Comedian Mark Angel has stated that what he and colleague Emmanuella does is not just for the money.

Speaking with nAIJ, Mark said he was once offered $400,000 to sell their Facebook page, but he refused.

In his words;

“You can sell it and start again but there are people who can only get a laugh through that channel and by selling it, you will deny them that chance”.

“Recently, a company wanted to buy out our Facebook page. I thought it as a scam but this company is well known and they offered us $400,000 when I converted it to Naira, it was more than N100million (N144m). My first thought was ‘guys lets sell it.’

“But we can’t sell it because it’s not all about money. Money cannot buy what we do. If you think about it, you can sell it and start again but there are people who can only get a laugh through that channel and by selling it, you will deny them that chance,” Mark Angel said.

Senator Barnabas Gemade has backed the call by a former Minister of Defence, TY Danjuma for Nigerians to defend themselves.

Danjuma had called on Nigerians, especially people of Taraba state, to defend themselves against rampaging Fulani herdsmen.

He added that there was an ongoing cleansing of his ethnic group, Tiv.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly yesterday Gemade said, “This country is becoming a state without control. It is a state in which we have seen ethnic cleansing.

“It is a shame that a sitting government could watch criminality go to the level that we have seen it today.

“Rather than rise up and take very decisive steps against it, we embark on denials and shield this evil by just explaining, with flimsy excuses, that these are communal clashes between communities.

“The carnage in Nasarawa-South affects mainly people of my ethnic group, who are in large population in Nasarawa-South. It is the same kind of killing that is going on in the Goma, Logo and Gwer West local government areas of Benue State.

“And it is the same kind of killing we are witnessing in Wukari and Takum LGAs. It is targeted at a particular ethnic nationality – my own people.

“I don’t understand why responsible people elected to control the government of Nigeria will simply turn away from the reality of this matter.

“Yet, there are people who are armed and are killing people as they like. And the Inspector-General of Police would fly by helicopter to a town, land in the market square and be asking people whether there was any militia in the town or not. And nobody seems to caution anybody. This is very sad. We have done enough of a minute silence for innocent Nigerians being killed.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has again blamed past civilian administrations for the current nation’s economic woes.

Tinubu stated this in his address as the special guest of honour at the 35th annual Aminu Kano Memorial Symposium, held in Kano, on Tuesday.

The former Lagos state Governor, who was represented by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, described the ex-President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration as the worst culprit in the pillaging of the nation’s resources.

Tinubu attributed the country’s current infrastructural deficit to the billions stolen by the past governments.

He said the APC government had in the past three years been labouring hard to clean the rot and give the people a new lease of life.

Tinubu said “The APC government may, at times, be imperfect in fulfilling the spirit of Aminu Kano but we are far from the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party), which has perfected the malign craft of giving selfish ambition primacy over the public good.

“Consequently, the Buhari government has spent inordinate time cleaning the rot and plugging the holes in the corrupt system the others had institutionalised as their strategic policy and national direction.

“The APC has been working to steer our national ship from this awful direction in order that we may bring the people and their welfare into safe harbor.

“Had the billions of dollars and trillions of naira that were stolen by past governments been used for the people, the nation would have been able to acquire the infrastructure and implement the programs that bring greater development and economic justice to all.

“Instead, the select few ate more than their bellies could contain. Distorting the cause of justice and hijacking the means of national welfare, they wildly enriched themselves and left the average Nigerian to dine on the passing wind.”

Due to the drop in oil prices, Tinubu said that the ruling government had had less resources at its disposal than its predecessors, but had done more with the less.

He said the theme of the symposium was apt and timely.

He commended the Aminu Kano Center for Democratic Research and Training and Bayero University for the initiative.

Tinubu described Aminu Kano as a “great man that could have lived an easy life by exploiting, for selfish objectives, all the opportunities opened to a man of his great abilities and social station.”

He added that, “Instead, he (Aminu Kano) devoted himself to the welfare of the people. He took the harder path because it was the true and correct one. As Aminu Kano did, we must do.

