The representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has alleged that those who accused him of gun running, which led to his being summoned by the police have escaped from the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Melaye leveled the accusation on Wednesday during the Senate plenary.
Melaye, who came under point of ordered on the floor of the Senate, asked the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to produce the suspect within 48 hours.
He told the lawmakers that his lawyers were in court by 9am on Wednesday to respond to the police allegations against him, but the Police were unable to produce the suspects in court.
He added that efforts by the police lawyer to persuade court to issue a bench warrant against him was rejected by the Court
But the prayer by Melaye to mandate the IGP to produce the suspects within 48 hours was ignored by the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Two suspected assassins that were paraded last week and alleged to be working for Senator Dino Melaye and son of former Kogi state governor Abubakar Audu, Mohammed Audu, have fled the prison after a jail break this morning Wednesday March 28th.



A statement from the state police says four other criminals fled the prison as well. The police command has asked Nigerians to alert them wherever they see Dino Melaye, or any of the criminals that are currently on the run. The command in the statement says it has also alerted INTERPOL. Read the statement below



The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Police Command today 28th March, 2018 received a news that six (6) suspected criminal elements namely; Kabiru Seidu a.k.a Osama, Nuhu Salisu a.k.a Small, Aliyu Isa, Adams Suleiman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohammed who were under detention at the ‘A’ Division Lokoja escaped from lawful custody. Four of the suspects were on court remand including two that indicted Senator Dino Melaye and Mohammed Audi.



2. Consequently, all the six suspects, Senator Dino Melaye and Mohammed Audu were sent for watch listing and red notice by the INTERPOL for immediate arrest any where we see them.



3. The Command hereby appealed to the members of the public to assist the Police with useful information on the whereabouts of the suspects by reporting to the nearest Police Station.



4. Investigation into the unfortunate incident is ongoing, while the thirteen (13) Police Officers who were on duty when the incident occurred were defaulted and detained for interrogation.



5. Members of the public are hereby enjoined to go about their lawful duty as the Command is determined in ensuring adequate security of lives and property in Kogi State.

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has claimed that former Nigerian presidents, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, have rejected President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fani-Kayode was reacting to Bill Gates’ statement, where he said he “could not keep silent” about the situation in the West African nation.

He wrote on his Twitter page: ‘”I am worried and saddened by the direction of the present Nigerian government and I could not keep silent’- Bill Gates.

“OBJ, IBB, T.Y. Danjuma, Amnesty Int., Transparancy Int., IMF, Afenifere, Ohaeneze, Middle Belt Forum, Niger Delta Elders and Bill Gates have rejected u.”

In an interview with Cable News Network (CNN) on Monday, Gates insisted that the federal government’s investments in young people, especially in areas of health and education were not good enough.

He added that Nigeria would become an engine of growth if the government got health and education right.

“As a partner in Nigeria, I am saying the current plan is inadequate. Nigeria has all these young people and the current quality and quantity of investment in these young generations; in health and education just isn’t good enough. So, I was very direct,” he told CNN.

“If they can get health and education right, they will be an engine of growth not just for themselves but for all of Africa,” he had said.

A Nigerian woman on Instagram took to the social media platform to recount how she almost lost her two kids due to the negligence of a Lagos school (Crane Schools).Auto Draft

According to her, they kids went on a school excursion to Omu Resort, but were left in the school bus by the nanny meant to watch them.

“In February, my son (3 yrs) and daughter (2 yrs), joined the rest of their schoolmates (CRANE SCHOOL, Ajah) for an excursion to OMU Resort, Bogije.

Upon getting there, both my children were left behind in the parked vehicle on a hot day with the doors locked.
The nanny took down the rest of the kids, leaving just mine. The driver closed the doors and everything, everyone went in.

Sometime later, a staff of the resort was just passing by the parking lot when he saw my son call out weakly through the window. By some divine miracle, my boy was able to open to open it slightly enough and by some luck, someone just happened to pass by.

