gored. He expressed his 'jagabanship appellation' and called a spade a spade. His outburst is now a lyric in the town. Q. Dot Alagbe's Emilokan freestyle has already taken the lead role making waves, Ibrahim Chatta and Abeni Agbon's Emilokan duet is another banger, celebrities, clerics, and media users have in one way or the other use 'emilokan' as a comedy skit or point of reference. What could have cost Tinubu millions of naira to contract celebrities for the campaign has been a freestyle memes and trends on social media. What is required of Jagaban is to get an Hausa Artist and blend the lyrics of 'Emilokan' with northerners. It is already a slogan that would be very difficult to overshadow by his contenders.

Other presidential aspirants' PR teams have been given assignments as 'Emilokan' has leveled the ground for Tinubu, from Hostility to Empathy, from Apathy to Sympathy. It is called the Public Relations transfer process. People who are not in support of his presidential trip because of his health status have made a U-turn because he has been seen as a victim among betrayals and conspirators.


With this slogan, I see Tinubu winning the presidential race with a wide margin. Emilokan is now a chorus that emanated from anger to slogan. Egbe kini yi wa... Emi lokan.

On Friday, 22nd of April, 2022, the whole of Southwest was thrown into a somber and forlorn mood over the demise of a great king of Oyo kingdom, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi lll, the 46th Alaafin Oyo, Iku baba yeye. His death was made known to the public through social media early Saturday, at the initial stage, his death was assumed to be a rumor as a result of the controversial nature of social media and the persistent carriers of fake news. In the twinkle of an eye, the rumored death turned into reality, it was confirmed that Alaafin had gone to roost at Baara, an abode of his ancestors. It was shocking and unbelievable. An iroko tree fell till the day of resurrection.

Alaafin’s death at 83 still looks shocking like one at a tender age. After storming on a clip where he was doing boxing exercise, his agile looks and stamina were a replica of baba at 40. He punched the bag with vim and vigor, with a mixture of road walk exercise. His fitness corroborated his eulogy as omo iku tii iku o le pa ( son of death that can not be killed by death ) omo aarun ti run o le se (son of ailment that can never be captured by diseases). Amidst other eulogies, these two remain an emblem of strength, virility and agility.

History will never forget a king who turns his subject into a gold mine, Alaafin engraved his name on the pages of history where those who made change possible can never be forgotten. He accommodated all and sundry, the medievals and geriatrics, men and women and will never rush to make jabberwocky headlines in the media. His relentless efforts for peaceful coexistence among Yorubas, South west, and Nigeria were conspicuous, very visible to the blind, and audible to the deaf. He came, he saw, he
conquered as long-serving Alaafin…the iku baba yeye of Oyo kingdom.

Oba Adeyemi’s vacuum in Yoruba land will not only be missed but be tedious to be refilled. As a top-notch and respected monarch, he knew the value of peace, and harmony and handled controversial issues with the touch of diplomacy and pragmatism. He strived to unite the Yoruba race and settled discord capable of tearing Yorubas apart.

Throughout his reign, Oba Adeyemi never fan the ember of discord and disunity. He watched his public utterances on matters of national interest not as a coward but as a custodian of peace. He knew where to talk tough and where to administer calmness. He condescended by leaving his resplendent throne to attend events of other monarchs in their towns. The first time and last time I saw him was during Asiwaju of Offa installation at Olofa’s palace. He led by example. He loved his people, his subject, and the Yoruba race under his watch.

Southwest and particularly, Oyo State in less than six months had witnessed the unpalatable death of royal fathers of notable ancient towns. It is as if the monarchs in Yoruba land had a meeting to bid their subjects farewell intermittently. Very swift and the rhythm of death is unfriendly. It gong sounds painful and not sonorous to the ears. It is a pity.

In December 2021, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade lll joined his ancestors at age of 95 years after reigning for 48 years and 22 days after which was January 2022, Oba Olubadan followed suit, and now, Alaafin joined. The rampage of death of top-notch monarchs in the southwest, Oyo State will create a great vacuum, their gourd of deep-rooted knowledge, wisdom, understanding of rich history, culture, the landmass of Yoruba kingdoms will be dearly missed.

Olubadan, Soun, and Alaafin have tried their best and left the rest for others; nevertheless, they should inform Awolowo, Akintola, and others that their children are still at loggerheads for the Presidential ticket… Their offsprings who once acted as father and son have been denying themselves on the verge of actualizing their interests. Tell Baba Awoo that Yorubas are still in caucus; not in unity.

May your souls continue to rest in peace…The iroko trees of Yoruba kingdoms. Adieu!

Tinubu, Oyetola, Aregbesola and the seat of godfatherism (I)

In Nigeria, politics is one of the most chancy professions. To attain political power, it is a survival of the fittest, politics is evil and money is the root. The routes to political offices are laden with sharp thorns, like the general maxim, one who wants to eat the yoke in the rock would not mind the edge of the axe.

The mantra of no permanent friend; no permanent enemy in politics is no more a convolution. Best friends today become worse enemies tomorrow. Best cliques and caucuses are now subjects of tantrums and ridicule. In politics, eniti ko niya Kii bawon de Igbo, meaning that ‘he who doesn’t have a mother would not follow others to the forest.’ The political forest in Nigeria is thick with conglomerations of malignant apparatus.

The superiority war between Tinubu, Oyeyola, and Aregbesola is not the first of its kind in Nigeria. We have had the case of Akpabio and Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom, we have had the case of Adams Oshiomole and Obaseki in Edo State, we have had of Tinubu and Ambode in Lagos state among many others. These crop of leaders were allies. They wined and dined and took part in the decision-making of their respective states. Unfortunately, their relationship turns sour

One thing that usually stirs the fights between political warriors in Nigeria is superiority war. To political gladiators, the place of the godfather is sacred and should not be tampered with. Once that sacred position is tampered, the war is imminent. For sure, Aregbesola does not want his legacies to be tampered with in Osun State. He wants his one-time chief of staff to continue with all his legacies forgetting that, some policies cannot stand the thirst of time. Now that Oyetola is the number one citizen in the state of Osun, Oyetola as Chief of Staff will be different from Oyetola as Governor. Oyetola has his plans, goals, and agenda to achieve and to achieve them, he has to act like a governor and not as one time Chief of Staff. He did nothing wrong.

In my opinion titled: ‘What Wrong Did Oyetola Do” as published in Nigerian Tribune, I opined that Aregbe should embrace Oyetola’s policies as his idea. The reality remains that Tomorrow’s loyalty is not guaranteed.

The open tantrums and derogatory remarks against Tinubu’s personality by Aregbe was because of Tinubu’s support for Oyetola. Aregbe expects Tinubu to call his cousin to order when he changed some of his legacies. Tinubu’s refusal to caution Oyetola from reviewing some policies spurred the public denigration. Of course, Ogbeni can not deny Tinubu’s impact on his political career but his loyalty to Tinubu stumbled on the way. Aregbe decided to put his strength to test, he sponsored a candidate against Oyetola in primary election and the results were eyesore. Aregbe fought a lost battle as his revered sacred temple is being tampered. Better still, the time is still fresh to retrace his steps. The room for disagreement is allowed. What transpired is one of those things in politics. It is the irony of life.

Like many other days, a day like this is once a year. It is a day of reminiscing on the past, the good moments, and worthwhile explorations for a future adventure.

Every 2nd of February speaks about a virtuous woman, mother of sages, the jewel of an architect, epitome of beauty, and wealthy diadem, Alhaja Idiat Morayo Atoke Olatinwo.



Birthday that is worthy of celebration is not all about merriment, jamboree, and profligacy spending. The kind of birthday celebrated today was an ‘exotic surprise;’ not from anyone but her beloved husband, ‘May Architect’. It was a blissful moment with her generous man of honor, Arc. Fatai Olatinwo, of course, the celebrant and her husband know the value of prayer and hold it in high esteem. The celebrant and her king know that givers never lack and they give to the needy, the celebrant and her priceless jewel know, there is no deity of worship except Allah and they made supplications to the creature of the universe, for the rare gift of life, health, successes, and breakthroughs. Alhamdulillah.