“The spirit of this great man must guide more than our deliberations here today. That spirit must direct our political intercourse and actions.”

Other speakers at the event, Publisher of Premium Times, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi and a stalwart of APC, Dr. Usman Bugaje, examined the “Democratic governance in Nigeria and the imperatives of party ideology and supremacy.”

In his paper, Bugaje raised a few posers such as the difference between power and authority, legality and legitimacy, as well as eligibility and sustainability.

He argued that it was possible to have power without having authority, adding that it was also possible to be eligible, but not suitable for a given position or office.

In order to succeed, he said a leader must be knowledgeable, courageous and selfless; while adding that a leader must be like a shepherd who leads his cattle to a place of pasture and a good place where they can graze.

In his own presentation, Olorunyomi stressed the need for the country to be in accord and be united in purpose.

In spite of the challenges that Rwanda recently went through, he said that the country was able to bounce back into a unified entity where law and order reigned because of unity of purpose.

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Tuesday raised the alarm over renewed killing of Christians in Nassarawa State by Fulani herdsmen.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain alleged that the herdsmen had yesterday “slaughtered” 32 Christians in Nassarawa state while President Muhammadu Buhari was “wining and dining in London.”

In a tweet, Fani-Kayode wrote, “Fulani Herdsmen slaughtered over 32 innocent and defenceless people in the southern part of Nassarawa state yesterday which is predominantly Christian.

“As Buhari is wining and dining in London his Fulani kinsmen are butchering more of his compatriots and subjects every day.”

Buhari, who is currently in London, had yesterday held a bilateral meeting with the United Kingdom, UK, Prime Minister, Theresa May at 10, Downing Street, London.

The Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, has said the institution may involve the police to verify a telephone conversation involving Prof. Richard Akindele and the student of the institution.

Professor Akindele was said to have asked a female student for sex in order to help her pass her exams.

The VC speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday said the university might involve the police to get to the root of the matter if the investigation committee runs into a hitch.

He said, “We have a committee that is investigating the matter now and we gave them one week to submit their report. If we run into any hitch, we can use all the resources available to get to where we are going. But once things are running smoothly, we may not need to involve the police.

“But we must first identify those involved and where they are; if we have any problem doing that, then that is when the university will invite the police.

“The committee’s one week will elapse by Wednesday. We will brief you about it. I need to state that we have excellent relationship with the police, the DSS and others.”

Nigeria’s former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd), has lamented that nobody has given him credit for conducting the June 12, 1993 presidential election adjudged to be the freest and fairest in the history of the country.

General Babangida said this during an interview on Roadmap 2019, a Channels Television programme that was aired on Monday.

The late Moshood Abiola, a philanthropist and successful businessman, had won the election, which was later cancelled by the then military junta headed by General Babangida.

The poll was the first presidential election held in Nigeria since 1983 when the military took power in a coup.

The late MKO Abiola of the then Social Democratic Party (SDP) had defeated Bashir Tofa of the defunct National Republican Convention (NCP).

Twenty-five years later, General Babangida was displeased that despite explaining why the June 12 election was cancelled, nobody cared to listen.

He said he had a good relationship with the presumed winner of the election whom he said they had communicated at different occasions.

“Nobody has ever sat down to say the two persons are friends, what went wrong? We tried to rationalise why we had to do what we did but nobody is prepared to listen to us,” the elder statesman said.

“I have never seen anybody write anything on this to try to give people a different version altogether. He (Abiola) knew my feeling; I knew his feeling about the country generally because I do talk about Nigeria with the presumed winner of the truly democratically freest election. We even talked about it during the crisis itself,” he said.

Babangida stressed further that the election was widely accepted to be the freest in the history of Nigeria, but he has yet to get a credit for conducting the poll.

He decried that Nigerians were instead interested in saying he cancelled the freest election, noting that he loved being criticised.