He called out, “uncle” and the shocked man looked inside the vehicle to see my daughter passed out in the chair and my son barely conscious.Both kids were covered in sweat. My son’s eyes were terrifyingly swollen and red.
The man raised an alarm and they were able to get the bus open on time.

My daughter, at the time, was already gasping for air. They had to UnCloth them both because their bodies were burning hot. They each finished a large bottle of water as they were very dehydrated.

The resort staff asked the school for our numbers. They were determined to report their deadly negligence. For hours, Crane School refused to give it. It was not until they threatened to post pictures of my kids and the buses on social media that they finally gave in.

My husband and I rushed to the resort after the call. He insisted on seeing the driver and childminder who left the kids in the car. The school refused to tell us who they were. We wanted to know why it was just our own kids that were left in the bus. We were very suspicious that it was not an accident. The school had no answer for us.
We are now suing the school for negligence and attempted murder. Their lawyer’s response was basically for us to do our worst.

Why am I writing this? I am appealing to all parents to keep an eye on their children. If they are always afraid to go to school, do some investigation. If they get bruises often, don’t let it go. Pop in on the school unannounced from time to time to see what goes on when you’re not there.”

The Nigerian Army has spoken for the first on the claim by one Sergeant David Bako, who alleged that there was a top level conspiracy that stage-managed the abduction of Dapchi schoolgirls on the 19th February.

Bako had claimed in an online publication that the Dapchi school girls’ abduction was planned in the villa and executed with N80 million.

Reacting, however, Texas Chukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, in a statement, said after cross-checking its record, the army could not find any “one call Sgt. David Bako, who neither serves in the army, deserted or dismissed”.

Chukkwu, however, distanced the army from what he described as “fictitious report” and requested the public “to disregard the confession made by the so call Sgt. Bako, who has not been in the army at all.”
His statement reads in full.

“The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a news report making round on Facebook and other social media to smear and drag the Nigerian Army into politics of calumny by mischief makers, that one deserted Sergeant David Bako leaks how Dapchi Girls abduction was planned in the villa and executed with N80 million. The information was said to be provided by Sergeant David Bako who claimed to be deserted soldier and one of the abductee of the Dapchi School Girls.

“The Nigerian Army therefore put the record straight that it has crosscheck it records and cannot find any one call Sergeant David Bako who neither serves in the Army, deserted or dismissed. The Nigerian Army therefore disassociate itself with such fictitious report and request the public to disregard the confession made by the so call Sergeant David Bako who has not been in the Army at all.

“It is imperative to know that these baseless and inane allegations are not new in the cyber space, knowing the fact that we are in the age of information warfare. Open Source Intelligence reveals that the website Dailyglobewatch.eu with country code top-level domain (ccTLD) .eu used in publishing stories is obviously fake and therefore not correct.

Based on our findings the website was registered on the 14 of April 2017 and the last updated was on the same date and will expire on the 14th April 2018, we are very familiar with reports of this nature and will advice the general public to disregard such claim and desist from sharing such information on the New Media as this is against the Nigerian Cybercrime Act 2015.

“However, it is really worrisome to the level at which some people could condescend so low to fabricate facetious allegation against the Nigerian Army and the military at large for cheap political gains or simply an act of pure wickedness, thus the public should disregard such facetious allegation.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate its commitment to remain apolitical and non-partisan in the discharge of its constitutional roles. We would also like to reaffirm our unconditional support and obedience to civil authority as well as reassuring Nigerians that these Fifth columnists will not succeed in their mischief as they will be fished out and dealt with accordingly.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while also reacting to the report, described it as unfounded and social media lies.

The Nigerian government has reacted to the alleged revelation by a certain Sergeant David Bako, who claimed there was a top level conspiracy that stage-managed the abduction of Dapchi schoolgirls on 19 February.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while reacting to the report, described it as unfounded and social media lies.

Mohammed spoke in Lagos on Sunday in response to the news in the social media since the abduction and return of scores of Dapchi schoolgirls by Boko Haram insurgents.