Like some birthday events where pervasive perfume would be stench of beer, trophies and many lots; these categories would not mind because it is their style of celebration. But today, the lesson in the celebration is simple and clear: Quranic verses and trumpet of Grace, all rented the air with the voices of well-wishers Glorying His Holy name…”Glory be to God for the gift of life; for another year.”

Truth be told, a fulfilled life worthy of emulation is not about wealth without virtue or respect, with sincerity of purpose, the cheerful and virtuous nature of Alhaja Idiat is worthy of emulation. With her befitting smile that allays fear, she approaches people with deserving respect.

The least of worry is when you see her in her astonishing attire, it is her golden smile with a scintillating gap-teeth that housed her joy giver, the architect of peace. What a role model with dignified simplicity. ’51st like 16th,’ to God alone, be the Glory.

51st hearty cheers to a refined queen in the temple of a renowned architect. Wishing you long life, sound health, and more prosperous years ahead. Happy Birthday, Ma…Mummy Wariz.

The Governing Council of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, has approved the appointment of Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi as the acting Rector of the Polytechnic.

This was contained in a letter of approval dated 7th of January 2022 which will take effect from Wednesday 12th of January 2022 preceding the appointment of the fifth substantive rector of the Polytechnic.

The appointment of the acting Rector was sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji on the 11th of January, 2022.

According to the profile released by the Polytechnic's official, the new acting Rector is the Deputy Rector Administration of the institution. He was born on 5th January, 1961 in Shao, Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Dr. Afolabi after his elementary education, enrolled at the Government Secondary School, Malete, Kwara State between 1974 to 1979 for his secondary school education. He was at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria for his Bachelor of Arts. (Hons) in English Literature between year 1980 to 1984 and proceeded to the University of Ilorin from 1988 to 1990 for his Masters of Art (English Literature) in 1990.
He left the shores of Nigeria to the University of Utara, Malysia for a Doctoral Degree in year 2015 and bagged a PhD in Linguistics from the Universti Utara, Malysia.

He is a pioneer staff of the Polytechnic; he joined the service of the Polytechnic as Lecturer II in September 1992. He rose through the ranks and became the Head of Department, Department of English and Communication from 1998 to 2005. He has been a member of the Management Advisory Committee since 2004 to 2015. Director, School of General Studies from 2006 to 2010, and later Dean, Special Duties from 2011 to 2015. He has served the Polytechnic as Chairman of various committees: Chairman, Proposed Mass Communication Department in 1998, Chairman, Committee on certificate screening from year 2000 to 2003, Chairman, Publication Committee, Department of English and Communications from year 2004 to 2005, Chairman COVID-19 Committee from 2020 till date, Chairman, Ceremonies Committee from 2019 till date, Chairman, Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee from 2019 till date.
Dr. Afolabi was Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Federal Polytechnic Offa Chapter from 2001 to 2005. He is a member, Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA); Member, Modern Languages Association (MLAN); Member, National Association of Teachers of English in Colleges of Education and Polytechnics (NATECEP).
He has a lot of books, novels and journals to his credit among which were The Agitators, Tomorrow on the Run, Nowhere to Hide, Smoke of Tinder, among many others.

The Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of the Polytechnic therefore congratulate the new acting Rector and wish him best of luck on his appointment.

The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has bagged an outstanding Institution award, awarded by TNT 102.5 FM, Ijagbo Kwara State in recognition of its contributions towards the development of Polytechnic education in Nigeria.

The award was given to the Polytechnic by the station during her 3rd year anniversary on 18th December, 2021.

The media organization also awarded regular listeners who have cultivated the habit of sending feedback to the organization through phone calls, messages etc and advertisers who have contributed to the development of the organization.

The Managing Director of the organization, Alhaji Yemi Zubair appreciated royal fathers, invited guests, awardees and general audiences for their massive turnout and support for the organization.

He emphasized on the vision, mission and core value of the station which is in tandem with the Nigeria Broadcasting Cooperation ( NBC). He said the organization always give equal representation to all parties without prejudice and always preserve the code of conducts guiding the rules and regulations of radio stations.

Also speaking, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) said the radio station has achieved greatly within the three years of establishment which is the output of dedication and commitment of its management and staff. He urged the listeners to continue their unflinching support for the organization.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Abosede Buraimoh commended the management of 'TNT' FM for its efforts towards the development of cultural heritage. Adding that Governor Abdulrasaq's administration loves culture and tourism and doing everything to promote tourism attraction in the state.

Reacting to the award, FEDPOFFA Director of Information Public Relations and Protocols, Olayinka Iroye who was represented by Usman Issa Olabanji ( Busy Brain ) thanked the Management of TNT' organization for deeming it fit to recognize the contributions of The Federal Polytechnic Offa towards the development of Polytechnic education in Nigeria.

"It is pertinent to appreciate the management of 'TNT' radio station for this award. Out of many institutions in Kwara State, the organization found the The Federal Polytechnic Offa worthy of the award. This award is a reflection of good media relation between the Polytechnic and the organization and it is an avenue to commend the Polytechnic as the great citadel of learning with inspiring academic records; for its contributions to the development of the Polytechnic education in Nigeria and as the fastest growing polytechnic in Nigeria, Africa Sub-sahara under the leadership of Dr. Lateef Olatunji," he said.

Farewell To Baba Suwe, The Father of Comedy In Nigeria

Growing up was marvelous, interesting, and amazing with fun and fare. Being a product of 90s was jocose, jocund, and jocular with the series of comical displays of Late 'Baba Suwe' on a movie set.

I was exposed to Baba Suwe's movies on black and white television screen before it was later transmogrified to the colored led television. What was peculiar to Baba Suwe was his style of dressing, multiple cardigans with extra-large trousers tied with a very thick rope. His costume was a unique one with his exclusive face with black shabby makeup. Late Baba Suwe and his wife Maladun kenkelewu were on the top chart of comic scenes with the likes of Pa Opebe, Pa Aluwe, Mr. Latin, Pa Ajirebi.

Theatre Practitioners in those days could be described as the best with many lessons, less porn unlike today's association characterized by obscenity, hatred, caucus segregation, and discrimination.

In the 20s, there are massive transformations in the theater industry with the advent of technology. The primitive costume of Baba Suwe could no longer match the movie set with the emergence of technology and young characters in the movie industry. But the unique style and comedy composition of Baba Suwe was maintained and sustained, he was relevant in the 80s, active in the 90s, and more 'swaggerlicious' in the 20s. He mingled well and face the reality as one of the topmost comedians in Yorubahood.

His movie career experienced a break as a result of his long-time illness. Baba Suwe fought sickness for many years till he lost the battle to the cold hand of death. Of course, death is a debt to be paid by the rich and the poor; no one dares to stop death when the time counts. No doubt, the time of Late Babatunde Omidina had counted and could not spend an extra time. A minute silence for the deceased, May God be pleased with him.

At the point of death, one of Baba Suwe's sons did a video capturing his father and somberly in tears, he accused the families, friends, and associates of neglecting Baba Suwe at the time of need. The boy claimed to have made clarion calls to different quarters but could not get that required assistance from anywhere. The video is just a certification to the current caucus discrimination and the level of negligence embedded in the so-called theater association. Many of the so-called celebrities were massively soliciting funds, votes for Big Brother Naija housemate while their brother from another mother in the industry was dying in seclusion. What kind of sermon, condolence would be tendered to the sons and daughters of Baba Suwe who were neglected at the time of need. It is high time the Yorubahood stars have a second thought over their act of negligence. The movie premiere party, birthday party, years on stage party could not be termed as love and support for one another. The support should be felt during distress, hard, and tormenting times. Many actors, actresses had died of sickness due to negligence. Crying at their funeral is tantamount to wickedness.

Baba Suwe has joined his ancestors, leaving the rest to this debris called the world. He is no doubt the father of comedy to be reckoned with till eternal calls. Condolence to the family. May God forgive his shortcomings.

For the past few months, one who is familiar with my writings and updates on pages of newspapers, either Nigerian Tribune, the Nation, or any of the online platforms would observe a hiatus. Countless times, I have been challenged by associates, friends, fans through calls and text messages for not writing for a long time. Jokingly, someone said the reality of life has dawned on me beyond writings. Of course, the reality of life has dawned on a larger portion of average Nigerians as a result of the current economic downturn. But for not putting my thoughts together like before, it is not about reality in the dawn, it is about the negligence, the jabberwocky, and disjointed governance in Nigeria. One with deep thought will lose interest in virtually everything in Nigeria. Massive killings, aggressive increase in the price of products and services, among others are the reality facing Nigerians without egress.