On whether is he was planning to write an autobiography, the former military president said, “People may not read it because it’s coming from a dictator. Yea, he cancelled June 12 and that will kill the thing about the book, but I will try.

“I hope one day if God spares my life, I will discuss about it (June 12 elections) because I still believe people don’t get what we were trying to put across.”

Fierce looking cultists, at the weekend, attacked Eku Police Station in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, and allegedly vandalized property worth millions of naira before setting free inmates at the station cell.

It was gathered that the cultists also sacked Eku Community with guns, cutlasses, axes and bottles, leaving passers-by scamper for safety.

Police image maker in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident, said the cultists vandalized several vehicles, disclosing that six of them were currently being detained for further investigation.

While urging residents of Eku to go about their normal businesses, as normalcy had returned to the area, DSP Aniamaka assured that those who were responsible for the mayhem would be brought to book.

“We are not taking it kindly at all, some of the suspects are currently being detained, and we will get to the root cause of the mayhem”

Eye witness said the cultists were dressed in black clothing with red caps, and stormed the police station chanting war songs around 9.30pm on Friday.

They allegedly engaged the policemen on duty in a gun battle before they set the cell inmates free.

An indigene of Eku Community, John Ogbokowu who spoke to our reporter, said “the perpetrators of the crime were the same Eiye (Bird) cult, and Vikkings also called Aro-Bagers cult groups that have been disturbing the community since 2016.

“The community had not been willing to do anything to arrest the situation because most of their children are members of the dreaded cult groups”.

Since 2016, Eli community has been facing attacks from suspected cultists, especially the Vikkings and Eiye confraternities, who destroyed property worth millions of naira and killed over thirty persons.

Ahmad Salkida, a journalist and a close ally of the Boko Haram sect has opened a can of worms on the untold stories behind the abduction of some girls from a school in Chibok area of Borno State in 2014.

Salkida, who was once declared wanted by the military over his alleged connection to Boko Haram militants, revealed that the violent group had wanted the then government under Goodluck Jonathan to swap its detained members with the abducted girls but the deal hit the rocks.

Salkida said his efforts to seal the deal were truncated at the eleventh hour by the then Chief of Defence Staff.

In a series of tweets, detailing the yet-to-be-told story of the Chibok saga, the controversial journalist disclosed that at the moment, only 15 out of the 115 girls kidnapped by the insurgents were still alive.

Sadly, he said they have been married out and no longer under the control of the sect.

He recalled thus, “Four years ago, a middle ranking Boko Haram commander led dozens of fighters in search of food and other supplies in the remote town of Chibok, like an afterthought, they saw a chance to abduct school girls in GSS Chibok, the girls at the time were preparing for their exams.

“The dozens of Boko Haram fighters faced no opposition during the abduction, as they struggled to convey their captives to the forest of Alagarno, the insurgent’s first war capital, which they named Timbuktu. It was in Timbuktu that they organised most of the horror we experience today.

“Some of the girls were lucky to have escaped on their way to Timbuktu that night, because there were fewer fighters to hold more than 200 girls. At the beginning, the group didn’t know what to do with the girls, at least, not in the first one month of their captivity.

“However, what many people did not know was that two weeks into the abduction, the Jonathan administration was already in touch with me for the peaceful release of the girls. By the way, I was in self-exile after pressure from the same Government.

“I took an excuse where I was doing a menial job in the UAE (but still reporting the insurgency), to see the president, which was facilitated by Aliyu Gebi and Labaran Maku. By the 3rd of May, I was already on my way from Abuja to Madagali, Marwa and finally to a Boko Haram camp.

“I got a proof of life for the president and another for the media in case I didn’t get back. The demands of Boko Haram then were simple, they wanted detained members taken to Damaturu and they will move the girls to Buniyardi for swap somewhere in between. There was no word on ransom

“I was provided with full military escort from Abuja to Damaturu, Govt was supposed to make sure that 70 detainees were ready on my arrival in Damaturu to meet 30 there. The rest of the negotiating team was in Abuja making sure the prisoners were on a plane before my arrival.”