“I can tell you categorically that this David Bako is fake. There is no such soldier in the Nigerian Army. There was no conspiracy anywhere. The intention of those behind the disinformation and fake news is to cause disaffection between Christians and Muslims, and between Southerners and Northerners,” Mohammed said.

“This Administration’s success in seeking an early release of the Dapchi girls has ruffled many feathers. It has upturned a lot of plans by naysayers. They have not been able to sleep since the girls came back. Their campaign to unseat President Buhari is fuelling their desperation. Nigerians should prepare to see more avalanche of disinformation and fake news. But they should not lend any credibility to such reports. They belong to the trash can!

“This was done in concert with a friendly country, international organization and trusted facilitators, he said.

“A total of 111 girls were abducted from the Government Girls Secondary and Technical College (GGSTC) in Dapchi on 19 Feb. 2018. That means one student was not captured on the list of 110 abducted students that was compiled by the school, on the basis of which the Federal Government gave the number of abducted schoolgirls as 110.

“Also kidnapped were two other persons, who are not students of the college. They include a primary school boy who came to the school to sell pure water and another primary school girl. That brings the total number of abducted persons on that day to 113.

“So far, a total of 107 persons, comprising 105 Dapchi schoolgirls and the two non-students, have been released by the insurgents.

“Six Dapchi schoolgirls are yet unaccounted for. All efforts will be made to secure their release,” he added.

The United States Government has reacted to the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram.

The world power noted that there still remained enormous challenges in Nigeria which would require the attention of the United Nations and other international players.

This is part of remarks by the American Deputy Secretary of State, John Sullivan, during the International Advisory Council’s closing luncheon held at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington.

His words: “It’s a whole-of-government effort. It sounds trite to say, but it’s certainly true. We work closely with our colleagues at the Department of Defence, USAID, and the State Department. I was in Abuja, Nigeria a few months ago, and the challenges are enormous.

“The threat from Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa, particularly in north-western Nigeria, is very serious, as we’ve seen just in the last few weeks with the kidnapping of another 110 schoolgirls, most of who have been released, but only on the condition that they not are allowed to go back to school, which is astounding on its face. But we’re thankful that at least most of those young girls have been released. But we’ve got to address the security situation.

“But there are deeper problems – economic and social – that require not just U.S. Government’s assistance but assistance from a wide array of private organisations, other countries, and the United Nations. So that’s what we’re looking to mobilise to address the causes of the refugee flows out of that area and prevent these crises from developing,” the American diplomat stated.

Sullivan added that the problems of illegal migration and terrorism facing Nigeria and few other African countries would require more efforts and global cooperation to solve.

He disclosed that the US would work more closely with the G5 countries and national governments to tackle the issues.

“Looking at what we do in the U.S. Government, I’d focus, for example, on Africa, particularly in countries like Nigeria, the countries in the Sahel and Northern Africa, the tragic scenes that we have seen of refugees and migrants leaving Libya, Tunisia, Algeria for southern Europe.

“And those people are coming from countries farther south in Africa, where there is conflict, poverty, et cetera. So we’ve got to have – from the U.S. Government’s perspective, it requires an integrated strategy with our colleagues at the Department of Defence to partner host governments.

“For example, the countries in the Sahel, the so-called G5 – working with them to address the terrorism problems that are presented in the region, to establish a baseline of security so that humanitarian assistance, development assistance can flow into the region, and remove the causes of people who are fleeing those countries, risking their lives to cross the Mediterranean to get to hope for a better future in Europe.”

The Department of State Services, DSS, has revealed that Boko Paramedics, prior to the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls demanded “cessation of hostilities and temporary ceasefire”.

DSS Director General, Lawal Daura made the disclosure while revealing the role of the secret police in securing the release of the girls.

He spoke when President Muhammadu Buhari received the released girls at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Daura, the process of negotiating the process of the girls’ release was complicated and painstaking.