While my pen and paper were maintaining siesta, Nigerian virtuoso, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido just stirred my pen and reasoning faculty as a result of his massive 100 Million naira challenge which later sum up to 200 million naira.

In less than 48 hours, the Osun-born popstar made huge millions of naira from fans, lovers, families, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate his birthday. Initially, many derogatory remarks have been slammed on the singer for demanding money in the public. Of course, such development is rare for a billionaire who is the son of a billionaire to start begging for money on social media. Funnily enough, he said he wanted to use the money to clear his Roll Royce. Least of wonders that he never disclosed the premise of his sudden hustles. He kept it within himself and play along by not responding to jibes and taunts. Incredible!

What Davido did has never been done by any celebrity in Nigeria. When it comes to charity and offerings, Nigerian celebrities lack courtesy in that regard. They rarely help themselves not to talk of citizens. Davido has taught many how to celebrate birthdays, how to entrench charity, and how to give back to society.

Had Davido announced what he wanted to do with the money, such donation will never see the rays of light in millions. What people do with their money is none of anyone's business but credit must be accorded to one whose instinct propelled others to unknowingly engage in the act of charity. What a blessed soul!

If not for anything, Davido deserves honor and encomiums from all quarters as he broke another record among counterparts. I'm a lover of music in general but now a lover of Davido in particular. The level of charity that runs in Adeleke's family is one to be reckoned with. Davido has won many hearts for his gesture and not only for himself but for his uncle in a gubernatorial race in Osun State.

Davido's second moniker should be wisdom for adding his personal 50 million naira to the money donated. It is a big shut up for anyone who would think he cannot offer his personal money to the orphanage if not for donations. The likes of Obi Cubana and other giant contributors should embrace the precept ingrained. Jamboree and profligate spending to stir jarring din and hourly hoopla in the media should not be a priority.

The government has failed the masses and Davido has led the struggles to take over to render help with utmost accountability. He has made his part count in the forest of the brave and he has initiated a legacy for generous minds. Happy birthday to superman. The one in a million!

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged graduating students of The Federal Polytechnic Offa to utilize skills acquired in the institution to the service of this nation.

He added that they should contribute into the entrepreneurial field, instead of waiting for white collar jobs, create businesses and be employer of labour.

The 11th convocation ceremony was held on Thursday, 11th November 2021.

According to him, “The wealth of this nation is in the hands of teeming youths, who are willing to nurture businesses, explore opportunities and create ventures that are noble and novel.

“Education is the fundamental foundation for human capital development. This administration is doing everything possible to re-invent the system in order to address the challenges of the 21st century."

He then charged the institution's governing council to promote the government policies of change in the system and work harmoniously for the benefit of the educational system.

He however, felicitated with the parents for their sacrifices to see the graduands through their tertiary education.

Buhari was represented by the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu who was equally represented by Director of Polytechnic Education and Allied Institutions, Mr. Adeoye Adeleye.

Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Sadauki has lamented about the increasing wave of insecurity in the country which is adversely affecting the educational sector.

Prof Sadauki of Department of Geography, Federal University of Technology Minna spoke on Wednesday during the 11th convocation lecture of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State.

The Prof identified that Nigeria is under a siege following insecurity of the country in a lecture titled "Nigeria Security Challenge: Implications for Sustainable Educational and Economic Development"


According to him, "educational sector is affected as a result of the current insecurity in the country and education being the bedrock of growth and development of any society should be saved from collapse."

He said one of the reasons for insecurity challenges in the country is lack of knowledge, adding that most of the perpetrators turned the true knowledge upside down and interpreted it the best way they understood because they lack the requisite knowledge.

Speaking further, he described the lecture as one coming at the right time due to the current happenings in the country.

Prof Abubakar further opined that the current insecurity challenges confronting the country can be a thing of the past if the federal government can re-organize the country's intelligence system and build a capable and more proactive security apparatus in Nigeria.

He further advised the government to include peace studies and security management in school curriculum at primary, secondary and tertiary levels in Nigeria to enable Nigerian Youths to appreciate the importance of peace and security in a secular nation like Nigeria.

He stated that the first step to understanding security challenges is to ask if Nigeria is actually a nation.

He said, “It is unfortunate that Nigeria has never had an elite system, whether colonial or post-colonial that really takes seriously the need to weld the people into a nation. They rather break the people apart through ethnic chauvinism, religious fanaticism and electoral malfeasance."

He further explained that insecurity will continue to grow because some Nigerian government officials are involved in negotiating with abductors and bandits.

Prof Abubakar explained that insecurity needs to be tackled because no nation can achieve socio-economic development in an environment of socio and physical insecurity.

He called on government at all levels on the need for arresting the menace of insecurity which will not only protect lives and properties, but will also improve the fortunes of the country in all ramifications.

The Ibolo Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has met with the Kwara State Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Shaba Yisa Gideon for possible solutions to the heaps of problem facing agricultural business in Ibolo Kingdom.

The meeting which was held on 2nd of November 2021 via zoom channeled a proposal to the office of the Honorable Commissioner for possible action.

Some of the challenges mentioned are agro wastages and preparation machinery, lack of transportation, lack of access to improved seeds, chemicals and fertilizer, lack of access to funding in order to maximize planting and harvesting cycle, irrigation problem, lack of extension services which will bring regular engagement with the community, training and extension services among others

The President of ICCIMA, Mr. Paul Olagunju after analyzing the challenges facing agriculture proposed that the ministry should establish AgroBusiness hub at two locations in Ibolo for processing and packaging of foods such as Gari, yam flour, starch. He also said there is need for Commercial fish farm that will position Kwara state for both local consumption and export of fish.

Speaking further, the President equally proposed that cashew and cocoa processing facility

inludung construction of feeder roads from major towns to link the various farming communities.

He urged the Kwara State government to establish farm produce market to improve the economic activities in the area; introduce modern technology to drive productivity in agribusiness activities; establish agric fairs to take place twice a year, namely pre- planting and post-harvest season which will bring all the stakeholders together and will be a veritable platform for interactions and exchange of ideas.

Mr. Bashir Lawal in his contribution tasked government to intensify effort by providing farm machinery and improve on the level of providing security for the farmers.

While Mr. Wole Alawode charged Kwara Government on adding more value to agro processing in terms of farm machinery. He urged the government to facilitate access to agricultural machinery for agricultural business to strive.

The commissioner in his response said all the challenges of ICCIMA have been noted for action. He acknowledged the chamber for taking up the task to improve food production and helping farmers at the grassroots. He added that current administration led by Mallam. Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq have been up and doing in the area of agriculture and food production.

Hon. Gideon reiterated that the state government has magnanimously shared fertilizer, farm crops and seeds to farmers to boost farming system. He said Kwara State government is already working on international market where farmers can bring their products and give room for buyers and sellers to interact. He added that the Chamber leaders would be carried along in the next tranche of disbursement of the farm tools.

Speaking on security challenges facing farmers, the commissioner said the State Government had met with herdsmen leaders to sound note of warning to them as regards to their cows destroying farmlands across the state. He added that the government in a banquet hall meeting with herders had informed their leaders to control their subject against destroying farmlands which is the means of livelihood for farmers in the state.

He therefore noted the agricultural industry in the state that had long been abandoned have been resuscitated by the present administration.

Mr. Ajani Bolakake Waidi in a closing remark thanked the Honorable Commissioner for taking time to attend the meeting and for taking note of the challenges facing agricultural business in Ibolo land for further building of economic unity as well as advocate for better business environment in Kwara State and the nation at large.

Ibolo communities which include the towns of Offa, Erin Ile, Ijagbo, Ira, Ipee, Ilemona, Ojoku, Igosun, Igbawere, Igbonna, Inaja and Ikotun came together to establish the Ibolo Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) with a belief of harnessing natural endowment for investment purpose as well as fast track Ibolo land to become business hub.

Ibolo Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines And Agriculture has announced date for a 2-day startegic workshop in conjunction with DGI foundation, Abuja.