Silkida, however, said he was shocked on getting to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital only to discover that the detained Boko Haram members were not on ground for the swap deal.

He wrote, “On arrival in Damaturu, the military commander there was not briefed about my work. He was merely told to expect a VIP? At that time, the girls have been moved by Boko Haram, but there was no prisoner for exchange and I got a call from the former CDS to abort the operation.

“The president later said before me that he did not call off the swap. There was a credible window, but zero will to rescue the girls. Boko Haram members were angry. I returned to the UAE to continue my hustle, but received invitations not only by the former administration, but the current government.

“Four out of five processes that I was involved in, we came close to a swap deal, but government in most instances did not provide the platform I presented with the required expertise. And whenever government dragged its feet, Shekau will shift the goal post.

“I continued my reporting on the crisis, often critical of government and Boko Haram, with both sides raising concerns. For me, I am a reporter before anything else, many officials consider me as somebody who was too independent minded for a process that needs to be shrouded in secrecy.

“Government then began to look for alternatives to conclude what I’ve started & my former couriers stepped in as the primary ‘negotiators.’ It was a break for me because it was no longer negotiation, but mere transaction. Another reason was my insistence that the process must be domesticated

“I was a prickle in the flesh of our leaders with my counter claims of official narratives. A day after I exclusively released a video of the girls, something I’ve done in the past, I was declared wanted by same military that provided me with escorts, military aircraft for assignments

“I was amazed to learn later that the terms that saw the release of some of the girls was unfavourable than what I presented, but as my friend will say, even if we come up with a cure for cancer, the war economy and elites would rather die than accept a cure from a Talaka.

On the fate of the kidnapped girls, Silkida said many of them were dead, while those alive have been married off.

According to him, “Today, my painstaking investigations on the Chibok schoolgirls revealed that just a handful of the 113 Chibok Girls are alive. Many of the girls have died as a result of cross fires and bombardments of the security forces that no doubt were intent on rescuing them.

“I regret to state here that only 15 out of the 113 Chibok girls are alive today, based on my investigations in the last 3 months and we have already seen some of them in a video, which I exclusively obtained and was published on Sahara Reporters website.”

Regrettably, the reporter further disclosed that the girls were no longer under the custody of the Boko Haram factional leader, Abubakar Shekau.

He revealed thus, “What is the status of the remaining 15 girls as far as negotiations are concerned? My investigations also revealed that, they are no longer under the control of Abubakar Shekau. According to sources, they are now ‘married’ and only their ‘husbands’

‏

“If they are divorced or the men are killed that is when Shekau’s decision takes precedence, and in this instance, since the girls have been indoctrinated, their leader has no right to negotiate for their release, no matter the ransom offered, reliable multiple sources said.

“It will be unbearable to share the names of the 15 that are alive here, this is the responsibility of Govt. When I was involved I regularly provided proof of life. Govt must demand that to prove me wrong or stop negotiating for many of the girls that don’t exists.

“The secrecy around the condition of the Chibok Girls and most recent Dapchi Girls debacle by those involved is the reason people like me are out of the picture. The fact remains that under the present circumstances there is NO room for peace settlement.”

On the way out for the girls, he opined that the military should rescue or negotiate with individual captors to release their ‘wives’ in return for some kind of deal.

“But this will mean death to these fighters because the terror group now sees the girls as part of their own and must be protected.

“How comes there is little or no information about the girls and both the parents and campaigners are in the dark? Because, government resists independent reporting of the crisis, most of the reports are choreographed and Nigerians are also not ready to hear the truth or stand by it.”

Meanwhile, a mail sent to Femi Adesina, media aide to President Buhari drawing his attention to Silkida’s claims and possible reaction was not replied at the time of filling this report.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi, is presently attending a meeting of the Osun State Traditional Rulers Council Meeting at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Oluwo has never attended the meeting since he ascended the throne almost the same time as the Ooni in 2015.

