Evening sir, my wife is a registered nurse here in Nigeria,. She has done ielts academic with 7.0 in three module and 6.5 in one module. Pls can she use the ielts for this caregivers route. Thanks .
Hello Johnsurvive, that's a wonderful result.cheesy
Yes, she can use it for the SW or HACW visa only if it's IELTS for UKVI, not the regular IELTS. Or she can register with the UK NMC as a full nurse. Good luck.

Not sure there is much to say since I’m already here as a dependant.

Okay so the plan was to get post study visa (£2000 each) after my wife’s masters and then hopefully she gets a tier 2 job and if unfortunately she doesn’t then I will have to switch to do my own masters so we can extend our stay in the country.

Then the uk government announced the new carer visa (6145) and I decided to give it a try. Thanks to nairaland, I used the “uktiersponsors” website to search and filter out care homes and domiciliary care agencies that just got their sponsorship license and I was able to land several interviews because I was already working in the sector as a support worker. Las las I landed two job offers and I picked this one that I currently work with. I have been working here for over a month now, first salary don drop sef. Didn’t have to wait for visa to come out since I’m in the country already.

Interview Date: 17/03/2022
Offer Letter: 04/04/2022
CoS Assigned: 13/04/2022
Visa Application: 14/04/2022
Biometric: 09/05/2022
Visa Decision: 30/05/2022

It’s a 3 years CoS, though my offer letter says it’s a 5 year contract. I used Ecctis as English language requirement and my employer ticked the maintenance section.
Beautiful. Congratulations to you once again.cheesy

I find myself in a funny situation.
I got an IT-related offer in which the employer(NHS) insist on getting a Naric Evaluation to prove my Bsc is the same as that of the Uk. The HR explains that they need this to be done before they can issue a COS. Where I have a challenge is that there is industrial action at naija my uni and it would take a long time to get proficiency in English letter through the back door. As an alternative, I have PTE Academics UKVI, so all I require is the evaluation of my BSC alone. I tried initiating a Visas and Nationality (English proficiency) on Naric, with the mindset that the Bsc would be evaluated alone, but they keep asking for the proficiency in English letter.

Please, do anyone have experience evaluating education(B.Sc) alone while using IELTS or PTE UKVI for English proficiency, I really can't afford to b waiting for proficiency in English letter from uni as I cant attach a timeline to this process.
Hello Ponmbe, congratulations on your job offer.cheesy
Since you say you already have PTE Academic UKVI, if all you need at this time is to only show equivalence of your Nigerian bachelor's degree to that obtained in the UK, without English language proficiency, then what you should go for is Enic Statement of Comparability. For this, you only need to upload your final certificate and transcript.
Their website says: "Statement Of Comparability: A general purpose statement of qualification comparability. This service is for you if you need to evidence the level of your overseas qualification for employment, study, professional registration or another reason."
Link: https://enic.org.uk/Qualifications/SOC/Default.aspx
You can also message them to enquire further when you register via the link.

PS Please don't forget to keep us updated on your progress. Good luck!

Hello.. guys. My sister owns a company in the UK and she’s willing to give me full sponsorship for a care worker job which is now open for low skilled workers but the problem is I was denied a US and Canada visa 4 and 3 years ago respectively. The canada visa I was scammed and the agent applied a litany of fake documents. I don’t know if I have a ban or not but the case is at police but suspect disappeared. I know this isn’t necessary for application but just want to make the reasons clear. Should I even bother applying with such a messy record?. This time around everything is legit and genuine.
Hello PhylisUG all the way from Uganda, you're welcome.cheesy If you're able to get a job with a CoS, please proceed and apply for your SW or HACW visa, but this time by yourself and with genuine documents. Ensure you get your Police Clearance Certificate (or certificates, if you've lived in more than one country for the UKVI specified period of time).
Should there be any query regarding your Canadian visa ban, ensure you're able to prove to them that you were scammed by a travel agent (if you're sure you weren't complicit in any way), and back up your claims with police documents or court affidavits (since you say the police are handling the matter).
I wish you the best of luck.