The program which will be held on 9th and 10th of November 2021 at Avalon hotel in Offa Kwara State is tilted: "Positioning ICCIMA for Effective Wealth Creation and Poverty Eradication in Ibololand"

While sub theme of the programme include: Mapping of the resources and comparative advantages, SWOT Analyses; Determining major areas of resource development and investment focus for the Chamber in next Four years;
Linkages, Capacity building and strengthening needs and opportunities for the Chamber and the people; De-risking of Investment Climates; and
Sustaining cohesion and expanding acceptability.

The expected partners for the program are: Technology Incubation Centre, Offa
,One Innovation Hub, Offa, Bank of Industry, Ilorin, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Ilorin, Raw Material Research and Development Agency, Ilorin
and Obelawo Centre for Entrepreneurship, Education and Leadership Development OCEELD.

The maximum number of 40 participants comprising of
members of the Executive Committee of ICCIMA, KWACCIMA and DGI, representatives of Kwara State Government and Local Governments, representatives of Ibolo Peace Parley, representatives of Programme Partners and Facilitators and representatives of Educational Institutions will be at the program.

The 2 Day strategic workshop will focus essentially on the following:

Positioning the Chamber for the challenges ahead: The need to effectively strengthen governance of the Chamber for the challenges ahead;

Linkages and partnership: The need to have a robust linkages and partnership programme especially for capacity building of the chamber and the people of Ibolo land in general;

Investment Climate De-risking: The need to de-risk the investment climate in Ibolo land and Nigeria. Indeed, there are lots of people who are ready and willing to invest but there are risks and hindrances associated with investments.

A clear roadmap: The Chamber needs a clear roadmap to provide a direction for its activities. The roadmap is to be developed during workshop.

The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, has announced dates and schedule of programmes for the institution's 11th convocation.

The ceremony which will commence on 5th to 11th of November 2021 will host President Muhammadu Buhari, the Visitor to the Polytechnic and special guest of honour.

Sunday 7th of November 2021 is scheduled for convocation church prayer in the Chapel of Grace, Mini Campus.

Monday 8th of November 2021 is for convocation press briefing in the Polytechnic Board Room, Main Campus.

Wednesday 10th of November 2021 is scheduled for convocation lecture and exhibition of the Polytechnic products at the 1000 Capacity Lecture Theatre, Main Campus.

Thursday 11th of November 2021 is the grand finale of the convocation, for the award of National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), prizes and conferment of Honorary Fellowship to two Distinguished personalities; Senator Arc Lola Ashiru and Prof Ahmed Sadauki Abubakar.

The convocation which is a combined one is for graduands of 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic sessions.

The Alumni Association of The Federal Polytechnic Offa has congratulated Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi, Chairman Avalon Intercontinental on his installation as the new Asiwaju of Offa by His Royal Highness, Oba Muhammad Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Ajagungbade l Esuwoye ll.

FEDPOFFA Rector Charges Govt on Strengthening Polytechnic Education In Nigeria



The Rector of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji has made a call to the Government and relevant stakeholders in the Polytechnic sector on the need for strengthening Polytechnic education as panacea for combating contemporary challenges in Nigeria.

This was disclosed at the 2021 Joint National Conference of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin on 28th of September 2021.

Dr Olatunji who was the key note speaker at the conference asserted that Polytechnic education plays a vital role in human resource development of a country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life. He said Vocational and Technical Education has been a major tool which advanced countries like Japan, America, China used to develop their economy.

Speaking further, Dr. Olatunji enumerated the Polytechnic mandate of training and producing middle and high level manpower in technology, applied sciences, management and other fields of applied learning relevant to the needs of the development of Nigeria in the areas of industrial and agricultural production.

He however advocates for the introduction of courses that would create self employment for Polytechnic graduates, funding and provision of infrastructural facilities for Polytechnics and Technical institutions, and encourages research that would lead to capacity building.

Present at the conference are the Honorable Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Kwara State, Barrister Ibrahim Sulyman, Chairman Governing Council of Kwara State Polytechnic, Dr S.S Yaru, Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. The Alumni Association of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has congratulated its member, Mrs Olatomiwa Williams on her appointment as the new country Manager for Microsoft.

This was contained in a release signed by Association's President and General Secretary, Dr Ayo Adeyemi and Saheed Akinwumi on 5th of August 2021.

She joined Microsoft in year 2010 as the Enterprise Voice Technology Specialist. She has also held various positions including Partner Technology Manager, Dynamics Partner Sales Executives as well as Account Technology Strategist.

She has over 21 years Information Technology Experience which spans through Solution Implementation, Solution Sales and Channels Management.

Fedpoffa Orientates New Students, Lists Examination Offences




Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state has orientated the newly admitted students for 2020/2021 academic session on the rules and regulations and general code of conduct of the Polytechnic.

The orientation ceremony was held on Thursday, 29th of July, 2021 at the 1,000 capacity auditorium, Main Campus.

The Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji in his opening address said the new intakes are lucky to sail through to be admitted into the Polytechnic and implored the students to stay away completely from any act of drug abuse, cultism, stealing, physical and sexual assault, adding that the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for the vices.

According to him, “If you are guilty of any these vices, the Polytechnic will not desist to take the appropriate sanction, which may include summary withdrawal."

Also speaking, Dean, Directorate of Examinations, Mr. Lawal Tunde admonished students to protect their studentship by not indulging in examination malpractices. He advised the students to always get to the examination venue 30 minutes before the stipulated time and never enter the venue with incriminating materials.

He said, " Examination and character are the two measures that we use to determine whether you are worthy of the certificate of this great institution. Conduct yourself very well and do do not enter the venue with incriminating materials."

While analyzing the examination offences, Mr. Lawal said: " Any digital electronics whether working or not are prohibited."

The prohibited electronic materials include: Handset, Digital Wristwatch, electronic pen, earpiece among others.

Speaking further, the Dean of Examinations added that exchanging question papers, answer booklets, writing on the question paper, jotting on palms, laps, speaking inside examination hall, indecent dressing, untidy hair cut, act of hooliganism to other students, invigilators are serious offences that are prohibited in examination hall.

The Deputy Registrar SERVICOM, Mr. Omole emphasizes on discipline and morality on campus. He added that students are free to report cases of extortion, sexual harassment, threat and physical assault to SERVICOM without any fear.

While the Polytechnic Chief Security Officer, Mr. Moshood Ibrahim beseeches students to be security conscious at all time and report any untoward incidents to the security personnel on campus.

The Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Waheed Balogun congratulated the students, he charged them to abide by all rules and regulations of the Polytechnic and always tailor their grievances to the Directorate of Students' Affairs.

Fedpoffa Management Buys Motorcycles, SmartPhones For Security Personnel On Campus for Effective Communication




Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has purchased smartphones for security personnel on campus for easy communication while discharging their duty.

This was borne out of the efforts of the Management through Security Trust Fund to beef up communication and connection between
Securities on campus.

While handing over the smartphones to the security personnel, the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi said good smart phone for communication is one of the essentials required of security experts, he further charged the security on campus to be more vigilant and make use of the new devices judiciously. He added that the Management in all ramifications will continue to provide necessary support to enhance the productivity of the security unit.

Also speaking, Director of Works and Services, Engr. B.M. Suleiman acknowledged the management and the security operatives . He charged them to use the smartphones for the purpose it was purchased. He added that the personnel should come together and develop new strategies that will further improve their assiduity and efficiency.

Recall that the Management had earlier purchased motorcycles and other security kits for security men on campus for easy patrol most especially to areas that can not be covered by patrol vehicle.

While reacting to the gesture, the Polytechnic Chief Security Officer, Mallam Mashood Ibrahim thanked the management led by Dr. Lateef Olatunji for being proactive in addressing security related matters. He added that his security team will not misuse the purpose of the devices and will always put more efforts to assure safe haven for both staff and students.

Fedpoffa Management Warns Matriculating Students Against Cultism, Cybercrime, Other Vices



The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state, on Friday, has advised newly intakes against indulging themselves in cultism, cybercrime, examination malpractices and other antisocial activities.

The Rector, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji, made this known in his speech during the 27th matriculation ceremony held at the 1,000 capacity Auditorium, Main Campus, Offa.

He added that the new intakes are lucky to sail through to be admitted into the fastest growing Polytechnic in Nigeria, Africa Sub-sahara.

