Hello people!

Please I just want to be guided. I'm about to place an order which is to be shipped to Shoptomydoor UK warehouse. A set of luggage boxes which costs 25000 and weighs 17kg but when I did shipping estimate on Shoptomydoor, it's 63,000 naira. Please is there something wrong with it or that's how high their shipping rate is. Because of this reason, I've not placed my order. I will appreciate any advice. Thank you
That's the shipping rate. Better look for an alternative in naija

That's where you should be looking.

Search for the wire connecting the oil switch (single strand) and see if it's out of place. That oil switch is really rugged but we'll it's prone to failure so any thing can happen.
Thanks

Good suggestion.

You can use a OHMS meter to test BUT if it were MY car I would ground the wire to see if the light comes on. This will tell me if the circuit is okay and the switch is bad.

Good luck.
Thanks. I have d meter will try it out

I need the help of gurus in the house.

The oil indicator lamp on my instrument cluster does not come on at all. When the key is in the on position with the engine off, its supposed to come on for a few seconds but it doesn't.

I have interchanged the bulbs and it still won't work so the problem is not with the bulb.
What other troubleshooting can I carry out, or what do I need to change.

Car is 1998 Camry v6, with 1mz-fe.

Cc. Sienna, gazzuzz, etc

Thanks,
What about internal doors? Do we use the same type of doors or just stick to locally made wooden doors?
Use the same type but it should be wooden
PropertiesRe: I need the current prices for windows+doors in Lagos pls. by uwemjack(m): 3:24pm On Oct 14, 2015
Price range for external steel doors 3ft is btw 15 to 70k it applies also to wooden doors.
For the 4ft doors it ranges from 40k to 120k.

For windows just have an Aluminium man measure and give u a quote easiest for you. But the rate per square meter is between 5k to 20k.

I hope it's helpful

So I have carried out the following diy on my car - 1998 Toyota Camry, 1mz-fe 3.0l.
1. Replaced rear left hand side ABS sensor - 'Kazeem' spoiled the original one while replacing the rear shock absorber..
2. Replaced both front and rear stabilizer linkage bushing
3. Replaced valve cover gasket and sparkplug seals
4. Replaced front and rear break pads.
5. Drained and replaced engine oil, replaced engine oil filter
5. Replaced air filter
6. Replaced timing belt, alternator belt and Power steering pump belt.
7. Replaced broken traficating light front
8. Installed aftermarket foglights.
9. Replaced spark plugs
10. Replaced ignition coil wires
11. Replaced broken ignition coil connector
12. Replaced ignition coil
13. Replaced stock dashboard lights with red led lights to match radio lights
14. Replaced stock radio and CD player with aftermarket
15. Replaced rear indicator light bulbs
16. Replaced headlight bulbs
17. Installed after market keyless entry system
18. Sanded and washed headlamps
19. Sprayed the front bumber

Outstanding diy
1. Install water pump, camshaft seals, idler pulleys and tensioner. Could not loose the rear camshaft bolt when I changed the timing belt, so am waiting to get the camshaft holding tool.
2. Replace valve seals - my engine smokes at start up.
3. Replace front passenger external door handle

That's about it

I am very very disappointed at your service. I made payment to ship via sea 'order 67538' but after four weeks I was told that my parcel has not yet shipped for whatever reason. I asked if I could change the shipment method as I realised you won't be able to deliver on time, a new invoice was generated to ship via air and sent to me which I paid immediately on the 5th of Sept 'labelled as 71150'. Today is 29th and I still haven't seen my percel. Over three weeks now and a parcel paid for to be shipped via air is still on the way.

Again I am very dissapointed, you have made me loose face with my client. I demand refund for the additional payment i made for air shipment.

Guy! Type full words instead of abbreviations, is that too difficult to do? Not everyone understands them or will waste time trying to decode what you mean, especially those who can give you solutions.

So what is the industry standard?

Value of what service?

I used the word artisan in general and I stand by it. No worries though because even a 2 stroke engine repair person considers himself an engineer in Nigeria.
What is your worth per hour? How do u value your service?

Someone's hourly rate may be $500 and another may be $50. Thats their value and they will charge you accordingly. You always have choices.

Architects are not artisans! You can't call architect and artisan in the same breadth and say your generalising.

By the way I'm not an architect just so u know.

So y are the architects on nairaland quoting 400 -600k for semi detached duplexes?are people really paying that much?
How much do you think it will cost you to build a standard semidetached duplex? Lowest all things being equal and if you are the engineer will be 25m.

Paying 400 - 600k for a professional work is not too much, although you can get a lower quote.
PropertiesRe: Architects Fees, How Much Did You Pay? by uwemjack(m):
EgunMogaji:
We are coming of age in Nigeria in terms of using the web to level the playing field.

There are numerous Architects/Designers/Drafters on Nairaland, we need to harness and leverage our buying power as consumers to compel ALL artisans to be dedicated and reasonable in their pricing.

Some nut job Architect in Ibadan quoted me N2.5 million too for a bungalow.

In my case I've already drawn what I wanted and I know exactly what I want and just need someone to Nigerianize it for approval. It's not that complicated to draw a house (bungalow at least) to be built with blocks.

Plans litter the internet and Fiverr is littered with Architects that can draw plans from $5 to $80

Edit: I also wanted to add that the onus is also on the consumer to shop around to ascertain market rate, just like I'm doing. Look before you leap.
Architects are not artisans!
There are industry standards in terms of fees and the level of involvement required.

Normally the fees you pay industry wide is usually a percentage of the cost of construction for a standard project based on the scale of professional fees, which is in the public domain.

However, based on relationship, level of experience or level of desperation you can get lower negotiated fees as low as 20k especially from undergraduate, new graduates searching for job, dropouts etc.

I should also mention that some will overcharge you if the they think they can get away with it.

Bottomline, if you have the money engage registered professionals with physical offices - Architects, Engineers, surveyors etc negotiate fees not higher than scale of fees recommendation. If you don't have the money or you just want a draft - new graduate, undergraduate or young graduate will be a better alternative.

Basically the charge you get will be the value he or she puts on their service.

what is the value of your service?

Remember there are quacks out there.

2.5m to design a bungalow is outrageous

Car TalkRe: Ever Had This Experience, Guys? by uwemjack(m): 8:47pm On Apr 07, 2015
It happened to me oh!
My tank was a little below the quarter mark so I told the attendant to fill up my tank he sold up to 1100 worth of fuel and told me that the pump stopped by itself but that I should look at the amount sold, I saw the amount before he cleared and started selling again he sold up to 4700 and said it was full! So the total I was supposed to pay was 5800. I asked him to look at my fuel gauge which will only start moving after I start the car, I then calmly brought out the receipts of previous purchases, normally if my guage enters red 5700 will fill my tank. I then calmly asked him to explain what could have gone wrong and he was saying jargons!
So I gave him 5k and demanded for my change he gave me my change and I drove off.

I know the litres of fuel required to fill my tank at each guage level so I normally act unconcerned cos I like to catch them at their game.

Some attendants will chat u up just to distract

sultaan:
You know the main problem with soy on older cars is that you keep finding things that need to be replaced.
Whether on new or old cars, your break parts wear off as they are designed to wear off, and you Must change them if you value your life angry

Having said that tongue, as a car gets older its parts also gets older and performance will reduce, to take it close to its new state you perform regular maintenance which in most case involves replacement.
So if you don't want to replace any part of your new car, sell it after 3 years cool