PS: Don't forget to share with us the outcome.

Hello all happy weekend good I came across this thread,am a student in the UK(Bsc) Came last year and I got an offer of employment with Cos, I want to ask please is ielts compulsory for me? because my employer hasn't mentioned such to me yet.
Hello Mrak2Agho, you're welcome.cheesy
Since you say you're a student, meaning you've not yet completed and obtained your UK degree qualification, which ordinarily would be sufficient as a proof of English language proficiency for your SW or HACW visa application, I think you may need either IELTS for 'UKVI' (except if you sat it when you were applying for a Student visa) or Ecctis evaluation (only if you already have a non-UK degree).
However, you can make further enquiries from your current UK university and find out if there's any official document that can be issued by the school authority to you that can be accepted by UKVI for English language proficiency purposes. You can also enquire from your employer, or wait to see if they'll request it.

If you didn't do IELTS UKVI then it's probably IELTS Standard you have.

NOTE: If you meant "Academic" up there then it's certainly IELTS UKVI you already have.
Actually, standard IELTS has both Academic and General tests. Similarly, IELTS for 'UKVI' also has both Academic and General tests.cheesy

I have gone through the thread on page one, i have a quick question.
Must my job be on the shortage list to be able to apply for the health visa. my profession (dentist) is not on the shortage list but its on the skilled worker list eligible for the visa.
kindly advise.
Hello Collins4u1, job eligibility for HACW visa is not restricted to the shortage occupations list alone. Once your job/role ONS code is on the list of jobs eligible for either HACW visa or SW visa, you can apply for it. The only challenge might be whether the salary your employer is willing to offer you for your job meets the minimum salary threshold criterion. Cheers.cheesy

Hmm... angry Quite an enormous number of requirements! cheesy Congratulations to you.cheesy
Was it NHS Scotland or an NHS Trust that offers an additional 'high cost area supplementation'? I'm asking because most other NHS Trusts, aside from the ones mentioned, typically offer £20,330 for Band 3 roles, which falls short of the UKVI £20,480 salary threshold requirement for HACW visa.

Not sure I replied this earlier.
I filled an online form for the COS application, filled another one for DBS check (police check in UK), submitted copies of my degree certificate and passport (myself and dependents). I processed UTAS (those involved in research, ECCTIS/NARIC (English language certification) and sent them all to employer. Subsequently, COS was issued.
Goodluck

The challenge I have is feeling my course form. My school has asked me to do it myself. Even my transcript doesn't have that much details.
OK. You can get all your course details from the course handbook given to you by your department in your first year, depending on your school.
Alternatively, if you still have your lecture notebooks, you can also get the course outline/content for each of the courses you studied from first to final year.
For course hours, two credit units = 20 hours, three credit units = 30 hours and so on.
If you still have any difficulty, do let me know.

Wawu. You sure of this? because God knows I am tired of writing this exam.

As regards my MSc, it was from the university of Valencia Spain. I don't know if i can use an English proficiency letter for it, seeing Spain is not an English speaking country however, I was taught in English.

Is it possible to use only Bachelors for HCPC registration? plus i have over 5 years work experience with international training. I dont know if that counts

Thank you.
My dear, HCPC registration is something you do with all carefulness to observe all the numerous rules, cos mistake of any kind would lead to months of delays in processing.
Having said that, bachelor's or master's or PhD - it doesn't affect your registration status. Whichever you choose to use, provided it is the relevant university degree course for the profession you're registering for, is good.
Having more years of experience is always something great. However, for HCPC registration, there are no special levels or statuses; so a minimum of one year's relevant professional experience is all that's required to be licensed.
I hope you're also aware that documents can now be uploaded online instead of paper submission via courier.cheesy Now, I know you're elated!wink Just go to the first post on this thread, towards the end of it, you'll find the official HCPC link I provided there sometime ago.