Dr. Olatunji implored the students to stay away completely from any act of drug abuse, indecent dressing, cultism and other social vices that are capable of terminating their studentship, saying that the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for these vices.

He added that cheating during examination or continuous assessment, stealing, physical and sexual assault, wearing crazy jeans, plaiting coloured hair ( attachment), piercing of nose, wearing short gown, skimpy clothes, using leg chain...etc are prohibited.

“If you are caught and found guilty of any of these vices, the Polytechnic will not desist to take the appropriate sanction, which may include expulsion,” he warned.

Dr. Olatunji said that the institution is among the most sought-after due to its stable academic calendar, and that all its programmes are fully accredited at the ND and HND levels with seasoned lecturers.


The Rector added that after accreditation by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the polytechnic will commence National Diploma in Art and Design, Purchasing and Supply, Public Administration, Agricultural Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Geological Technology, Hospitality Management, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering and Petroleum Resources Engineering. While Surveying and Geoinformatics, Urban and Regional Planning will start running Higher National Diploma (HND) programs.

FEDPOFFA, FUOYE Sign MOU To Commence HND To B.Sc Top-Up/Conversion Programmes


The Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Management of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State to commence HND to B.Sc Top-Up/conversion programmes in Management, Engineering, Sciences and Social Sciences related courses.

The MOU was signed on 23rd of June, 2021 at the VC office, FUOYE after the Managements of the two institutions mutually agreed on the terms of reference and conditions governing the academic affiliations and collaborations as stated by National Universities Commission ( NUC).

Rector of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji in his address appreciated the Management of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti for extending the tentacles of the University to collaborate with The Federal Polytechnic Offa. He added that the Polytechnic has been effectively and efficiently running affiliation programmes with other institutions without any hitch in terms of facilities, equipment and qualified personnels. He however assured FUOYE Management of maximum cooperation as the Polytechnic will not operate outside the Memorandum of Understanding signed.

According to him: " I want to appreciate the Management of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti for this academic partnership. It is on record that we were ranked best affiliate institution by National Universities Commission (NUC) and we are at the same time on affiliation and collaboration with other institutions without any hindrance. I want to assure you that our affiliation will be successful because we have everything in place to make it a productive venture and partnership."

The Vice Chancellor , Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina acknowledged the proactive response of the Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa to affiliation request. He described it as a prompt response from a forward looking and serious minded Management. He however urged the Management to work in line with the Memorandum of Understanding as signed by the two institutions.

Prof Abayomi added that the University will be looking forward to more robust collaborations in the area of research and staff development with the Polytechnic.

Fedpoly Offa Governing Council Pays Homage To Olofa, Meets Polytechnic Staff



The newly constituted Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Offa Chaired by Dr. Usman Bukani Ahmad, MFR has paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Olofa of Offa, Oba Muhammad Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Ajagungbade l Esuowye ll in his Palace on Wednesday 2nd, June 2021 and has equally met with all staff of the Polytechnic on Thursday, 3rd of June, 2021.

At the palace, Dr. Usman said the members of the Governing Council have deemed it necessary to first pay homage to the monarch before commencing their official assignment in the Polytechnic as assigned by the Federal Government.

He further sought for monarch's support for continuous development of the Polytechnic. He said the council has come to further cement the already established mutual relationship and development between the Polytechnic and the community at large.

The Olofa in his response welcomed the Governing Council Chairman and members to Offa. He described the appointment of sixth Chairman Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Offa as home coming.

According to him: " I was happy about the appointment of the sixth Governing Council Members and I welcome you all to Offa, the home of hospitality. The relationship between the community and the Polytechnic has been very cordial and smooth. Everywhere is peaceful, safe and calm and I'm ready to give you my full support more than you required. Feel free to call me for any support and assistance. I wish you all a successful tenure."


While addressing staff of the Polytechnic during the inaugural meeting held at the Polytechnic main campus, Dr. Usman said the Council members have noted and appreciated all the achievements of the Polytechnic so far and the newly constituted members will facilitate and add value to the Polytechnic achievements. He noted that while the council members will work harmoniously with the management, staff and students to move the Polytechnic higher, it will not condone any act of indiscipline from any staff or anything act that will be detrimental to attainments of vision and mission of the Polytechnic.

The Rector, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji in his welcome address at the inaugural meeting thanked the Almighty God for bringing all the council members safely to the Polytechnic and acknowledged President Buhari's led administration for appointing seasoned administrators, prolific and erudite scholars as council members to paddle the affairs of the Polytechnic with the Management.

Dr. Olatunji further pledged maximum cooperation and support of the management, staff and students for the Governing Council.

The Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi in his closing remarks reiterates the laudable achievements recorded by Dr. Olatunji's led administration. He enjoined all staff members to continue to give their best for the betterment of the Polytechnic and also support the sixth council in their national assignment.

Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa through medical center have taken up the initiative and responsibility to organize free medical check up in order to enhance the health status of all staff and enable them to be hale and hearty.

Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Lateef Olatunji with other principal officers and management staff have flagged off the check up program on Tuesday 1st of June, 2020 at the Polytechnic main campus.

During flag off program, the Rector advised all staff to take health care as priority and use the free opportunity to submit themselves for comprehensive check up at the Polytechnic medical centers.

He said, a country, organization or institution with good health care system experience growth and development because health is wealth. The Rector emphasized the commitment of the management towards training and re-training of staff and improvement on health care.

While commissioning a new haematology analyzer machine procured for the medical center, Dr. Olatunji pledged more support to improve more on health facilities in medical centers.

He further acknowledged the tremendous efforts of staff of medical centers in the face of Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world and assured the Polytechnic health workers of continuous support from the management.

The Acting Medical Director of the Polytechnic, Dr. Bisi Omotosho enunciates the benefit and impact of the check up on staff. He said the management in collaboration with the medical center came up with idea of having annual comprehensive check up for staff to prevent mortalities due to non communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, prostrate cancer...etc.

Dr. Omotoho noted that early detention or identification of any disease or ailment give chance of getting treatment quickly and help to avoid complications. He stressed further that early detection will increase lifespan, reduce health cost by avoiding costly medical services and reduce loss of working hour as a result of non communicable diseases.

According to him: "Regular medical check-ups can help find potential health issues before they become a problem. When you see your health-care giver regularly, they are able to detect health conditions or diseases early. Early detection gives you the best chance for getting the right treatment quickly and avoiding any complications."

While commending the management led by Dr. Olatunji for creating a befitting opportunity for medical check up, he implored the polytechnic community to take the free medical check up seriously as these diseases are the common cause of sudden death.

ASUP Presents Award To Olofa of Offa, Seeks Royal Intervention Into Lingering National Strike


The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Zone C chapter has paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Olofa of Offa, Oba Muhammad Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Ajagungbade l Esuwoye ll in his palace to felicitate with him for his 11th year coronation anniversary.

The ASUP Zone C executives accompanied by members ASUP Federal Polytechnic Offa Chapter executives and members of management staff were at the monarch palace to present a portrait award of felicitation to the royal father, thereby seeking the monarch interference in the on going ASUP nation wide industrial action that has crippled educational activities of Polytechnic campuses with adverse effects also on the economic activities of host communities.

ASUP Zone C Coordinator, Engr. Yekeen Nureni Asafe on behalf of National President of ASUP, Comrade Anderson Ezeibe said the ongoing strike action is impacting negatively on the students, their parents and on people that derive their livelihood on business within and outside the campuses across the nation; Offa community inclusive. He therefore urged His Royal Highness to use his personal and royal network to speak with the government of Nigeria to do the needful by paying the 15billion naira revitalization fund and 4billion naira minimum wage arrears in order for teaming students of Nigeria Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology to resume learning activities.

The union also seek royal support towards completion of ASUP digital classroom situated at The Federal Polytechnic Offa.

Engr. Asafe noted that the project is a turning point in the history of ASUP of the Federal Polytechnic Offa chapter as the institution is the first beneficiary among the chapters qualified for the project due to the responsible and responsiveness management led by Dr. Lateef Olatunji and ASUP union led by Engr. Dr. Waheed Balogun.

He added that the digital classroom which will cost the union 27 million naira will benefit the institution and Offa community in offering digital and computer based services to students, staff and indigenes when completed.

While responding to the ASUP requests, the Olofa of Offa who is also the imperial majesty of Ibolo Kingdom promised the union swift intervention into the ongoing industrial action and the completion of the Union digital classroom.