He said, “However, before you today, Mr. President, are two additional young primary school pupils, namely Hafsat Haruna, an 11-year-old primary six pupil, and Mala Maina Bukar, 13 years old and also a primary six pupil.

“The remaining six Dapchi girls are yet to be accounted for, and dialogue on these students is still ongoing.

“It may be recalled that the President had given a clear directive to security agencies to use peaceful options to ensure the timely and safe release of the girls.

“What followed were intense behind-the-scene dialogue spearheaded by the Department of State Services.

“The insurgents’ only condition was their demands for cessation of hostilities and temporary ceasefire to enable them return the girls at the point they picked them.

“They required assurances that the government security forces would keep to this.

“The exercise was arduous and quite challenging. The sensitivity of the operation and some uncertainties surrounding it, particularly the routes to be used, nature of transportation, realization and concern that the girls were not kept at one place, issues of encountering military checkpoints within the theater and indeed keeping the operation on strictly the “principles of need-to-know” made the whole exercise more complicating.

“Beyond the release of the abducted girls, our primary interest for engaging in the dialogue was informed by the following: permanent possible cessation of hostilities, discussing the fate of the arrested insurgents and innocent Nigerian citizens being held hostage, and possibility of granting amnesty to repentant insurgents.

“These presently seem problematic because the insurgents are factionalised while holding various spheres of influence in their guerrilla controlled enclaves.”

In what seems like a daring reprisal attack, bandits loyal to an assassinated gang leader, Buharin Daji, killed eleven (11) Nigerian soldiers Tuesday night in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A source who is conversant with the development confided in PRNigeria that the well-armed bandits stormed a military post at Doka, an area between Funtua and Birnin Gwari and killed the soldiers on the spot and the bodies of the slain soldiers have been dumped in a mortuary.

PRNigeria further gathered that the gunmen had earlier attacked Maganda District in the afternoon on a revenge mission over the killing of Buhari Tsoho where nine (9) members of security volunteer groups were critically injured.

After Maganda, the Armed bandits moved towards Kampanin Doka at the junction road leading to Gwaska and Dansadau and relaunched another attack leading to the death of the soldiers.

A leader of security volunteer groups in the town said that the community had notified Kaduna State government since last week of strange movements of bandits in Birnin Gwari through Funtua-Dansadau axis but no action was taken.

The source said: “With the killing of the bandit commander, Buhari Daji at Nabango area under Birnin-Gwari local government of Kaduna State just 16 kilometers to Dansadau in Zamfara state, there were strange movements of some of the armed men in the area.

“Suspicious of their movements with sophisticated weapons around Goron Dutse, Kuiga, Maganda, Unguwar Nachibi communities, we immediately sent alerts and warning signals to Kaduna state government to take action.

“In fact since the killing of Buharin Daji, kidnappers have been having field days along Birnin-Gwari-Funtua road on a daily basis. Some villagers being terrorized by armed bandits in Kirazo and Layin Mai Gwari had to relocate to Birnin-Gwari town.

“Surprisingly, shortly afterwards, some soldiers that were deployed for ‘Operation Karamin Goro’ in Birnin-Gwari were withdrawn, leaving behind few soldiers who stayed inside the town.

“We have been under intense fear of this armed group and have called for proactive government protection before the latest killing of soldies”.

While the Irigwe Development Association alleged that the document was recovered at a scene where some persons were recently killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen, MACBAN said the ID card was stolen by Irigwe youths who attacked the house of Idris while he was worshiping in the mosque.

The President of IDA and former member, Plateau State House of Assembly, Sunday Abdu, said, “The identity card was seen at the scene of an attack where people were killed. The issue of identity cards is a small matter. We also recovered telephone handsets. We have reported the matter to the Police and the items have been taken for investigation.”

The chairman of MACBAN in Plateau State, Muhammad Nuru Abdullahi, insisted that the ID card was stolen along with other personal documents. He said, “The owner of the ID card is the deputy chairman of MACBAN in Bassa LGA. He was chased out of his own house. “He left this document inside his own house, and they entered and picked it and then went away with it. The man was running for his life. The incident happened on Wednesday morning. You know, they were attacked very early in the morning before 6:00am. He was in the mosque when they were attacked and he was unable to return to his house.