For any endeavour in life, it's always safer to take the time to research and read up all latest information regarding that, from the official website or source, before even starting the process, cos information is dynamic.cheesy

I also need it for hcpc registration.
Hello Zeb04, I hope you're aware that you mustn't use IELTS report for HCPC registration.
If you schooled in an Anglophone country, such as Nigeria, and your university degree was taught in English, and you speak it fluently, you can get an English Proficiency Letter/Medium of Instruction (signed & stamped) from your university's admin office or from your dept and use it for your HCPC registration. Hello NL, I watched a recruiter called sofia on YouTube channel where she was asked why did some applications failed to be approved or selected for interview.
One of the reasons she gave was most people are over qualified for the assistant jobs that most of them will go to UK and start pursuing their dream job instead of the assistant job. In view of this most application will b turned down couple with other points she made.
I think it's an eye opener to some that has not submitted their application. Good luck

This is false. The immigration skills charge is £364 for small sponsors. £364*3 years=£1,092. According to UKGOV the employer is meant to make that payment.

There is a difference between Health Surcharge and Immigration skill charge.
As a care worker, you are exempted from the Health Surcharge when applying for Visa.

Akanniaelde, your salary is good. If I were you, I'd go ahead and accept the deal if they insist that you must refund them.

Send mail directly to the company official email. What I mean is attach your resume and paste your well written cover letter as the body of your email. I was able to land 2 interviews using this format. I use the tier 2 link and searched care homes, go to their website and copy their email address. Some have vacancies, I also apply and still send mail to them
Meanwhile I will say that I’m a customer to almost all the known job site. I put I. More than 10 applications per day and funny enough when I wake up I will get like 4 or 5 we are sorry but I was determined.

Been trying to settle… been fun and kinda tedious…lol

I am an EU trained Pharmacist so that reduced the license brouhaha.

Got the job through LinkedIn
Did interview Mid January got Job confirmation email following day and got CoS 3days after
Dependent and I applied for police report from previous countries we lived thru their embassies
Got naija police report and did TB test
We both submitted our visa application same day but passport was returned a week interval

For license it was straight forward, just download and submitted application form via email and paid 398 pounds, got a letter from naija pharmacists council (thou they delayed for almost 3months before finally sending via email) another from country of study and no IELTS was required, only used NARIC for Visa application

The job is in Belfast, you see vacancies at every care home you pass thru here… yet to fully settle would have made some inquiries… peps can try searching care homes in Belfast, Carrickfegus, Newry, Newtownabbey, whitehead and the likes.
Great! Your timeline is now complete.cheesy
Thanks for sharing tips about vacancies in Northern Ireland. All the best in your career.cheesy

Hello Everyone, my visa is out!! Thank you God and thanks to all who responded to my questions.
Timeline:
Job offer: November 2021, senior care worker
Cos: February 2022
Biometrics: 23 March 2022
Collected passport today.

I have been a silent reader for some time now and I can see that it is not very easy getting a job. I want to share my experience and I hope it can be of help.

I reside in Nigeria and I got this job through networking, basically through a family member in the UK. I do not have a health degree or certification. I was introduced to my employer and one key thing he asked me was if I could drive and I said yes. He basically wanted to know if I genuinely wanted to work as a carer. Afterwards, came the job offer. At that time they had just applied for their sponsorship license. I was asked to submit my passport data page in February and shortly after I was sent my Cos.
I did my TB test, got police clearance and the rest is history.
When it came to visa application I was worried because I didn't have any care certification but my employer told me I would be trained so that was not a problem.

One thing I try to do for all my visa applications is to keep it simple. Hence, documents I submitted are:
Cos, TB cert, Police cert, marriage certificate, UK MSc degree as proof of english, previous visas and travel history. Disclaimer: there are no hard and fast rule to this, submit documents according to your individual circumstances and follow what's on the ukvi website.

Based on my experience one thing I can advice is network, network and network with those you know in the UK, this is one way people get jobs, not just in health care but other sectors.
Secondly I noticed ability to drive is a major criteria, so if you don't know how to drive, you can learn. Although my employer mentioned that wages are higher for those who drive.

I hope my long epistle is helpful, I may not be able to answer all questions, but I will try as much as I can to give answers.
Congratulations to you, TomatoSauce1.cheesycheesy