According to him: " I sincerely thank ASUP zone C executives for this honor. When I heard that ASUP wants to give me an award, I was surprised but made up my mind to be available despite my tight schedules today, and for this portrait award with good wordings to felicitate with me on my anniversary, I appreciate you. It shows that I belong to ASUP zone C in reality."

"On your requests to resolve the strike and your project, I promise to start working on it with immediate effect and you will see the impact of my interference soon. I will also communicate with the Chairman, ASUP FEDPOFFA chapter and the Rector for my substantially and quick intervention to complete your digital classroom project."


The Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji, represented by Director of Academic Planning, Dr. S.A Raji thanked Olofa of Offa for his continuous and unflinching support for the development of the polytechnic. He appreciated the royalty for acceding to the requests of the union on the completion of the project and national strike action.

While giving vote of thanks, ASUP FEDPOFFA General Secretary, Surv. Stephen Obosua thanked the royal father for not only listening to the union but also promising to do something to their requests within shortest period of time.

At times, one would think those who are learned and versed in a particular field of study will perform better in the helm of affairs of the country. That's why many of the President Buhari's critic always crucify his weak and porous education as one that is detrimental and injurious to his performance tickling the clock of the National progress backward.

Buhari's failure in all ramifications is mostly attributed to low education to handle many critical cum economic challenges ravaging the country, of course, education matters a lot when we talk of leadership but this does not seem to work perfectly in Nigeria as the educated elites are even worse than the less educated folks.

The case of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai has indicated that one can be educated and still be a failure in governance. Sometimes ago, I have always thought of supporting El-rufai if he has interest in presidential race. In fact, like every other concerned citizen would have, I saw leadership charisma in him as to handle the heaps of problems battling the country. Recently, I realized supporting someone like El-rufai for presidential nomination is mere a daydreaming and an attempt to remove Nigerians from a shallow grave to a dungeon. At the moment, I will score Buhari with low education higher than a learned lawyer who sacked workers and still declared people fighting for their right wanted.

Kaduna, in my bar chart is topping the table of states under the scourge of deadly security threat. The hiker level of Kaduna killings and kidnappings and the approach which Mr. El-rufai is using to combat the situation shows he is a hall of shame in guise. El-rufai who vowed not to pay ransom to kidnappers is not bothered on how to restore peace and normalcy but added more spices to cause another social unrest in the state by flexing muscle with the Labour Union.

Unarguable, Kaduna State is now a dangerous state to live, work or visit in terms of the regularity of bloodshed, kidnappings and killings by bandits and ethno-religious inspired violence. The level of insecurity in Kaduna State today is a function of unprecedented, cruel anti-workers’ policy of the Kaduna State Government including repeated mass layoffs. The uncontrolled insecurity is, therefore, the ’harvest’ or product of the state’s anti-labour policies.

Reports have it that in 2016, over 13,000 workers considered to be ghost workers were dismissed. The following year, another 40,000 public sector workers were retrenched. Around half of these were teachers. The state arbitrarily pegged the pass mark for their competency test at an unprecedented 75 per cent. Many of these teachers did not receive any redundancy money.

Another report shows that from April of this year, the state government has been dismissing, perhaps, as many as another 17,000 workers. This includes 6,000 local governments and primary health care workers who have all received their marching orders. The remaining 11,000 workers from the state ministries have been listed for dismissal on account of having spent 30 years and above in service and/or being on level 14 and above.

Irritably, pensioners who have earned pensions for between 5 and 10 years and have ‘refused to die’ are no longer to be paid. The state government maintains that their children should take care of them. The hell in El-rufai claims that these policies are necessary due to declining revenues.

Nigeria Labour Congress in solidarity with sacked workers stormed Kaduna state to vent their anger and disapproval against the high level of wickedness displayed by the state governor, the protest is not even about killings, banditry and kidnappings anymore because that have been part and parcel of El-rufai's administration. The protest is about livelihood and sustainability of three square meals disrupted by the autocratic governor.

More of the reasons why Nigeria like other African countries is backward is because people are power-intoxicated. They rule like Pharaoh and display wickedness in the name of constituted authority. El-rufai has forgotten that power drunkards like him have been relegated to twitter while many have been kept under spiral of silence. El-rufai should know better that power is transient.

It is pitiable and disheartening that a learned lawyer does not realize that a modern state needs satisfied workers, our 'khakistocratic' governor doesn't know that a modern state can only be built by a well-motivated workforce, decent health and educational services can only be provided by nurses and teachers who have confidence in the government that they will be paid at the end of the month and not the ones living in fear of losing their jobs.

Now, nurses below level 14 and workers in state owned institutions have equally been sacked for joining the solidarity protest against Mr. Governor's heinous decision.

Tell El-rufai to stop displaying the hell in him, the world is watching.

Fedpoly Offa Management Receives Presidential Visitation Panel, Commends FG





Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has received 2021 Presidential Visitation Panel set up by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education to assess the Polytechnics in Nigeria and make recommendation for improvement.

The Federal Polytechnic Offa Panel headed by Professor Duro Oni from University of Lagos also had 5 other members and a secretary.

The Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji in his opening address welcomed the visitation panel to the Polytechnic and assured the panel members of maximum support and cooperation from the Management, staff and students.

According to him": It gives me great pleasure to welcome the Federal Government's constituted visitation team to this great citadel of learning. We give glory to God for your safety from various destination. It is essential to thank Mr. President Government through the Ministry of Education for gathering these crop of seasoned administrators who are versatile and adept educationists as members of the visitation panel to our great institution. With the combination of this great minds, I'm confident that your findings, observations and recommendations will eradicate the challenges facing Polytechnic education, rejig and improve the Polytechnic sector in general."

While addressing the Management and the staff of the Polytechnic, Chairman of the panel, Prof. Duro Oni itemised the terms of references to the polytechnic community and assured the entire staff of the Polytechnic equal treatment, and representation.

Prof. Oni further emphasized on the core mandate of the panel as one that is devoid of witch hunting and not an avenue to settle old grudges within the system. He stressed further that the purpose of setting up the panel is to look into the areas facing set back in the Polytechnic system and make recommendation for the betterment of all the Polytechnics in Nigeria.

The emeritus Professor however charged the polytechnic community to present a memoranda to the panel regarding any complaint and assured that all sides would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

He said: "Giving us this mandate, the Honorable Minister clearly stated that the exercise is not to witch hunt nor jamboree of unnecessary and wasteful spending. Our job is to listen to everyone, we are not a court of law and we are not going to pass judgment on anyone. All we are expected to do is to study the situation of the Polytechnic and make recommendation; where there is need for clarity, it would be sorted out. The memoranda should be submitted as we are on ground to address all issues.

Speaking further, he said it is not the time for the Polytechnic staff to revisit old wounds. He added that if there are grievances, the panel will listen to all sides equally as nobody will be silenced or marginalized.

He stressed further that the members of visitation panel are happy because the Rector has assured them of maximum cooperation from the Polytechnic as the goal is to make recommendation for the betterment of The Federal Polytechnic Offa and other Polytechnics in Nigeria.

Speaking on the terms of references, the Chairman said each panel is expected to review the performance of the institution, assign the areas of governance, academic standards, quality assurance, management of finances and relationship between the Management, staff and students. He added that the panel is charged with the onus of reassessment of the institution on physical infrastructure as well as structural facilities and advise the government properly on it and other pertinent issues. Terms of references also involve looking into the leadership quality of the institution, the head of the institution and other principal officers and also look into the financial management of the institution over the recommended periods among others.


The Secretary to the panel, Mr. Adesoji Ogunkunle notifies the Polytechnic staff and community on the submission of memoranda. He noted that the submission will be closed on Tuesday 4th of May, 2021 as announced in the media.

Other members of the panel are: Prof. Rotgak Illiya Gofwen, Mrs Hadiza Tukur, Mr. Sekonde Davies, Arc. Sani I. Savliwa, Hon. Ethelbert A.T. Onuha.

Eedris Abdulkareem vs Festus Keyamo: A Show of Shame On Social Media

The media war between the reputable Minister, Festus Keyamo and Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem dragged many Nigerians to the court of public opinions. As many see some senses in what Keyamo did and praised him for exposing a long time private messages between him and the rapper. Many at the same time got disappointed in the honorable Minister for stooping so low to that extent of waspish revelation of what is expected to be private.