It was gathered that some Obas had, during the last meeting held on July 4, 2017, raised the issue of the Oluwo and they resolved to go to Iwo to prevail on him to attend this meeting.

The Olojuo of Ido Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, who is the secretary to the Council of Obas and about 40 other traditional rulers were in attendance.

The Ooni of Ife, who arrived at the venue of the meeting last, went round and greeted all the traditional rulers one after the other. All the traditional rulers stood up to acknowledge his greetings.

The Ooni, who presided over the meeting, prayed for the monarchs and the towns each of them presides over.

Oba Ogunwusi said, “It has been long since we held this meeting. The meeting is usually held on a monthly basis. This is not the time to point accusing finger at anybody.

“The Timi (of Ede) came to me and told me that he would not be here because he was traveling out and that he had scheduled the trip before the meeting was called. So also is the Orangun of Ila.

“I greet the Oluwo specially. Like I always say, all of you left here. I am the caretaker here. Unity and the development of our state is very important.

“Some traditional rulers have departed the world since our last meeting. The Olubosin of Ifetedo, Salu Edun Abon and Olulamokun of Yakoyo.

“We should portray ourselves the way we should. We should carry ourselves with dignity and royalty. We should unite and stand as one. Our meeting is about how to bring about development to our state and the nation.

“I greet the Oluwo special, especially being his first time of coming here. Nobody is asking you not to come here. This is your house.”

The Lagos State Police Command has reacted to a viral video of a man who was assaulted by SARS operatives till he became lifeless.

The incident, according to those who shared the video, happened at Haruna bus-stop, Ogba area of Lagos on Monday.

An eyewitness said the victim had only just stepped out of an eatery when the operatives pounced on him, demanding to search his phone.

His refusal to allow his phone get scanned through by the SARS operatives resulted in a barrage of slaps and kicks.

In a public reaction to the video, former police spokesperson in the state, CSP Dolapo Badmos, claimed the police commissioner in the state, Imohimi Edgal had confirmed to her that the policemen in the viral video had been identified.

“As I speak to you now, they are in his office undergoing interrogation,” she said authoritatively.

She went on to say the police boss had “informed me of the punishment he would mete out to them!”

“I’m so hopeful because the CP is pained,” she added.

CSP Dolapo Badmos’ statement of authority that the SARS operatives have been arrested.

But the police has said CSP Badmos told a lie. The command said no such incident happened in Ogba.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the police said plain-clothed officers went to the alleged scene of the incident and residents confirmed no such thing occurred.

“The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the social media that SARS operatives, on Monday 9th of April, 2018, beat a citizen until he was dead,” the police’s statement read.

“Based on the video clip of the incident which went viral on the social media, the Command began an investigation into the matter.

“Part of its findings was that no such incident took place at Haruna Bus stop, Ogba on Monday 9th April 2018; there was no record of it being reported at any of the police formations within Ogba Area Command nor was it reported at any of the Command’s complaint platforms.

“Besides the above, it is a common knowledge that such an incident cannot happen in the city of Lagos without an uproar at the venue of incident; it is in this regards that plainclothes detectives were deployed to enquire from the people living and doing business around the popular Haruna bus stop whether such incident ever happened in their area and not a few were embarrassed by such question because according to them it never happened.”

But the former police spokesperson was so sure the SARS operatives in the video had been apprehended. So, what changed?

This blatant contradiction indicates that either the Chief Superintendent of Police, Dolapo Badmos was misinformed, or the state police command is lying.

A police source confirmed the development to Vanguard.

“On Wednesday 11th April 2018, sequel to several reports of threat received by Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR) located in Obumeze Community, Ahoada LGA Rivers by a group named- Amalgamated Niger Delta Avengers.

“Operatives of the IGP- Intelligence Response Team IRT deployed to PH by IGP Ibrahim Idris swooped into action and arrested two (2) principal actors who posed as militants and Threatened the company.

“The threat messages demanded an initial payment of N20million & to be placed on monthly salary of N3million; failure to do so would be followed with kidnap, death, Vandalism/Explosion and attacks on the company’s assets.

