Nobody will roll out drum to celebrate flyover. TELL GOVERNMENT TO DUALISE THE ROAD. Only then shall we celebrate. |
Education › Re: Have You Ever Made Use Of This Since You Graduated? by Usonkwu: 10:47pm On Apr 04 |
U09ce: Lol. You don't have to make use of everything you learn. Infact, it's impossible. If I remember, this method is one of the methods for solving quadratic equations. At least it has taught you some problem-solving skills i.e there are a thousand ways to bell a cat. So, when you encounter problem in life, don't necessarily stick to one solution, you're free to alternate.
On a more serious note, we tend to underrate the power of mathematics. Though I partially heap the blame on the way we were taught. Mathematics is actually the language of nature. You'd be amazed to see applications of mathematics in disciplines you've thought of. For example, do you know that mathematics is used to model the spread of epidemic like Corona virus? How it spreads and where it goes? Mathematics is the backbone of science. Do encourage/help your kids to learn it the practical way. Instead of just doing Area=length x breadth, get a tape and give them to measure a room and tell you the area. Then, show them how you can use that area to calculate the number of tiles that can fit the space. They'd never forget the concept.
Maths is beautiful I logged in to like your comment, especially the second paragraph. |

I love the Igbo culture on this. Any child born under a man's house is his child. Period. It separates the child from whatever guilt associated with his birth. Other cultures(especially Yoruba) should learn this. |

lacasera14: My own concern is where did this praying to and reverence to Mary emerge from? They say they don't worship her but too much reference to her can be termed as worship too. They mention her everyday and in every prayer. That's akin to worship and she's become their god. The version of Christianity called Catholicism scares me. If it was the version I was introduced into I won't be a Christian. I don't even want to talk about how stressful it is standing kneeling reciting rhymes like kindergarten. Omo.... You should try it. It works! I try not to ask Mother Mary for mundane things any more, so as not to trivialize my reverence. By the way, yes, I pray TO Mary to pray for me. She's not ordinary human. She was conceived IMMACULATE. Her body ASSUMED into heaven. She's still in that dazed sleep that was her 'death'. Her prayers work because, like Jesus, she knows human mundane status, even more, as a 'sub-human' - a WOMAN! |