From the leaked text messages, Eedris actually approached Keyamo for a favour. Other request to support President Buhari's campaign was additional to get the loan from Keyamo.

Here is unedited text of Eedris as revealed by Keyamo : *"Thank God I finally met you today. Baba pls I need one small favour I need you in the name of God and our long time relationship to give me a loan to pay my outstanding bill and go back to Lagos and take care of my sick mum that undergoes dialysis once in a month"*

From the above, Eedris initially approached Keyamo for loan help in the name of God and long time friendship. Of course, no one gives you a loan and leaves you alone. I see other attachment of campaigning for Buhari as an avenue to seal the loan deal.

Many people opined that Eedris messed himself for turning himself to a beggar with such respect and humility before Keyamo and on the other hand, forming activist. Many accused Eedris of having interest in the National cake. Eedris approached Keyamo as a long time friend and the kind of relationship the duo maintained, not as a stranger. If not because of the relationship between them, why Keyamo and not other Politician.

Jagajaga reloaded that stirred tantrums, banters and controversies on twitter is another version of beautiful and satirical lyrics that addressed the woes betiding the country. Festus Keyamo dragged the public attention to his side. No one seems to bother about name calling but the message in the lyrics. Keyamo gave more strength and prominence to the music because he is pained and assumed his name was mentioned because he had once ghosted the rapper. Keyamo has forgotten that granting Eedris' request might not stop Jagajaga reloaded because many supported Buhari in 2015, 2019 and currently have become conk critics of the administration because of the horrible nature of the country.

Eedris might have intentionally called out Keyamo because he was ghosted but Keyamo should have allowed the sleeping dog to lie for the fact that the country is really jagajaga with persistent killings, kidnappings and attacks from left right and center.

Keyamo has no other messages to leak but Eedris has more lyrics to sing and music is a universal language that everyone understands.

Whether Keyamo is part of cabals or not, the fact remains that Nigeria is Jagajaga. Not admitting this fact is simply a show of shame.

The free flow of any institution depends on the ability of a finesse leader to lead and manage both human and capital resources for institutional growth and development. This analogy resonates well with the level of transformation the Federal Polytechnic Offa has witnessed so far under the leadership of Dr. AbduLateef Ademola Olatunji.

Before Dr. Olatunji's administration, the Federal Polytechnic Offa was ranking between 30th to 40th position among 112 Polytechnics in Nigeria; the emergence of Dr. Olatunji has upgraded the Polytechnic's rank to number 8 among Polytechnics and monothechnics in Nigeria.

The transformation agenda of the Federal Polytechnic Offa Rector could easily be noticed with the number of affiliation degree programmes that are currently going on in the Polytechnic. Of course, the tenure of this Rector has brought a tremendous pride and prestige to the Polytechnic as industrial collaborations and affiliations are on the rise.

Currently, the Federal Polytechnic Offa in affiliation with Federal University of Technology Minna is running degree programmes. Similarly, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho are on the verge of partnership to commence HND to BSc conversion programmes and at the same time, IVTEC Ajase Ipo has extended the partnership gesture to the Polytechnic among others.

As a matter of fact, affiliation and collaborations programmes is not achieved cheaply, it takes a facility tour to ensure standardization of both human and material resources before take off. A kind of conducive, convenient and robust atmosphere for research and academic excellence created by the Dr. Olatunji's led Management has ushered academic partnership from left, right and center.

Frankly, academic and infrastructural development under Dr. Olatunji has been a very great and beautiful exploration. The part ll of this piece would cover infrastructural development. A great deal of successes have been recorded beyond pen and paper on academic development.

Under the leadership of Dr. Olatunji, the Polytechnic was ranked as best affiliate institution in Nigeria by Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC). A feat well acknowledged in an official letter directed to the Polytechnic by NUC. Similarly, the Industrial Trust Fund ranked the Polytechnic as best in SIWES performance among other institutions in Kwara State.

Edifices aside, accreditation and reaccreditation of courses offered in tertiary institutions poses great challenge; many Universities, Polytechnics have suffered set back due to unaccredited courses being offered. Accreditation of courses in institutions is not an easy deal. It is a serious matter that requires utmost attention of any serious Management. Unarguably, Dr. Olatunji's led administration has librated the Polytechnic from accreditation threats as all courses offered in the institution are fully accredited.

For being the ‘Most Sought After Polytechnic’ according to JAMB ranking, it does not only mean the Polytechnic offers best technical education, it equally shows students want certificates that are accredited.

Accreditation is in tandem with standard facilities and equipment. Dr. Olatunji's laborious efforts in equipping the studio, laboratories and workshops in the Polytechnic can not be measured. A multi million naira Mass Communication Departmental Studio equipment and Civil Engineering Irrigation Laboratory equipment procured from China speak more of the assiduous mindset of the Rector to make students of The Federal Polytechnic Offa compete favourably with counterparts globally.

Under Dr. Olatunji, the Polytechnic has been on the record of running uninterrupted academic calendar. Despite Covid-19 challenges, the Polytechnic is the first institution that completed 2019/2020 academic session and one of the few institutions that have commenced 2020/2021 academic session with strict Covid-19 compliance.

Development is a process but it starts with human beings. Staff development metamorphosed to institutional development. Without putting staff welfare and development into perspective, the Polytechnic growth and development will be retarded. Dr. Olatunj's transformation agenda started with staff welfare and development. The institution is fast becoming a den of PhD holders with myriads in view.

Dr. Olatunji has opened door for academic breakthrough which has led to multiple PhDs in the Polytechnic. As of today, The Federal Polytechnic Offa is one of the leading Polytechnics in Nigeria with highest number of Doctorate Degree holders; If Polytechnic system embraces professorial exploration, the Federal Polytechnic Offa would have been an habitation of professors. The input and output of these erudite scholars have in turn placed the Polytechnic on an enviable height.

When you have a leader that grants opportunity to staff to embark on research and explore new areas, such institution is on the verge of development. The output of Dr. Olatunji's transformation agenda has granted a TEFFund honour to a staff as the Polytechnic Staff's PhD thesis was ranked among the best research conducted by scholars in Nigeria and was approved to be converted to textbook for use in tertiary institutions across the nation.

How many of Adepele's multiple and interlocked teeth could be counted. Obviously and without mincing words, the Polytechnic's relative peace, growth and development lies on the maverick and assiduous Rector with the support of other Principal Officers, Management staff, Staff Unions, Students, and the community at large.

Best Rector award, a well deserved one was conferred on Dr. Olatunji on two different occasions as his transformation agenda still lives on.

Fedpoffa Staff Drill Borehole For Community In Memory Of The Late Rector Olatinwo



Staff of the Federal Polytechnic Offa that joined the services of the institution during the tenure of the immediate past substantive Rector, late Dr. Mufutau Olatunde Olatinwo have drilled a standard borehole in memory of the late Rector.

These selected staff and others who keyed into the initiative; magnanimously contributed money towards channeling a drinkable borehole water at Oke-Agun area of the Offa town. The project was completed and handed over to the community leaders recently.

While speaking at the hand-over ceremony, one of the initiators of this laudable feat explained how the idea was conceived around July, last year and mobilization of other staffers commenced. He added that some other senior staff of the Polytechnic were impressed with the initiative and decided to be part of project.

The Chief Imam of the Polytechnic, Imam Waheed Adeyemi Alata acknowledged and commended the facilitators for thinking out of the box to honor the late Rector with such befitting project that will also benefit the community.

He emphasized on the fact that the project was borne out of good legacy of the former Rector during his life time and urged others to lead a good legacy.

In his words, “As long as people fetch this water, it is as if the late Rector, Dr. Olatinwo is the one giving the water to the community and he will continue to earn the reward. This is actually the reward of his good deeds when he was alive."

"According to Islamic juncture, the position of late Dr. Olatinwo has been revealed with this kind of good tidings commissioned to favour the mankind. May his soul continue to Rest In Peace. I hope we will all take a cue from this and try to live well and impact lives while we are yet here."

