When he was in AD, he pulled out of the party in 2007 with majority of the heavyweights in the party to form AC, and later upgraded AC to ACN in 2011.

Then in 2013, he led a marger PACT with of his ACN, Buhari's led CPC, Okorocha's faction of APGA, Atiku led N-PDP, and ANPP; all to form APC. What Tinubu did was a gradual build up to form the massive APC of today.

As it stands, Yayi remains the most formidable candidate from Yewa, more politically influential than both Gboyega Isiaka and Adekunle Akinlade in Yewa. Dapo Abiodun was the recipient of Yayi's endorsement in 2019. Dapo Abiodun rode on Yayi's political bloc. Also, with Tinubu's influence, Yayi's candidacy is sure.
