Ex-Gov Okorocha: College was on Vacation when we Visited - EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to state that on July 23, 2019 when its operatives from the Enugu Zonal Office visited the Rochas Foundation College, Owerri, Imo State, that there was no harassment of any students, teachers or staff of the College and that the school was not in session as students were on vacation.

Nothing in the contrary could be farther from the truth. As against the motion pictures, shot in high-noon, being peddled as captured during the exercise, the peaceful and uneventful exercise we conducted in the school was carried out from 6pm downwards.

On arrival at the school, our operatives met with the principal, Mr K.A Akolo, who upon his enquiry, was told that the school was not being sealed but under investigation.

We restate that the College was not in session as students were on vacation when the operatives visited to carry out the exercise, and that no one was harassed. The Commission has documented evidence in video and pictures to back up this position.

These clarifications become necessary in view of the mounting falsehood being put out to the public that operatives of the Commission raided the College while it was in session and shut its students out.

While the Commission will not allow itself to be distracted in carrying out its mandate, it is necessary to once again state that its operations are guided by global best practices and standards.

The Jasper Ndubuaku-led Imo State Committee on the Recovery of Moveable Assets belonging to the State Government, have made a breakthrough on their job.

Acting on a tip off, the team discovered a massive warehouse Friday afternoon.

The facility, located along Aba Road, is alleged to be belonging to Nkechi, wife of former Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Okorocha is now the senator representing Imo West Senatorial district.

DAILY POST gathered that it took spirited intervention to stop the youths from setting the entire warehouse ablaze.

The discovery of the warehouse follows the sealing off of an estate also allegedly owned by Nkechi.

The property is located in the Akachi area of Owerri, the state capital.

The blocks of flat and bungalow were allegedly built with state funds and proceeds of corruption.

DAILY POST recalls that EFCC, had on Wednesday confirmed the seizure of assets and properties link to Okorocha, his wife, daughter as well as associates including son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who served as his Chief of Staff.

A statement by its spokesman, Tony Orilade said “the marking of the properties which is a fall-out of our painstaking investigation, is as a result of the failure of the suspects to honour the Commission’s invitation for questioning on the propriety of their acquisition”.

Falana clarified his position in the matter in a text message to The PUNCH on Tuesday.

Our correspondent had reported that the lawyer said the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had ordered the transfer of the case between the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, and the Dakokos to Lagos.

He said this was because the Dakolos were the first to submit a petition to the police over the rape allegation against Fatoyinbo.

He said the IG also asked that the petitions of the two parties be consolidated. Explaining how he came into the matter, Falana said he was contacted after the Dakolos had written their petition.

He said, “They wrote their petition before contacting us. When they met us, they expressed the fear that their petition might not be investigated. We intervened by requesting the police authorities to investigate the complaint. The IG has already granted the request. I confirmed the position to you yesterday (Monday).”

We are not voting a northerner because of any master-servant relationship, we are doing so to make sure that no Yoruba person occupies that seat. Na una start am.

I’ve seen a lot of romancing and pleadings from femi fani kayode and some other Yorubas on and off nairaland recently asking for southern unity (mainly due to the fact that APC would definitely cede the presidency to the SW)

It’s a known fact that the Yorubas openly worked against atiku abubakar and the PDP just because an Igbo man was in the race.

It is highly impossible for tinubu, osibanjo or whoever the SW might wish to present as candidate to come out tops without the combined efforts of the SS/SE and North so I advise they bury that dream of ever winning in 2023 because WE IGBOS WILL VOTE FOR WHOEVER THE PDP BRINGS OUT FROM THE NORTH. I’m in the East right now and I know the happenings 100% here.


The Yorubas should forget about soliciting for votes either directly or indirectly from the SS/SE cos it’s DOA.
