thebigkendo: Interestingly..and i was here thinking only Hondas have power steering problems
Cc Futo Once the seals within the rack fail the steering rack of any car will fail. if the steering rack boot of any car is compromised, it's just a matter of time before the seals within are compromised and start leaking. So it is not car specific. |

obekediamondfuto: sorry oh oga, the rack started leaking before the accident that was the reason we were referred to that thread to learn how the PS leak made the owner bash his car The steering rack was rebuilt and installed before the accident! The steering rack was not in any way affected by the accident! thebigkendo: What car was this? I posted the link in response to this question |

So my steering rack started leaking and got worse over time, I had to be topping up the power steering fluid every other week. Searched online for a new rack and the cost of shipping it in was not encouraging so I bought a replacement "Tokunbo" in ladipo and mechanic installed it, after 2 weeks it started leaking again took it to the seller and it was replaced with another "Tokunbo" with guarantee had it installed. Now I have paid twice for labour. Went online and procured the rebuild kit from ebay and it arrived 15 days later. so I dismantled the original rack that came with the car to replace the o-ring, seals and "borris". I could not remove one of the borris so I took it to a mechanics workshop for them to use their tools to remove it, and the chief mechanic told me that it's better to replace the whole rack than rebuild and that they can't remove it (they actually tried to remove it in my presence). Took it back home and went to YouTube and finally got the borris removed. Then I cleaned and replace everything that was in the kit and coupled back the rack. 3 weeks exactly after rebuilding the steering rack, the rack in the car started leaking! So the second Tokunbo rack lasted for roughly 2 months! So I reinstalled the original rebuilt steering rack! And 3 years down the line the it has not leaked.
To me rebuild is better than replace, but our mechanics don't follow due process as their work area is always dirty, sand and other parts are reintroduced into the rebuilt part which contributes to their early failure. |

EgunMogaji: Here’s is the Achilles heels to your eloquent argument.
Is he going to cast the steps eventually? if he installs a "mallam step" both will be casted on the same day
As a client I’m saving money on materials = wood. you loose time and the contractor money
As a contractor I’m adding to my bottom line = efficiency. No rework. rework is as a result of poor workmanship or supervision
Emphasis on the project to me is a well built structure. A timely built structure that wastes resources is not ideal. time, quality and cost
A good contractor should be able to frame and pour a flight of stairs in a day. With the right concrete mixture and support it is ready for use immediately so zero you will have to use a more expensive cement = more money, even at that not advisable to start walking up and down with loads of concrete. It will stress the concrete and you don't want that on a structural member time loss.
I’m still keeping an open mind to garner knowledge. |

EgunMogaji: I actually salute him for not doing this. This is part of wastefulness that’s rampant in Nigerian builds as I discussed with AbdulWastecx a few weeks ago. Time and cost on a scale. The mallam step though additional cost will save him 2days plus, considering he has a time constraint of 30day. Also he will pay more in terms of Labour to cast the upper floor in two days, whereas they could be done in a day. In the long run what you think you are saving by not using a "mallam step" for a project of this nature, you loose in time. Let's do the maths 1. Cost of mallam step: materials and Labour = 22k 2. Cost of not using a mallam step - Labour to cast steps only = 10k + cost of additional 2day staying in an hotel and feeding and logistics= over 22k Emphasis on this project considering the variables |

Your question is not clear. Are they both within a parapet wall? Where are they both draining into? Same direction or different? Is one on top the other? A sketch of a section through both proposed will be better.
There is no minimum or maximum height difference. Most important is the functionality of the roof; must slope enough to discharge rain water (steep or gentle) and must not retain water, the aesthetic design desired can be achieved so long as it's functionality is not compromised. Nothing is impossible! |
