Have you done something to the wall(height of the fence. Could be a major determinant because of ventilation and associated respiratory disease.
as suggested earlier you may consider deep litres or think of giving them Embaceryl or Neoceryl at least Thrice every week. This will however increase your cost of production but will definitely increase their production.

There is enough ventilation, usually the place is very very airy.

Good morning all, please this is the second month my birds of 500 though 480 now started laying and they were doing about 50% production. Now they re doing about 45%. Please what could be the problem. The major production is more of pulled eggs. Please someone advice cause we have gone bankrupt feeding birds.

kindly stop giving vitamins

I didn't give vitamins, I got the birds from animalcare and following their procedure, we noticed this when they try to lay. We are scheduled to give them Lasota tomorrow.

The birds are doing perfectly well at over 20% pdtn by 21 weeks. They will reach peak pdtn in the next couple of weeks.
The cost of eggs differs base on location and the buyers.
in my area. small size eggs ranged from #500-#550 this period.
large eggs are sold for N650,
Thanks so much I appreciate.
Agriculture / Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by utchlady: 5:48pm On Jun 14, 2015

Madam, this isn't an ideal poultry house as this will cause poor ventilation, you don't even build on a wall-apologies,ma.
My Advise: reduce the coaches as previously advised and based on experience, methinks your birds would be better off on deep litter than in cages with this type of construction. Also, plan to install at least ceiling fans and iced blocks to combat excessive temperature.
Concerning point of lay and D.O.C source, you may consider the big names in the industry as they have a name to protect but please ensure you do flock profiling of the birds at a good laboratory.
Many thanks and best wishes.

Thanks a lot, actually working on reducing the cooaches by 2. Are you in Lagos?

you are doing well. please reduce the height of the block. you need to increase the air movement in your pen since the fence is already part of the pen.

also if you are going for a long term business, i will advice you to start with DOC. but if you need qucik cash and you have the money go for POL but ENSURE i say ENSURE you buy from a reputable farm.

success

Thanks a lot and any advise on where i can source for either of the two?

its beta to start with POL cos it is less risky and less stressful, but make sure u get dem frm a reliable farm. I suggest HOPE farm in IB.

i tot we were advised on this forum not to use fence as part of poultry house as it wil prevent cross ventillation? also i think ur blocks are already higher than where it should be.

I actually memtioned my worries about the blocks being high but the floor will be filled which will now bring it up. Because of parking space we had to join it to the fence and also the wind there is usually high.

What specifically do you desire from this "consultant"?

I. i want to build a poultry house and it is on my father-inlaws land but he wants a relative of theirs to build it and the man has give me a quotation of about 392 thousand (mason labour 60k, capentry labour 45k) it seems outrageous. he says it will take 500 birds (the relative)

2. I don't know whether to use a deep litter or cage system.

3. I want the person to start with me from day one cos this is a hard earned money and i dont want it to wate o.

Biafran Soul, Sorry ooo I never said that I am a farmer, go back to all my post, i said that I ran a research and I shared my result with some people here. I come here to learn so that when I am ready to start my own farm I would have learn and know where to go to in order to get what I need. This tread is full of great people giving great ideas.

This is not a tread where you attack each other. I have not tried to sell you anything or to take anything from you, lets show respect to each other as we all try to learn from one another.

But you once said you got your on formula which is virus shield and you gave it to your birds (in water) and they didn't die., haba

Take time and go through the tread again, someone have already given that breakdown. From my research the breakdown that I used to feed my birds from day old to get them to between 2.5kg to some of them at 3.5kg within 7-8 weeks was N313.60/bird. with this info, you can multiply it by the number of birds you want to raise. The advantage though that I had was that I discovered a solution that I call Virushiled. that was what I used in place of any medication. At day old, I put a few drops in their mouth, and I repeat that again two more time within their first week. And I have a mixture of the solution in the water they drink through out the 7 weeks.
My result was that I had zero mortality, the birds grow fast because there wasn't any bacteria, or any virus in their system to stall their grow and course them to eat more. No any chemical in their system through the water they drink that can also have adverse effect on their growth and development. No medication or hormone that can affect the taste of the bird. What I had at the end of 7 weeks was some of the birds weighing about 3kg and 3.5kg, taste like free range birds and no fat. The bone of the birds were a lot stronger than the typical poultry bird. I give one to a franchisee of Mr. Bigs, she ate it call call me back and said that "she has not eaten any chicken like this before"

So, if you ad the cost of medication, it might cost you a little more than N313.60/bird, shouldn't be a whole lot though. So the breakdown for me was that to get a bird to about 2.5kg, the bird will need about 4kg of food. With this info, you can work out the cost of the bag of feed in your area and the number of birds you want to raise.

Good luck.

Kai!!! Me sef I don confirm say this na decanta!! Probably she's looking towards a clean start...hehehe!

Hi, please i have never contributed to this thread (though i sneakingly tried to get into 1111 work) I followed almost all of Decanta's thread. One thing is if she has changed her username or she came in with another name please thumbs up to her. This means that she probably realized that she didn't do well and needs a clean slate please let her be and we hope from now onward she will maintain a different type of input compared to the other.
@Decanta if it is you don't be bothered just learn to respect people her and i am sure there are people who are older than most of us here and just because we all follow this thread does not give us room to mess it up. Cheers girl