“The suspects arrested are: LoveGod Chinuzioke 27yrs native of Obumeze Community Ahoada LGA Rivers State; he is from the host community of NDPR and was just granted bail from Port Harcourt Maximum Prison for a case of Armed Robbery and Kidnapping.

“He hatched the idea of extorting money from the company and got contact numbers of the senior personnel of NDPR. Justice Okolo 25yrs; native of Aniocha LGA Delta state.

“He composed and sent the threat messages to the company. Suspect also admitted belonging to a notorious armed robbery gang terrorizing Ahoada and environs and the phone used for the threat was recovered from him.

“Effort is still on going to arrest remaining accomplices at large, and recover arms, Ammunition and Explosives.”

A senator of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Shehu Sani has called for thorough investigation into allegations that the party's funds were misappropriated by the outgoing administration of national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun.

In a message posted on his Facebook page on Sunday,Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts noted that for the party to maintain its image of 'saintliness', the matter must not be swept under the carpet.

"The allegations of financial misappropriation in the ruling party as published in the national dailies today is serious.It should be properly & orderly investigated for the party apparatchik to maintain their sainthood or angelic aura.

Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina, struggled to articulate what she meant on Sunday during the live eviction — a situation that got her worried that Miracle, whom she referred to as her ‘best friend in the House,’ might have ran away with wrong impression.

The host, Ebuka, had asked Nina about her relationship with fellow housemate Miracle, and she responded by saying that Miracle is her “everything” and her “best friend,” though she has a boyfriend named Collins in real world.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Nina told Alex that when Ebuka asked her what Miracle was to her, she didn’t know how or what kind of response he was looking for, hence her response that he’s her ‘best friend.’

Even though she explained to Miracle what a best friend is to her, she said she still believed that he didn’t understand what she meant.

“To me, whenever I have a boyfriend, I refer to him as my best friend,’ Nina told Alex.

Alex, however, reassured her that any person who knew her would understand what she meant because a boyfriend could also be called a best friend or a brother.

The heart to heart conversation between Nina and Alex was soon disturbed when Miracle wanted something from Alex and she couldn’t attend to him immediately.

Upon knowing what they were talking about, he decided to sit down and listen, hoping to understand why Nina had revisited the issue

In her defence, Nina replied that she wanted to hear what someone else made of the issue, to which her in-House boyfriend said there was no issue.

According to Nina, the uncertainty of what’s going to happen after Big Brother has her protecting what she knows.

Many times during the Sunday conversation, she made mention of ‘Collins’ whom she always refers to as her boyfriend; and on Tuesday, she told Alex that, for as long as she’s in the House, she’ll keep protecting Collins, even though she doesn’t know if he’ll be there when she leaves the Big Brother House.

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate House of Assembly seeking approval for 26 nominees.

In the separate letters, President Buhari is requesting confirmation of one National Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), two non-legal practitioner members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission and 23 other members of the National Population Commission (NPC).

In the first letter, the President is requesting the confirmation of Barrister Festus Okoye as National Commissioner of INEC and Abba Ali (Katsina-North west) and Mohammed Sagir (Niger-North central) as Non-Legal Practitioner Members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission.

President Buhari in the second letter also forwarded the names of twenty-three nominees for appointment as members of the National Population Commission.

Senate President Bukola Saraki while reading from the letter on Tuesday said that the President hopes that his request will receive speedy consideration of the Senate.

“I write to forward to the Distinguished Senate, the name of Barrister Festus Okoye, for confirmation as a National Commissioner representing the South East Geopolitical Zone.

“While hoping that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept Mr Senate President, the assurance of my highest regards,” he read.

The Senate President also read to the National Assembly, President Buhari’s letter seeking confirmation for the 23 other National Population Commission (NPC) members.