“That was how they picked the documents, including the certificates of his children, indigene’s certificates of his wife and children, his (MACBAN) identity card, vehicle documents and other personal items. He has reported to the Police and the report has been documented.” When contacted to find out whether any report was lodged by either parties, the spokesperson of Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, an Assistant Superintendent of Police said, “It is a sensitive matter; no comment for now, until after diligent investigation.”

Nigeria secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the arrest of one Jonah Abbey aka Jonah IDI which it described as a notorious gunrunner alongside his driver, Agyo Saviour aka Dan-Wase.



DSS, in a statement released on Sunday, said ABBEY has been on its wanted list for the last 10 years over arms and ammunition trade before his arrest on March 13, 2018 in Wukari town in Wukari LGA, Taraba State.



The Service said the gunrunner has been supplying weapons to criminal groups in Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue/Taraba axis, including the notorious criminal syndicate led by Terwase AKWAZA aka Ghana in Benue State.



DSS added that recent intelligence indicated that Abbey moved arms and ammunition from Konduga in Borno State into Taraba State through his driver, SAVIOUR.



“It may be noted that subject has entrenched his criminal activities in different parts of the country. Indications are that he sources arms from the Republic of Cameroon and parts of the North-East of Nigeria,” DSS said.

federal government delegation on Sunday visited Bauchi to commiserate with the state government and family of Ali Wakili (APC), the senator representing Bauchi South, who died on Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the delegation was led by Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Mohammed Buhari.

‎At the family house of the late senator, Mr. Kyari said they were in the state to commiserate with the family of the deceased and the entire people of the state, over the death of the lawmaker.

“Senator Wakili was a good partner that had been a model to the rest of lawmakers in the country.

‎“The late senator was a very devoted and highly committed team player, as well as a fine legislator,” he said.

He prayed that God would grant the family, state and the nation, the courage to bear the loss of the deceased.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi described the death of Mr. Wakil as a loss, not only to his constituency, but the entire nation.

“His vibrant contributions on the floor of the Senate chamber would be greatly missed,” he said.

NAN reports that other dignitaries who visited the residence of the deceased to condole with the family include former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed; former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed; Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu; and the current FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello, among others.

‎Meanwhile, Bauchi State Government has declared three days of mourning, during which flags will fly at half-mast and directed that during the period, working hours be reduced by two hours.

Most Rev. Michael Gokum, the Catholic Bishop of Pankshin Diocese of Plateau, on Sunday donated food items and N45,000 to Internally Displaced Persons in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau.
The donation was facilitated by the Justice Development and Peace Commission of the diocese.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that gunmen recently attacked some communities in Daffo District of Bokkos and killed many people, with scores injured and thousands rendered homeless.
Presenting the items to the displaced persons on Sunday, Gokum said the gesture was to alleviate their sufferings and give them a sense of belonging.
He said: “We are here to empathise with our brothers and sisters who are affected by the recent ugly happenings in some communities of this locality.
“When such things happen, those affected become helpless; as such will need urgent support to cater for their immediate needs of feeding and shelter.
“So, we have come with a little token and some food items to assist them find succor, pending when they will return to their original places of abode.”
Gokum encouraged the people to always trust and believe in God, and show Him gratitude in every situation they found themselves.
The bishop, however, tasked the affected persons against revenge.
He urged them to live in peace with their neighbours for the good and development of their communities in particular and the state in general.
He called on government to strengthen the security apparatus to ensure safety of lives and property in all parts of the state.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Bassil Kassam, the JDPC Coordinator in the diocese ,had commiserated with IDPs and urged them to be prayerful.

THE police in Lagos State have arrested no fewer than 100 persons allegedly involved in a violent clash between two unknown groups at the Scavengers Land near New Garage, Ojota.

The State Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Mohammed Ali, made the disclosure to on Friday.