Also speaking, the Head of Building Technology Department, Pastor Shittu described the late Dr. Olatinwo as God’s messenger who had come to deliver what his Creator sent him before his death. He congratulated the facilitators for making efforts to immortalise the “good man” and also prayed for his soul to continue to rest in the Lord.

Responding, wife of the late former Rector, Hajia Muslimat Olatinwo on behalf of the family thanked the community for embracing the project and also appreciated the facilitators for counting late Dr. Olatinwo worthy of such honour.

While the community leader, Alhaji Raheemina on behalf of Oke-agun community thanked the Polytechnic staff for counting the community worthy of such project. He stressed further that drinkable water is one of the major challenges facing the community and the whole community will forever be grateful to the facilitators for solving water problem for the community.

He further prayed for the the soul of Dr. Olatinwo to continue to rest in peace.

Fedpoly Offa Rector, Other Principal Officers Take Covid-19 Vaccines




Recalled that the Kwara State Government on Tuesday, 9th of March, 2021 received its consignment of the Covid-19 Oxford AstraZenecca Vaccines from the Federal Government.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji led other staff to take the Covid-19 vaccine today Tuesday 23rd, March 2021 at the Polytechnic clinic, Main Campus.

The vaccination exercise commenced around 9:am as other staff of the Polytechnic took their turn to get vaccinated from Offa Local Government Health Team.

The Team Leader, Director of Primary Health Care, Offa Local Government, Alhaja S.E Lawal said the vaccine is good, has no side effect and will serve as a preventive measure against Coronavirus. She encouraged staff and the publics to take vaccine.


In her words, " Apart from this Polytechnic, Olofa's Palace, Navy School and Hospitals have been visited for the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccine is good and people should get vaccinated for their own benefits.

After taking the vaccine, the Rector, Dr. Olatunji and Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi said they feel comfortable and their body system is stable. They further enjoined staff of the Polytechnic to embrace the vaccination as preventive measure against the novel virus.

Other Management staff that were vaccinated were Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi, Deputy Rector Academics, Arc, TPL. Augustine Adama, the Registrar, Mr. Adetunji Oni, the Bursar, Mr. Amidu Azeez, the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Rasaq Quadir, Director of Works and Services, Engr. The Hijab And Needless Crisis In Kwara

Recently, Kwara State with harmony emblem has been diluted with series of crisis. A peaceful and serene atmosphere has metamorphosed to a state of phobia and restlessness. Although, crisis is inevitable in a secular setting with people of different character and orientation but the need to quench the burning rages of such crisis should remain paramount and non negotiable.



To me, the recent drama in Kwara State capital is needless but the intolerance and misconception have metamorphosed to a very silly and disgusting religion kerfuffle between the Christians and Muslims. The use of Hijab in schools with missionary nomenclature has been tagged aberrant because hijab is perceived as symbol of Islamic religion which should not be embraced in schools with missionary background. This gesture by Christian leaders in the state has put our unity and togetherness into question. If a school girl can not freely put on hijab in a Baptist school, the mantra of serving one God together has been indicted. Apologies!

I stand to be corrected, Kwara State is a Muslim dominated state and I want to guess right that the number of Muslim students in these missionary schools are more than the Christians, hence, the fear of dominance with the use of Hijab by Muslims might have triggered the rejection. Of course, nothing is wrong in wearing hijab to school but the Christian leaders see it as abomination in these schools because of the fear of domination and superiority. In Nigeria, religion doesn't matter when it comes to looting and stealing public funds but it matters when we want to strangle peace.



In as much as I will like to fault the level of intolerance of the Christian leaders for rejecting Hijab in missionary schools, I will also impute heavily, the Muslim parents who are fuelling the crisis. I see many of these Muslim parents as hypocrites and not true believers because many out of these parents don't compel their children to wear Hijab at home. I'm a Muslim and I know that Muslim fanatics will never send their children to Baptist schools. Many of these parents that can not afford Islamic private schools will prefer public schools with Muslim nomenclature like An-Sarudeen, Nawa-Rudeen, Anwarul-l-Islam, or schools with neutral nomenclature like Government Day School, or community titled schools. Muslim parents that send their daughters to St, Cyprian, Catholic, Baptist are free Muslims that doesn't care about religion discrimination. They are much more aware that their daughters will put on cap/beret and reserve hijab for prayer time. Muslim parents that always enforce hijab on their daughters at home and school will not enroll them in any of the missionary schools.



For instance, I attended St, James Primary School and Baptist High School. When I was in primary school, during morning devotion, a Muslim teacher will pray and the same thing applicable to a Christian teacher. Our songs in those days were mixture of both Muslim and Christian stanzas; the lyrics still ring bell in my memory. During my days in Baptist High School, our female colleagues would always put on their cap/beret as part of school uniform which also cover their hair and they always put on their hijab whenever it is time for mosque. In Baptist High School, we had 'Malim' who was in charge of Islamic Religion Knowledge (IRK). Malim looks into the affairs of Muslim students, we also had Amir/Imam for Muslim students and we do observe Jumat prayer without any hindrance. It has always been like that till date without crisis. Hijab is part of school uniform in An-Sarudeen schools and cap/beret is part of school uniform in Baptist schools. The students should dress according to the formation of their school uniform. A Muslim student that cannot wear cap/beret in Baptist should go to An-Sarudeen and Christian student that cannot wear hijab in An-Sarudeen should go to Baptist. It does not call for crisis.



In Kwara case, I think the only thing that should lead to crisis is when students are banned from going to mosque or practice their religion or when they are enforced to embrace something that is not in the doctrine of their religion. Anything less is a misplaced priority and needless.



Religion is a sensitive matter than can tear a state apart and degenerate into a serious war. For the fact that different states had similar issue does not warrant same approach. An approach that worked for Osun, Ogun, Lagos may not work for Kwara. The need for dissection and critical examination of issues is required before taking decision. At this juncture, a good public relations is required for crisis management. Kwara is in need one.



To the Muslims and Christians, we serve one God and the God we serve loves peace, tolerance, love and unity. Allahu Akbar, In Jesus Name, let's embrace one another for peace to reign.

OPINION: Sowore and The Herbalist

The usual drama took another dimension when former presidential candidate, revolution now convener, Omoyele Sowore stormed the Abuja Magistrate Court in the company of herbalist on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.



Initially, I don't really see a big deal in what I described as a dramatic display of Mr. Sowore to drag Nigerians to the court of public opinion. On the other hand, I was wondering why such bizarre adventure could be staged by the so called activist who wants a sane system of government.



Of course, Sowore's attitude has pointed to the fact that his caliber will only stir controversy if given an opportunity to occupy any elective position. Being a traditionalist is not the premise of argument here but employing a traditionalist as an escort to the court does not define a real revolutionist but an actor.



The former presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections was arrested by the police for leading a protest against bad governance on New Year's eve in Abuja. Sowore's arrest because of protest is not only an injustice but impunity. Nigerians en mass utterly displayed disapproval to the highest level of autocratic leadership style of President's Buhari. Arresting peaceful protesters and negotiating with armed bandits is a big shame. It shows the horrible state of democratic dispensation under the leadership of Sai BaBa. Describing Nigeria as an abattoir is becoming an understatement as bloody headlines scream aloud on the pages of newspapers, online media and radio/tv channels. Kidnapping has become a lucrative business that sells faster than oil. From the left, right and center, nowhere seems to be secured. Everywhere is a danger zone, Nigerians live in fear.



Omoyele Sowore has been arrested many times, prosecuted and maltreated for rising against the outrageous, rapacious revelation of many woe betiding the country. In as much as I will like to empathize him for the tortures and brutality so far, his voice against the poor governance in Nigeria is derailing from activism. I will rather see him as one who prefers to catch cruise to make screaming headlines. As a matter of fact, you can not combine politics and activism together in Nigeria. A combination of the two will end up in dramatic display. If not for drama sake, what is the point of taking herbalist to the court, to skip judgment or to gain soft landing? Whatever reason that might have triggered such action, Sowore has presented himself as a performing actor rather than an activist.



Sowore needs to understand that demanding for good governance as the basis of revolution now crusade is not all about these action movies. If he enjoys being the subject of public opinion as a result of his actions, his stand as an activist will be replaced as mere attention seeker. If the herbalist or native doctor had been used for security purpose, I will accept it as a symbol of a failed nation. The wobbled security status of the country requires herbalist's attention.