The 23 nominees for the NPC are; Nwanne Johnny Nwabuisi (Abia), Dr Clifford Zirra (Adamawa), Mr Chidi Christopher Ezeoke(Anambra), Barrister Isa Audu Buratai (Borno), Navy Captain Charles Iyam Ogwa(Cross River), Sir Richard Odibo (Delta), Okereke Darlington Onaubuchi (Ebonyi) and Mr A.D. Olusegun Aiyajina (Edo).

Others are; Ejike Ezeh (Enugu), Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Danburam (Gombe), Prof. Uba S.F. Nnabue (Imo), Dr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Durunguwa (Kaduna), Sulaiman Ismaila Lawal (Kano), Prof. Jimoh Habibat Isah (Kogi), Dr. Sa’adu Ayinla Alanamu (Kwara), Nasir Isa kwarra (Nasarawa).

Also nominated are: Barrister Aliyu Datti (Niger), Yeye (Mrs) Seyi Adererinokun Olusanya (Ogun), Prince Oladiran Garvey Iyantan (Ondo), Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Hussain (Osun), Mrs Cecilia Arsun Dapoet (Plateau), Dr Ipalibo Macdonald Harry (Rivers), Sale S. Saany (Taraba).

However, the Senate adjourned the plenary to Wednesday, April 11.

A man identified as Kazeem Hakeem was allegedly killed by SARS operatives in Ogun State for a crime he was reported not to have committed.

According to a friend of the deceased identified as Dewunmi Lagos, who took to Facebook to narrate the story, the deceased was being tortured by the Federal SARS officers at their office and he tied upside down.



Kazeem was alleged to have died after the SARS officers untied him and he hit his head on the floor.

I know kazeem very well, he’s one of the most gentle soul I’ve known. He looks rough but he’s so gentle, when we were talking sometime back in 2014 about election he asked me for MTN recharge card and I said he is richer than I am then he dragged my pocket and took the money from me and from there we got talking.

I’ve met with him at Lagos garage in ijebu ode so many times and he is always hailing me.

He was robed and arrested by FSARS squad, he was tied upside down and was tortured badly to confess what he knew nothing about, when they untied him, on getting down his head was smashed on the floor and he died.

A letter has been forwarded to the secretary to the governor’s office (Ibikunle Amosun) and when he got the letter he said today in Ogun state Exco meeting will be for a short while because he wants to be present at the chief judge presiding over the matter today.

The chief judge requested the corpse be brought to the court today and all the officers who arrested him and those who tortured him.

We hope this will be a lesson to other security officers who think they can go Scotfree. Everyday for the thief and one day for the owner.

Yesterday, the internet was hit with the news of singer Alizee’s passing.

According to reports, Alizee’s husband murdered her and her 4-year old who was found laying on her chest.

The singer’s manager has now released an official statement about the murder which reads thus;

1. Petra Entertainment Limited has received with shock news of the sudden demise of our artist Nielsen Zainab Joy (Aged 29) and her daughter Nielsen Petra (Aged 4) at their Banana Island, Lagos home on the 5th of April 2018.

2. The late Nielsen Zainab Joy (also known as Alizee) was a Nigerian citizen married to Nielsen Peter Schau a Danish citizen resident in Nigeria.

3. While we exercise restraint in making public comments on the circumstances surrounding the demise of Alizee and her daughter, – in order not to prejudices on-going police investigations – it has become important to correct some misinformation presently circulating in the media space.

4. In this regard, we state that the husband of the late Nielsen Zainab Joy who is also the father of the late Nielsen Petra is Nielsen Peter Schau. Nielsen Peter Schau is a Danish citizen and not an Italian or Asian as has been reported by several media outlets.

5. We call all law enforcement agencies to speedily unravel the circumstances surrounding the demise of these vibrant Nigerians and bring all complicit persons and/or entities to justice.

6. In the light of reports suggesting that Alizee’s husband may be under Police investigation in connection with these painful deaths, We particularly call on the Nigerian immigration Services to remain vigilant at this time and urge the cooperation of all foreign missions in the country.