He said that the arrested persons had been transferred to the Taskforce Office, Oshodi, Lagos.

Ali said that the leaders of the two groups were meeting with state Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal, with a view to resolving their conflict amicably.

“Nobody was killed in the clash. The situation has been brought under control.

“Our men will be here until total peace is restored,” Ali said.

According to Agency report, the two groups were scavengers gathering and selling unserviceable items at a place called “Igidanpani.

The clash forced shops in the New Garage and some parts of Ojota to close.

“We don’t really know what caused the crisis. We were surprised to see people scampering.

“It started on Thursday but the police brought the situation under control.

“The groups started again today, forcing shops in the area to close,“ a vulcanizer, who identified himself simply as Adeshina said.

Meanwhile the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode visited the scene on Friday evening for an on-the-spot assessment.

He ordered closure of the New Garage as a measure to end the crisis.

The governor warned against violence of any sort, saying that the government would not tolerate it.

A young boy from Jigawa state has emerged has the student with the highest score in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for 2018. The boy identified as Aliyu Muhammad Sani Kaugama scored 311.

The student had finished his secondary school education at the academy for the gifted and talented Bamaina School.

Kaugama has become the talk of town since he came out on top with the perfect exam score.

Many Nigerians have called on Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state to sponsor the brilliant student’s education. The governor was asked to support Kaugama’s education abroad in other to help the student reach maximum potential.

Some persons were feared killed as Yoruba and Hausa youths clashed at Gida Panli, Kotomola, in the Ojota New Garage area of Lagos State.

Punch Newspaper reports that the clash broke out on Thursday after a Hausa youth reportedly beat up his Yoruba counterpart over a misunderstanding .

Some area boys in the area were said to have avenged the assault on the Yoruba youth, leading to the clash which spilled over to Friday morning .

Several motorcycles were destroyed in the melee while commercial activities in the neighborhood were paralysed.

Police have been drafted to the troubled spot to restore normalcy.

“There was a misunderstanding yesterday (Thursday ) between a Yoruba and Hausa youth. The Hausa guy reported him to some area boys in the area and they settled the issue.



“Afterwards, he went to attack the Yoruba man and beat him up. That made the area boys to be angry. They attacked the Hausa man and the clash started . Traders had to vacate the area and many Hausa people had been chased away.

“I learnt some people were killed , but I am not sure of the number yet . Police have been trying to restore normalcy,” a commercial driver in the area, Wale Ajayi, said.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, confirmed the clash and promised to make more details public as events unfold.

The police in Borno has issued an alert warning residents of an impending attack by Boko Haram using vehicles loaded with explosives. The police said should the planned attack succeed, it may result in heavy casualty as the insurgents are suspected to be targeting strategic locations of the city that are densely populated.


There are about four million people currently residing in Maiduguri due to the displacement of most surrounding communities by the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency.

The Borno State Police Command in a statement signed by Ahmed Bello, an assistant commissioner of police, said the forewarned attack could take place in different parts of the city; therefore the security organs in the state have been mobilised to strategic locations to avert its possible occurrence.

“The Borno state police command in collaboration with “Operation Lafiya Dole” high command wishes to draw the attention of the general public that information at the disposal of the theatre command reveals that dislodged and rampaging Boko Haram terrorists have concluded arrangements to attack parts of Maiduguri metropolis notably, populated/crowed areas to maximize casualty through the use of vehicles fully primed with IEDs.

“Consequently, security forces have adequately deployed resources to counter and frustrate this evil plan of the heartless terrorists.

“The command therefore, wishes to call upon Borno people and the public at large to promptly alert security personnel of any suspected person(s), suspicious movement, vehicles, objects, etc for prompt action. Be rest assured that such information and informants would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

“Finally, with the renewed commitment of the theatre command leadership and all security agencies the general public is once again reassured of the determination of security forces to protect lives and property”.

According to reports, an emergency meeting of the state security council was held on Thursday at the Government House, before the alert was issued by the police.
