He was presented as a credible challenger to Lashley and Gunther during their US and IC title reigns.
They reunited him with Gargano to reform DIY but fans didn't care that much. Even after they turned heel, the focus of that division was on MFT and Ojuju squad. All tag teams on SmackDown are suffered as a result.
He had a brief feud with Ilja in his attempt to with the US title then left when his contract expired.

exactly, it's the talent not the name; that has been my point. We hear weird names everyday, in football, in boxing, in UFC even in movies; allow them, especially when we know how these names are being generated.

but don't doubt his wrestling ability. He's more of a trainer in the performance center than wrestler.
Man has been wrestling since 2008. He's faced Claudio, Adam Cole, Kyle Oreilly, Swerve and other vets on ROH and indies.

They're lots of people like that in wrestling, who may not seem serious but what they do behind the scenes is important.
Sadly, not everyone makes it to be world champ or midcard champ.
There are underneath guys whose roles are to make the champs look good.

Been in NXT for 4 years, watched many come and get called up and he's still there; I don't know if he wonders why but mere looking at him you won't be surprised why it's so. And what's worse, he seems to be jobbing based on the last match of him I saw, yesterday. I may not necessarily have a problem with him (I don't know his wrestling well enough), but the bookings is stinking trash. The gimmick deserves to burn. He's not serious and therefore not taken seriously.
Let's the wrestlers be plain and simple WWE.

I don't know. I just remember COVID, lost fans for supporting Biden, bad publicity for his contract terms, squabble with Diesel that made him look egotistical, rumours he was a clone and child molester and all that; he became unrecognisable. Speaking of unrecognisable - I noticed he changes physically and characteristically over the years, it's so rapid it's crazy. The only thing that doesn't change about him is his gimmick style of talking.
Back to the matter, I think he lost authenticity and had his management dictate too much for him.

I don't hate the Rock. He's one of my favourite wrestlers. I just dislike the way he goes about business and his PR corpo-speak.

his PR game has been on a steep decline since COVID. I feel bad for him. But I think he needs to go back to basics. His latest movie is a good start in my opinion. A broken skull sessions can also be a good idea for that PR ish. Time to rewatch some 90s Rock to relive the good moments.