Ace photographer, Sunmi Smart Cole, on Thursday narrated how he was rough handled by President Muhammadu Buhari’s security detail during the colloquium to mark Senator Bola Tinubu’s birthday in Lagos.

Smart-Cole, 76, who is currently recovering from the injuries sustained during the beating in a hospital in Ikoyi, threatened to sue the Department of State Service (DSS).

The former head of photography in the presidency said he was revived by the former Governor, of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, and the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

He said he was invited to the colloquium to take photographs, and that things were going on well until the president arrived and the place became rowdy.

“I was invited by the vice-president’s office. The vice-president told one of his assistants, Mrs. Uwais, the wife of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, to invite me to cover the event”, he told Thisday.

“When Buhari entered with about 50 security personnel, things changed. If you stood near them, they would give you elbow. At a time, I just told one of them, ‘I am an old man; I am actually 76 years old’.

“He said he didn’t care and directed another security official to make sure ‘this old man does not come near the president’. I had to take photographs from a distance.

“The security operatives around the president continued to push me until I became exhausted and I slumped because my legs became weak.

“I slumped right in front of Segun Osoba, Niyi Adebayo, the former Governor of Ekiti State; the Governor Tambuwal, and Governor Okorocha, who sat together, including the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki. They all saw me. I am the oldest working journalist in Nigeria.

“I slumped but I did not pass out. Prof. Pat Utomi and the Publisher of Ovation Magazine were detailed by Osoba to keep me seated, saying I get too excited when I carry camera. He seized my camera.”

Smart-Cole, however, disclosed that the doctors were not yet satisfied with his recovery and would spend more days there.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has expressed concern over the death of another Senator, Mustapha Bukar.

The Senate President took to his twitter handle to announce the news, he said, “I am saddened to learn of the passing of another friend and colleague, Senator Mustapha Bukar. As a first-time Senator, Mustapha stood out for the quality of his contributions on the floor, his pragmatism and his work to strengthen the institution of the legislature”.

Senator Bukar was reported to have died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

His death comes a few weeks after another Senator representing Bauchi, Ali Wakili died after slumping at his Gwarimpa residence in Abuja.

Until his death, Senator Bukar was the Senator representing Katsina State.

Olisa Metuh, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has insisted that he never collected any money from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), under the leadership of Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

Metuh is currently facing corruption charges for allegedly receiving the sum of N400m from Dasuki during the build up to the 2015 general election.

Speaking on Channels Television, the former PDP spokesperson said he had never been to the office of the NSA and has no relationship with Dasuki.

According to Metuh, “I did not collect any money from the National Security Adviser’s office. I have never been to the former National Security Adviser’s office.

“I had no relationship with the former National Security Adviser, I had a relationship with my President who was the leader of my party.”

Metuh accused the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government of witch-hunting its opponents especially members of the PDP.

“This persecution is more than that. They witch-hunt. It is not a fight against corruption. It is a fight against political opponents.

“How can you call someone a looter when he is still in court. How can you say someone stole when there is no evidence about it? When you are saying that the money paid into his account is an unlawful activity. You haven’t proven it. You have not established anything. Maybe because you think you can manipulate the judiciary,” he said.

Femi Fani-Kayode, former aviation minister has reacted to the ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s latest attack on President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obasanjo had on Monday, while addressing a group of youths who visited him at his country home in Abeokuta, Ogun State described the Buhari administration as a failure.

He had also asked the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government to stop complaining about the challenges it met on ground.

Reacting to Obasanjo’s statement, Fani-Kayode, in a tweet wrote: “One of the first lessons I learnt in the military was ‘never reinforce failure’. This administration is a failure -President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“OBJ strikes again!”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain also insisted that Buhari’s government had links with the Boko Haram.

He added, “It is unjust and unconstitutional to proscribe Boko Haram – Lai Mohammed, 2013.

“An attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north – Muhammadu Buhari,2014.

“Amnesty will make Boko Haram fighters useful to the nation – Shehu Garba, 2018.
